Hoping to carry on the brilliant thread started by misscoffeenwine which was so popular we got to 1000 posts before starting another - come over and join me...... Promise to think of a more original name for Part 3!

OP posts:

Thank you so much for your support everyone - its very much appreciated.

Thanks also to prunia for sharing your experience and making me feel slightly more positive.

Been having a look on the miscarriage thread too so thanks for that recommendation - it seems that many people do have positive outcomes after mc so fingers crossed.

Thali34 · 06/03/2012 14:23

rightontime - it was a dentist that also caused my problem! And left me with a phobia! But I have moved now and found one I trust. Hope yours is OK - we have quite enough to worry about without the extra stress of toothache!

Bakeroo I'm also hoping to hear the heartbeat at next MW appt! I think we will be able to - will probably ask anyway! I'll be 14 weeks on Thursday, and feeling much more myself and starting to remember what its like to feel well!

lurkingmurking · 06/03/2012 15:17

LittleSpade I'm so so sorry that must have been a horrid shock.

ladygagoo I bet your Dad was pleased wherever he is.

Madmonkeys you're my Friday scan buddy - what time is yours? I'm at 2.30. I've had one scan at 9 weeks but I am still terrified!

I told my boss today and the next senior person in the office - she had guessed and he was completely oblivious (he said 'I thought you looked well' Grin) - am pleased that's out of the way though!

Smallgreenone · 06/03/2012 16:29

Hi September ladies, I've been lurking around here for a few weeks but haven't had the courage to post. I just wanted to say Littlespade that I feel so sorry for you. The same thing happened to me in October and it's the cruellest most horrible thing. I opted for a natural miscarriage and I never would again, the waiting is awful and mine ended up just as I was on a cheering up weekend with my girlfriends- typical!
The good news is though there's a very low chance of it happening again. I'm pregnant again now and fingers crossed all will be fine this time. My scan is tomorrow so I'm hoping for good news.
Take care of yourself.
Good luck to all the other ladies on here too and hopefully we'll all have healthy happy babies in 6 months time.
Xxxx

MadMonkeys · 06/03/2012 16:29

Mine's at 1.40 Lurking. No early scans for me so this will be the first time to see what's in there. I can't believe nobody's guessed yet, or perhaps they are all being discrete and just haven't mentioned it. I was at a friends yesterday and I couldn't help going to the loo every half hour or so. I did have a cup of proper tea though, to throw her off the scent!

rightontime · 06/03/2012 16:30

I wonder whether home dopplers are more successful because MW are always in a hurry and running late and never given enough time to do anything so they don't spend as long trying to find HB as a mama at home taking her time? Just a thought.

I have been considering getting one. I had been feeling the odd flutter and pressure but that seems to have stopped now. I know it is far too early to feel movement but just concerned that whatever was going on has stopped. I'm probably worrying about nothing.

oikopolis · 06/03/2012 16:56

LittleSpade, i'm very sorry. What a horrible shock. Sad

i'm doing ok at 11ish weeks. Nuchal fold scan is booked for two weeks' time... shitting myself a bit. not really about Down's etc., am just afraid that something has gone wrong (mmc or similar). sigh.

had a reassurance scan after a bleed at 8weeks and all was v well, but so much can go wrong in a month, can't it.

oh, and at 8 weeks i went from huge appetite to yucky nausea. never been so off my feed, eurgh. also still falling asleep on the sofa at 8-9pm, without fail...

mrsd1980 · 06/03/2012 17:45

So glad I found this thread again, was wondering what had happened!

Oh littlespade I'm so sorry, it must have been heartbreaking :(

My scan is a week today and I'm hoping and praying all will be okay. Still having strong symptoms, and sure I can feel slight movements sometimes, although maybe too early? I'm 11+3 and second PG so may be poss? I don't know... Anyone else?

Is anyone else REALLY struggling still with tiredness? I have good days and bad, but it's just so hard with a really active 11mo. It's not fair on him to be cooped up indoors all day but I can't find the energy to take him out some days, and trying to find enough places to take him that he can play indoors is a struggle too.

cjbk1 · 06/03/2012 19:09

hello can I join pls? iv just had my 12wk scan today and just told my other two excitement all round.hugs to all of you who've had a sad outcome already iv been there. so what are we chatting about? Smile

oikopolis · 06/03/2012 21:44

mrsd i am fecking useless due to tiredness. it's not too bad during the earlier part of the day but from about 3:30 it's REALLY hard to keep going sometimes.

sounds like you might need to enlist some help!!

ballroomblitz · 06/03/2012 21:45

Hi cjbk1 and Smallgreenone - good luck for your scan tomorrow.

oikopolis I'm not loving my food either the past couple of weeks. Everything just looks/smells so unappetising or nauseating. Very, very unlike me as I normally love my grub.

