Hoping to carry on the brilliant thread started by misscoffeenwine which was so popular we got to 1000 posts before starting another - come over and join me...... Promise to think of a more original name for Part 3!

Glad you had a good scan flipflopper! :)

Following on from my earlier post, I've been looking at pregnancy pillows - haven't even got one of those yet, been using normal pillows so far, but finding them a bit bulky.

Sorry, this has probably been discussed before, but what sort of pillows do people recommend? I seem to remember DreamGenie being mentioned as being good. I'm interested to see they are a weird shape, with an extra bit on the end... I was expecting them all to be just a sausage shape. It looks comfy to lie on, but wonder if this bit makes it less useful later on for breastfeeding? If anyone has any advice I'd be very grateful!

bump4 · 24/04/2012 14:46

Got my 20 week scan at 3:30- so nervous as had a rocky start to the pregnancy with surgery and x-rays- so fingers crossed all will be ok.

Congrats to all those who have already had their 20 week scans, we are team surprise (but I think it is a boy!)

MrsHelsBels74 · 24/04/2012 15:17

Glad to hear scans are going well, mine is still 2 weeks away & I can't wait! Am getting regular beatings from the bump!

ST82 · 24/04/2012 18:11

Hi everyone, i am due 26 of September!!! Really very excited, this is my first baby and will find out the sex in just over 2 weeks. I have a strong feeling it's a girl :) but we will see!

Have started to show in the last couple fo weeks and have been feeling teh baby for the same period of time as well. I swear sugar makes it more active! I had percy piggs the other night and it would not stop moving :)

Generally feeling great, i have been lucky enough not to experience any morning sickness at all. My appetite hasn't been great but it is def picking up in the last couple of days. Eating loads of healthy stuff ie fruits, vegs, drinking loads of water but also allowing myself a little treat every now and then :)

So glad i found this thread as i was looking for the DUE IN SEPT crew! :)

best of luck to everyone and much love xx

twizzlestix · 24/04/2012 18:47

Welcome newbies :)
Gosh! Hospitals will be VERY busy this Sept! We were already a large group and we're gaining members daily at the moment too :)

Congrats on scan flipflopper

bump4 · 24/04/2012 22:35

Scan was 1/2 ok, all the measurements were fine, baby was wriggling well, but they couldn't see all that they needed to see with the heart- we were sent away for a jiggle for 1/2hr and then had to see a senior sonographer- who was soooo rough and even though baby had moved still couldn't see all that he needed to see.

They didn't really say much and we have to go back for another scan next Thursday- so worried that something isn't right as had general anaesthetic, x-rays, morphine and really bad food poisoning in the first trimester- hoping that the babe was just not big enough to see all needed.

ballroomblitz · 24/04/2012 23:50

Hello to all the new people.

Congratulations on the good scan news flipflopper

The doctors would have said if they suspected something to be wrong bump4 would they not? Try not to worry - we have all done things that aren't best for the baby at the start before we know we are pregnant. It's usually when the baby isn't relying on our bodies and what we put into them. I know I definately have both times and I think most women have unless they have actively been trying to conceive. Hoping the next week goes in quickly for you so you can put your mind at rest.

rightontime · 25/04/2012 12:49

Bump, It is very common not to be able to see everything and will have nothing to do with your surgery etc. with DS1 I had anaesthetic, antib's etc and he was fine. They did call me back 2 weeks later after the 20week scan because his positioning meant they couldn't see. This baby we were sent for a walk at the 12 and 20 week scans becuase it was awkward and laid funny. After waiting it moved so that they could see but if they don't move enough then you are asked to come back in a week or 2.

Welcome and Congratulations to the newbies. Grin

Got a scan at 22weeks next week, 2nd May, any scan buddies for that one? This will be the one that determines whether I can be released from specialist care or not...

Am I the only one who has never felt the butterfly, bubbles popping type movements? Mine go from a slight pressure in the early weeks to proper jabs. It is not comfortable at all. Especially when LO seems to aim at my cervix. Its not a gentle poke but proper full blown kicks. Still not able to be felt by DP on the outside but very owee on the inside. Quite jealous of these gentle movements you all seem to feel Envy

ladygagoo · 25/04/2012 14:51

rightontime I am getting beaten up by the baby inside whilst DP can still not feel anything on the outside. Mine went from slight movements one week (about 17weeks) to proper thumping and cervix trampolining the next (now 20weeks).

Nothing like the gradual bubbles or butterflies I had read about!!

Hope today's scans went well Thali, GingerT and Shoeprincess and yours tomorrow Macaroons. Fingers crossed for good ones. Let us know how you got on.

leelteloo · 25/04/2012 16:26

rightontime we've got our 20 week scan on the 2nd too Smile

gingertessa · 25/04/2012 17:39

All fine on the scan today, I am so relieved! Baby was lying on its back head down looking towards my anterior placenta, which meant our lovely sonographer couldn't measure the head properly. I was told to come back after my antenatal clinic appointment (which was a 50 minute wait for absolutely nothing as they hadn't got my old echocardiogram report which was the whole point of me being there!). When I got scanned again baby had moved into a breech position so she could complete the measurements :)

Hope my scan buddy Thali had a good experience today, plus everyone else with upcoming scans x

shoeprincess2 · 25/04/2012 18:31

So I had my 20 week scan with the consultant this morning. It was the most amazing 30 minutes. I can't believe how much detail of everything I saw- she even showed me the blood flow to/from the heart, by way of blue and red lights. Everything is in order (phew)- I have been so worried since having the raised nuchal fold reading. I am having a fetal cardiac scan in 4 weeks, as I kind of asked for one (plus, it is going to double up as a growth scan, as my little boy was 10lb 12oz and I'm only a slip of a girl!) The consultant said that she couldn't see anything wrong with the organs at all. Me and my partner are so relieved.

