Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

Morning girls

Now 8 days overdue - what bliss

I'm trying to be positive and think at least I will have dd2 by the weekend as I am booked to have an induction on Thurs if things don't start happening before.

Yet again, I was convinced things were happening last night - but no still fell asleep and woke up in the morning.

I found a good archive thread re induction, think I may start one off asking specifically about pain relief and inductions as this is what is worrying me the most - it seems if you are having a drip then you may as well book an epidural as it so painful but I really want to try and avoid an assisted birth. A C-section is my worst nightmare - how do you cope with the recovery and a 16 month old?

Oh well, must stop being pessimistic and wish some labour vibes before Thursday.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 09:42

Hee hee hee, quite right too!

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 09:43

That's to Tabs by the way

hotmama · 06/02/2006 09:43

Good on you Tabs re the posting - imo the post from Cod is against the spirit of what mn should be about.

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 09:44

Bad night here too - luckily DD slept lovely, but I decided that pineapple and doritos suring the evening were a good plan, so I spent the night feeling sick with heartburn Still got niggly tummy ache, but nothing proper, just aches.

Headache and queasy today - think I'm going to have a day in pjs watching lots of disney.

Chloe - the Tabs/Cod incident was over Soupdragon having a baby... she'd kept it secret, and Cod was being her normal self, and said that it was because she didn't want to be on the vomit inducing antenatal threads (or something similar) - Tabs fought back .

My dad called me this morning, to ask what he could buy for the baby... he's talking double buggies and things - big stuff. I have no idea, what with only being 2 1/2 weeks away, and either having everything left from last time, or having bought it all by now! Both my step sisters are now pregnant, so I was assuming that there wasn't much floating round in the way of money, so didn't ask if he wanted to help when I was buying nappies. I might see if he wants to contribute towards the nappies we already have - I don't know if he'll be happy with that or if he will want to buy something solid that he orders all by himself (from a link I send him ). Argh. Good to see he's as organised as ever!!!

Hope someone starts today - think its too early to comment on HM's absence... Wonder how Morgan's doing.....

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 09:45

oops - I took so long posting that you appeared!

Jasnem · 06/02/2006 09:49

Hotmama, I did have a c section with DD2 (and a 15 month gap). If the worst happened you would cope...I had my father in law stay for a week after we came out of hospital, so wasn't completely on my own at all 'til she was 10 days. I know it wasn't what I wanted, but I managed (just did everything veryy slowly).

All my best labour vibes are going to you, though, in the hope of a speedy natural birth later today.

hotmama · 06/02/2006 10:07

Thanks Jasnem - a positive thought is just what I need.

If the worst happens, I can book dd1 into Nursery full-time for a couple of weeks - but don't really want to do this. Luckily, dp and my mum will help - I'm probably worrying unnecessarily.

(Come on babies!)

MrsDoolittle · 06/02/2006 10:58

Morning Ladies
Yeah, your right. I know it was silly to let Cod annoy me. I think I'm easily irritated at the moment.

I have woken up this morning feeling peculiar and not unlike how Chloe feels. I know baby is well down because as I walk it feel like he could drop out onto the floor, you know the feeling when you move form side to side. My supra pubis has also become extra sensitive. I feel slightly nauseous but that could be either because I am posting on an antenatal thread or more likely the curry form last night still workig it's way down! I felt it popping and spluttering it way down as I got out of bed this morning.
I'm quite convinced I can't go on like this for long though.

But I'm hanging around here waiting for all your news. These threads tend to het really active as we are all on maternity leave and becoming less mobile.

Jasnem - I really wouldn't worry about an induction. The truth is when it happens you will 'go with the flow'. Your body will tell you what you need to do and what you don't want. I don't think it's possible to make rational decisions about that now and expect to follow through. I mean, I wanted a water birth in a tiny community hospital with 4 beds first time. I ended up with induction and an epidural. Essentially I was very pleased to have an absolutely beautiful, healthy baby girl at the end of it and I didn't need stitches.

Sorry I meant that to hotmama not Jasnem.

Tabs · 06/02/2006 11:01

lol about being nauseous MrsD!!!

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 11:03

I keep threatening to get off this computer, but it ain't happening.

I think I actually preferred it when I had housework coming out of my ears... now I only have a teeny bit, I can easily do it later so I end up here longer. DD is currently taking her babies to the shops, so doesn't want me .

Still feel sick

MrsDoolittle · 06/02/2006 11:06

Okay I'm going to take a soak in the bath now.

OP posts:
Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 11:14

I'm like that too Flame, I look about and think, well DH should be home about 7ish, housework will take me maybe 45 mins max now, getting bath/shower and dressed max of an hour so that leaves....................all day on here!!!!

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 11:19

I was serious considering not doing the dressed thing today....

Oh, and to top it off... I split the bum in my pjs last night . I just want to state it wasn't a size thing - I sat down on them, and somehow had piles of fabric at the front, and pulled them too tight at the bum... being very soft, very well loved cotton, they just tore! I don't think they will be fixable either - they are so thin now, I think any sewing will just make it worse.

Helen38 · 06/02/2006 11:52

Still here.

MW this morning, bp up a bit and have fat feet again, plus had to take rings off as werev tight have got to try to rest and fone her if i get a head ache. But she did say didn'tthink would stay in for much longer and is going to come a week wednesday to try and encourage it if still in there

Come on people lets have some more babies

I was induced with ds1, had 1 lot of gel then they broke my waters, yes contractions came thick and fast but i did it with my tens. Just because you are induced doesn't mean you will need the drip, everyone is different.

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 12:09

Anyone else just wanting to hug Spacecadet? I am thinking of both her and Amanda sooo much, but know that best wishes from someone still pregnant is going to make it hurt even more. SC knows thats why I've been keeping my head down, but I still keep wanting to say something.

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 12:43

I'm with you on that one Flame - hae seen her thread but felt inappropriate to post IYSWIM

Jasnem · 06/02/2006 12:56

Me , too. I thought long and hard about it, but decided not to for the same reasons.

MrsDoolittle · 06/02/2006 12:57

Glad I'm not the only one

hotmama · 06/02/2006 13:19

Just for a laugh I've measured my bump again - it is now 115 cm - 5cm more than last week - eek. Haven't put any weight though - hopefully the bump has just dropped so is bigger around the middle.

I obviously am just seriously bored!

I know how you feel about the girls we lost along the way - i've read SCs post - but didn't feel I could post.

TicTac · 06/02/2006 13:19

Chloe - I can't believe Peyia is 2 weeks old either! We have been to register her birth today. We got a lovely folder with all sorts of bits in there. Including a book from the governemtn on how to take care of your child....oh please, is there anything this government don't try to dictate?!?!

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 13:24

Talking of which, did I tell you all that my HV told me not to use my Moses basket as it has been linked to cot deaths? I panicked, took it back to Mothercare and bought a bedside crib instead (which I have to say I love) but after speaking to others nobody has heard of this 'new' claim? Weird.

Tabs · 06/02/2006 13:27

With you all on SC and Amanda. Wanted to go and visit to help out (think she's less than a couple of hours away) in response to the 'let's support sc' thread, but figured I probably wasn't what she needed, so settled for a donation in the end. Sadly no amount of donations are going to help her feel better emotionally.
