Hope you are ok today chloe ?

How are things stacey? I got really down yesterday, I think mostly cos I feel bad being off work.

Thanks narco for the more comprehensive advice about thy, my head was all over yesterday. brooke I also wondered about taking the extra before was confirmed (they messed up my preggo test) but also got worried about it too - I would in the same position now but id want to know my last results.

Tell your doc or another doc to look at the nice guidelines, I think its called 'prodigy' or what was the cks nhs website that the doctor really should consult. Print off advice from both the British thyroid association and the foundation and demand he looks at it. If you have been wobbling and you are on a little too high and tsh is low to should be ok but they definately should do a blood test now for baseline. even if its the other way, everything will be ok but you may feel more 'thyroidy' My worry about taking extra without sanction was then if they did a blood test - other people may be more confident.

There is very recent research on the btf that docs think its a midwife area and mws think its a doctor area - the docs now have VERY clear procedural guidelines and referral to consultant for me happened at booking at 8+3. (but lots of super reassurance from many ladies here)

A nurse friend suggested printing off the nhs cks guidelines to show but I wasnt brave enough - my pestering did seen to get them to clarify everything though and they asked mw to do bloods again at booking (though she nearly forgot).

Main thing I've noticed is (tmi) lack of constipation which I was dreading and is a major thyroid symptom for me!

NarcolepsyQueen · 03/05/2012 08:09

Count I'm so sorry - hope you are being well looked after

ivanapoo · 03/05/2012 08:24

So so sorry to hear that Count, wish you a speedy recovery. X

brooke89 · 03/05/2012 08:26

So sorry count, make sure you look after yourself!

Clarella - very helpful thanks a lot! Got my bloods on the 10th so will hold off till then! Definitely feeling more thryroidy... Don't suffer with constipation but mood swings and sleep for me, but then again I could put them down to pregnancy symptoms too!

Hope everyone has a good Thursday and its neeaarrrly the weekend!! Grin

Chloe55 · 03/05/2012 08:33

Wow Clarella great info for those who need it. Hope all you ladies who were feeling down yesterday feel a bit brighter today. It's completely natural though what with all our hormones, feats of the unknown and secrecy.

I was awake the hours of 3am-6am and totally spewed my guts up, this wasn't pleasant but was a little reassuring my symptoms are still there as didn't puke from. 3pm up til that point yesterday! Less than impressed when I got back into bed and dh said 'thanks, I'll never get back to sleep now' then proceeded to roll over and snore. Angry he doesn't remember this this morning so I will let him off Grin

Seeing the midwife at the hospital today for my booking in, have already done it with local gps surgery but thankfully this time the hospital I am with are being very thorough.

NarcolepsyQueen · 03/05/2012 09:22

In my experience you need to tell them what to do about your thyroid. They all seem a little clueless!

Clarella · 03/05/2012 10:08

Defo Narcolepsy!

To be honest I got most of my info from the lovely ladies here, and then i'm a member (now) of the BTF - never bothered before but they have close contact with and regulation by consultants here in the UK.

How many weeks are you Brooke? - I'd actually be tempted to ask the doc to do a test earlier and review your meds now before the results are known based on the doctors NICE guidelines - are you definately getting thyroid bloods done at booking? The MW will only do with Doc consent, my experience so far is the MWs know even less than the docs.

With all this slapped cheek stuff I asked about thyroid results whislt getting blood test and the nurse and I were surprised to find the docs dont have results - they've gone straight to the consultant but I have heard nothing since (10 days ago) which may prolong any med changes for you? I don't know if each care trust is different? Please dont get anxious though.

Apologies I have far too much time to think about stuff at mo! going to go for a swim and see a friend today to avoid the banging builders.