mrsd I'm 11+5 and I have been totally wrecked for weeks. I have actually been going for a nap most days that I can after lunch Blush. Thankfully my 4yo likes snuggling down for a wee kip with me too during the weekdays as he's up early in the morning for nursery. I still have a journal that I kept when I was pregnant with him and it's what I complained about the most the first trimester is how shattered and drained I felt constantly. Hopefully we will find a new lease of life and energy in a couple of weeks.

oikopolis · 06/03/2012 22:40

ballroom that's EXACTLY how i feel, everything is soooo unappetising. i also love(d) my grub. was just thinking last week, "gosh i miss looking forward to dinner!"

going to the shops for groceries is appalling, i have to take DH with otherwise i just come back with nothing but some ready-made jelly and a bottle of bloody ginger ale!

Loopyhasanotherbean · 07/03/2012 09:32

I'm 13 weeks +1 day now. BMI is higher than the medical world would like, but only 2.5 over where they'd be happy. Just wondering, how much weight if any, have you all put on? with DS i'd definitely put on weight by now although in the whole pregnancy i didn't put on a crazy amount which they were happy about as dropped to pre pregnancy weight within a couple of weeks of the birth, but i didn't lose anything more than that.... but this time i've been eating a lot better, as it was suggested that if i didn't put on as much as last time, i would end up weighing less/lower BMI after this birth, which they think will actually lower the risks during the birth. (i'm high risk due to BMI, prev cat 1 EMCS under GA, and major PPH). Currently i have actually dropped a few pounds from the weight i was when i fell pregnant, so rather than putting on, i've lost. Just wondering where everyone else was at? It would be really helpful to be able to keep track as our pregnancies continue, so that i know how i am doing relative to others (especially as one of my midwives is an utter bitch who made me burst into tears on more than one occasion when i was pregnant with DS as i might be more thick-skinned if i know i'm doing ok based on you guys!)

Rusulka · 07/03/2012 09:45

Sorry to hear your news LittleSpade. We're supposed to still be mega-fertile afterwards (aren't we?) so hopefully you'll be back on the horse soon. Take care of yourself. X

Oik and Ballroom I don't really want to eat anything either. I'm ok buying stuff, I just don't realise I can't eat it til I put it in my mouth half the time. Very annoying!

Loopy I'm tracking my weight like a hawk! Usually I put on 4lb for AF, which I had when I got my positive test ( I assume I put on a full buffet in there with console games, etc). When I found out, I weighed 15st 13lb. The previous week I weighed 15st 9lb, so I'm going to take that as my pre-pregnancy weight.
It's taken me til now to get back to that, (or I was on Saturday).
I find that I'm not eating too much, so if I go and try to get out and exercise, I'm more likely to lose weight- my parents came last weeks so we had a couple of good long walks with the dog, and I lost 2lb. If it wasn't for DH's dog phobia, I'd borrow him for the next 4 months!

If it wasn't so hideous outside at the mo, I'd be out gardening, or walking into town for food shopping or something. But I just want to stay in! Will have to be really good on food, and exercise where I can. (ignores wii fit and bellydancing dvd in corner)

Rusulka · 07/03/2012 09:46

Loopy forgot to mention, I'm 14+3 today and my BMI is currently 38.79.

Whatevertheweather · 07/03/2012 09:49

Loup I also have a high bmi but not much has been said about it. I was weighed last week at 13 week scan at was 4lb less than this time last year at scan with dd2 only made 1 point difference to bmi. I was literally weighed just the once in last pregnancy but I think I put on around 1.5 stone up to 35 weeks when dd2 was born. I did ask the consultant when we had a meeting with her after dd2 died to discuss what would happen if I wanted to try again whether I ought to lose weight first and she said no my weight is not a barrier to a healthy pregnancy. In her experience it needs to be a bmi of 50 plus before it makes any difference to the pregnancy and even then it is possible to have a perfectly healthy pregnancy. Hope you don't get too much grief. It seems to differ so much area to area.

Whatevertheweather · 07/03/2012 09:51

Not Loup to Loopy!

Loopyhasanotherbean · 07/03/2012 10:30

lol resulka i have a wii fit, it's hidden in a sideboard and dread to think what insult it would throw at me if i stepped on it now, it's been so long! (that would of course involve putting fresh batteries in it!!)

my bmi is definitely no where near 50 (its 32.5 as i am just too short for my 12st 7-9lb weight - i seem to be fluctuating between the two, but both are slightly less than the weight i started at with DS and slightly less than the weight i was when fell pregnant this time.)

i guess with me having the 3 risk factors, as far as i know there is nothing i can do to reduce the chances of a PPH, and the only thing to stop me risking another EMCS is to book for an ELCS, but if i can limit what i weigh then that could help with the BMI issues. And if i end up weighing a lot less after this birth than before, it would bode well for future pregnancies...i am quite good now at staying at a certain weight - managed to not put on at all during breastfeeding whilst plenty of people around me did as they thought they could live on cake as the breastfeeding would cancel out the cake! So if i can end up lighter after this birth, chances are i could maintain that weight until next pregnancy (ideally we'd like another 2 after this one, as long as it's not deemed too risky!)

