Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

Oh and I keep meaning to ask - I still have no booby leakage yet. Not that I'm complaining but am begnning to panick that I don't have any milk being produced Is this normal? I have tried to massage boobs in downward motion to encourage it to kickstart but zilch is happening. May be completely normal but some of you guys have been leaking for ages now.

Helen38 · 06/02/2006 13:39

no leaking here, well a little bit once but it's my 3rd baby so don't worry chloe

Jasnem · 06/02/2006 13:40

It's normal (for some people)! I had nothing, until I delivered, and breast fed fairly easily. Nothing at all this time, either.

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 13:42

So in theory I should think myself lucky

hotmama · 06/02/2006 13:44

I've had no leaking - and didn't when I had dd1 - my boobs still swelled to the size of watermelons when I had her though!

Don't worry - some people leak and some don't - doesn't mean you won't produce any milk.

Tabs · 06/02/2006 13:45

Chloe - I've leaked about 5 times and just a tiny bit each time - definitely nothing milky - just watery stuff. It's apparently the prolactin that is released during labour that stimulates the milk production to start (hence it can be harder to get going if you've had a caesarean, as body doesn't produce as much prolactin), so don't doubt that it will happen for you as intended.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 06/02/2006 13:47

Agree there Tabs, thought it better not to post n all that.....

Chloe things sound promising at your end of things, same with Flame, quesey might be a good thing?
Helen, will you be the next one then?!

Hotmama, hopefully it will be you and not Helen next, I'm really hoping it will be very quick for you when it happens (x'd finger emoticon)

Well midwife has been today and I'm 4/5ths engaged (and that's in not out!) OMG!!!!! she has asked me to try to hang on until next week as she has lots of possible homebirths this week I did tell her dd was 5 days over, but she was seriously saying she thinks this one will be early?! However I'm not holding my breath, just rather surprised.....thus she's crammed me in a scan on Wed am, just to check all is ok with baby and that it is the head down there not a pair of feet (feels like a head to me, as the feet keep kicking me in my side, but there u go) So have phoned dh and panick'd him, as can't even reach bumps clothes at the mo, due to his junk still

Frizbetheexpansionset · 06/02/2006 13:48

Oh and no leaking here!

hotmama · 06/02/2006 13:49

Re leaking!

Just to cheer us up - I will share a little story.

On Saturday morning, I cut dps hair with his strimmer things - off he went to have a shower and I began to vacuum up the hair.

All of a sudden, there was dribbling down my legs - I had thought my waters had gone. But no I had weed myself [the shame] As dp has said I was probably using muscles that hadn't been used for a while - cheeky bugger - I think it was just the pressure of the bump on my fullish bladder.

I will now retreat to the house of shame!

hotmama · 06/02/2006 13:51

Frizbe - if you beat me I am coming up the M1 to junction 28 and will be slapping you senseless!

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 13:55

You really have just cheered me up Hotmama - bless you for sharing that information!!!

TicTac · 06/02/2006 13:56

Chloe - I had no leaking at all during pregnancy but milk came in well and now when I feed off one breast...the other joins in the party and squirts out! You wont have any trouble at all hun!!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 06/02/2006 13:57

at that story hotmama, but please don't come and beat me up I'm as shocked as you are, this baby surely can't be ready to pop yet........

Jasnem · 06/02/2006 13:57

Sorry for you really (at least you weren't out shopping!) but did make me smile.

4blue1pink · 06/02/2006 14:33

Hi girls - due today but no sign. Feeling quite nauseous but i think thats fear!

rang hospital re having an epidural - not ahd one yet but over-anxious this time....said i would have to stay in so not sure its such a good idea.

May have a 'wet run' with birth pool tonight and see how confident i feel.

Very tearful and worriesome in the 4b1p household!

ixel · 06/02/2006 14:42

I'm too impatient to get worried yet... I'll leave the panic to the last minute! I know I'm not due till Saturday, but its driving me up the wall. And my birth partner's dh has got the week off work, so it'd be very convienient child care wise for her (oh, no pressure then??!)

