Hi all,
Hoping to snare a few of you who has just found out the great news like me, to share the journey and have a big moan about all the lovely effects pregnancy has on us!
It's no.2 for me!

Good luck Olivetti, hope they can reassure and/or scan you.

I've got my booking in appt with the midwife tomorrow morning. What should I ask about

I have on my list to ask: when will 12 week scan be, do I need consultant care due to hypothyroid or PCOS, can she hear the heartbeat, do I need to worry about pink/brown spotting since my scan at 7+4... , can I have a water birth.

Anything else?

ellliebelle · 10/05/2012 18:46

well i am going to be the size of a house come christmas :( at breakfast and lunch i really dont feel like eating and am only managing a bowl of cereal or similar but by early evening im ravonous and all i want is bad food :( curry last night kfc tonight this is not good

also (tmi) i am suffering with terrible trapped wind Blush its really painful

CODwidow · 10/05/2012 19:07

Ellie I also have the wind and still so hungry all the time I'm also going to put on a tonne before December!

Minipie she'll answer loads of questions you don't think of and also run through what type of birth your hoping for but they don't listen in to the heartbeat til your 16 week appt.

mwahmwah · 10/05/2012 19:23

Nothing quite like a mcdonalds chicken sandwich for morning sickness yum Yum! (might even force a mcflurry...) x

minipie · 10/05/2012 19:32

Thanks COD. I thought that was probably the case about the heartbeat... was just hoping I could get some kind of reassurance as I've had quite a lot of pink and brown spotting over the last couple of weeks. I've already had two early scans Blush and all was ok, so I am sure they won't give me another, but the spotting has got more frequent (though less red) since then so of course I'm fretting. Ah well what will be will be I guess.

mwah I sat next to a woman eating a really smelly Subway on the tube this morning... and surpringly it made me hungry rather than vommy! funny thing this pg nausea isn't it.

Cookiesandcream06 · 10/05/2012 19:43

To all those with the wind and fat food craving.. DITTO! Had wind since the day before I found out.. I bloat so much during the day and then comes the wind. Made DP go out and get me a McDonalds last night, I literally couldn't eat anything we had in the house, it was all I wanted. I look round in the face already Blush I must be piling on the pounds...

Good luck to anyone with spotting (touch wood I've not had any for over a week now so I'm hoping I'm in the clear now!) try not to worry yourselves (although I know only too well this is impossible to do)!)

Bellaboo123 · 10/05/2012 20:02

Snap! I could only eat takeaways at weeks 6&7 and very fussy in wk 8...such bad wind and spots. Couldn't eat anything in the house felt so bad to dp! Bit better this week! You're not alone!!! X

ivanapoo · 10/05/2012 20:03

I'm ALL about the constant eating. After a pack of nuts, choc bar, sandwich, three pieces of fruit and whatever else I could scrounge from the office I had to resort to chewing gum... But I have to eat or drink something (and water is the latest thing to make me feel sick, ffs) all the time. It's the only way I can handle it!

I don't eat meat but am massively craving KFC and maccy d's now, thanks to you lot.

Clarella I hope I don't have to wait till 13 weeks for scan, not even a month since I found out and every day feels like a year waiting till I get the date for mine! I'm banking on 12 weeks...

PS the amount of farting and burping I'm doing it's a miracle I'm still married...

ivanapoo · 10/05/2012 20:08

I just thought to counteract my previous posts I should focus on the positives of being pregnant...

My usually rubbish skin is fab - no spots for first time in 20 years!

My boobs are massive so I have a cleavage again (lost weight several years ago and they went a bit spaniel's ears)

No periods - used to have horribly heavy ones due to having coil

Excuse to be a lazy git and fussy about what I eat ;)

Husband is being even more awesome than usual

Despite my various mum to be worries I feel generally very "zen".

SpottyTeacakes · 10/05/2012 20:10

I've been making dp go out each night to buy me food too as I never fancy what we have in, can always eat a pot noodle though Blush

I'm going on holiday on Monday and after looking forward to it for months I'm now dreading it, I just feel so sick and tired all the time booo!

ellliebelle · 10/05/2012 20:32

are you going anywhere nice spotty? i go on hol a week on wed and i really cant wait :) there are quite a few of us going and i have agreed to be designated driver on the condition all friends and family look after our 2 dd's for the whole 10 days :)

so glad im not the only one craving naughty food although i have to say its not all craving some is just being too worn out at the end of the day to cook dh suggested him putting something in the slow cooker on a morning but not convinced i could cope with the smell of it cooking all day

SpottyTeacakes · 10/05/2012 20:44

I'm off to Spain Smile our first holiday since having dd luckily dp is really looking forward to spending time with her so I can relax! We have to leave out house at 2:45am though to go to the airport!

Easy meals are a must but I don't think I could cope with slow cooker food all day. I bought a caesar salad tonight and did souther fried chicken with it yum!

Saphiesgirl · 11/05/2012 06:22

Ivana- I'm so jealous of your lovely skin! I have more spots than I can remember having as a teenager! On the plus side I have no sickness and only odd wave of nausea- manageable. Last time I was pg I remember boobs being hugely sore for ages and they went up in size massively- this time no bigger and not sore. Bit more sensitive but I'm still trying to wean ds off boob- much against his will so figure there's no growing required for my cleavage!
Sad to stop bf but ds is 2 - and I want one less reason for him to be jealous when the baby arrives.

