All the dissing of the Quinny is helping.....a little HmmGrin

I am wondering if I can occidentally sneak a doppler in to the house without anyone noticing Grin

Bubble the doc has prescribed me a steroid nasal spray for my migraines as he decided they were being caused by sinus pain. It has helped hugely. I try not to take it until I have to but really I couldn't function in that pain. I would go see what they say.

Newton I have been shamelessly flaunting the vadge vote. If I has to come out of my fanjo then I get the final say on everything! so tuff Grin
Well apart from the Quinny SadGrin

I like the vadge vote. I use it at every available opportunity... 'Yes, but I'm the one that has to push it (I hate the term 'it', will be much nicer when I can say 'him' or 'her') out of my vadge... so... y'know...' :o

newtonupontheheath · 02/05/2012 15:09

Gizzy Have a wander over to the puschairs board and you will see more than a bit of dissing for the quinny! There are far better pushchairs out there, for less money as well! Failing that, what are the chances of snealing a Quinny in the house disguised as a doppler Grin

Luckily, DP leaves most baby decisions to me. The kids get his last name which is enough of a burden, I get to decide everything else Grin 9ok, not entirely true, but close enough!)

CaptainHetty · 02/05/2012 15:43

Can't remember if we've talked about this yet... I would blame baby brain but actually, I'm just a daft moo who forgets everything...

Is anyone else hoping to have a water birth? :o

elvislives2012 · 02/05/2012 16:31

Hi all. Long time no speak. Not much going on except expanding and every now and then thinking 'is that a kick or a dart?'! Haha
We are in the not finding out camp, although its going to be hard! Did anyone see on the news about gender reveal parties? All sounds a bit much to me!

elvislives2012 · 02/05/2012 16:32

fart not dart!

KPT083 · 02/05/2012 16:53

LoopyLa · 02/05/2012 18:11

Well done Winnie, great news!! Grin

Guccigirl79 · 02/05/2012 18:21

Right, had a busy day here while it hasnt been pissing with rain! Had MW app at 11am she tested my urine sample which was normal,as was my blood pressure, realised I have put on 2.5kg in a month Shock Blush & also got to hear heartbeat which was found immediately! It was beating at a rate of knots!!! MW has also agreed to referr me back to consultant re; my stupid blood she agrees I should be screened again for the thrombophilia as at first I was told 'yes' I had it then when I saw consultant few weeks ago she said it was a 1% chance of having it,so naturally I'm mythered by it & want it sorted because I dont want to not know if I'm at risk.

Also went to look at a 'babies r us 'jig' travel system' it's brand new never been used, seems ok & high enough all round for DP (he's 6ft6") but am going to have a butchers at some others tomorrow before I commit to it.Any opinions on this particular one ladies???

Guccigirl79 · 02/05/2012 18:24

Congrats Winnie that's fab news you must be over the moon!!! :)

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 02/05/2012 18:37

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

Ahh so much to keep track of as a newcomer to this thread!! What a relief for you winnie!

Sounds like there's a lot of people in the 'not finding out gender' camp.... I was too until I actually got pg and now I seem to have lost all patience! Although it will just be for me and DH to know (although it might be tricky not to let it slip...)

I wonder when I'll stop feeling 'naughty' about looking in the baby section of shops?!? Haha. C'mon proper bump!

GizzyBoo · 02/05/2012 18:41

Woooohoooooo Winnie that is just fantastic GrinGrinGrin

Hetty Grin

elvis I saw that on breakfast news.....all seemed a bit to American for me Blush
I'm glad it's not just me who is going for the surprise too.

Right I am gonna be happy with my urban detour. It is practical and just what we need. It is in great condition and it is FREE! I will not be a spoilt brat Blush
It also gets great reviews. Grin

I am hoping to have a water birth here at home. I have decided against going to the mainland to give birth and so far have had nothing but support from the midwife, GP and the consultant I saw at my 12 week scan. So long as all remains uncomplicated this will be the plan.