Oh I asked DH about pearl. He instantly said "pearl necklace - no way." he obsessed with looking for ways in which a name could be turned into a form of abuse, especially the boys. Its a massive thing for him! - i suspect this was his favourite game as a cocky teen. its making name lists quite restrictive! I like Inigo after the great Inigo Jones landscape architect. (he cant find a teaser there but says its just weird)

RhubarbCrumbled · 03/05/2012 10:30

Oh Count, I'm so sorry to hear that. Hope you have a quick recovery and have better luck in the future.

I just feel like I'm whinging a bit now with my bit of morning sickness. I didn't have any last time but was awake in the night and have spent most of the morning with a swimming stomach and head. But still so hungry! I feel so tormented!

CODwidow · 03/05/2012 12:23

So sorry count I hope things go well with the op and you get plenty of rest, life really can be crap sometimes.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 03/05/2012 12:25

count so sorry to hear that, sending all the love in the world for a speedy recovery!

clarella thank you so much for your wise words, i cant get results until 2pm so trying to remain calm, it doesnt help that the sickness has taken a back seat for 3 days so i'm adding 2 and 2 and getting 15 probably!

As for bump you can see i'm pregnant without me saying a word, it is bump shaped both when standing or sitting now, 7 weeks and huge, this does not bode well for the next 33 weeks lol!

Very jealous of early scans and seeing heartbeats, i can't wait for this to be made real for me, especially with the worry atm.

Names have been decided already, we have Cohen for a boy and Bree for a girl, sorted :)

CODwidow · 03/05/2012 12:26

Well that's booking in done and it was the same mw I had last time with the mc so she was really helpful and said that hopefully I should get my scan slighty early but she can't guarantee it. It's good to think its official now but scary that I won't see her again til the end of june! Scary stuff.

I hope everyone isn't suffering too bad today with ms, I've been lucky I think I have the permanent nausea but without the physical throwing up.

blackcurrants · 03/05/2012 12:40

so sorry count - take care of yourself, wishing you a speedy recovery x

I am still working out the kinks in my 'eat dinner for breakfast' plan, but so far avoiding cereals and breads seems to keep my blood sugar/energy fairly even. All I want to do is eat ritz crackers but I'm trying to ignore that sensation. To that end, it's 7.30 and I've just eaten some mozzerella, tomatoes, and half an avocado. Now I'm taking the dog out, even though I want to go back to bed for hours. DS woke up at 5.30 and I cuddled with him till 6am then handed him over to a (rather grumpy) H. I'm not at my best in the morning either, but I think I'm wanting him to leap, mary-poppins-style, out of bed and whisk DS away so I can get another half hour of kip!

SpottyTeacakes · 03/05/2012 13:01

So sorry count wishing you all the best for the future.

I like the idea if dinner for breakfast, toast is making me gag but I don't stop feeling sick if I don't eat.

I'm really tired today and I'm working, dd woke up stupidly early as she has a cough Sad

My booking in appointment is next week at the hospital, have to go every week from now on which would be so bad but it's over thirty minutes away and £1.60 an hour parking Hmm

Hope everyone is keeping a lovely lunch down Grin

livismum · 03/05/2012 13:26

Stacey love love the name Bree (slightly biased as DD2's middle name, would have loved it as a first name but I love cheese and we live in the west country and DH said everyone would think cheese)

Worked a 4-8 shift at work last night and felt a but faint so I'm trying tea for lunch today, Uncle Bens rice time, medium curry yummy! Then I'll munch a cereal bar on way in (probably stash some sweets somewhere too) still of chocolate which is so strange for me, just don't fancy it!

Chloe55 · 03/05/2012 15:48

Threw up at my booking in appointment today Blush she told me not to worry about the brown discharge unless it goes red. Which is all good and well but I had brown discharge for 3 weeks with the last pregnancy-found out at 12 wk scan it had died 3 weeks before, this was after a huge blow to my stomach though which did coincide with the brown discharge so just holding onto the fact my symptoms are raging which can only be a good sign.

Really struggling to think of anything o actually want to eat. I never ever feel hungry at the mo which is so unlike me.