On the plus side, mw said at appt they would consider inducing me at 38 weeks because of complications I had last time- 38 week on the dot for me is 12/12/12 hoping they will as my ds is born 3/3 - I know it's silly and I'll be happy for everyone to get there safely but the date is very appealing!!!

Hope everyone is hanging in there, only a few more weeks till we can tell people- anyone got plans on who or how they'll tell folk yet?
Happy holidays to those of you going away!

ivanapoo · 11/05/2012 07:12

Saphiesgirl you're not alone, my due date is around 7th but I would love to have our baby on 12/12/12 too Blush who wouldn't?

Both sets of our parents are due to visit next week so we're planning to tell them face-to-face before telling friends, other relatives etc. We'll tell people face to face if we can but some of our relatives live abroad.

I'm really not looking forward to telling my sister who is a lot older than me (in her 40s), single and as a result has v low prospects of having the kids I know she would like. Any advice on this? Can't tell her face to face due to location.

It's been v hard keeping it from work - they must think I'm ill with something weird if they don't suspect - and I'll be amazed if at least some of our closest friends hadn't guessed as I'm usually a massive lush but last three or four times they've seen me I've been "driving"!

PurplePidjin · 11/05/2012 07:16

Saphie, for my parents I bought them a gooseberry bush and told them to expect the stork to visit it in time for christmas

My gran will be 91 the day after I hit 12 weeks. I'm going to get her a "happy birthday great grandma" card and a picture frame for the scan photo to open at the family dinner. This will be her first ggc (her other gc live in the US so this is likely to be the only one she meets) so I'll let her have the pleasure of telling the entire world wider family Grin

Other than that, I've just replied to "how are you" with "not bad but morning sickness sucks" and waited for the dawning light of realization... We've told a few friends, on the basis that we'd need their support if something went wrong therefore they should share in good news :)

ivanapoo · 11/05/2012 07:16

Spotty I've been craving Caesar salad loads... Think it must be the crunchy lettuce.

Hope you and ellie have lovely hols - I'm not going for another 6 weeks and am hoping I feel much better by then. Gutted I won't be able to drink loads of cheap Euro wine and giant G&Ts like I usually do!

we bought a photo frame with Coming soon... printed under the picture to put the scan picture in for DH's mum/ We've told a lot of friends already have needed their help with the kids for docs/hospital appointments etc!

rich tea biscuits work well for MS!

FriendofDorothy · 11/05/2012 10:08

Well no further bleeding since Wednesday but I am struggling to shake my sense of anxiety over the whole thing. I hope I calm down soon because every twinge I get I worry.

I am 8+4 now and seem to be getting little twinges which I wonder if they are things growing and stretching. Is anyone else getting something similar?

blackcurrants · 11/05/2012 12:22

I'm around the same as you friend and definitely getting twinges now and then. And this is my second so you'd think everything would know what to do! But yes, twinges when I stretch in a weird way or just, whenever really!

SpottyTeacakes · 11/05/2012 12:55

I'm feeling a bit better today so trying to enjoy it still exhausted though! At least the sun is shining Smile

Jealous of up coming scans mine won't be for another five weeks of so

StrawberrytallCAKE · 11/05/2012 13:11

I've been having crampy twinges for a couple of weeks now but the nausea seems to have almost gone, it has been replaced by horrific headaches if I'm a tiny bit tired or haven't drank enough water so at least I can sort of control them.

Coming back to rainy England today!! Looking forward to getting a scan date (hopefully in a letter when I get back) and booking in on Friday at 11+4 Hmm I need to see a consultant pretty soon too. Is anyone else having their cervical length measured? I had some of it chopped off with bad cells so don't worry if it doesn't apply.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/05/2012 13:17

It's sunny today Strawberry! With dd towards the end of the first trimester I got horrendous headaches, migraines really, that made me really sick. The dr said it was the hormones and gave me stronger painkillers once into second trimester

StrawberrytallCAKE · 11/05/2012 13:21

Sunny?? Oh that makes me happy...think we may have timed this holiday quite well. That sounds horrible, they aren't as bad as that so I'll count myself lucky.

I remember having co-codamol for the last two weeks of my 1st pg as I went to 42 weeks and had spd. I was also losing my mind a little bit and spend a lovely couple of weeks in bed dreaming and watching market kitchen. No chance of that this time with 3yo.

Stacks · 11/05/2012 13:27

Hi everyone. I'm not very good at keeping up with this thread. There's too many people for me to keep track of, and it updates so fast! I do try and read as much as possible, but by the time I get up to date I've been on here ages and have to get back to work/get off the bus/go to bed.

Very sorry to hear about people with sad losses, and those with worries over spotting.

Lots of us must be getting on towards the 2nd trimester now. With the potential for feeling/looking good, and less to worry about (and growing bumps). I'm really looking forward to it, though still nearly 3 weeks to go.

I'm 9+2, and I think my tiredness is getting better. I've managed to stay awake through most of work these last couple of days, and even feeling slightly awake in the evenings. Still have the nausea though, but wonderful lemon juice is still working to keep sickness at bay.

For those of you that haven't tried it, I recommend giving it a go. It's a common aid for sickness, and even just smelling a freshly cut lemon can help. I read it on the internet so it must be true, right?
