Early poas-er seeks other December 2012 due dates

I've just had the official confirmation from my digital clearblue test after many a faint line. I have calculated my due date as 5th December and conception started with a curry, how much information am I supposed to share? Boobs aren't sore yet, just a bit bigger. Have had a horrific cold/flu/sore throat for a week and I am very very irrational.

Anyone else out there?

prunella yes, really hurts doesn't it? I remember this from last time.

I told my boss today and she took it surprisingly well. I was expecting a strop.

ivanapoo · 19/04/2012 22:14

Stupid question but - how do you know your due date? I just used an online calculator based on 1st day of last period. Is there a more sophisticated method anywhere? (bar screening which currently seems a million years away)

FriendofDorothy · 19/04/2012 22:20

That's how I worked it out too.

MyDaydream · 19/04/2012 22:23

Not that I know of that's how my book says to work it out. Spent last night trying to explain this to DP who didn't get how I was 2 weeks pregnant before I was pregnant. Then didn't accept that it was easier to say that my last period was on X date rather than working out ovulation, because I wasn't pregnant on X date and we didn't have sex until X date so it must be from then. He over thinks things to the point he can't see the sense in it, this is a classic example. Dreading midwife appointments!

lauraloo09 · 19/04/2012 22:30

Evening all sorry for not keeping up cant believe we're on 908 messages already!! Welcome newbies going to be a lot of dec babies :)

Been rather ill tonight sick a few times :( just watched Louis Thereoux Autism programme and it was heartbreaking...poor kids and family. Got my midwife appointment tomorrow going to ask or an early scan here's hoping I get one :)

kiwi good luck or your scan tomorrow xx

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/04/2012 04:49

prunella i get pain when i sneeze, quite disconcerting really but ho hum, seems to be the norm!

my day dream when i fell pg with dd i was 17 and had been with her father 2 days (we later married and divorced, ho hum) but it took me a long time to explain to him, yes i was 6 weeks 'pregnant' by the docs standards and yes we had only been together 4 weeks, but yes she is definately his baby, men just dont 'get it'!!!

As you can probably tell i can't sleep, so have hung the washing out and cleaned the kitchen, god i wish i could sleep a full night but at least i can catch up here and not feel guilty about the fact i'm supposed to be working!

Felt really sick when hangin up the washing, think it was all the bending! Must get dd to do it instead although at 7yo she's not the most enthusiastic little housewife, esp as we havn't told the kids i'm pregnant yet so she doesn't know why i keep telling her to help!

Got 2 'bubblebum' car seats delivered today, they were primarily for our trip to dubai in Oct but having tried to fit babies car seat in the car with the kids boosters i thik they shall have to be a permanant fixture, or at least 1 of them, I am not buying a new car just yet!!!

Right i am scooting off to bed to see if i can grab another 2 hours sleep before the monsters wake!

MyDaydream · 20/04/2012 07:47

Oh tell me about him not getting it. He's been a bit weird since I showed him the test, and has got this look on his face when I've mentioned it. Today he says "if you are pregnant". Pointed out I was and he'd seen the test. He didn't realise that meant definitely pregnant.

Barbeasty · 20/04/2012 08:32

MyDaydream DH was pretty clueless last time, but understands a bit more now. But I told my dad yesterday, and he couldn't understand how I found out on Easter Sunday because surely the doctors weren't open! He was shocked that doctors just trust you and don't test again, and as for how you work out the due date- his girlfriend and I gave up!

Poor DH had spent most of yesterday persuading his mum I wasn't pregnant (without actually lying) and then I went and said he could tell her! I decided that she would guess tonight anyway, when I don't drink at the pub.

He phoned her, and has given her the impression that he had only just found out!

YikesHereWeGo · 20/04/2012 08:45

kiwi - good luck for today! Mine tomorrow. Eek
lauraloo - hope mw appt goes well.
I'm afraid I'm with the lads on the wanting some better way of calculating EDD so I came up with my own 'formula' based on (a) when i got my first faint BFP on a test that said it could show results 6 days before missed period, (b) date of implantation (which I felt), (c) dates i knew I'd done the deed, (d) average cycle length over past 4 months. Using the 'standard' boring method (LMP + 28 day cycle) my EDD is 29 Nov but that sounds way too early. Do you think the mw will insist on that date??

FriendofDorothy · 20/04/2012 08:51

Oh I had horrible dreams last night, mainly about miscarrying, so when I woke up I had to rush to the loo and check. Silly.

The Mister told his parents last night. It was really sweet because he started talking to them about coming over to visit because we might have a house by then and it would be lovely to see them, and 'oh you migt want to meet your grandchild who should have arrived by then'. They are very happy.

I think my mother-in-law is already thinking about knitting things!

StateofConfusion · 20/04/2012 09:15

Hello everyone, may I join.

I got my bfp this morning after 2wks of being convinved af would arrive tomorrow Smile I had a mmc at 14wks in December so I'm stupidly anxious.

