And I've also realised that traditionally isn't your fella supposed to buy an eternity ring when you have your first child?

Oh loopy you're a genius :o

PopcornMouseInBoots · 15/03/2012 09:59

And I wanted to say bubble you're not being irrational/hormonal at all, she's being really idiotic and self-absorbed. I can only hope she has a reality check at some point Confused in the meantime, try not to let her win let it get to you - just enjoy your pregnancy :)

DameFlatYouLent · 15/03/2012 10:33

Hello new thread! come on blooming, come on blooming...

Pezzina · 15/03/2012 10:57

Hello all - its been ages and has taken me a while to catch up. I've been caught up in our house sale and purchase, organising my husband's surprise 40th birthday party and our summer holiday!

Am loving the new home - well done Gizzy. Sorry to hear you aren't well but hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

I have finally had my scan date through - practically have been jumping on the postman for the past week - poor chap. Its next Thursday at 3.30pm - bring it on!

I've also got one of the angel sounds dopplers - had it from my DD's pregnancy and it definitely gave me peace of mind in between scans. I have been trying to use it for the past couple of weeks but Junior is not complying - I can hear the whooshing of the umibilical cord and have caught a couple of times what I thought could have been Junior's heartbeat but not enough to help me relax that all is ok. Will be trying again at the weekend when I will be 12 weeks.

It is the most amazing thing when you do hear the heartbeat. Grin

CaptainHetty · 15/03/2012 11:03

Thanks girls, been under a duvet with my daughter this morning and do feel slightly better now actually. Off to do the nursery run in a minute though!

I seem to have an irrational addiction to gherkins at the moment. Funny because usually I can't stand the things, probably stemming from the fact my Grandfather used to call them 'pickled willies' Hmm

Glad you've got a scan date through pezzina :o ours is 2 weeks today and it still seems way too far away for my impatient liking.

Hetty aren't gherkins one of those classic pg cravings? Or is that gherkins with icecream? Grin

How wonderful everyone's hearing the hearbeat! I'm 10 weeks but have to wait til 13 for my scan [grumpy face] (actually that should read [fat grumpy face]),

My booking in appt was a total shambles. My mw was off sick, so I had 2 trainee midwives jabbing me with needles in a playroom at a children's centre while DS threw grapes at me from his buggy. I have no idea why they moved me there from the GP surgery. They had nothing with them, so I had to wee in a drinking cup and they took my information down on a paper towel Hmm Gotta love the NHS. I still don't have my maternity notes.

Also, I think I have a dentist's appointment soon, and I was hoping to have one of those exemption cards for prescriptions etc. Last time my MW gave me the form to fill in, but (surprise surprise) I didn't get one this time. Does anyone know how I get one? Don't want to pay for the dentist!!

babybrain3 · 15/03/2012 12:08

Loving the idea of an eternity ring loopy GrinGrin will keep my fx!! But won't hold my breath!!

Dame, to be honest, I think anything pickled would satiate it, I just happen to have gherkins in the house. Think I'll pass on the accompanying ice cream though :o

My scan is on the 29th as well! Yaaay :o

Never been to an NCT nearly new sale before but know lots of people who've got great bargains at them, mind you your post there conjured up the image of hormonal pregnant women fighting over pushchairs and bags of baby clothes... I'm sure it's a very civil affair in reality :)

Here you all are!

Hope everyone is feeling ok. I have not been sick since Friday and am generally feeling fatter fitter. 10+1 today.

Had a lovely lunch of garlic bread with strawberry jam and a little salad dressing on the side. Yum. Starting to miss beer now the weather is nice and sunny.

Bubble - hope your sister stops acting like a nob soon. I hope you're not taking too much notice.

Psammead · 15/03/2012 15:08

Thunder, twice a year our town has a childrens' clothes market. It gets viscious. Last time someone stole something out of my basket Shock

The next one is in spring and pregnant women get to go in early and have a good rummage in peace, so that's great Grin

MakeTeaNotWar · 15/03/2012 15:39

oh god I just ate a whole baguette Blush AND I had 2 fried eggs for breakfast!! If I wasn't looking prego before, then I certainly am now!

Pezz my scan is next Thurs too - at 10.15 - and it can't come quick enough. I've got my monthly catch up with my manager on Monday and I'm thinking of telling him - not least so I can have time off for the scan - but will wait until I've had the scan before telling everyone else.

thunder I would def get to the sale, the bargains are amazing! I've bought a buggy board for DD, a sling, clothes and much more. I know it's nice to buy new things but nobody really has to, everything is available secondhand or on freecycle (we got DD's Moses basket, baby bath and potty from freecycle). The sales can be very crowded and non-NCT members have to wait at the back of the queue while members get first dibs but I think they are worth going to. We've got one here in a fortnight but DH is away skiing so I don't have anyone to look after DD if I go and no way am I bringing a toddler!

