Early poas-er seeks other December 2012 due dates

I've just had the official confirmation from my digital clearblue test after many a faint line. I have calculated my due date as 5th December and conception started with a curry, how much information am I supposed to share? Boobs aren't sore yet, just a bit bigger. Have had a horrific cold/flu/sore throat for a week and I am very very irrational.

Anyone else out there?

Sorry to hear what's been going on lauraloo, hope all ok ?

Dillydolly and other worries (of whom I may be queen) I do keep reminding myself of my teaching assistant who reckoned her last pregnancy was never picked up by tests and only confirmed as she went into labour...... (apparently - though is a frequent staffroom tale!)

Ha keep us informed pidg!

Are any of the non-sick peeps taking a preg multivitamin? It may have extra b6 which helps keep sickness low - I think???

Grrr school tomorrow.

kateand2boys · 15/04/2012 17:49

Lauraloo, hope all is well the boy who drowned and that your brother and family are ok too.

Clarella, are you a teacher? If so are you going to tell your head soon or wait until after the scan? No school for me until Tuesday, I only work 3 afternoons. Not going to tell my head yet, but keep an ear to the ground about what bugs are around at the moment.

I don't feel very pregnant today either, although this morning's test said I was. It was the last one I have though, so I'll have nothing else to go on now. I feel very anxious with this one and I don't get to see my GP until the 30th, so I won't book in with the midwife until after that, so a scan is even further away unless we pay, which I think we will. To put my mind at rest, poor dh is living with a timebomb.

I think ds2 knows something is up, he has been very clingy today and has followed me around like I have a new shadow. He is quite on the ball so it wouldn't surprise me. The day before we brought home the new dog as a surprise, he announced he thought we should get a new dog and that he didn't like being the youngest and could he have a sister the day after I had my coil out. I might be coincidence, he is only 6 Grin

backwardpossom · 15/04/2012 18:03

I'm a teacher, too, and I think I'll leave it a bit before I tell my HT. I'm secondary. I've got an easy term coming up as my seniors will all be on exam leave soon... I only work 3 days, and my midwife appts will be on a wed which is my day off so they shouldn't suspect anything any time soon. Mind you, if I suffer from morning sickness, maybe I will have to tell them!

VegemiteSandwich · 15/04/2012 18:18

My tummy is still feeling pretty normal. In fact, better than normal (I suffer from IBS) in spite of my extra dairy intake (I'm aiming for 3-4 serves a day. Does that sound like a good amount? I might go look it up in one of my many books).

I'm thinking that either a) I'm super lucky b) it'll come soon enough or c) it's because I've been drinking a weird amount of lemon and ginger tea (weird craving!) and I eat vegemite perhaps every second day.

I'm hoping that it's c) but suspect that it's more likely to be b).

Also: I read somewhere not to drink more than 3 types of any one type of herbal tea, and I would easily drink double that if I let myself. I can get that some natural herbs etc can be dangerous, but do you reckon copious amounts of ginger and lemon are likely to be problematic? The thing is, all I fancy drinking at the moment is my lemon and ginger tea! I tried to buy some other type in the supermarket the other day but none of them interested me one little bit.

PrunellaDeVille · 15/04/2012 18:21

pysched myself up today to tell db and sil, they've just announced they're 10 weeks so snuck in ahead (am i wrong to be just a bit miffed by that? really happy for them but not enamoured by the timing (it'll be their dc2)). they cancelled at the last minute and i was gutted not to be able to tell someone.

settling back with a beck's blue for the afternoon now - they're actually very pleasant and help curb the longing for a beer.

CODwidow · 15/04/2012 18:25

I have been taking a multivitamin as I always seem to suffer with low iron but not sure what to do at the mo as it is making me soo constipated. I've not taken it today and already feel better for it.

I already feel as if I'm nesting early I know but I feel like I need to get the house sorted. May have more to do with having all 4 boys at home for 2 weeks so looking forward to having a little peace and a tidy house for a few hours rather than minutes! :)

whatmess · 15/04/2012 18:47

COD I've been taking a pregnancy vitamin for a while now. Yes it does make me constipated but all the extra water I'm drinking seems to be helping a bit.
Funny what you say about nesting, I thought that normally came just before labour, but when I read your post, I suddenly realised I've spent today cleaning the kitchen and dining room. Even went so far as to scrub the skirting boards. I think I just want the house clean and I'm a bit worried that as I get bigger I'll find it harder to do things. If only everyone in this house was of the same mind...

Margie32 · 15/04/2012 18:59

Thanks for the advice shangers, will def go with the antibiotics excuse and hope that my already ridiculously bloated tummy doesn't give me away!

Oh I reckon the antibiotics is a dead giveaway Grin I'd blame a hangover or a health kick instead... Or just accept a glass and never drink any?

We told the PILs this weekend. BIL and SIL have just hit the 12 week mark so we are a little behind them (bit like you Prunella except this is their first too).

Sooo... those of you who have constipation (like me)... best tips for getting things moving? Blush

nasara · 15/04/2012 19:07

I'm a teacher, too, and have been umming and arring about whether to tell my head sooner or later - I can arrange ante-natal appointments on the days I don't work, so no need to tell for that reason, but I guess there is a slight risk of certain viruses, so I'm not sure.

FriendofDorothy · 15/04/2012 19:20

I wish I could nest! We are currently living with my parents and are planning to buy a house in the summer. They are ridiculously expensive over here though so it is just a case of getting our heads around how much we are going to have to pay!

CODwidow · 15/04/2012 20:07

I'm with you there I think I just want it all up together for the stage when I'm struggling to see the floor let alone pick things up!

