Hoping to carry on the brilliant thread started by misscoffeenwine which was so popular we got to 1000 posts before starting another - come over and join me...... Promise to think of a more original name for Part 3!

Congratulations on your scans pgreen and Iph. Grin at your dh's Higgs Boson.

WinkyWinkola · 20/04/2012 19:59

I'm pretty certain I'm having a boy. Saw something at what turned out to be a 15 week scan and asked if it was a willy. The sonographer said, "You've got a good eye. That's all I'm saying."

rightontime · 21/04/2012 11:19

Iph it is amazing what they can see isn't it. I saw little one yawning. Very sweet.

Congratulations to the good scans and yay for a boy pgreen

MrsHelsBels74 · 22/04/2012 13:51

Glad to have found this thread just wish I'd found it a few weeks back Have had a rough few weeks (high risk of Down's, amnio followed by severe allergic reaction to the antiseptic etc etc) but results came back fine so can get back to the usual worrying about pregnancy stuff! Not sure what we're having yet, I keep calling the bump she but I was convinced my son was a girl too! Hope to find out at 20 week scan on 9th May.

Bakeroo · 22/04/2012 14:48

mrshelsbels welcome to the thread. Sounds like you've been through an awful lot but are through the worst Which is great news. It's nice to have you'd scan to look forward to, I'm sure that will be lovely and reassuring for you...also exciting to fine out what you're having. I'm having a surprise but still love to hear about everyone's discoveries.
Baby kicks are much stronger since last night and it's so nice....I could sit and feel it all day...wish it did it more ( currently I feel baby about 3/4 times a day) makes me smile every time!

ballroomblitz · 22/04/2012 21:03

Hi and welcome MrsHelsBels fingers crossed things will be on the up and up for you now and you can relax. You are my scan buddy. Mine's on the 9th May too.

Thali34 · 22/04/2012 22:17

Welcome mrsHelsBels. Lovely to hear all the scan news and pink or blue news. Our scan is this Wednesday 25th. Little bit nervous but hope it will be a happy outcome. will be keeping it a surprise tho think DH would actually quite like to find out. Been feeling lots of movements which is lovely. 2 or 3 weeks ago I thought they could be stomach gurglings etc but now it happens enough to make me pretty certain.

For this next scan, are we supposed to have a full bladder again, like last time? Or doesn't it matter now? (I failed last time, I felt I needed the loo all the time, and thought i'd drunk enough but the sonographer said it was empty! She was really nice about it, said personally she preferred it that way but just meant she had to press harder)

twizzlestix · 22/04/2012 22:40

Welcome mrshelsbels you do sound like you've had a stressful time! Hopefully it's all out of the way now and fingerscrossed for serenity and peace throughout the rest of your pregnancy :)

21weeks and still cannot feel definitive movements just feel (very rarely) an occasional swooshy flutter :( stupid anterior placenta :(

thali yes I had to have a full bladder. I needed to drink a pint so that's about 500ml.

gingertessa · 23/04/2012 08:06

Thali34 I've also got my scan this Wednesday - I hope everyone having scans this week gets positive news. I wasn't going to bother with a full bladder because the sonographer told me it didn't matter even at 12 weeks. We're not going to find out the sex so I can join team surprise as opposed to team blue and team pink!

MrsHelsBels74 · 23/04/2012 09:05

I've always been told a full bladder isn't necessary but I guess it depends on the sonographer.

lurkingmurking · 23/04/2012 11:30

Welcome mrshelsbels sorry you've had a rough ride so far!

Haven't posted for a few days and so much to catch up on!

Re hypnobirthing - highly highly recommend the book by Marie Mongan and listening to the CD it's great. I wouldn't pay out for classes though.

Fab news on lots of scans and pink and blue bumps! 9 sleeps until our scan!

Dunnitt · 23/04/2012 13:53

Hello. I have a question for anyone that may be a bit further ahead than me (17+4).

I have read that around now I should feel something called 'quickening' which are movements from the baby that are not strong enough to feel from the outside. Its described as a 'butterfly' sensation. Now I do feel something in my lower abdomen, but not sure it feels like anything 'butterfly' related.

Hard to describe what it feels like. But sort of like i have digestion problems!

Can anyone better decribe what 'quickening' is supposed to feel like?

Thanks

ladygagoo · 23/04/2012 13:57

We just had our scan today - was lovely to see the baby again. We're on team surprise and the sonographer was really good about not showing anything so it really will be a surprise. It was a really nice experience, baby was head down and facing my belly button, kicking its legs out loads and was busy swallowing amniotic fluid which was cool to watch. The baby also seems to have very long legs, but as I am 5'8 and DP 6'3 I guess its not really surprising. The sonographer also took 3 pictures for us and didn't charge - lovely lady :)

I didn't need a full bladder Thali and they do press quite hard so I wouldn't have wanted one!

Mrshelsbels a very warm welcome to the thread.

