izzy what fantastic news!

applepieinthesky · 21/03/2012 14:41

wow izzy I'm so pleased for you!!

FoofFighter · 21/03/2012 14:59

OMGBFP here for those that didn't realise.

oh izzy that#s lovely lovely news :) fingers crossed for you (and us all) to have healthy happy pregnancies :)

booboo glad you are doing "ok", make sure you come back and update us on here when you fall pregnant again ok :)

I just had a little 3 hour nap and had weird labour type dreams, and could feel my baby wriggling in my belly, it was lovely :) I was dreaming about the www.countthekicks.org.uk campaign too. I went a bit dizzy in the kitchen after and dropped a pint of juice all over me, the worktop, a loaf of bread, the clean washing waiting to be hung, the floor

Whoever asked about how much it costs to get all the baby stuff - I will spend as little as possible! I have various bits and pieces already stashed away from when TTC previously. Some might find it weird to use those things seeing as it was with my ex husband, but I don't as they never were used. So I have a swinging crib, about 20 re-useable nappies (which cannot use unless we move as no room/garden to dry them and no room for tumble drier), a Mamas and Papas Ultima package, someone's giving me their barely used Baby Jogger City Mini (best pushchair in the WORLD take my word on that one) and someone else is giving us a cot when we outgrow the crib.

So all I need is clothing and bedding and I want a bouncy chair thing (or maybe a bean bag) and we are toying with the idea of a changing station with built in bath, would massively help me as limits bending. Either that or it'll be changing on the bed and bathing up on the worktops for as long as can do that, then OH taking over bathtime (which might be nice as their special bonding time? :) )

superpenguin · 21/03/2012 15:04

oh my gosh I can't keep up with this thread! pages and pages more posts since I last checked!

Reckon I'm about 6 weeks today. Been thinking to myself every day since I got my BFP that I don't feel pregnant yet. Today am just starting to feel very slightly nauseous. Not sure whether to be pleased or not!

Phoned my docs today to ask to make a booking in appointment with the midwife and the receptionist immediately asked which hospital I want to have my baby!!! I only wanted an appointment, it's a bit early to have to make those sort of decisions yet surely!!! and I do feel she put me on the spot rather! anyway upshot is she wouldn't make me an appointment until i've decided as apparently it's a different midwife you see depending on which hospital you choose! aaarrrghh! in reality i'm pretty certain which one i'm going to choose anyway but that's not the point, I just thought it was a really odd question to ask of someone who has just found out they're pregnant, thought it would be the kind of thing you would discuss at an appointment, not something you have to decide by yourself before even making an appt! anyway the upshot is the midwife is going to phone me on monday and she will make an appt then. what a palava...

WestWingCJ · 21/03/2012 15:18

pipsicles certainly not just you on the 'resuming relations' front. In my ante-natal group we (8 of us) were all of that mind set, so you are not alone! Too bone tired for a start off.....!

Elizadoesdolittle · 21/03/2012 15:28

izzy that's fantastic news. I know it's early days but it really is a good sign. Keep positive Smile

I just had a half hour snooze in the garden in the sun whilst DD naps...bliss! Everything always seems so much better whilst the sun is out.

Elizadoesdolittle · 21/03/2012 15:31

Forgot to add superpenguin I remember when I went to the drs with my first pregnancy and the first thing she asked was what hospital u wanted to give birth at. Luckily at that time there was really only one choice for me but I still flapped about. So this time I was more prepared but the place I gave birth at last time is now closed so is a bit more complicated. But it was still pretty much the first question she asked and it sent me into a flap again even though I was expecting it!

Chunkychicken · 21/03/2012 15:51

Congrats Izzy that's fab news.

pipsicles I think I was still bleeding at my 6/8wk check (had a minor infection) so def DID NOT want to anything until after that. Also had some nasty internal stitches which I thought may have been the cause of pain during sex on the few occassions we tried but it wasn't related - it could have been due to a grumbling appendix, weird... So, long story short, it was a good few months before normal service was resumed & took even longer for me to want another baby!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/03/2012 15:52

izzy yay!! That's great news, what will happen with the clot will it just be absorbed back into the body?

chicken hope you managed to sort something out, did you make it to EPU?

My right boob hurts, that's the latest symptom, don't know if the left will join in.

Chunkychicken · 21/03/2012 15:54

Oh and, at least you have a choice superpenguin mine is the local hospital or.... home I guess. And they get pretty full & often 'close' to expectant mothers. Not sure where you go mid-labour instead but hey, I'll not be long if the first time was anything to go by & I'll just stand in the corridor or sonething!!!

WaitingForMe · 21/03/2012 16:05

That's fantastic news Izzy Grin

My exercise DVDs arrived today and I gave the yoga one a go. Felt tired, grumpy and dizzy before and tired, grumpy and dizzy afterwards. Still, my pelvic floor apparently got a good stretch or whatever it is I'm meant to be doing with it.

I told my one of my best friends (has just given birth) yesterday and she said her biggest regret was not doing more exercise in early pregnancy as she thinks it would've made late pregnancy easier.

