Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Helen38 · 13/02/2006 10:39

Been to mw, bp fine today, nothing interesting to report really, going to try and do something useful now!!!!!

Flame don't worry about the cough stuff, they just can't test on us pg women, it's not like taking it in the very early days and you didn't drink the whole bottle did you?????

Flamesparrow · 13/02/2006 10:48

Yup, ours is up... DD on very strict "don't touch ever" instructions (and she is actually paying attention ). It needs more air in it though... DH got bored during the dry run and didn't completely finish!!

Thell · 13/02/2006 10:53

Blimey. We'd be halving our living space if we left our pool up!!

Have you seen this?
He is absolutely adorable.

Master Doolittle

Flamesparrow · 13/02/2006 10:56

We have just been eating in the lounge, and the dining room has been put out of commission. It was meant to be being deflated (I am worrying about it getting all dusty inside it...), but that was a DH job that never happened!!! He keeps putting it off, I think he's hopign I'll go into labour eventually and it won't be an issue anymore

TicTac · 13/02/2006 12:15

Bloody Hell Morgan - I thought my 4 hours was fast!!
Congrats on the birth of your daughter!

3K - Congrats....you made it!!

Thell · 13/02/2006 12:25

Midwives have been!!
Three in total - one to do the booking and ante-natal check, one to observe her doing it (bit officious- didn't really warm to her) and a new student, who just watched! Very cosy in our tiny living room!!
The main one was lovely though - I want her to be at the birth and at one point she even winked and said - 'make sure you go into labour when I'm on duty'
Made me realise how much tidying up still has to be done though. [mutters and grumbles into her tea]

MrsDoolittle · 13/02/2006 12:26

Hi Ladies, I've just crashed out of bed now. The initial euphoria is beginning to give way to complete exhaustion. Also the after pains are far worse this time round and I need to keep up the paracetamol 4 hourly.
Obviously, I've loads to catch up on. Loads of babies this weekend!!!

Thank you all for you lovely responses to us

Your little man is beautiful Mrs D

One of my NCT group went into labour yesterday - yoinks! All 6 of us are due within 5 days of each other, so this is getting a bit unnerving!
Too much mopping and tidying still to be done,...!

4blue1pink · 13/02/2006 14:30

still here...my sister goes back home 275 miles away today and my friend goes skiing on friday...those are the only people i can rely on for looking after all four of my bairns.......
rang hospital and said when i go for late- appt tomorrow can i stay and be induced ...dh self emplyed - need locum for him - locum booked time running out - no childcare etc etc etc..

They said 'no' only induce after 14 days...

i just feel terrible - other people get induced for spd at 28 weeks - i suffer with that - have hardly been to midwives at all and now will probably have to be induced alone whilst dh looks after children - two weeks late!

Helen38 · 13/02/2006 14:45

poor you

Can you not make a bit more fuss about the pain you are in with the spd? I made the mistake last time of just getting on with it and not grumbling but wish afterwards I had made more fuss as if I'd been induced might of avoided the c-sec. I can't remember who's done what, have you had a sweep yet? Can the at least do one of those? or another if have already had one.
Sending lots of labour vibes right now! A big hug too!

Jasnem · 13/02/2006 14:49

on your behalf 4b1p. You've had to wait long enough.

I feel better today, just got back from taking the kids swimming (lovely supervised activities so I didn't have to do anything). They liked it so much I've booked them in for Friday as well.
DP looked after the kids while I was ill, but did nothing else, so I'm going to start on the housework now.

Oh, if my experience yesterday is anything to go by, do not try the laxative approach to inducing labour!

Helen38 · 13/02/2006 14:53

I thought most hospitals 14days was the max over they like to let you go?

Am i wrong??????

hotmama · 13/02/2006 14:53

Hi everyone, haven't had time to read all the posts but will later on.

Evie Harriet was born at 10.06 a.m. on Friday 10th Feb and weighed 9lb.

