I definitely need to do more swimming. I got in thinking I'd struggle to do 32 (1/2 mile) and ended up doing my full 64 easy as pie! Haven't felt that good in weeks Shock I would've carried on but I told my best mate when she arrived (it's her only child free time as her dp works away, so important to to keep up) and we were gassing. Immediate offer of baby stuff passed on from her 10mo dd, which I wasn't expecting Grin

cashmere · 29/04/2012 22:09

Talking of exercise maybe we could start a pelvic floor reminder part of this thread?!

Have regular reminders to do them and post different exercises/ ways of remembering to do them?

I learnt a new one this week- squeeze from back to front in 3 stages, then release in reverse. Then do from front to back and release in reverse.

If you notice you are weaker at front, middle or back of the hammock focus on holding that area.

Sit on a rolled up face cloth (front to back) to give something to squeeze away from!

Morning ladies and happy Monday. Been having spotting again (still not red thank goodness) I keep telling myself everything is fine but there's still that lingering worry at the back of my mind..

Just to lower the tone on a Monday morning.. Does anyone have any tips on keeping things (ahem) alive in their relationships right now?! DP stands 0 chance of getting anywhere near me at the mo and I'm starting to feel guilty and feel as though it's making us even more irritable with each other.. Any reassurance or advice out there...?Confused or is it just me?!

NarcolepsyQueen · 30/04/2012 09:07

Morning all! Oh dear Cookie! I think it is normal during the first trimester to be honest - what with feeling sick and being so tired. Orgasms are usually stronger though, if that is any help?! You will probably be much more up for it during the second trimester, once you are feeling better but before you are too large! Perhaps up the cuddles and hugs element of your relationship? Make sure you talk to him about it!

Maternity clothes wise - Topshop have some nice things in their maternity range at the moment, as do ASOS.com. You can also buy those things which expand your trousers waist line by putting a bit of fabric between your button and button hole which ought to keep you going for a few more weeks. Buying cheap dresses in Primark in a couple of sizes too big is also a help. I measured larger than carrying twins in my last pregnancy, but managed to wear Topshop leggins (not maternity) throughout (in my usual size) as they sit so low! Cheap too!

Hope you are all feeling OK on this sunny morning!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 30/04/2012 09:45

hi people

well i bought maternity jeans, leggins and a top this weekend, i couldn't stand my jeans anymore :) I'm only 6 +3 but ho hum, at least i'll get the wear out of them :) I'm wearing a maxi dress today which is lovely as i don't have anything pressing on my stomach!

sickness was awful yesterday, today its barable at the moment!

Hope everyone else is well!

PurplePidjin · 30/04/2012 09:59

My cow and gate email said that the mw might feel for the baby. I had a gentle press and am sure I can feel something, is it wishful thinking at 9+3??

brooke89 · 30/04/2012 10:26

Stacey I'm wearing maternity jeans too , so much comfier!

Grin just got back from the epu and saw my little bean with a strong heartbeat! Can't believe the relief I feel after that!

Hope everyone is well Smile

lauraloo09 · 30/04/2012 10:47

morning everyone sorry not been on over the weekend was working last night and saturday night for my dad doing home deliveries for a local take-away and im knackered. nausea and sickness still hanging around sometimes in the morning but it mostly hits me from 5pm onwards. i keep feeling to see if i can find the start of a bump and i swear i can but it may just be bloatedness as I'm only 8+4.

i have started to look and different baby things and i have already started to look at a pram. not sure what to do tho i have a quinny buzz 4 which i used with DD and i did like it only prob i had was with the size of shopping basket and size when folded down...not sure whether to stick with that or sell it and whatever i make put it towards a new pram. i was looking at Mothercare Movix or Silver Cross Surf but should I spend in the region of £600 for a new pram when I know that this is my last baby (DH and I only want 2) lovely ladies looking for opinions here :)

RhubarbCrumbled · 30/04/2012 11:35

So hungry...just having my third breakfast...I think I'll be joining you all in maternity clothes sooner rather than later!

PurplePidjin · 30/04/2012 12:10

Me too, rhubarb. Crunchy nuts for breakfast, rice cakes and sliced chicken for elevenses... Is it lunchtime yet?

blackcurrants · 30/04/2012 12:16

Heh, I was wondering how fast I could get back into my luffly maternity jeans. Weighed myself last night and haven't put on any weight but I feel bloaty as anything. Last time I think about half of the weight I put on was water retention, I certainly spent the first week of DS's life peeing gallons. This time I won't be doing my last trimester in the searing heat so that might help I suppose.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 30/04/2012 12:52

Hello everyone

Laura I say go for it with the pram if you can, it will be used almost every day for at least two years (if you use it as much as me). I had a mothercare my3 last time and it was bloody awful so I think I'm going for a silver cross this time too (fingers crossed). We're not having any more dc's after this one either. FYI mothercare are in trouble and their customer service was appalling when my my3 broke so I wouldn't recommend them, I don't know about silver cross yet but will be googling for reviews.

