Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

Just the word "oil" in castor oil put me off... I don't actually know what it is like though! I coudl stomach the Milk of magnesia, which is why I tried it.

The runs in labour - I woke up with stomach pains, went lots for the next hour or so, and then was completely empty. In some ways it was nice - none of the whole "will I poo?" issue

hotmama · 06/02/2006 17:03

Flame - TMI.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 06/02/2006 17:06

Hotmama, have to say I had a good clearout before hand too, didn't you? thought it was the norm?

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 17:07

Mum has just been round and has mentioned, at least 10 times, for me and DH to have sex tonight to get things moving. The thought of it at the mo is just not appealing, still have tummyache and literally don't think there is any spare room up there! My sil had castor oil in orange juice and 2 hours later went into labour, not sure if co-incidence or not. I wonder why my HV brought up the whole Moses basket thing then? Must admit my sil who is a HV in Lancashire said she had not heard of it either.

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 17:08

Tis always good to share!

hotmama · 06/02/2006 17:08

I did have a natural clearout - but not one brought on by milk of magnesia or castor oil.

Mind you by the end of tomorrow I'll be trying anything to avoid an induction!

Jasnem · 06/02/2006 17:08

I think it's a fairly common sympton of early labour, and as Flame said, if you don't clear out, there is a risk of poohing whilst pushing!

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 17:10

My fear would be though that at least a solid poo can be quickly removed but what if you don't fully empty your system with diarrhoea? Sorry, I know TMI

hotmama · 06/02/2006 17:10

Chloe - your mum giving sex advice is really going to get you in the mood!

I don't think I can bring myself to mention sex to dp - I just don't think it is logistically possible - think I might wait for the prostaglandin pessary.

hotmama · 06/02/2006 17:11

PMSL - we are getting desperate - this thread is turning to discussions about pooh and wee!

MrsDoolittle · 06/02/2006 17:13

I gotta get me some milk of magnesia stuff.
I ppo'd during labour last time and although we all laugh about it now, I'm still embarrassed
I've been eating wheat bran and plain yoghurt all day in an attempt to avoid it.

Actually, I'm feeling pretty crap at the moment. Probably because bump is actually feeling quite comfortable - I think it engages in and out. He's out at the moment. So that makes me feel he's going to be there forever and I really wanted him out now!

I shouldn't go on really as I've only just gone 38 weeks. BUT everyone said I would be early this time!!!!

For all of you out there reading this and groaning at the nauseating or moaning ante natal threads. Sod off !!!if you don't like it

I thought about sex yesterday, and then felt really guilty because my response to myself was "Do I really want this baby out that much?"

I just keep thinking back to all the jessicasmummy threads - she was trying all these methods from about 37 weeks too. Miserable, hot and thoroughly fed up. With a codbashing to go with it.

Makes me feel perfectly normal!

I did think about sex, too, but decided I'm not that desperate yet...will i go for diarrhoea or sex when I am desperate though?

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 17:19

Worrying thing is... I'll not be going for the sex .

Still sat here in my stinky pjs... might go put some clean ones on!

Jasnem · 06/02/2006 17:24

I put my dungarees on over my nightshirt this morning, did the school run, back to bed, then did the same this afternoon for picking up time.
I did dye my hair yesterday in a small attempt to look nice in all the photos that get taken with new babies.

Oh, am with DP. He told his dad the baby's sex yesterday. I don't mind that in itself, but both the girls were within eavesdropping distance, and I'm not sure if they took it in or not.

MrsDoolittle · 06/02/2006 17:27

I suggested some natural prostaglandin treatment to dh last night. Said he was too tired but we might have a try tonight.
Not romantic atall, but well....gotta try

Can you believe some of us would rather go for the diarrhoea option to the thing that got us all here in the first place?! Saying that, maybe that's why

Tabs · 06/02/2006 19:06

Can't believe that I missed all of this conversation whilst in the bath! Was a long bath though .

DH mentioned earlier that he'd heard nipple tweaking was supposed to help, but his enthusiasm only extended to about 30 seconds of it! I've also read that clitoral stimulation can help, but more inclined to get the rabbit out than let DH near me!

Going to bounce on my birthing ball for a bit this evening and see what good that does me.

I notice that there's still no cuffy though - reckon it must have happened for her you know.

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 19:20

Oooh yeah it must have for Cuffy, can't wait to hear from her, she is at the same hospital as me too so I will hopefully get the chance to ask her what the staff are like.

I've been sticking with the rabbit for a couple of months now - DH can't see past the swolleness of my bits due to the pressure Not that I'm bothered but also feel a bit like a freak, he says I have porn star flaps at the mo!!!

Tabs · 06/02/2006 19:26

Perhaps he should photograph them then for posterity!

Chloe55 · 06/02/2006 19:45

I ave been assured everything goes back to normal - please tell me this is true or I may never have a sex life again!!!!

Jasnem · 06/02/2006 19:57

I have the same problem, and will be seriously worried if it doesn't go back to normal.
I did ask the midwife about it, as it's something new for me, and she was confident it isn't permanent!