MissPenteuth · 15/03/2012 15:41

Afternoon all. Lovely sunny day here :) Actually I've spent most of it cooped up in a shopping centre Hmm, but I did get an hour and a half of shopping in peace while DD slept in her pushchair. I needed to buy a few more long/loose tops, as anything tight is definitely out of the question (and I use the word 'tight' loosely anyway, as my tummy's never been the same since having DD). What is everyone else wearing? I'm not feeling ready for maternity clothes quite yet, but I have a definite pot belly which would be obvious under anything that wasn't loose-fitting.

Psam when you say garlic bread with strawberry jam, do you mean, y'know, jam on the garlic bread?? I've never tried that before.

Bubblebell1 · 15/03/2012 15:52

Hey ladies!

Running on auto pilot due to the night I shared with a tractor Hmm.
What a beautiful day! I went shopping and it 2 new tops. I seem to be expanding thighs hips and tum have got very wobbly.
misspen there were some lovely bits in dorothy Perkins!
I too did the bi carb test and it said girl! We shall see eh.
Ds2 has a school disco this evening so I will get another hr and a half to myself. Smile will sit and eat some I not all of the cake I made this Afternoon Grin

Bubblebell1 · 15/03/2012 15:54

Stupid iPhone! Or is that stupid bubble Wink. I can spell honest

Hope your all well x

trilottie · 15/03/2012 16:07

Hello ladies, can I join? I'm 9 weeks today officially but really only 8 weeks due to a long cycle.
Came home from work early today as I had a REALLY painful stomach from when i woke up to about an hour ago. Like a v bad period pain - rather worried as I had an MMC last November but at least its gone now. I rang the MW but she couldn't help much, and at least i'm not bleeding.

We've had 2 scans already and seen the heartbeat twice! Planning another one the week before Easter so we can tell everyone over Easter at a family party. Cannot wait!

Psammead · 15/03/2012 16:19

MissPenteuth - yup! It was nice. Am a bit Hmm at myself Grin

RnB · 15/03/2012 16:26

I got my blood results back after the NT test on tues - am very low risk of the 3 chromosomal abnormalities they test for. When I saw the letter from the hospital I panicked a bit as they said it would take 2 weeks!

Am getting the first signs of SPD returning Sad (boo!) Am having twinges down my legs and in my buttocks. It started at about 20 weeks with dc1 but has got earlier with each pg.

LoopyLa · 15/03/2012 16:29

Wow, so much to catch up on since this morning already! It's a good job I'm not busy in my job because I cannot be arsed to work since I found out I'm up the duff so I can keep up with everything! Grin

Hope all the porrly ladies get to recover soon and we will bloom godammit!

DFYL (sorry for the shortening of your name) paper towel??? Seriously??? Did they not even have a flipping notebook?!

Gizzy when I sneeze, my uterus seems to contract! Shock

MakeTea fried eggs? Were they well fried to solidity or lion marked eggs etc? I only ask as I've been gagging for such a sandwich but confused over the information about eggs...and I can't ask a midwife as I bloody don't have one yet. I'd love to know your advice especially as you've had a dc already?

Psam/Miss Penteuth I was also pondering the strawberry jam on garlic bread...Wink

MissPenteuth I've already removed all close fitting tops and surviving on a few tunics and loose blouses. Tops that I used to avoid like the plague like ones with elastic at the bottom and make you look like a balloon are now my best friend Blush

Thanks to everyne who mentioned the NCT nearly new sales, I shall def look out for those in my area.

And finally welcometrilottie!! Smile Thanks

Wow, I'm exhausted writing that mammoth post, I must go and have a lay down! Grin Crap, I do appear to still be at work though.... Confused Wink

CaptainHetty · 15/03/2012 16:30

Hi trilottie, welcome to the thread :o

I went to a jumble sale with my mum once, and I will never do it again. It was like hell. Have to second the Freecycle suggestion, though, I gave away a lot of baby stuff on there when Jessie got too big for it, so might use it for this one to get a few bits. Luckily my sister's baby will be about 8 months when this one is due so I've already got her to agree to keep her moses basket, bouncy chair and various other bits stored once my niece is too old/big for them. If I have another girl I'll barely have to buy any clothes... I still will though

MakeTeaNotWar · 15/03/2012 16:43

Looby not sure about the lion-mark but the eggs were best before March 5th! Am I gross? I am a bit of an egg fiend (vegetarian), love them!

I'm a bit cavalier about the food guidelines to be honest - stuff like pate and parma ham don't apply to me as I don't eat them but I definitely drink too much tea!

Guccigirl79 · 15/03/2012 17:04

Afternoon ladies!!!

FINALLY we have been out & bought a laptop today so no more faffing on my phone!! Yay!! :)

Well done to all those of you that have had scans/heard heartbeats I'm sooo jealous!!! got to wait until the 5th April for my first scan.

Bubble, not sure my friend wants a child so much as she REALLY doesnt want one therefore has no understanding as to why anyone else would,so you're absolutely right she is a nutter lol

GizzyBoo · 15/03/2012 18:37

Has cooked a roast pork dinner with all the trimmings....

Now what I really fancy is a dairylea and cucumber sandwich Blush

Loopy I love soft eggs....and I am still eating them soft. They dont have a lion mark either as they come fresh from my chooks every morning. I know how to live dangerously Grin

Welcome to the thread trilottie and congrats on your BFP