Good luck to everyone else having scans this week; hope you all have as good an experience as we were lucky enough to have today.

flipflopper · 23/04/2012 14:35

Mrshelsbels welcome!
dunnitt I am on dc 3, and I still doubted myself when I felt early movements! It does feel like your digestion or your tummy rumbling , then as it gets stronger, it just feels like something gently shifting inside. I can feel mine quite often now, and dh has felt it once when it was having a good wriggle around the other night!
ladygagoo congratulations on the scan, its so exciting isnt it- I cant wait for my scan tomorrow!

elliemay80 · 23/04/2012 16:00

congratulations on the recent scans.

has anyone else forgotten about the size of their bump? i accidentally knocked mine on a door frame earlier while passing someone in the corridor at work! i'm sure all is fine as there is no pain and i have a feeling the sonographer was quite rough with my bump during the scan but it did bring it home just how fast my bump is progressing! dh keeps getting surprised when seeing my belly too!

i think i am feeling movement but not regular as yet (20+6)

Dunnit those early movements do feel like digestion from what i recall, although i felt them at about 15 weeks then nothing til last week when the feeling was more pronounced and 'swooshing'.

shoeprincess2 · 23/04/2012 17:33

Newbie coming through! Hi ladies. Have just found this thread- am due on 12 September (which is incidentally the birthday of my DS- he will be 2). Had a stressful time after the 12 week scan, as a higher than normal NT (4.1mm) was identified. Had an amnio at 15.5 weeks and all results have come back fine. Have my 20 week scan on Wednesday, which I am really nervous about, as the higher NT can indicate a heart problem. Fingers crossed... Oh, and we know it is another boy. The upside of the amnio test. Good luck ladies with your little beans. I look forward to continuing our journey on this thread :)

Macaroons · 23/04/2012 17:49

Welcome to more newbies, mrshelsbels and shoeprincess

Glad to hear the scans and amino tests have gone well, must have been worrying at the time.

Who's having a scan this week? Mines on Thursday. Can't wait! Fingers crossed everything is fine.

Re movements, I've been feeling lots of little movements, it's like someone tickling you / poking you very gently from inside. Havent felt proper kicks yet.

Anyone else feeling pains at the ribs? Mines quite bad at times but nothing I can do about it ...

TinkerMaloo · 23/04/2012 19:32

Hello everyone and welcome to the new people! :)

a quick update!

I am feeling huge today! Literally like I am about to burst... I was laughing earlier and my tummy buttonwas popping in and out and feeling like a cork in a botle about to blow. I dont remember feeling this full up and huge this early on before! (3rd on the way).

I also seem to have developed an intense desire for dairylea dunkers....

Oh and I just bought this :) www.seraphine.com/review/product/list/id/382/category/128/

Hope all are well

Hugs Xx

funchum8am · 23/04/2012 21:22

:) at the link tinker!

I am a bit down as don't feel like my bump is growing. Lots of colleagues at a weekend thing we went to on Friday were saying I still looked really slim etc (haha when I'm actually a size 16 when not pg! so I presume they just mean not showing yet!) but DH says that he can see me growing every day. So I am probably just being a bit paranoid. Also I haven't felt more than the odd flutter yet but that is normal as I'm only 18+4 so shouldn't really worry about that either. I just want to feel more pregnant!

On the upside my boobs are huge and I need the loo all the time and am pretty tired so presumably something is going on in there! Scan is 10 days away and I cannot wait. I'm so happy hearing all of your lovely news and especially those of you who have had to go for amnio - really really glad it's all clear on those for you. FX for healthy 20 week scans as well, for one and all.

leelteloo · 23/04/2012 21:34

Bit worried I've just given my self and dh food poisoning Confused!
Turned left over roast chicken into a yummy curry but have dodgy tummy now. Can food poisoning be bad for the bump?

pgreen · 23/04/2012 21:47

had an appointment with obstetrician today. Seems that I'm almost certainly going to have a CS because of my crohn's... I'm a little bit disappointed but whatever is best for my baby. I'm also going to be having scans at wk 28, 32, 34 and 36. I hope my baby still ends up being born in september.
....bit bummed out really and cant put my finger on it. I had thought at one stage that my crohns might have stopped me having kids altogether, so really pleased that isn't the case. just need to pull myself together.

ballroomblitz · 23/04/2012 23:21

Hello shoeprincess . Glad your amnio came back ok. Looks like the team blue is beginning to even out with the girls now.

Dunnit I have never felt what could be described as butterflies. Ds was like a flicking from the inside (anterior placenta). This time it started as a swooshy feeling. I wasn't actually feeling the baby insomuch as the vibrations of slight movements on my insides. So yeah digestive problems could describe it.

Definately looking pregnant now and this was proved when a car load of young fellas went past me the other night and one shouted 'whale' at me Angry Charming youth of today!!

I'm sure it won't be food poisoning leelteloo Did you keep the chicken in the fridge and cook it through again? I know there's a lot of d&v bugs going around atm. Hope you're feeling a bit better by tomorrow.

pgreen It is a little disappointing when a birth option is taken away from you and you feel like you have no choice. I felt that way when I had to have a cs with ds. I have nothing against cs but wanted it to be my choice.

Good luck everyone with scans this week!!

leelteloo · 24/04/2012 07:48

Thanks Ballroomblitz, you were right, not food poisoning, phew. Maybe I'm just getting more sensitive to spicy food.

Thali34 · 24/04/2012 10:02

gingertessa I'm glad to find a scan buddy for tomorrow! :)
Love the top, tinker!!

I'm constantly worried about food poisoning too leelteloo, and have been doing a bit of gardening lately and then panicking about toxoplasmosis! I suppose its natural to be more anxious but I think the environment is less dangerous and toxic than we give it credit for...

Been wondering how many of us out there have started getting prepared for the baby's arrival? I haven't got anything at all yet, and haven't really started thinking about it, except in a very general way. Must start looking and researching soon. Want to make a list of essentials and not clutter up the house too much too soon. We have been offered heaps of stuff from friends, so its a case of prioritising I suppose!

flipflopper · 24/04/2012 11:02

Had my scan this morning!
It was wonderful, everything fine!
We asked if she could tell the sex, but it's bum was hidden by my bladder, so it was hard to tell, but she did try to see, and said she couldnt see any boy bits! So looks like our guess was right!

Def considering going for a 3d scan a bit later on now!

Have my mw appt later today.
Good luck to anyone else who has a scan today! x
