Too / Pomme last night we had 2 feeds between midnight and 6, well really between 10pm (when we went to bed and 8am when I got up. We also had a few periods of him being a lot bit snotty so I'd have to let him lie sort of upright on me until his nose would clear a bit (and then make sure I stayed awake!)

I would say on average though that we normally have 2 or 3 feeds overnight.

Still anxiously waiting for news of baby Fishcake......

hope fishcake is back having her tea and toast now and all went well.

Re nye, sorry but i've never heard of it, it just makes me think of New Years Eve! I think a lot about choosing names really depends on what your surname is, as i know some people have chosen names for their babies that really don't go with their surnames, which personally i wouldn't have chosen for that reason if nothing else.

Hope dream is enjoying her last day before the chaos commences!!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 03/04/2012 13:57

Jen your in Cornwall aren't you? River? Eh what?

Ah yes New Years Eve I don't think there is anything that wouldn't go with the surname tbh And we should all be thankful of Nye Bevan founder of the NHS whatever political persuasion you may have. :)

I did have a fancy for Thelonious too... hehe

Wants3 · 03/04/2012 14:43

Well, I had a restful morning ( sort of) but no uni work will get done today as I now need to go into work and let someone in to take away the old playhouse and check on what the builders and bathroom fitters have been doing today! I am out all day tomorrow so uni will have to wait until Thursday now! i am not procrastinating really
Come on fishcake

pommedechocolat · 03/04/2012 14:59

Forgot about Cornwall doh! I am on the south coast Smile

We've been thinking of names and I wanted to run our suggestions by you. So far we have Stephen John for a boy and either Natalie, Natasha or Nicola for a girl (DH wants it to begin with N for some reason). Haven't managed to think of any middle names for girls though. Our surname is 2 syllables and begins with B if that helps to see how they flow.

no news from fishcake yet?! Disappointed, hope all really good though and its just newborn snuggle time Grin.

Help- I'm having a names wibble - did a thread- names
What do you guys think? I know we don't need them named instantaneously but want to know whether to work really hard on DH again!

purple, hope the tongue tie stretches out... but as you say, a snip isn't the end of the world. My friends' babys' stretched out beautifully. I prefer Hugo to Nye. I would alays wonder what Nye was short for, and what it meant etc etc. But I;ve always liked Hugo anyway, so may just be biased (and obviously Hugo may be off the list altogether now). POst natal thread for you- graduates

Jen- I love Natasha, like Nicola, nothing wrong with Natalie! Stephen John good strong boys name Smile

Howdy all!

I was soooooooooooo hoping for news from Fishcake! Hope everything's okay and she has a chance to update us soon. I haven't heard anything from my RL friend who went into labour last night either. I had a couple of updates in the eve but nothing today. I'm No Brooking super hard that both Fishcake and my friend are all done and currently relaxing/sleeping with gorgeous newborns with them.

I had a great chat with my imw today, going through all the various things to consider ahead of my consultant appt tomorrow. I have a much clearer idea of what I want and the questions I need to ask. In a bizarre way I'm looking forward to this appt, if it goes well it will be a HUGE weight off my shoulders and I feel like I can take a step back from worrying about the birth and start to really look forward to meeting my baby! I don't want to imagine what I'll feel like if the appt doesn't go well.

Scarlet have you met with your friend yet? I'm curious as to what position your LO is currently in. No Brooking for your baby to get head down asap! If I get my cs booked in tomorrow, and authorisation in my notes to go straight to cs in the event of early labour, I will be back on my ball immediately after the appt and boucing around until this baby is ready to fall out!! I am already imagining the super hot curry I'll be having for dinner tomorrow... Grin

Dream how are you holding up for your last day? Hope you're having a nice time with your DD, this is the last time you two girls will outnumber the men in your household! Grin

Loving all the name chat. Nye seems very unusual to me, and I love it for that reason. I generally prefer anything a little out of the ordinary, although I can also see why so many of the classics reach classic status - simply because they're lovely! I haven't heard any names put forward by the No Brookers so far that I haven't liked. We all clearly have great taste! Grin

