Early poas-er seeks other December 2012 due dates

StrawberrytallCAKE · 24/03/2012 16:03

I've just had the official confirmation from my digital clearblue test after many a faint line. I have calculated my due date as 5th December and conception started with a curry, how much information am I supposed to share? Boobs aren't sore yet, just a bit bigger. Have had a horrific cold/flu/sore throat for a week and I am very very irrational.

Anyone else out there?

The sat before I had my bfp we went to legoland and I went on all the big rides and to top it off when I got home I had a bottle of wine! Oops.

Cookies I had a gender scan at 16 wks with my last ds that was nice as it also broke up the wait from 12-20 as well. Private scans are always lovely anyway!

Dh will want to know the sex again but Id quite like to wait ( until we get there and I change my mind!Blush

ScrambledSmegs · 11/04/2012 16:18

YES!!!!

What's this about vitamin A though? Has that always been the case? I'm pretty sure it's not in my floradix but have to go check.

Have had the occasional cheeky wine though. Just a sip or two, as last time we were so unsubtle everyone worked it out from the get-go Blush This time we want to keep it quiet for as long as possible.

PurplePidjin · 11/04/2012 16:45

I was pissed and prancing around on stage around 2weeks after conception (St Paddy's day, I play a bit of fiddle). My dr seemed quite impressed that I'd already started the vitamins by the time I saw her though!

I'm in the middle of the South coast if anyone wants a crochet/knitting lesson :) I've had lots of practice at blankets

Clarella · 11/04/2012 16:47

Yes I was delighted I could eat stilton at the weekend! Mum said she wasnt allowed black pepper in her day.

lauraloo I do capoeira and have been a little confused at what I can and can't do, to make matters worse I am organising the massive weekend event in 3 weeks time using my school hall, and we usually have to make an effort to train up for it. Confused My friends and I have succeeded in making it the Womens Institute version of capoeira at times (yeah they couldn't turn down the £200 quid we raised at the Cakes for Capoeira stall) so it is possible to sit on the side lines moaning about joint pain (my current excuse)and I can 'do the music' (badly) but I do love it! I emailed my poor old teacher. He didnt reply!

minipie · 11/04/2012 17:03

Stacks my local hospital (in london) has a walk in early pregnancy unit where you can get an early scan if you want. No need for a referral from GP, just turn up. Maybe your local hospital has the same thing? if so then you could go get a scan straight away and put your mind at rest.

ItsMyLastOne · 11/04/2012 17:06

Purple I had a few drinks around st Patrick's day too, but I think mine might have helped the conception along! Wink

Is anyone else finding they can't remember anything from last time? DD is only 18 months but I've already forgotten what I can and can't have, and what vitamins to take. Confused

CODwidow · 11/04/2012 17:15

I already have 4 ds's the youngest being 3.5 and I don't really remember the early days especially. I'm taking pregnacare as my iron always seem to drop in pregnancy.

I'm very tempted to have a early scan but as I'm not seeing mw til 3/5 I guess I'll still have to wait at least another month! A little disappointed as so worried because of mc but hey trying to stay positive so back to pram researching !

Stacks · 11/04/2012 17:20

Afternoon all. Well I went along for the blood test. It was all a bit rushed and excitable which added to the worry. The thing is, I went in this morning just to tell her I was pg, and to mention off-handedly that I'd like an early scan (mostly because I can't believe it's real yet) so to help my case along I asked about eptopic pgs with my history of abdominal surgery.
The doctor was very relaxed while I was there, took some notes, and said she'd get some advice from the Early Preg Support but probably nothing would happen till I was at least 8 weeks, as it's hard to tell before then where an embryo has settled. So I left feeling relaxed and just waiting for contact/8 weeks.
Half way through lunch she phoned to say the EPS had said I must have my bloods taken today and again on Friday to check the levels, and for rate of change. It couldn't be put off till the morning, and I had to come in. So.. I had to rearrange meetings and rush through work for the morning, get to the docs, give blood, then call into a conference call!

Anyway, long story short long. I gave blood, they'll check every couple of days until it reaches 1-2 thousand, which will show the embryo is big enough to show up on a scan. If the numbers climb slowly, or are low, or climb then stall, they'll worry more. No one assured me my risk was low.. I think it is low though. Problem is I only have one tube, and if I lose that all chances of natural conception from here on in are gone. So I'm glad they're taking it seriously, and it makes me less worried for the most part.

Brew
minipie · 11/04/2012 18:21

Glad they are monitoring closely stacks.

I'm surprised you were told they can't check for ectopic till 8 weeks though. I had a scan on Tuesday when I was at 6 weeks (or actually a couple of days less) due to some early bleeding and the sonographer told me it was def not ectopic. In fact I could see myself on the screen, the gestational sac was down towards the bottom of my uterus, nowhere near ovaries or tubes. . I thought I'd read that they can see the sac from about 5 weeks onwards.

Ectopic is very very rare, yes it's higher in women with known tubal issues, but it's still very rare even then. I am sure your magic bean will be right where it's supposed to be Smile.

backwardpossom · 11/04/2012 18:22

Glad they're being thorough, stacks

QueenandKingMum · 11/04/2012 18:30

Thinking of you stacks x

QueenandKingMum · 11/04/2012 18:32

Anyone here crazy bloated? Like a size bigger in the tummy? I know it's my 4th but I feel huge already

kateand2boys · 11/04/2012 18:36

stacks glad that they are being thorough, good for your doctor for ringing you and getting you in straight away. Sending good thoughts your way.