This will be a much longed for dc.3, I have an almost 5yo ds and a 3yo dd, worked out my dd to be between the 14th and 20th of December (bit irregular since mc)

So far I feel sick, tired, boobs hurt and the spots on my neck are big enough for their own pulse!

PrunellaDeVille · 20/04/2012 11:14

bit astonished, just stood on the scales - thinking i'd been eating very sensibly, better than usual certainly - but they told me i've put on 7/8 kilos in the last two weeks. Is this the extra blood?
i've been pretty consistent in weight for years so this is a major change.

morning all, welcome state
yikes that seems a very convoluted way of working it out, must have been odd feeling implantation

Parker23 · 20/04/2012 13:24

Hellooo people! Can I join in too! I got a BFP on Wednesday!
By my calculations baby will be due...
25th DECEMBER!!!
DD1 was born 28th December 2010 after 18 months of trying. We didn't really want another December baby but when we started trying for number 2 we though it was best to just go for it in case it takes a long time again!! Doh!
DD1 was one week early though so who knows when this one will arrive?

I was VERY sickly with DD1 so hoping I won't feel like that again! Not feeling bad so far but very early days! Don't know how I'll cope with a toddler and 24hr nausea!

Gutted I'll miss out on all the yummy French wine and cheese on my hols too! Was sooo looking forward to it! Keep telling myself it's all worth it!

Good luck everyone! Xx

nocluenoclueatall · 20/04/2012 13:43

Please can I join you ladies? I POAS last week but wasn't quite certain (definite blue line, but fainter than the control line) then did another this week and got a BFP. Due date is 17th December (which would be a week after DC1's birthday)... Am so so happy, but very cautious. I had a MMC in December and it was heartbreaking so fingers crossed this little bean sticks.

I haven't told anyone but DP yet, so it's nice to share the excitement with someone - even if that someone is 900 complete strangers.

blackcurrants · 20/04/2012 13:57

Welcome, Parker and Noclue, and congratulations! :)
In the glamorous world of my life what's new is that DS woke us up at 5.30 with a streaming cold, and my dog is constipated and looking really sorry for herself.

Basically, it's been a viscous sort of day. So far I'm holding on to my breakfast (strips of bacon and avocados, cup of tea), but I'm thinking I might take my supplements later on, when things are more settled.
How's everyone doing?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/04/2012 14:39

welcome newbies :) well i'm nearly finished work for the week so shall not be on the comp over the weekend, hope all you girls have a good 1!

As for me i have an 18mile training walk tomo morning (entered in the London Moonwalk on 12th may, 26.2 miles overnight, eeeek) and i'm really not looking forward to my 6.30 am alaram, esp as woke up at 2.10 am this morning and didn't get back to sleep until 5.30! But i shall soldier on! Then off to collect little tadpoles buggy and car seat i managed to get on ebay for a steal on Sunday so that will be exciting :)

Have a nice weekend everyone!

nocluenoclueatall · 20/04/2012 14:50

Thank you! I feel nauseous but not in a satisfyingly florid chucking-up-my-breakfast sort of a way, more feeling a bit meh. Also, tired. So so so very tired. We're moving house and redecorating at the moment so it's a world of stress and solvent-based paints for me unfortunately. Am striving to maintain an air of calm (with as many windows open as possible) whilst simultaniously worrying if anyone else is noticing that I'm not lifting anything / doing any of the painting or indeed actual work myself.

Enjoying feeling pregnant though. This is my third time round and each time I've just felt so contented, despite the physical problems... Long may it last. (with luck at least another 34 weeks please)

nocluenoclueatall · 20/04/2012 14:53

PS good luck Stacey. My, but that's a lot of walking. I too am getting my old friend preghead insomnia back again... no fun when you've small people wanting to wake up early to DO THINGS early doors is it? Why is this by the way, does anyone know? WHAT IS THE POINT OF IT? Seriously.

StateofConfusion · 20/04/2012 17:00

noclue I had a mmc in december too, its nerve wracking hey! I'm doing the 'stay calm at all costs' and being super careful, fingers crossed we both have sticky beans :)

StrawberrytallCAKE · 20/04/2012 17:04

Yes agree with the small people thing.

I can't believe I started a thread that is this busy and do threads stop at 1000 messages? I guess it was always going to be quite busy!!! :)

I'm going for a scan tomorrow just for reassurance as we're going away on Wednesday (flight thurs) and want to check everything is where it needs to be. Really hope to see a heartbeat too, I'm quite nervous.

OP posts:
kiwi5 · 20/04/2012 17:05

cherrypiew3 · 20/04/2012 17:12

Welcome to the newbies and congratulationsSmile

Think the sickness is starting to kick have felt rotten today. Had my GP appointment yesterday he checked me over but because we have moved I have to have an appointment with my new dr before I can book in with a mw. So have another dr's appointment on Tuesday it all seems very slow going.

Hope everyone is feeling well.
