Hi elvis! I'm having my first, and I wasn't sure that what I was feeling was the baby until about 18 and a half or 19 weeks (20+3 now) - I think I felt it first around 16, but I wouldn't have sworn it for sure. Now DH can feel it from the outside most of the time, and I can see it sometimes. Smile

Feeling proper bumpy now, and beginning to wish I could go on maternity leave much sooner than the end of August... Zzzz

HeyMicky · 09/05/2012 08:35

I only felt movement on monday, elvis, at 19+6. Felt like gas - kind of like a suppressed fart Grin a kind of ripply, bubbly feeling. DH still can't feel it (too much padding?)

GizzyBoo · 09/05/2012 09:28

Morning ladies....

Huge congrats RnB that must have been lovely.

I have a bump now too Pinpan...even with all the extra padding Grin Getting proper pokes now and can feel the baby turning. Nothing to see/feel on the outside yet though.

Booked the ferry and hotel for our 20 week scan yesterday .... 2 weeks today Grin

Having a hottie doc has its draw backs.....I think I have thrush and can't possibly go tell him that can I Blush

Maybe when we start the next thread we can update the stats with gender or any other info you wish to share ??

I've been feeling movement for a while but this is my fourth and I think generally women on second and subsequent pregnancies feel the earlier movements more. I'm 19+2 now and feeling proper kicks from Flump, but can't see them and my partner can't feel them yet.

Congrats on the little boy, RnB! Also think we need to start updating our list with girls and boys. Our scan is a week today, very excited.

Emmiedarling · 09/05/2012 09:33

Still here - in bed - (only about 4 months left right?!)

No news this end. Meant to be having scan tomorrow, but im at my mum's - 5 hours from London so I can't see that happening very easily. :(

Been eating SOOO much. I had breakfast the other day, and before I'd realised it, i'd eaten half a box of Dorset Muesli. Then I may have made a cake and eaten lots of that too ;)

Welcome to everyone who's new and congrats on those who have found out the sex!

Talking of maternity leave - when can one take it from? I have obviously not been in work since my operation about a month ago, and I can't see myself well enough to go back any time soon. (particularly with strict instructions on bed rest)

It is a bit of a tricky situation I fear! I am a counsellor for mum's with PND, so it's all becoming very real.

Have a good day! xx

CaptainHetty · 09/05/2012 09:35

Cross posted with Gizzy, I think updating the list on our next thread is a good idea :o

pinpan · 09/05/2012 10:38

I agree about updating the list on the next thread. Maybe someone bored could check back what some people have said already so we don't all have to do it Wink.

More importantly, what are we going to call the next thread?

(Oh no Gizzy! Maybe you can have a quiet word with the midwife instead of having to 'fess up to the hot doc? Grin)

Thanks & Biscuit, Emmie!

GizzyBoo · 09/05/2012 12:01

Well don't ask me what to call the new thread.....all my creativity and inspiration was used up in this title Grin

Midwife isn't at work today....there aren't enough births on the island for her to work full time Shock Yesterdays antenatal clinic was empty....hence me being asked to go for an extra so hottie doc could practise Grin

Emmie I have no idea about maternity and work stuff. I do know that if you are off sick past a certain point then they can make you start your maternity leave early. Not sure what date that is though.

Might be worth a call to CAB to clarify?? Or do you have a HR department?

newtonupontheheath · 09/05/2012 13:11

Hi All,

Emmie My employers policy is 4 weeks prior to due date if you are off sick... public sector, not sure wether this is policy or law though..?

Hope Thunder had a lovely birthday.... my IO order finally turned up and (Luckily!) I am keeping it all Grin I'm already thinking about how easy those wrap tops will be to bf in and how smart they will look when I'll need "holding in" afterwards!

Gizzy you big floozy Grin I haven't come across any male people since being pregnant, let alone hot ones! There is clearly some discrimination goin on here!!

Nothing mega to report here, working from home today so I try to steer clear of MN in an attempt to get something done!! I have been feeling proper kicks, and DP has too! It was very strange, we got into bed the other night and he said he wanted to have a chat to baby...as soon as he put his hand and head on my stomach-dink! Grin Brilliant as it took him aaaaages last time. And I mean ages. I could see DS moving before DP could even feel him!

Less than one week until our 20 wk scan- I'm now 19+2!!

We have told more people this week about the baby, but still nothing on FB. I'm a lot more sensitive, and sensitive to others now after mmc...I realise you never know what people go through, as so many people don't know what we went through.

A well meaning friend of the family (she's a bit gobby tbh) made a comment about us "only doing it once a year" as this baby is due the same week as ds's birthday. Made me a bit angry, I daren't mention it to DP, as I thought "Don't you think I would have had one sooner if I could!!!" but she doesn't know, and obviously didn't mean anything by it. I wonder whether she said anything to my mum...yes, she is the type to make a comment like that to my mother!! And what she would have said.