The food advice has changed in the last 7 years, but the restrictions don't bother me too much. It's what I could eat and can't face that bothers me more. I was always so sick, I just stuck with what I could. However, late on into pregnancy with ds2 I would have happily eaten soap powder washed down with a refreshing glass of petrolBlush Oh the joys.

I do have a ds2's pushchair still, but I want a new one, so will be asking for opinions and recommendations. The new one will have to able to go pretty much anywhere as we have dogs now that we didn't when the boys were babies and the boys like nothing more than a tramp around in the mud they will not want to give that up.

Of course what I'm also going to need is a new car and a new house as neither of the ones I have will be bog enough, so this will be a thrifty nine months so we can save for what we need.

COD you have 4 sons!!! WOW! I'm in awe of the patience and stamina that you must have in bucketloads Grin

Cookiesandcream06 · 11/04/2012 19:39

Oh stacks will be thinking of you, but the way I would look at it is at least you're being monitored which is reassuring you're in good hands.. But still sending lots of good thoughts your way plus

kate I need to start looking at bigger houses too! This has all happened so quickly that we were supposed to have more time for this sort of thing! At least our car is ok- one less expense.. So I better get the pram I really want... Wink
queen YES! I feel the size of a house for 5wks! SO bloated I couldn't do my jeans up this morning. I feel like everyone is already staring at my waistline thinking 'she's either eaten too many Easter eggs or she is up the duff again !'
minipie I had an early scan last time and from what I can remember you could see the sac @ 5 weeks and when I had one at 6 wks you could deff see a heart beat.
purple I want to knit and or crochet !! Also hoping keeping my hands busy in the evening will keep me away from the biscuits! I want to go and look at needles and wool before the weekend.. Any tips greatly received !!
COD yeh mines the next day, on the 4th. Seems ageess away when you think a scan will be a month after that nearly. God damn the impatience. I was lectured strongly by my mother last time that an early private scan or indeed any other private scan was a complete waste of money and it was a stupid idea. This time i'm 3 years older and am more determined that I do want one and I will have one! I went with a friend before for her 4D one and it was such an amazing experience.

PurplePidjin · 11/04/2012 19:58

Cookies, join Ravelry.com the next time you have a spare week couple of hours. Any wool you buy will tell you what size hook or needles, 4mm are the most common size and are useful for both Double Knit and 4 ply wool (the most common weights)

Baby weight wool tends to be slightly lighter weight than "regular". Go for natural fibres, or a nice mix. The MN blankets are a mixture of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino and Rowan Cashsoft, chosen because it's machine washable, hardwearing and beautiful quality. It's fabulous to work with, too, I'm utterly ruined for cheap acrylic Grin

Most wool departments will have at least one person who knows what they're talking about - southampton john Lewis certainly do, although I'm a staunch supporter of local traders so would be more likely to use an independent retailer!

I have a stash of wool and hooks (beginner knitter) If you want to meet up and play :)

StrawberrytallCAKE · 11/04/2012 20:11

I'm really pleased they are looking after you Stacks

Purple I started knitting a few months ago and learnt by watching youtube videos but only the real basics, any tips on how to further my knowledge?

Stacks- Will be thinking about you x

Anyone else feeling miserably nauseous all day yet? Sad

Spent the entire day expecting to throw up - but havnt yet. I'm hoping it happens soon, so i can feel better!

Been to docs too for a blood test- exposure to chicken pox and I'm not sure if I'm immune or not. Hope I am.

Boots have buy two get one free on all vitamins so if anyone needs to stock up on pregnacare (as I did yday), go for it!

PurplePidjin · 11/04/2012 20:25

Teajunky, ditto with the nausea. I can't be arsed to do anything, but I'm not "ill" so ought to be sorting the house out etc Confused luckily dp is insisting I rest, and is grateful just to have his dinner in the oven when he gets in (he spent the first 2y of our relationship working from home, and my dinner was on the table every night, dishwasher run and emptied and laundry clean and dry. I'm now out of work and he commutes so it's the least I can do. I'm not a Stepford wife, honest!!)

Strawberry - and other knitters - find your local wool shop and ask questions. They tend to be populated by obsessive experts Grin

roseandroli · 11/04/2012 20:27

Stacks I'm so glad to hear they are monitoring you. Thinking of you.

I taught myself to knit a few months ago because all my friends were having babies and I wanted to knit booties for them. Glad I can now apply my (very rudimentary) skills to my own! I recommend the book Knitty Gritty--it's great for absolute beginners.

I am definitely having an early scan! I keep taking pregnancy tests (four so far) because I have no symptoms and I just can't believe I'm pregnant. If I can convince my GP to let me have one on the NHS, I will, otherwise I will save my pennies and do it privately. Minipie can you tell me which London hospital you had your early scan at?

We are moving to Hackney for a bit more space and to be closer to DH's office. Not sure what the hospital situation is there--we might try and do a tour soon before deciding.

kiwi5 · 11/04/2012 20:28

Well my second early scan showed a yolk sac, but I have to again for another scan next Friday. They think ism a week later than my dates. It's wierd cos Ian pretty sure of dates of lmp and the necessary deeds! So am now panicking that there is something wrong that they aren't telling me or that it isn't growing properly. I was never this worried with dd.
On the food front, am craving burgers big style and earl grey tea. Super tired, but have been baby sitting niece and neph as well as dd. going to work tomorrow for a break!!
Sleep tight all xx