I lost one of my acupressure bands a couple of days ago and felt the most sick I've ever felt the day afterwards, I think they really work for me so had to fine some more out here. We were at the magic kingdom at the time and rides were not fun, I just wanted to be in bed :(

Before we came here I took a very good trip to primark as my old dresses weren't fitting so that's great advice.

9 weeks today, woo hoo!

Chloe55 · 30/04/2012 13:11

Ooh just bought myself some of those bands strawberry, can't work out if they work yet-still feel nauseous but then I have just eaten so we'll see.

mwahmwah · 30/04/2012 14:28

Go for the pram lauraloo! Btw, if you're looking around the £600 mark, check out i-candy peach. Ours is in the 'sweetpea' colour and I absolutely love it. Easy to put together/ break down, super eyecatching, light to steer, big basket, seat goes forward and rearward. I can't recommend it enough x

kateand2boys · 30/04/2012 14:51

Strawberry you're going on rides?! Wow, I felt sick watching the DS's play MarioKart yesterday. Can't handle any kind of motion at all.

Laura GO for the pram, it's the best bit about being pregnant, all the pram testing Grin I am looking at the Quinny Buzz and an iCandy apple, we need something with decent tyres for walking the dogs and trekking around with the older two.

Rhubarb congratulations and welcome

COBJ so glad your in laws are pleased. We're telling mine at the weekend, I think MIL will take about a week to recover from the shock.

Cookies I don't know what to suggest this isn't an issue for us at the moment, I don't think DH relishes the prospect of being puked on Grin

I can't believe you're all in maternity clothes already, I'm trying to stay out of them for as long as possible. From experience, I will hate those clothes in December and happily set them alight, so I'm hoping to hold off until about 15 weeks, maybe 18 if I'm lucky, so I don't have as long to endure them for.

I'm Envy at all of you that can eat. I can barely look at food, let alone eat any. I've eaten next to nothing all day and that doesn't look like changing any time soon. I feel so sick all the time, but hate actually being sick, so am frantically trying to swallow it down all the time.

On a happier note, seeing the midwife tomorrow, so will hopefully find out about scans and stuff then.

Bellaboo123 · 30/04/2012 15:53

Afternoon all...hope all is well!

I'm having a day off work today and doing nothing - bliss!!!! Grin

Has anyone started using any creams/oils to prevent stretch marks...any recommendations?

Pelvic floor exercises...I keep forgetting...grrrr

I'm rhesis negative blood type does anyone know how this affects the pregnancy I know u have some injections...nice!

Clarella · 30/04/2012 16:30

kateand that sounds horrid - hope it begins to ease soon.

lauraloo no idea about prams, it sounds nice though. Will be keen to read any advice on prams anyone has!

clothes - Thank god its not just me, but soooo annoyed my hips are the bit that is expanding! Is that supposed to happen?!? Struggling in any of my trousers for work or home so just bought some topshop trousers - technically skinny black jeans - but really smart material, soooo comfy. was trying so hard not to but I reckon ill be able to wear after as well (lots of imaginary tummy expanding done in shop). I hope its all going to migrate to my tummy at some point!

Curse you lovely sainsburies bloomer on sat night and half a packet of special k this morning.

Do you reckon its possible to loose a suddenly gained inch or two on the hips while preggo?! Cue manic squatting regime.

Had bloods done for this slapped cheek thing and also rubella again as a precaution - would actually rather be at work as less chance to nibble incessantly!

Cycling to yoga tonight!

bellaboo palmers do a special preg cream, or their mega basic cocoa butter in a pot (v pure n cheaper) and I like the jergens cocoa butter as seem to ha(watch out for offers in boots). I noticed some creams in preg bit of boots said only in 2nd trimester. It's going on my boobs and MASSIVE ARSE at the mo!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 30/04/2012 16:33

Kate yep but the rides are for children so not rollercoasters, like a little boat trip and a Winnie the pooh ride, we went to universal studios yesterday and there were no rides suitable for me so I shopped instead :)

Bella I'm using a clarins oil which smells lovely! They also have cream which you can use combined with the oil. My stretch marks were horrendous last time but have faded well using the oil.

gilsbubbles · 30/04/2012 17:17

Hi everyone! Well back from our washout of a weekend! Slept for a good 3 hours and need to sleep more! Luckily dh got on and sorted the other 4 and unpacked case so only the shopping for next week left!

Sickness isn't as bad yet as was with my other pregnancies but still there, boons need strapping down each day just so their bearable! Dh hasnt had a sight of them for at least 3 weeks now!

Booking in on Thursday so that'll be good, get things official and will hopefully get my scan date soon after!

I've worked out I should have my 20 week scan at the end of July so planning a shopping trip then for cute little outfits :)

CODwidow · 30/04/2012 17:35

Boobs not boons lol

NarcolepsyQueen · 30/04/2012 17:52

Hi ClaireB - congratulations!

Gils - it sounds like growing pains - I have those too! It usually means you are having a belly growth spurt!