Whatevertheweather · 07/03/2012 10:39

Nearly the same as mine Loopy 33 this time. Was 34 with dd2 and 35 with dd1. It does mean any correspondence about your scans will say something along the lines of Ultrasound View: Restricted by raised BMI. I asked last time if the sonographer was struggling to see anything clearly and she said no the computer automatically prints that if the bmi is over 30. One scan last time the sonographer actually wrote in the notes. Extremely clear scan images obtained even though at the top was restricted view!!

Just had my Down's risk result after the nuchal measurement, bloods and age it's come out a low risk 1:1410. Phew! Still seems to be higher than lots of others results I saw on the last thread?

york67 · 07/03/2012 10:39

So sorry littlespade. I had a mmc discovered at about 12 weeks. Stopped growing at 10. It wasn't a complete shock as i was vlleding quite badly. Pain started about 4 days after bleeding. At that point i went to hospital and they offered me various choices. Natural, tablets or ERPC. I opted for ERPC. Physically it was fine and at least it was over quickly.
2nd super fertile bit after. DD took 2 years to conceive but conceived almost immediately after mmc. Don't know if there is a reason for this.
I too am having issues with BMI. Am prob a similar BMI to you Rus. Midwife made me feel terrible after booking. I am mega high risk due to BMI and 2 previous csections. 1 crash and 1 failure to progress. Plus age. The leaflet midwife gave me was unhelpful in the extreme. It's just a little late after conceiving to tell you that you are at a high risk of ...... because of your weight. Incidently with my last pregnancy i weighe less after delivery than I did at the start. At least partly caused by sickness/chest infection at end. So far my weight has remained the same. Advised that I should gain no more than a stone but probably less.
I have my scan 15th March. Anyone else with that date? Still feeling really anxious despite early scan with a hb. As some else said alot can happen in a few weeks.

york67 · 07/03/2012 10:40

Really should check for typos before posting!

Whatevertheweather · 07/03/2012 10:55

Just had a quick look at old thread lots of NT results seem to be in the tens of thousands 1:51,000 1:100,000 etc - was that the combined test with bloods or just based on nuchal measurement? Mine was combined test. Nuchal measurement was 1.4mm Beta hcg 42.34 iu/i equivalent to 1.8 MoM and Papp-A 1.376 iu/i equivalent to 0.652 MoM. I will be 31 at term.

gingertessa · 07/03/2012 11:38

Hello all, I've been lurking lots on this thread and have posted once before a while ago. I'm now 13+4 and had my scan last week, which was amazing. I also came back low risk for Downs 1 in 9750 (from nuchal translucency and serum screening - I'm 31 years old), phew. So sorry LittleSpade and all the other ladies who've had bad outcomes :(

Regarding weight, this is something that concerns me. I was already at my heaviest before I got pregnant with a BMI of 33 and I really hoped to eat sensibly and carry on exercising. Hmmm my little Pip had other ideas, making me absolutely ravenous - it was like having a tapeworm! Consequently I've put on about 10lb already. Luckily I didn't get a lecture from my GP or MW. Now the nausea and excessive hunger is finally on the wain I need to make more of an effort not to pile loads of weight on, as I know it will be really hard work to shift it after the baby is born.

The MW had to class me as high risk because of a heart murmur which was found 8 years ago, although I never had to have any treatment for it. I'm seeing an obstetrician next week, and I'm hoping that I'll be put back in the low risk category as I've never considered that I have a "cardiac problem". I suppose the midwives have protocols they must follow and better to be safe than sorry.

rightontime · 07/03/2012 12:34

Whatever I had the combined test and had the result of 1 in 51,000. I am 25, will be 26 at term. Weight was 75.2kg. Not sure what BMI is but probably around 30. It was 29 at booking and I weighed 74kg. (loopy I am nearer 76/77kg now and pre pregnancy was about 71kg if that helps) nuchal measurement was 1.7mm. I didn't get the hormone levels told to me.

It is calculated using age and weight as well as the nuchal measurement and blood test. I wouldn't worry about it too much. My last result was 1 in 350 and although we lost the baby it did not have any chromosomal defects.

Smallgreenone · 07/03/2012 12:48

Hi ladies, just a quick post to say my scan went well. I'm thrilled to say the least! Baby measuring 12+2 and a nuchal measurement of 1.4 so I hope that means I'll come out low risk. Ive told a few close friends already but can't wait to tell more!!! Xxxx
