Lol we are like a panic station here !! I'm glad tho that some of us are able to get the necessary scans that hopefully will ease our minds!

It does mean its getting hard to come up with excuses at work. I left 30 mins earlier yesterday and said it was an eye appointment. Decided to take half a day off next Friday for my morning appointment. Still havent registered with a midwife yet as gp yesterday sent me to a&e and probably wanted to find out results of the scan first.

Hopefully if all goes well next week then I would need to make an appointment with the midwife ... Did u girls get to pick your own time? So gonna need another excuse in a couple weeks time .... Work might get suspicious....

blonderthanred · 20/03/2012 13:26

Thank you Funny that is really helpful. Yes I thought it was odd that the doc had requested an early scan (for dating as my cycles were so irregular: 28-64 days!) but actually at 13 wks it would be at the end of the screening period. I guess they want the best chance to screen for downs as I am 35. Anyway spoke to dh & he is coming with me to docs in morning. Your words on symptoms are very reassuring though.

Yep, these are obviously the key weeks for panicking and worrying - or is that the next 18 years?

Chunkychicken · 20/03/2012 13:37

I still POAS every couple of days to check - they were 3 for 99p or 2 for a £1 ones, depending where I purchased them, so don't feel too bad, but it is in complete contrast to my DD. I did 1 test & that was it... I also didn't knicker check or panic that I wouldn't get to 12wks, but then I hadn't had a chem pg or know anyone who'd had an mc, so just assumed it would be all ok. Whilst I think MN is a fantastic support network, you do meet far more people online than you would in RL & so come across a far bigger range of experiences, thus opening your eyes to such issues. I don't think I would have been so calm first time round if I'd been aware of how easily it could go wrong!!! However, with the view to being positive, it DID go right then so there's every chance that this one (& everyone else on the thread) will go right too.Grin

I can't decide whether to do my last and most expensive POAS on Fri before my GP appt or Sat morning, 2wks after I first POAS. Decisions, decisions... It is a Clearblue so worth fretting about Wink

No more nausea lately, just a general fuzzy feeling, like my head isn't quite right or switched on, & a feeling of exhaustion from about 10am. Oh and general irritability with DH.Blush

applepieinthesky · 20/03/2012 13:59

candypop I have the same problem with work. It's really awkward and I'm not a convincing liar at all.

My midwife only does appointments on a thursday and friday which is really poor and the latest appointment I could get was 4.20.

One of my colleagues is off work that week so I won't be able to take holiday and they know my doctors does an evening surgery so I will have to invent a dentist appointment or something.

Don't want to delay it because that would push the first scan back.

TheManInTheMoon · 20/03/2012 14:47

Hey YellowWellies I had pains and spotting the whole way through my

TheManInTheMoon · 20/03/2012 14:50

Sorry iPhone Confused. So i'll carry on lol I had pains and spotting all the way through my pregnancy with DS and I had about 6 scans in the EPU. They always told me that's it's better to get it checked then not as you know your body better then they do and also you need to stay stress free so do what you need to do to give yourself peace of mind Smile

Cacacaz · 20/03/2012 14:59

Good luck yellowellies and green

TheManInTheMoon · 20/03/2012 15:03

all of you seem to have had or are having doctors appointments. with DS i didn't need to sort any of that out as i found out while i was in hospital for my epilepsy so it was all done for me. im about 5 weeks should i be telling my doctor already?

Elizadoesdolittle · 20/03/2012 15:23

I've cracked and booked an early viability scan at the fetal medicine centre in Harley St. It's on 2nd April when I should be around 8 weeks. I wanted to try and leave it as long as possible for more chance of picking up the heart beat but that's as long as I can wait! I had an early scan with my DD by accident really, Was supposed to be 12 weeks but turned out I was only 8 so got a sneaky one in. I have such irregular cycles so it's hard to tell but this time I'm pretty sure of roughly when in my cycle I concieved so should only be a couple of days out rather than weeks this time.

Thinking of you yellowwellies and green. I look forward to reading about your good news here later!

Congrats and welcome to all the newbies. Far too many to name, such a busy thread Smile

applepieinthesky · 20/03/2012 15:42

How much did that cost you eliza? I'm tempted myself.

Chunkychicken · 20/03/2012 15:48

TheManintheMoon I checked with my GP whether I should see them or go straight to midwife this time (turns out still have to see them) and with DD went to see them at around the same time as I am now - 5+ wks. I guess it depends how long it takes to get an appt or whether you can self-refer to the MW in your area.

CandyPop · 20/03/2012 15:56

eliza do u know what their latest appointment is? I would like to book one for around 9 weeks but really want to try avoiding missing any work !

CandyPop · 20/03/2012 15:58

*when rather than what!

Elizadoesdolittle · 20/03/2012 16:31

apple it's £100 for the viability scan.

candy I'm afraid I didn't ask the latest appointment times. But there are a couple of places on Harley St that do it. I went for this one as it was the cheapest that had the most convenient appointment time to fit in with dh's work. There is one that only had appointments in Sundays if that helps? That was through babybond and think that was £100 too. And there is the birth centre also on Harley st which was £120 and another one which name I can't remember but that was £150. I just googled private scans london. Between all those hopefully there is something that can accommodate your timings. Good luck.

blonderthanred · 20/03/2012 16:54

Moon I went straight away (5 wks) just to get into the system, your GP can then refer you for your booking in appt a few weeks later. Some places you can book direct with the midwife but most seem to go through GP it seems. you can also ask for your free prescriptions etc so no harm in going.