It certainly seems to make more sense to start before I have a bump!

jaylee89 · 21/03/2012 16:11

wooooooo well done izzy and congratulations..

wow MS is a bitch today! just had spag bol which was lovely but god i dont think its going to stay down very long. EWWWWW

part of me likes feeling sick as ive been told its a good sign but god i hate actually being sick!

hope all is well with everyone im so aorry to hear your news booboo :(. xxx

chickenspots · 21/03/2012 16:51

great news izzy and glad you are keeping positive boo
thanks for asking DesperateH I eventually said to the switchboard that I had been calling all morning and the phone rang out each time but I really needed to speak to someone so they put me through to gynae ward. They said EPU sister is off work this week however someone would be available to scan me on Friday so I'm to call at 9am on Friday - if bleeding gets heavy or I'm in pain then to go straight to A&E. I hate all this uncertainty my head is in a spin having just had a BFP and now this bleeding I don't know whether I'm coming or going. My symptoms still feel strong and the casserole I've made in the slow cooker is making me gag as is the smell of some one else's washing powder on an ebay parcel I've just opened up. My boobs still ache but I can't help but feel that all this blood means that I'm losing the baby :(

chickenspots · 21/03/2012 16:52

finger crossed jaylee you won't be seeing that again!

Thechick · 21/03/2012 16:52

I've been thinking about the hospital thing. The doctors I'm with use the nearest hospital to me and its quite a big hospital, but i had a horrible experience there with dc1 but there's one thats a bit further out but I think it has more money pumped into it and better facilities. To go to that one I will need to change doctors to one thats a bit closer to me but they are associated with the hospital I think I want. It all feels so early.

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/03/2012 16:59

I know it's easier said than done but try not to panic. The bleeding could be something else entirely, just look at izzy!
If you're not in pain that's v good news as it sounds like its not your body trying to expel it. I'm surprised they're not scanning you before fri though, can you not say its an emergency or go to a&e if your dh looks after your toddler?

FoofFighter · 21/03/2012 17:14

Thechick you can choose any hospital you like to give birth in, it's nothing to do with which GP surgery is nearer etc :) just tell them to book you in at x hospital instead of y

chickenspots fingers firmly crossed for you. that is totally disgusting that they let the phone ring out and there was no re-direction to Gynae or Labour ward or anything, I would seriously consider a complaint. Am shocked.

Thechick · 21/03/2012 17:39

Hey FoofFighter

My drs surgery have midwives that are associated with the nearest hospital so i will just go to the doctors to see the midwife. But they also said that if I wanted to go to the other hospital that I want to go to I need to either go to this health centre which is not easy to get to or change doctors. Not sure how to play it.

Thechick · 21/03/2012 17:41

It feels way to soon to be thinking about it doesn't it. I'll be talking to the drs on Saturday.

Chunkychicken · 21/03/2012 17:59

As for hospitals, you should get yourself to the one on OBEM. Don't see women in labour being sent home because they're only 1cm but coming back an hour later 9cm dilated... or sent home because they're full... Or is that just me??!! Wish I had a choice, our hospital is properly shite but its the only one for the district.

Stuntnun · 21/03/2012 18:05

Izzy that's fantastic news, I hope things go smoothly from now on.

Chickenspots I hope you get good news on Friday. Thinking of you.

Foof could you bath the sproglet in the sink? My DS1 had really bad cradle cap and had to have his head shampooed every day so I just ended up bathing him in the bathroom sink because it was too much hassle filling the baby bath every day.

YellowWellies · 21/03/2012 18:08

We've only got one hospital on the island... the other option is Aberdeen Royal Infirmary via air ambulance (which with 100+mph winds here in the winter ain't something I fancy) but you only get to go there is stuff is going wrong. Thankfully have heard great things about the hospital in Kirkwall and the maty department and sonographer were wonderful in sorting us out a scan the same day I rang in a flap. I wouldn't worry too much about past experiences at hospitals as it seems to be the staff that make the difference in many ways and they could have changed?

jaylee89 · 21/03/2012 18:17

wooooo OBEM tonight!

cuppa (that i have been saving all day) due to blooming sicknessss! i would not be pleased over a wasted cuppa!
and a nice twirl! please god please! let this sickness ease off tonight so i can keep at least something down! chickenspots your right it was not nice at all coming up it bloody hurt tbh lol. i hope everything will be ok for you sweetie if you really are that worried i would maybe go to a&e and request emergency scan. i have everything crossed for you darling. just try and rest and think positive we will all be thinking of you xxxx

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/03/2012 18:32

I had jacket potato cheese and beans with a salad for dinner but felt like I was fighting off nausea while eating it.

We're watching the second half of a film we couldn't finish last night because of ds' teething antics. I'll be having a cuppa and choc honeycomb bites!

Chunkychicken · 21/03/2012 18:36

yellowwellies in some cases I might agree, but in mine, the hospital is shite; going broke, losing staff, overflowing with patients referred from other hospitals, using a day surgery ward for post-op care (I had that experience) & as an overflow ward. Staff in maternity were okay, once I got there & was allowed to stay, but too few & too many babies being born. I would consider ANYWHERE else but def don't want a home birth (not least because I don't want to have to clear up the mess!!!) and there is nowhere else. The next nearest hospital is further away, worse (for MRSA etc) & right next door to where I work. No way I want to replicate my colleagues experience of being stitched up whilst watching the students running around the playground... yuck!! Shock