Bump4- in my experience, they tell you upfront what they think is wrong. So, i agree that it is probably just a positioning or size thing. They don't tend to leave you guessing if it is anything potentially problematic. Let us know how it goes next Thursday.

I look forward to reading updates on all the other scans. They are truly amazing to see. Hugs to all. I'm feeling quite giddy today, after 7 weeks of worry, worry, worry Grin

Thali34 · 25/04/2012 22:35

gingertessa and shoeprincess, so glad it went well today! Ours did too, was lovely to see Baby again. Was also amazed at all the detail, and relieved that it was straightforward to get measurements. We didn't find out the sex, although DH would have quite liked to. But he was happy to wait for a surprise and the sonographer was very discreet. Another milestone reached! Hope all goes well for the rest of this weeks scans!

oikopolis · 26/04/2012 00:00

lovely to hear all the happy scan news :)

pgreen · 26/04/2012 09:52

fantastic hearing all this scan news. bump4 I really would try not to worry.

At my 12wk scan I had to go and empty my bladder - dah drank too much water apparently, then go for a walk, then get up and so a few salsa moves (wiggle wiggle hips) to get him to move around. For 20 wk thankfully he was a good un and everything was visible. shoeprincess2 isn't it great to see the blood flow and everything. My sonographer said that when I come back for my later scans (28, 32, 34 and 36 wks) they might be able to see the baby swallowing amnio - again they use the blue and red effect.... how cool!

I'm getting proper prods this week from my little baby boy but Dh hasn't felt a thing yet and getting very annoyed - I'm sure its only a matter of weeks though...

Someone mentioned a pregnancy pillow - I'm going to buy one of those sausage shaped ones. I've been using feather pillows (as they compress nicely) but DH finding they are creeping his way - I lose them in the night basically....

Good luck for the rest of scans ladies

Macaroons · 26/04/2012 10:50

Welcome to more newbies!!

Just had the scan. Everything is normal, can see the 4 heart chambers, spine, kidney, brain, 2 arms, 2 legs, nose, upper lip etc.

And....... We will be having a BOY!Grin

PollyIndia · 26/04/2012 11:15

I'm due 27th Sept (though I am sure it will be an october baby as everyone in y family goes over and the 40 week thing is so arbitrary).
20 week scan 2 weeks today. Not finding out the sex. It will be nice to have the surprise I think.
I have a proper bump and been offered a seat on the tube quite a bit now, which is the acid test! Not felt anything really yet though... thought I did when I was running and at the marathon, but can't be sure and not felt it again.
Hope everything is ok with the little bean.

elliemay80 · 26/04/2012 11:39

Conratulations on recent scans!

Welcome PollyIndia. I'm sure everything is fine. I didn't feel anything (apart from a slight flutter at 14 weeks which may or may not have been the baby) until 20 weeks on the dot. Am now 21+2 and feeling movement several times a day but it's only been regular this week really. I'm sure all is fine.

flipflopper · 26/04/2012 11:42

macaroons Congratulations! A little boy, how lovely!
pollyindia welcome! Sure you will be feeling some movement soon, is it your first? Also, maybe you have an anterior placenta, which makes it more difficult to feel. Am i reading it right that you ran the marathon??

Whatevertheweather · 26/04/2012 11:50

Hi all Smile I've been reading all your lovely scan news but resisting posting again until we had our scan. Well we had it yesterday and all was well! Huge huge relief but know there's still a way to go. We found out the sex for the first time and we're expecting another little girl Grin DD3! Feeling a bit conflicted after losing dd2 but was so happy to be able to tell dd1 finally and she is thrilled. Only 16 weeks left for me now as they will do elcs at 37 weeks. Eeek doesn't seem that long. Feeling lots of lovely regular movements now too but like everyone else nothing on the outside yet.

Look forward to hearing more scan news over the next few weeks. Has the lady with triplets been posting?

PollyIndia · 26/04/2012 11:50

Ha, I thought as I posted that flipflopper that it might read like that! No, I went for run then separately went to support the marathon! Defo no marathon running this year!! Yes, it's my first. Thanks to you and elliemay - I am sure you are both right. I'll be glad when I've had the 20 week scan assuming all is ok.

TinkerMaloo · 26/04/2012 13:46

definite strong outside movement to be felt! anyone else getting this yet? :) and im 20+3 (or 20+6 if you believe the scan measurement... but i cant have conceived 3 days before we had sex that time can i?...)

Any way CONGRATS to all!!!!