I've been drinking lots more water and I guess it's not that bad but am having some trouble going which in turn makes me bloated and uncomfortable.

Vegemite I love green tea and have bought a decaf but worried about drinking too much of that but not read anywhere that it's dangerous so just limiting myself a little.

My mum, sister and best friend know but not telling mil just yet and it's not too hard as we don't see her much probably once a month so it'll be quite easy. I'm lucky that I work for my step dad so he already knows and not a problem.

I'm hoping the time will start hurrying up now and I'll have things to occupy me with the boys back and back to work. I know it's awful but just wishing the next few weeks away.

I'm a teacher and I'm going to have to tell my head this week as my 1st midwife appointment is on Weds in school time. She'll be great about it though and I know I can trust her to keep it to herself.

JingleBellBaby · 15/04/2012 21:19

COD with DC#1 the midwives recommended Spatone or the Floradix liquid iron (from plant extracts so they aren't supposed to have the constipation side effect) if it was just for a bit of a boost rather than a clinical need for seriously low iron levels. Wonder if that would make a difference?

CODwidow · 15/04/2012 21:27

Thank you problem is I can't take iron in liquid or tablet form on its own as it gives me terrible stomach cramps and sickness, odd I know but seems I can only take it in multivitamin form, can't win!! Lol :)

backwardpossom · 15/04/2012 21:35

When pregnant with DS, I was really constipated - midwife recommended Lactulose. Really really helped! You can buy it at the chemist x

CODwidow · 15/04/2012 21:42

May have to try that, oh the joys!! Lol

PrunellaDeVille · 15/04/2012 21:55

nesting? maybe just a bit - i just bought a new bed on ebay, oopsBlush

Clarella · 15/04/2012 22:52

I've given up trying to work out which herbal tea is or isn't ok - websites and books totally contradict one another! I seem to want orangy based ones but they are mostly rose hip anyway, and am loving a rosehip one from sainsburies which is 50 % rosehip and 50% hibiscus - again 2 different sources said diff things.

I've decided to simply steer clear of what I know has real effects eg valerian and just limit to a few cups. I usually love redbush but gone off :(

Ditto necking pregnacare - think I missed it today ( so took folic on own) and I think I could stand more stuff actually!

Yup a teacher but teach autistic children who are very unpredictable and we have some quite major behaviour difficulties so told my team at 4 weeks (bit early now I think about it but had to ask to miss staff meeting for docs) - I also take the children for rebound therapy ( trampolining) and most of mine need me to power the bed (bounce them) plus grapple with them when they get a bit wild. I love it but all guidelines say don't in preg though can't find out why. Bit worried about going back, more because of peoples attitudes, some get hyper protective and some say 'you're not ill.' Some love the gossip of 'what the head said about x,y and z and isn't it terrible' All I'm bothered about is the lack of breaks and trying to get drinks (one throws cups and the tap tops are locked away as 2 like to flood - lol and that's just the SMT!). But they are gorgeous and I get to bake a lot :)

2 will be ecstatic this term as they've developed a major thing for the jubilee :)

Shangers · 16/04/2012 02:24

Sounds like there's going to be a few people "on antibiotics" for a few weeks!

I should be able to hide for a while as my friends here all have small children/babies so are not big drinkers -not sure why they are my friends!- and by the time i next see my family -and dh's Irish family which is far far worse!- I'll be just over 12 weeks - good timing i think!

To those of you who are on DC2, 3, 4etc - when and how are you telling your other kids? My DS is nearly 3 and I keep hearing that he really won't understand it yet and I am trying not to talk about it with my DH in his hearing because I know he (DS not DH!) will go out and tell everyone! but he's quite an active boy and likes climbing on me so I've told him he has to be careful of Mummy's tummy but he isn't really being - I have to keep catching him about to whack me there! and I also feel kind of weird telling the rest of the family in a few weeks and not telling him that he's going to be a big brother (which he's going to love I think considering how obsessed he is with his dolly at the moment!

JingleBellBaby · 16/04/2012 08:19

Once I've told my boyfriend - probably later on today (eeeek! and deep breathing) - I'm probably going to be pretty open about it. An awful lot of my friends and family know about the miscarriage I had, and I'd probably talk to them about it if it happened again. Won't make a big announcement, but if it comes up from going out and only accepting one small drink then having juice, or the fact I can't get up in the mornings from being too sleepy (not that this is all that unusual for me) I won't hide it either.

Same with DD. I know she wants a sibling, and she's that much older this time that I'll probably tell her that I'm trying to grow a baby which is why I'm tired and can't rough play as much (but that it doesn't work every time in a very matter of fact way, just in case and probably using those words rather than talking about loss or miscarriage). But she's that bit older and will understand that it's a private thing for now.

ChangeMyHappy · 16/04/2012 08:30

Hi, I've just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant with 2nd, after 18 months of trying and a miscarriage last September. Think due date will be around 18th December!
Feeling more positive this time than I did last year, but completely paranoid that lack of symptoms mean it's all in my mind Confused
I can't book in at the midwives clinic until I'm 6 weeks, and they'll see me at around 10 (if everything sticks this time), so plenty more time to drive myself (and DH & DD) completely insane!
I'm slowly catching up on the whole thread, but hoped if I join it may make it feel a bit more real Wink

JingleBellBaby · 16/04/2012 08:44

Congratulations ChangeMyHappy!

ChangeMyHappy · 16/04/2012 09:03

Thanks Jingle, still can't take it in! Did I see you're due on Christmas day? That would be a present and a half!