DS's second full day of nursery today and he cried when I dropped him off. I think I stayed too long, as had to wait for the owner to write me a receipt and whilst I was hovering, DS came back up to the gate looking for me. If I'd have just gone, he'd have been fine! Rang up when I got back though and he was making everybody breakfast at the little kitchen!

newtonupontheheath · 09/05/2012 14:06

Ugh. Just made a horrible mistake at work and feel awful.

Told someone I don't even know (therefore no idea of personal circumstances, how they will react etc) that they can have some time off during the Olympics when leave is restricted and they actually can't .They had replied saying how relieved they were as sorting out childcare had been a nightmare and that it was a huge weight off their mind Sad I was looking at the wrong spreadsheet....they actually can't have it off at all Blush

I hate this as it isn't even my job, but nobody would do it quite rightly, it's been a pain in the arse so I was volunteered by my boss as I am good at organising stuff. Urgh. Urgh. Urgh.

CaptainHetty · 09/05/2012 15:34

Aw newton, don't beat yourself up over it. It's an easy mistake to make, especially if it's not something you'd normally be doing.

Must...resist...baby...things...

We're being given so much stuff it makes no sense for me to buy anything really, apart from a new car seat. I still keep looking at things and aaaaalmost buying them, though :o

newtonupontheheath · 09/05/2012 15:44

Captain We've got loads of baby stuff too but still want to buy some more!! I think I will enjoy it all the more when I can buy gender-specific stuff though so not finding out means I'll save a bloody fortune!

Bloody Olympics!! Thanks Captain I've got way to much other stuff on to be able to do this as well, but hey-ho. Only 16 weeks of work to go- and 3 of those are holidays anyway. Forces a Grin

elvislives2012 · 09/05/2012 18:05

Hmm thanks for the movement updates, think I need to be a bit more patient. Only 16+6 with number 1. Dammit! Wink
Given my first hand knitted cardie today. It's tiny! Surely nothing as fragile as that will fit in it?

GizzyBoo · 09/05/2012 18:19

haha Newton I haven't been called a floosie for years Grin
Don't beat yourself up about mistakes at work....we are only human, mistakes happen!

Hetty I could buy tonnes of stuff but have so far held off. I know how much of it is unnecessary. After all, all babies need are somewhere to sleep, a few nappies and sleepsuits and a boob that is readily available Grin

Doesn't stop me wanting it all though Blush

elvis it really wont be long Grin
My mum sent me a pack of sleepsuits in the post......they are so small.....I can't even remember any of my 3 ever being so tiny wee Grin

I've been feeling baby lots but this is second baby. Baby likes to wake me up at 5am by kicking me really hard on the side I'm lying on as if I'm squashing him/her! I started feeling baby a few weeks ago, and the best way I could describe it was like jelly, so we started nicknaming baby our little jellyfish lmao.

Emmie I think I read that you can start maternity leave with 11 weeks before baby is due. Also, can I just say, my DD is called Emmie so everytime I see your name, I think of her lol.

newtonupontheheath · 09/05/2012 20:36

Bear Emmie is a lovely name, is it short for anything? (Sorry if it's not and you get that a lot!!)

If anybody could help me pick boys names Here I'd appreciate it Smile

I've got a good healthy girls list though... Maybe that means something?! Wink

GizzyBoo · 10/05/2012 08:53

Newton I am rubbish with names. I too find it much easier to come up with pink names rather than blue names. You have some lovely suggestions on your thread though.

I am seriously considering letting #3 child name this wee baby as his suggestions are quite lovely and I can't think of anything I like more Grin
Having such an important big brother role might help with the jealousy after being the baby of the family for almost 10 years too??

My niece has always called me auntie Emmie .... it is very sweet Smile

I have a broody chook.....must be catching Grin
She is becoming a problem though as she is dominating the hen house and won't let the others in to lay. She has been sat on the nest for about 10 days now and is refusing to move. The little swine screeches and pecks at me if I try to move her. She is seriously gonna have to get over her hormonal self soon or we shall be having her for dinner BlushGrin

GizzyBoo lol Grin

Thanks thunder! Like the new thread name, too

CaptainHetty · 10/05/2012 11:43

Thanks for doing the list, Thunder. Think that's a really good thread name, too :o

Bear1984 · 10/05/2012 12:24

Thunder like the thread name! :)

I have an app with midwife this afternoon. It's the 15 mins 16wk app so nothing exciting.

I wanted to ask, has anyone else really broken out with spots? I have really terrible ones, I look like I have chicken pox lol. It's really annoying me. I also seem to be running hotter than everyone else, which is particularly frustrating at work who seems to think we work in the middle of the Artic, with how warm it gets in the office!

CaptainHetty · 10/05/2012 13:04

Omg yes, bear, I have spots as well. My skin is never usually bad but I keep getting them on my face and my shoulders, for some reason Confused .

My friend did a marvellous job of convincing me the spot that has grown on the side of my forehead... Hmm ... didn't look too bad. Then my son sat next to me that evening and said 'Mum, there's something big and red on your head!'.....
