Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

Gee there are not many left on here now are there...good luck to those still "pending" their babies!

Peyia is still not back to her birth weight

Helen38 · 14/02/2006 15:51

Tictac, it took ds2 ages to get back to his, it sometimes does, as long as she is feeding ok and putting some on is probably fine, are you worried?

TicTac · 14/02/2006 16:58

Helen, I am not worried as such but constantly questioning my ability to breastfeed. I am sure it is just me being paranoid. She seems to be doing well in all other areas and is generally a happy baby so I guess all is well.

Jasnem · 14/02/2006 16:59

well considering there's not many of us left, you've been quite chatty!
Well done Chloe - I remember the stitches well - I'm sure having them was the worst bit for me of the whole birth. They do heal quite quickly though. Hope things are well for you, DH, and Oscar.

Flame, thanks, I will email you in a bit. My only email is my real name, otherwise I would have put it up. Just a little paranoid.

Already forgotten what else I've just read!

My news for today...
I have 25 lovely new nappies that I bought on ebay last week.
They are brand new 2nds and were really cheap, so Ive been playing with them this afternoon.(sad, Me?). 24 aare now in the wash, and the last is being worn by my friends 2 year old - she ran out when here this pm. He is not impressed by them at all, buthe's used to disposables, so I'm ignoring his opinion.

I'll be here lots tomorrow DDs are going in to London for the day with my parents, so I get a whole day free to do nothing.

Jasnem · 14/02/2006 17:05

Tic Tac -I remember being worried like that in the early days. As long as she seems well and you are getting wet nappies then it's highly unlikely anything is wrong.
It really is that hard work to start with!

I promise you it gets sooo much easier (soon) that it is worth it.

Thell · 14/02/2006 18:09

My DH bought me two pots of nice smoked fish pate for Valentine's Day!!
He knows I can't eat them yet - it's supposed to be a nice treat to look forward to after the birth,...but what about now?! I might have to wait another 4 weeks to eat them, and they'll just be sitting there staring at me every time I open the fridge!

Bless him, he struggled to think of something to get at the last minute
The gorgeous man sent me flowers last week just to say 'thank you' for putting up with his stressheading while we moved

Jasnem · 14/02/2006 18:18

Would it really do any harm this late?
Don't really know why you shouldn't eat it as I'm veggie anyway, but I suspect I'd give in if I really like it.

I got...nothing at all. Just a "sorry" when he got in. It just as well I know him well enough not to have been expecting anything! And if I ever got flowers without multiple prompts first, I'd probably be really worried!

Thell · 14/02/2006 18:29

The pate thing is about risk of listeria - my books suggest that only canned pate is safe, or stuff you have just made fresh yourself. Not even bought mushroom pate is allowed .

Thell · 14/02/2006 18:30

The first of our NCT group gave birth at 12.30 this morning. Rather scary, as her due date was the day before mine

Jasnem · 14/02/2006 18:36

I haven't been secretly eating mushroom pate.

Would now be a good time to mention that I have eaten brie and camembert at regular intervals in the past 9 months, though?
This was done on the basis that my sil in France did(it's not suggested otherwise over there at all), and... well, I like it.

I suppose if your stuff keeps for that long it's best to be safe and enjoy it though.
Don't say 4 weeks , though - you're only due ten days after me! That's too long.

Jasnem · 14/02/2006 18:39

Thell - you must be 38 weeks now, if you had yours today , she wouldn't even be premature!
Are you not quite ready by any chance?

Twiga · 14/02/2006 19:14

Hi all, congrats to everyone who's babies have arrived and all the best to those still waiting . I don't know if any of you remember popadopolis, well she's doing well and hanging on in there - is now 6 days overdue. She hasn't been in touch as she no longer has internet access but sends her best to all. I'll let you know once little pops arrives, lol x

Flamesparrow · 14/02/2006 19:23

Thankyou Twiga - been wondering about her!

3k · 14/02/2006 22:12

Hi All,

Well we are home after Ben's arrival on Sunday afternoon. He weighed 8lbs 4oz.

Had a rough time of it really as my waters went on Friday evening and we had to be induced on Saturday at 5pm. After applying the gel and checking me I was 1cm dilated and that was at 6pm. At 1am they came to check on me and still 1cm and no contractions so they decided to put me on a drip which I had been set up for as I was having antibiotics every 4 hours due to waters breaking 24 hours previous. The drip started to take effect at around 6am and I was having very strong contractions every 2 mins. They checked me and I was still only 1cm dilated but managed to get to 3cm by 8am. With every contraction the baby's heartbeat was dropping quite low and they said there was a chance of c-section. I wasnt allowed pethadine as this could make the baby drousy and more distressed so I requested an epidural (which is fab by the way!!!!) and this was put in at 10.30am. They checked me again and said I hadn't dilated any further and I should have made more progress by then and also the head hadn't come down so they gave us the option of a secion or 4 more hours of labour which could end in section anyway as they didnt think I would progress. We decided to go with the section as I was shattered and the doctor said he thought we were making the right decision so Ben was born at 12.31pm. He is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! BF didnt go well so he is bottle feeding but he is very content and I am trying to express some colustrum for him just to give him a little of my nourishment. We came home today and I'm in pain from the section but so happy. He has lots of mousy hair and is perfect - well waiting all those years for and all those injections for IVF. DH just feeding him now then off to bed. DH made me a valentines card from him which said "To mummy, Happy Valentine's Day Love you lots - Benx" it made me cry!!!!!