I didn't need to be induced as I had started naturally on Thursday morning (phew) but I had yet another 'interesting' labour and delivery and eventually had a c-section and lost 5 pints of blood and had a transfusion - but I came home last night - so 3 days in hosp isn't too bad.

Bf going O.K. - but have bleeding nipples so am using nipple shields today - milk has just come in - so hopefully things will improve.

Feel knackered but happy. Will read all the posts soon. Will put all the details in a birth announcement.

Good luck to those on the way.

Hotmama xxx

Helen38 · 13/02/2006 14:56

Hotmama, glad you are ok, welcome too the world to Evie

OOh it's exciting , all these babies

Still no news of chloe???????

Jasnem · 13/02/2006 15:00

Congratulations Hotmama. 3 days in hosp is good after what you must have been through.Glad you are both safe and well. Will look out for more details on your announcement.

4B1P - I agree with Helen - definitely try making a bit more of a fuss when you go for your appt. Did you speak to the consultant when you rang? If you spoke to someone else it's definitely worth asking again, as they may have been just quoting their policy rather than taking your circumstances into account.

Tabs you are a star!

not so many of us left are there?

ixel · 13/02/2006 16:44

Tabs, how on earth are you finding time to still be milling around here??!!

Jasnem · 13/02/2006 16:44

Thanks Tabs
It's a bit scary seeing my name so near the top of the Due list, particularly as Chloe has probably had hers.
Still no word, Flame?

4blue1pink · 13/02/2006 17:15

congrats hotmama hope delivery was not too bad! wecome to little Evie!

thanks for advice girls..dh rang and just got a midwife he says we will be more pushy tomorrow but for a strong willed person i can be a pushover so we will see!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 13/02/2006 19:55

Crikey there's not many of us left at all (gibber)

Congratulations Hotmama and family, glad all is ok, even if the delivery wasn't quite what you were hoping for.....(at least now you won't be popping over to beat me up!)

4b1p, {{{Big Hugs}}} really hope you kick off naturally tonight! you deserve too, hopefully that'd mean you could avoid too much childcare probs.....

Flame, sure like Helen said cough med will be ok, talking of drinking the whole bottle of it, I have been tempted to do that with Benelyn before, is it just me or does that stuff taste nice!

Helen, has little one got anti b's then?? hope so, you need to get your rest in (but then you know that right!)

Thell re the stretchies, mine are currently better than last time for some odd reason?? and stuff the tidying, just chuck a shower curtain over it and get on with the birth thing!! then someone else can tidy it up later!!

So Mrs D are the afterpains really that bad 2nd time around, as I didn't notice any at all 1st time........I do recall someone suggesting going direct for the nurofen, but understand MW's tell you not to?? does anyone know why? as personally find paracetomol does nothing for me....

So what's the betting I give birth tonight, just cause we have a family day out planned tomorrow?! we're all off to the seaside to see Bob the Builder, Gp's, ss, dd, dh and I......bound to happen isn't it!
PS: Dh still hasn't cleared that bloody room, Argh, what do I have to do?? [gives up emoticon]

4blue1pink · 13/02/2006 20:05

i know.....its all gone very quiet!

Flamesparrow · 13/02/2006 20:07

Still no word from Chloe

HM - Yay! Been asking for news of you all weekend! Sorry that it wasn't the best of births though

Everyone else... I've pretty much already forgotten what I read . Went swimming today, slept a lot of the afternoon and then went to the birthday party. Been feeling sick since I woke this afternoon, think its just the cold coming out. Back aches lots as does bump. Just feeling sorry for myself really...

4B1P - I'm with the others, push harder for the induction... tell them about your spd agony etc.

I'd heard that afterpains get worse with each child, so was already pre-warned about that.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 13/02/2006 20:08

OK so has anyone else developed a thing for smells, I really can't get enough of either olbas oil or Karvol....ahem.....