I've mentioned before that DH and I have settled on Autumn Serena as the first/second name combo for our LO. I would prefer to have a shortlist but we literally couldn't find any other names we both agreed on! Serena is already a compromise - I prefer Selena. However DH prefers August to Autumn, so we're both compromising! Every now and then I have a little wibble over the fact that I can't figure out any nicknames for 'Autumn'. However I've been telling myself it doesn't matter because people have nicknames based on a entirely random things, and often nothing to do with their actual name. I'm hoping we will end up with a nickname for the baby that just grows organically, perhaps from a habit she has or a particular event. I don't think we'll call her 'Autumn' in full all day every day. If this baby somehow, despite all my checking, turns out to be a boy we're really screwed because we CANNOT agree on boys names at all!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/04/2012 16:24

Oops didn't realise that was such a mammoth post!

Good to see Dream - heading over to the names thread now...

DreamingOfPeace · 03/04/2012 16:27

I think you're definitely having a girl scream! and Autumn Serena is lovely. Don't wibble! I don't really have a shortlist. Well, I do but not that dh agrees on...

Last day going ok so far- lovely morning out wih DD and my dad (needing help now though, my poor dad is driving 100 miles every day this week to help with DD). Took her to the Butterfly House at a local park, and they have mini beasts, birds etc too, and she had a ball. Seems fine today too, 24 hour illnes?! Now I'm trying to sort out nanny tax, and hospital bag is next job.

In fact must do now!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 03/04/2012 16:32

Ooo I think Autumn's lovely, scream and it's on my MN shortlist too which will no doubt be vetoed in its entirety by DH when the time comes Hmm

(August is a bit starchy, imho - Autumn is much, much nicer :o )

pommedechocolat · 03/04/2012 16:35

Love Natasha jen!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/04/2012 16:37

Good luck with the last minute packing Dream! Also three cheers for your lovely Dad for being such a champion support and driving all that way! Sometimes I get all teary when I think about how much help my parents, especially my Mum, have already given me during this pregnancy. When DH and I were living in Australia I always said I would have to return home before having kids because I couldn't imagine having my first child without family support, and it's turned out to be so true!

As for the names on your names thread Dream, I love your shortlist! For me the initials SAS for Seb would be cool! I love it! That's a point FOR not AGAINST! For the second twin, I like the suggestion someone made of substituting Benedict for Benjamin - how do you feel about that? It's so similar but just slightly more uncommon. Out of your shortlist which your DH has vetoed I ADORE Finnian! I would definitely raise that again with your DH and see if you can talk him round! Benjamin (or Benedict) is still a good strong name though, and if that's the compromise you end up with I think you've still done well.

Wants3 · 03/04/2012 17:22

pomme I am on the south coast!
Off over to the name thread now, all the names on here so far have been nice. Even though we have been thinking of one name for a while I still feel I need a shortlist just in case but nothing has jumped out yet!

farfallarocks · 03/04/2012 17:27

dream good luck with the bag packing, I love your names!

I am lurking with abandon for updates on brooker babies!

fishcakefoxtrot · 03/04/2012 18:10

Hello my UBB is here and she's a girl! 6lb 15 and lots of chub on her. Had to wait ages for the section due to various emergencies and have only just got onto the ward now. Luckily just in time for the supper trolley as I am starving and, delicious though it was, the tea and toast just wasn't enough.
not much feeding going on yet. One go on each side and then lots of skin to skin sleeping. Should I be pushing it more? Not sure how to keep her awake Confused. any thoughts?

Will do a proper report of the section later when not on phone.

Lots and lots of good thoughts for dream for tomorrow and for scream's appointment.

No name here! Am off to look at dream's name thread. And I like the name Nye purple Smile

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/04/2012 18:14

Woohoo! Well done Fishcake! Congratulatons to you and MrFishcake.

Enjoy your well-earned munchies, and lovely skin to skin cuddles! Thanks
