Hi all,
Hoping to snare a few of you who has just found out the great news like me, to share the journey and have a big moan about all the lovely effects pregnancy has on us!
It's no.2 for me!

Congrats equimum! Welcome!

Hi brooke (don't want to be resident doc) but Im underactive and I think a couple of people here are. See the doctor, the norm seems to be up at least 25 mg as soon as pregnancy confirmed and ongoing monitoring. I went up at 5 weeks (dont Google, I did, I panicked - boy did I panic - but British thyroid foundation are good) If your doc is unhelpful ask them to look it up or demand a second opinion. They try to dampen down your TSH I believe.

I am a very well person normally, this preggo stuff is making me barmy!

On that note my mum said she was convinced a ww3 nuclear war was about to happen so what was she bringing a baby into the world for.... makes me feel a bit saner

Pearl is lovely, esp in a Scottish accent. The Welsh version is Megan I believe, but don't quote.

Not even going to bother reporting DHs name suggestions they are so stupid.

brooke89 · 02/05/2012 18:58

Thanks daydream, spotty and mostly Smile
Narco & clarella - glad I'm not the only one! When I mentioned it to the GP he said he didn't know and to speak to the midwife... Same GP who lost 2 lots of blood results previously and confused a third with someone else's! Not the best around. Did speak to the midwife on the phone today who just suggested getting bloods done but they couldn't book me in for another 2 weeks, maybe I should take an extra 25 in the meantime? Thanks for your help ladies. Smile

PurplePidjin · 02/05/2012 19:01

Marshall and Vox make amps, Fender make guitars, Pearl make kits and Ziljian are cymbals Blush

I thought they were stupid name suggestions! Littlie is currently Sprout but may become Cabbage as time goes on. Apparently, I was Ben as a bump and my dad was Penelope - which no one knew until 30 years later when my parents announced that my name would be Penelope

pleasebethismonth · 02/05/2012 19:04

my dd wants rabbit twins called hoppy and gio?!!
Tried to tell her I am NOT a rabbit!

MostlyHarmless84 · 02/05/2012 19:11

Brooke, is there another GP at the practice you could see?

kiwi5 · 02/05/2012 19:22

brooke i have an underactive thyroid too. your doc is being crap, it is really easy for them to look it up on either their doctor computer system or in their meds book - so no excuses to be honest. you should have your bloods done every 4 weeks and i ws initially under consultant care for dd. they then decided i didnt need to be as low risk, so hoping it will be the same this time (altho mw has said i am high risk this time as my mum survived 2 heart attacks 18 months ago and my nephew died earlier this year of congenital heart defect)

am feeling anxious as i am feeling great - i know i shouldnt complain. but the nausea has totally gone and i am even feeling more energetic now. i am around 9 weeks. no other symptoms at all. boobs dont hurt this time either. just hoping that pip is still stuck in there.

names - havent really thought about it, although if a girl, would it be awful to use second choice girls name from dd? thing is people knew it was our second choice. boys, i tend to work with a lot of boys so have heaps of vetoes!!

MostlyHarmless84 · 02/05/2012 19:31

Please I'm laughing out loud at the idea of having twin rabbits!

I don't really have a name for my bump yet, dh has taken to calling it "the symbiote" but I don't really like that! "Sprout" is cute. I had a friend who called hers "peanut", and I was "it" until I was about 6 months old as my parents couldn't get used to me being a real person after 9 months of being "it".

PurplePidjin · 02/05/2012 19:47

Shock Mostly, does that make you Eddie Brock?!

brooke89 · 02/05/2012 19:50

Mostly - Going to have to look into it or maybe moving to another practice.

Kiwi- I did think they were being rubbish,DP called his friend who is a doctor today and he advised to book in for some more tests. Thing is I was diagnosed over 3 years ago and so far haven't had a result that have come back as "stable" always under or over increasing/decreasing by 25mg each time..... Strange!

brooke89 · 02/05/2012 19:50

Ps twin rabbits Grin

MostlyHarmless84 · 02/05/2012 19:52

Hehe, we were thinking of Teal'c from Stargate (oh dear, showing my geek side already Blush )

backwardpossom · 02/05/2012 19:56

My 'bump' which isn't a bump, is nicknamed Animal. From the Muppets. DS was called Elmo as a bump and it was quite hard when he was born not to call him Elmo!