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/03/2012 17:14

Right from this day forth I am NOT going to read anything else to do with mc etc, no more threads on here no more googling. I'm having a PMA from now on and going to think everything is fine. I'm young and healthy there's no reason for it to go wrong (well nothing I can do anything about anyway)

Btw I've just read that if you have no bleeding/ severe cramps before 12 weeks then the chance of finding a MMC at the first scan is just 1% so v v low.

Ok that's me done, from now on I am serene, calm pregnant lady Grin

YellowWellies · 20/03/2012 17:39

Well we've had the emergency scan, and have learnt a valuable lesson about how much fluid NOT to drink after nearly wetting myself. Turns out if you're on the skinny side you don't need to drink so much water for them to get a good picture as there is less tissue in the way as it were, and that a pint of de-caf tea and another pint of squash isn't easy to keep inside whilst someone prods on your bladder. Luckily (for the sonographer) I managed it (just).

Pretty ambivalent news, positive on balance. Found out that I'm only 4-5 weeks along so as I thought my MC in January did mess up my cycle. Also found out that the bleeding is likely to have been implantation bleeding. Now just have to get thru the next few days as I MC just after implantation last time. Bit gutted I'm not further along as wanted to get out of the early MC woods asap. Hey ho! Saw the yolk sac and the disc and all doing well. She managed to get a better picture and check to make sure it wasn't ectopic using a vaginal probe scanner which is as charming as it sounds.

Anyway my lovely midwife has booked me in for an 8 week extra scan for reassurance so we can see the heartbeat. So gawd knows what my due dates are - maybe due 27th November? Am chuffed we did it, and to say we live on an isolated windy rock in the remote North Atlantic am very, very impressed with maternity care on Orkney. Anyone else worrying, go get checked just in case - it's made me feel a lot better and well if we MC later, that's something we'll have to deal with, but at the mo' all is good. Have just eaten a big bag of mini eggs to celebrate .... boak

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/03/2012 17:44

Really glad you're scan went well, implantation bleeding sounds much more positive. It's good you're getting another scan in a few weeks too that is something to look forward to during the loooong wait to 12 weeks.

I swear everyone else I know all their pregnancies have flown by, it was if we found out at 5 week then they're suddenly having their 12 week scan.

Chunkychicken · 20/03/2012 17:49

Good news yellowwellies :)

YellowWellies · 20/03/2012 17:50

I know it's agonising isn't it!!! Even waiting another 4 weeks is going to be tough, but well, it's better than the alternative if you get what I mean :( good luck all, may the first trimester pass quickly, may our scans arrive in a heartbeat (and with one too) and may DH put an internet block on my laptop for MC web searches! Have decided there's nothing I can do to change it - am off booze, fags and have cut caffeine right down to one cup of real tea a day (and a couple of choc bars ahem), so what will be, will be.

LittleLolly · 20/03/2012 18:02

Yellow so pleased for you Grin. So has that changed your EDD. I had the internal scan too.... And it was 3 days before my next waxing appointment.... Lovely!

Tiago · 20/03/2012 18:40

But Yellow - you used the proper name for it Shock. On the MC boards people often refer to the scanners as "dildocam" Grin

Kyzordz · 20/03/2012 19:07

glad you have good news yellow

My doctors appt went fine :) Am booked in to see the midwife on 10th april. I spoke to him about the weird sharp pains and they're apparently ok, i've had no bleeding or anything so i'm going to stop worrying and take each day as it comes :) Dotor is putting me at about 6 weeks gone so my EDD for now is 12/11/12 :) I don't suppose somebody could add me to the list could they? I'm not entirely sore how.... Confused

TheDetective · 20/03/2012 19:13

I have some good news ladies!

NO VOMIT STORIES TODAY!! After waking up at midnight last night, and scoffing a plate of scrambled eggs that I woke DP up and made him cook me and then sleeping til mid day today (!!) I have not been sick. That is now over 24 hours of no vomit.

I am keeping on top of the tablets, and eating little and often, and although my nose is rather eager to find bad smells, the nausea has improved too!

Just goes to show - if it starts - get it treated quickly. This may be where I went wrong in the past. Its much harder to get it under control when its so far down the line.

I even managed Ikea, and Babies R Us, as well as DS's parents evening. Very pleased with myself. I am however, a little tired, considering I've only been up 7 hours!!

I've only had a quick glance through the rest of the thread, as it seems to be moving so quickly! Just wanted to say good look to those with scans coming up, and good news to those who have had them today! Lets keep our chins up ladies :)

WestWingCJ · 20/03/2012 19:20

Great news Detective and yellow

Kyzordz 10th is my MW appt too!

Very cheering to read all the positivity - has lifted me out of a low spell :)

Hope everyone gets good news