My wee baby is very wiggly now. I grin every time I feel it Blush

I'm planning on (and MW is happy for me to) give birth in the local birth centre, in which every room has a pool available for use anyway. When I gave birth in the normal maternity unit last time I never had to ask, they offered it when I got there because they had one free. I dunno if you have to ask your midwife beforehand, I'm going to discuss it with her at my next appointment because I'll be 28 weeks by then.

GizzyBoo · 02/05/2012 18:57

That birth centre sounds fab Hetty

Hmmmmm I might just have a quick look on ebay at pools and dopplers while no one is looking Grin

newtonupontheheath · 02/05/2012 19:05

I'm debating a water birth myself. I know it sounds awful but I couldn't be arsed looking in to it/sorting it out last time and I think part of me thought my home birth would end in a transfer to hospital (thanks to all the scaremongerers out there!!) But this time round, I'm definitely looking into it more. I'm ebaying as we speak Grin

That MLU sounds great. Even the newest one near us only has 1!

newtonupontheheath · 02/05/2012 19:12

Also, just seen Gucci 's post.

I don't know about that particular model but we had a babies r us (bruin, yes?) one for DS... Like an umbrella fold but bulkier and with a big footmuff, suitable from birth... I found the quality to be really poor.

DP managed to ruin the hood the first time we used it (cue me crying in the middle of asda car park!) and the foamy handle split after about 6 weeks. The straps weren't really attached at the back of the seat so could come out leaving DS not strapped in. Luckily we stopped using it before that happened!

In hindsight, I should have complained/took it back but I didnt realise the crap quality until I bought my maclaren and I thought it was just anger because my mum made me buy it!

newtonupontheheath · 02/05/2012 20:14

Thunder that was my mindset with ds. It was fab!

If you've got any questions just shout! My DP was mostly supportive, especially because our midwife was and definitely after visiting the MLU and learning more about the hospital set up (stuff like being left on your own, visiting hours, him having to leave us Sad )

DP can't wait for this one as last time he played assistant midwife as the second one didn't get to us in time (v fast labour) I think he's secretly hoping that happens again this time so he can really get stuck in Grin

pinpan · 02/05/2012 22:20

Winnie, that's fantastic! GrinGrinGrin

Loopy, your elephant is adorable. Jellycat? I started making a mobile to hang over the cot - I looked online and found some amazing ones but they were insanely expensive, and I thought, with a bit of felt and stuffing, I can do that. It's going to be eccentric. So far I have a gharial (fish eating crocodile) and a pukeko (antipodean swamp hen), and I'm working on a rhino. I've put photos on my profile page. Smile

RnB · 02/05/2012 23:37

Winnie!!!!!! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Beeblebear · 03/05/2012 02:31

Yay winnie!!!!!!!!! Super happy for you!

Bubbel. Doc said I cold continue my steroid inhaler while pregnant whenever I needed. I have been sick with a cold for days now and have used it several times. Sometimes the only way I can fall asleep without thinking that if I do I might just foger to keep breathing.

Still feeling quite rotten so 730 and off to bed with me. Catch up with the rest of you later.

GizzyBoo · 03/05/2012 08:24

Good morning ladies.

Pinpan I can't see your profile....I think you have it hidden.

Newton having to go away at 37 weeks and spend up to 4-5 weeks away from my family and possibly giving birth alone has been the driving force behind our home birth. Hubby was very twitchy about it at the beginning but has come round. Now I am really excited.

If anyone is interested there is a fabulous book called "Babycatcher" by Peggy Vincent that is the memoirs of a midwife in America. Its wonderful and full of stories of home births and normality as well as being a lovely read. I have read it about 6 times Blush

Beeble more often that not I am in bed by 9pm. If it wasn't for the fact I feel I'm abandoning the kids I would go a whole lot earlier Grin I hope you feel better soon xx