As for names... (assuming this one sticks, of course) hmm, this is tricky! For a boy, we're thinking Andrew, but for a girl? No clue whatsoever. Everything DH suggests I veto due to former pupils who were a nightmare, and everything I suggest, he doesn't like! I'd like something Scottish to go with DS's name...

MostlyHarmless84 · 02/05/2012 19:56

Sorry - cross post, that was in response to Purple, I wasn't suggesting Brook sees Teal'c for medical advice!

blackcurrants · 02/05/2012 20:02

Backwards aaahah, my DH is a teacher and vetoed LOTS of my suggestions for DS based on former students who were a nightmare. Teachers are such great spouses in so many ways, but you're utter nightmares in this area! Grin

Chloe55 · 02/05/2012 20:03

Congrats to the newcomers Smile

Had some brown spotting today Sad am desperately telling myself this can be normal but my fears of what happened last time are flooding back-brown blood for 3 weeks, found out at 12 wk scan baby died at 9. I am 9am tomorrow, trying to stay positive but can't shake this feeling of history repeating. I also went into a dark depression for 6 mths following that and do not want to end up back there Sad

Our baby is called 'jellybaby' as that's what it looked like on the 7 wk scan!

We really like Scarlett for a girl but chose that as a definite in the last pregnancy and after the way that ended I just don't know if it could still be an option for us.

FriendofDorothy · 02/05/2012 20:05

Oh dear God I am so tired tonight. Every time I sit down my eyes are shutting. What a nightmare!

PurplePidjin · 02/05/2012 20:05

Beats Venom, Mostly Wink

PrunellaDeVille · 02/05/2012 20:12

welcome new BFPs.

loving the curious name choices - at least for bump - mine's been 'Banjo' for weeks now, it was the most random entry on my list of names that i presented to DH, it's never going to be used for real so we may aswell nickname the wee bean, plus it's pretty unisex.

mwahmwah · 02/05/2012 20:16

Possum, my friend has three all with Scottish names, the newest is a girl 'coira' which I think is pretty?
Chloe, thinking of u. Try to stay positive, I had spotting with both mine throughout trimester 1+2 and my babies are 100% fine, doesn't necessarily mean the worst. Ps, I LOVE Scarlett, firey but pretty too, or ruby?... Xxx

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/05/2012 20:32

Hello everyone. I like Heath or Nate for a boy and I can't remember the girls names I picked now, funny because with dd I picked lots of girls names and hardly any boys so maybe it's a boy? My food preferences are very different too (if that's not absolute bollocks). I love the name Holly but unfortunately due to our last name it would sound like Hollywood and this is the second time I'm due in winter but will never be able to use it.

Dd wants me to have a dog called coco so you are not alone with your rabbits please

I've been horribly constipated (sorry tmi) since arriving on holiday and it turns out the prune juice in America is much stronger than in England Blush what a shock. My bump also seems to have disappeared Blush.

backwardpossom · 02/05/2012 20:35

Chloe I know the feeling. :( Hope it's a positive outcome for both of us x

We are, aren't we blackcurrants!

mwah Coira is lovely! I like Fiona (OH not keen due to a Fiona he knows) and Isla. Boys are much easier. Ewan, Fraser, Andrew are 3 that I love!

mwahmwah · 02/05/2012 20:42

Possum, i'm finding the boys' names hard. Just not as interesting as girls'! Liking cutesy names for girls, floral ones, daisy, poppy, Lıllıa, etc.

brooke89 · 02/05/2012 20:42

Me and DP like Amelia for a girl and can't decide on any potential boys names!

Strawberry - did you have to speak to your doctor before flying? We're off to Barcelona on sat and I read somewhere that you cant go through the metal detectors if pregnant??

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/05/2012 20:54

Brooke I spoke to mw but she just told me to wear flight socks and take some aspirin before the flight, I decided not to take the aspirin because I'd rather not take anything unnecessarily and just walked around and wiggled everything a lot. I also checked at security as they have the full body scanners whether it was ok for me to go through and they said it was fine. Last pg I flew a few times and everything was fine,

Ooh Barcelona, how long are you going for?

backwardpossom · 02/05/2012 21:00

Brooke I hope not as I flew at the weekend and never even thought about it! Enjoy Barcelona - I used to live there! I love it! :)