Congrats to Chloe and Hotmama. Hope you other ladies are doing ok and look forward to more birth announcements soon.

3k · 14/02/2006 22:15

Forgot to add, Ben had his cord wrapped around his neck which is why his little heartrate was dropping. He is well worth every stitch and bruise though

misdee · 14/02/2006 22:28

sorry, just had to post something as you were stuck at 666posts, not a good number.

all the best girls!

Jasnem · 14/02/2006 22:36

Thanks misdee
we never get stuck for long!

3K congratulations on the birth of Ben. Great to hear of another safe arrival, and that you are so obviously enjoying him. Hope your recovery is quick, as it sounds like you had a really hard time.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 15/02/2006 05:23

Well girls just woke up at 4.30 and threw my guts up, which has so far given me to random contractions, tho only across top of bump, dh sat on sofa panicing....me sat on mumsnet thinking, well is this it the start of no2 or not? actually starting to get lots of bottom pressure, like I need a clear out too......will obviously keep you informed! as I know these 2nd ones can take time and its probably nothing

Well we had a lovely day out with dd, saw Bob the Builder, so she's happy, and went swimming, ss got to play on lots of arcades and fairground rides, and all got to play in the sand, so good family day out!! Bump seemed to spend most of the day pushing in various directions, some of which were very uncomfy! ho hum eh!

Helen, phew glad ds is on mend, I was having selective memory re sickness too......flame I didn't/haven't asked about shots for sickness,

(sorry girls just ran off to be sick again then....bug or the start?) dh is not looking happy as he just had to clean toilet afterwards (cause he's spectating and I'm being sick right!)

Will send dh to get ibrupofen!

Chloe congrats re Oscar, will look for birth announcement

Thell I too have some pate, but mine arrived at Xmas!!! waiting to eat too! (its canned)

Twiga, thanks for the news re popa, hope she pops soon.

Right that's me off to sit on ball for a bit and see if anything happens, or if I just have a horrible pukey bug......ttfn

Jasnem · 15/02/2006 05:36

Morning, Frizbe - I've been up for a while, but sadly I know it's just because the rain leaking through my landing ceiling woke me!
DP has just got up for work, so I'll go back to bed when he's gone (he leapt out of bed pretty sharpish when the alarm went off and I wasn't there, though).

Really hope yours turns into something more productive than sickness (I had that last week and it was not nice!)

Helen38 · 15/02/2006 08:09

Hello!

Frizbe, how' it going????? Is it happening????

You are due the same day as me and I am hoping things might get moving today, mw coming to do a sweep this pm as I had a show over 2 weeks ago and have been pretending to start on and off ever since plus the SPD is getting more than uncomfy but want to avoid induction due to c-sec scar and really don't want another c-sec so she is going to try to encourage it

DH is coming to work from home to be around so that the boys don't come bursting in saying "what's the lady doing to you mummy ?" and other such things !! some things I am just not ready to explain to my very interested nearly 7 yr old he knows how it will come out basicly but doesn't need too many details. Anyway this means I won't get near the computer this pm as he will be in here so if I don't post it doesn't mean I'm in labour, although that would be nice!

Isn't it odd this having a baby stuff? Can't think of any other possible reason for me to be wanting lots of pain to happen, it's a good job they're worth it.

Tic tac I'm sure you are doing fine, babies let you know quick enough if they are not getting enough

Hmmmmm, I was crawling around my (wooden) bedroom floor last night at 10 washing it, is this normal?????

Jasnem · 15/02/2006 08:24

Hello again - crawling is always good isn't it Helen? Hope things get going for you today
My DDs have a fairly clear idea now of all the exit options for my baby ( as I've had a cs and normal delivery so far). Did you ask for a sweep? Nothings been suggested to me, and like you I'd really like a VBAC this time.

Frizbe - hoping that no news is good news. Fingers crossed.

Back later on, when kids are settled and off out for the day with my parents.

Helen38 · 15/02/2006 08:26

MW suggested it so i said yes as want it out soon after all the treatening it's been doing.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 15/02/2006 09:13

Hi Ladies, things have died down for the moment Like I say threw up for quite some time, contracted every 15 mins until 6.15am, when I thought stuff it, have a bath and see if it speeds things up! it slowed things down to every 20mins......then I caught myself dropping off in the bath, so crawled out and back into bed, where I've managed roughly 1.5hrs dozing, the kids are now awake and I've just had a bit of a clear out (ahem) but no contractions that I'm currently noticing?? guessing a false alarm????

Jas sorry to read about your celing leak, what a pain!

Helen, hope the sweap gets things moving for you

Hope everyone else is ok on here this am, will check in again later. (Flame if things really kick off I'll txt u!)

ixel · 15/02/2006 09:27

Nothing happening here either! Couldn't have my sweep from the midwife yesterday, as the baby is still too high up. But she did pack me off to the day unit today for another bp check. Last time it took 50 mins to get there... this morning's appointment was at 8am, so I set out 7am. And got there 7.18am!! Typical. Not even the cafe was open You can never tell with buses! And I'm there again tomorrow for my overdue appointment. Might aswell set up camp!