3k · 06/02/2006 15:24

Hey girls,

Had consultant appointment today and all is well, blood pressure even behaving itself and he has made a note on my notes to say I can have a water birth if BP behaves!!! YAY!!!! That's if I dont get induced I suppose which I am booked in for on Monday at 6pm! Arrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Could be a Valentines baby then if nothing happens before hand. Baby come out a little today and is only 2/5 engaged whereas last week MW said he was fully in there. They said it isnt a problem at the hospital and I could still go into labour at any time. Have to go in for monitoring on Thursday as I will be 7 days late then and again on Saturday just to check all is well. I also have a slight thrush infection so have been given some pessaries so maybe that will get things moving you never know!! Am measuring 42cm today!! Dread to think what it will be on Monday if I go that far!!! Consultant suggested sex at every opportunity to get things moving

Re being induced, they said they will give me up to 3 lots of gel in 24 hours and then if nothing will rest me until the next afternoon then start the gel again. If cervix is open slightly then they will just break my waters on Tuesday. It's very scary stuff, I really hope baby comes before Monday.

hotmama · 06/02/2006 16:12

Had some good advice on my overdue/induction thread. To sniff or burn some clary sage aromatherapy oil - so I am sniffing hard - let you know if it works.

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 16:28

HM - I had a similar experience to you... mine was mid sneeze .

Don't think this baby is at all engaged judging by how much heartburn I'm still gettting... don't see m/w til Friday.

Yay for your waterbirth.

4B1P - The mood I'm in today... if I go into labour today, then I'm going to hospital - sod the homebirth, it all seems far too much effort to clear up! I feel sure I'll change my mind tomorrow...

DD has woken up from her nap grizzly and miserable with 3 spots down her cheek. Can't see any anywhere else, and although she's warm, she's not got a temp, so I'm assuming that she's scratched herself there recently and its come up as spots (she has random spots a lot).

Chloe - heard absolutely nothing about moses baskets and cot death... surely there would have been many threads squabbling over an announcement like that??? Not got a moses basket anyway, so not an issue here - DD hated hers with a passion, so decided not to bother.

I've found out recently that the hospital that I would go to if I did decide against homebirth is completely midwife now - they used to have a consultant on call for emergencies, but now the only difference between there and home is the resustiation thingy... Makes my arguing with MIL more strong now.

Chloe - no leakage at all with DD, and only a teeny amount this time. breastfed fine.

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 16:32

Have any of you tried the milk of magnesia - I have no idea if it was that that set me off with DD or not, but its gotta be worth a try. I'm trying it next Friday night... don't want to risk it midweek because if it doesn't work, then I am just stuck with a case of the sh*ts all day home with a toddler

Jasnem · 06/02/2006 16:51

Does castor oil have the same effect? I get it suggested almost every day, but the person who suggests it the mostdoes admit that she went into labour spontaniously when she poured it out!

Don't fancy the idea at the moment, but ask me again when I'm a week overdue.

I did google the cot death/moses basket suggestion when I read it and found absolutely nothing to link the two. I do have one, and will be using it still. I don't have a cot yet, so no real choice.

hotmama · 06/02/2006 16:56

Don't fancy the castor oil idea - labour and the runs don't sound a good combination.

I didn't have a Moses basket with dd1 but have got one for dd2. I have a drop sided crib - this is where dd2 will sleep during the night.

I have a bouncy chair thing that lies flat, the intention was that dd1 would nap in that during the day - never really worked hence I have bought a Moses basket for dd2. Never heard of the risks re Moses baskets.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 06/02/2006 16:57

Lol FS, really did it work! I think hotmama should try it tonight then!

4b1p good luck

3k, hurrah! things are going your way at last

Well I've just ploughed through the accounts for the last week, phew......all done now, just the monthly reconciling for Jan to do....which I'm leaving until I get a spare sec, as had enough for today, and have to get dd soon, have also run out and done the post and got my scan form from the quacks as midwife didn't have one on her earlier, so went n brought cheapy shower curtins too for the HB......
Off to NEC to have a look around Spring Fair tomorrow, have threatened to give birth on BIL's Company Stand!! he's papping himself, like that's going to happen ( I shall obviously find a hideously expensive baby and nursery stand to give birth on if it comes to it, in the hope of freebies!!mmmmmm quite like Kaloo now I think about it!)
So if I don't catch you again today ladies, or indeed tomorrow, have a good one and I hope to be back to lots of new babies??!
