Hoping to carry on the brilliant thread started by misscoffeenwine which was so popular we got to 1000 posts before starting another - come over and join me...... Promise to think of a more original name for Part 3!

Loup23 · 02/04/2012 16:28

Hi all, just back from holidays and catching up with the thread - sorry to hear of the dry skin problems, I haven't had that but littlecherub am completely with you re blemishes - I feel quite unattractive with my spotty chest and back......

I am also in the "in between" stage - 18+2 and feeling unpregnant but defnitely have signs of a bump and I think I felt movement last week...anyone else? This is my first so I am guessing it might be too early but we were skiing so maybe the mountain pressure meant I could feel it or I am kidding myself . Have my "20 week" scan this Thursday, will only be 18+5 and already mentalling that this will be the last scan....

Hope everyone else is well, anyone else having the 20 week this week?

Smallgreenone · 02/04/2012 16:37

I thought the same as you littlecherub until a lady at work came out and asked me if I was pregnant! Thought I was doing such a good job of hiding it!
Personally I think if you didn't know me you'd just think I was a bit thick around the middle.
This is my first baby and I think I'm going overboard with the nursery etc. I'm definitely having one and have the room designated already. I've even picked curtains! Hope you all don't think I'm silly but I am just so excited and have always dreamed of a lovely nursery for my little ones.
Keeping my fingers crossed for all those having hard weeks.

Xxx

MissCoffeeNWine · 02/04/2012 16:48

Don't think you're silly at all smallgreenone but lack of hope, funds, space, and the fact that babies generally stay in our room for the first year or so make a nursery a very low priority for us, or at least something to be thought about in 18 months or sos time. I haven't the space to set things up before we need them, didn't buy DD's until she was past 6 months old. We'll all muddle along somehow but doesn't mean I don't understand your nursery ideal. The only place a baby could go here would be the office and I need my office! It will get its own room later in life when it can choose its own stuff like DD did and that's just as magical in its own way!

MissCoffeeNWine · 02/04/2012 16:49

that was supposed to be DD's cot. Blush

Bakeroo · 02/04/2012 17:25

I am more used to my strange 'wee' feelings now and actually think they're probably something 'pregnancy related' rather than an infection so feeling better about that. I still took my urine sample to the doctor this morning so it can be sent to the hospital...better to be safe and check.
I too have a slight rash on my tummy Thali34 it started a few weeks ago and I'd forgotten about it but it's still there. It's more faint and kind of under the skin so not raised or itchy or anything but I can still see it. I've also had some small spots in my clevage/on my chest for quite a few weeks, although they're not bad, still not nice. The worst thing I've noticed (and didn't really want to say as it's a bit embarrassing Blush ) is my bump has got more downy hair on it....it's a little bit hairy! I thought I'd just not noticed it before but it's definitely got hairer! It's quite fair and not too long but I hope it stops now...I wouldn't know what to do if it got longer. I confided in a recently pregnant friend and she had the same thing, she said not to touch it as it disappeared once she'd had the babies (twins) but eek! Anyone else?!

Macaroons · 02/04/2012 17:53

Looks like there are quite a few of us having scans between 23-27/4! We can be scan buddies! I'm starting to get nervous about the next scan, hope everything will turn out fine. There was some slight scare last week and based on blood test result they thought I am a thalassemia carrier, and if my hubby is also a carrier the baby would have some chance of having anaemia. Needless to say that got me worried and asked my hubby to go and have a blood test! Luckily the next day I got a phone call saying they mixed up blood test result (as there's someone with the same name as me at the same hospital!) phew!!!

Person opposite me on the train is having a Cornish pastry that smells really nice. Making me really hungry...Envy

flipflopper · 02/04/2012 18:43

Hi all, not been on here for a while, as been so busy and just back from a lovely weekend staying with a friend.
I had my 16 week check with the m/w on friday, and all was well, she managed to hear the heartbeat, although it took a while to find it, so was a bit nervewracking for me, but she did warn me it may take a while! dd and ds came with me so it was lovely for them to hear it too!

I am feeling a lot more relaxed about things now, as I was so worried something would go wrong, but it just feels more real now, and I think I am starting to feel baby move a bit.

I have my 20 week scan on the 24th, im really looking forward to it, and we are going to find out the sex this time!

I am definitley getting more of a bump now, although sometimes it is bigger than others! Depends how much i've been eating!

Has anyone had any experience of gestational diabetes? My mum has type one diabetes, so i will be having the GTT at 26 weeks, but for the past few weeks ive been really thirsty/ dry mouth, and sat night, I felt really sick and dizzy all of a sudden, and had to eat something, then I started to feel better.
I know these could be normal pregnancy symptoms of course, maybe im over thinking things.

Good luck everyone for appts and scans this week! xxx

ballroomblitz · 02/04/2012 21:09

Grin Bakeroo I think it's normal to have a bit of downy fair hair there. I do too, noticed it the other day in the bath. My cousin is a beauty therapist and would tell you the same thing and leave it alone. It will go away.

18 weeks sounds about normal to feel movements for the first to me Loup

Sounds lovely everyone who is planning to decorate nurseries. Unfortunately I would have to find a bigger place before I do that as I currently live in an apartment. Have been house hunting for the last month but not much joy as yet.

Good luck for your appt tomorrow Misscoffee

twizzlestix · 03/04/2012 06:57

I think I ve felt movement loup and I'm 18 + 2 as well. So not crazy, unless I am too :) I only feel when lying down so first thing in am and just before sleep. They're very in distinct and difficult to describe. When it first happened I was half asleep and my brain said 'dont worry about that it's just the baby moving' before I could register it properly! No regular movement though and I don't feel every day yet.

Anyone else have their 20 week scan in week beginning 16th? Will I be the first?

twizzlestix · 03/04/2012 07:00

Oh, baba will sleep in our room initially but we're going to decorate spare room after scan in preparation. Our little one will need to share with office though as only have one spare room! Good job the room is quite spacious. Will chose design etc after 20 week scan, am trying not to look at baby stuff until then!

TinkerMaloo · 03/04/2012 07:55

Hey everyone :)

I read this everyday and it keeps me sane to hear everything you are all going through and feeling.

Just thought I'd officially pop in today!

Everything seems to be going to plan for me, MW found the heartbeat at my 16 week check, which is so reassuring! I'm feeling definite regular movements now (am 17 weeks with my 3rd) and I feel just about human these days too! Slight worry about my pelvic floor, but I think lots more exercise is the answer to that one!

twizzle I have my scan on the 18th and I cant wait

No nursery prep here for us either, the baby will be sharing a room eventually with his/her big sister and its already kind of nusery-ish. It was already freshly painted before we found out we were having my second so we just put a nice new carpet in and bought some lovely animal stickers which I stuck on the doors. It was a cheap and easy way to make it baby friendly but with very little cost or effort.

I keep my babies in with me til they are over 6 months too, we co-sleep, its the only way to breastfeed all night and still be able to function the next day :). Though in the past I have been in the spare room with baby so that DH can get some sleep and therefore not get fired from work, howver this time we dont have a spare room as that is DD's room... We are thinking about getting a co-sleeper cot or else DH is going to be sleeping downstairs, he would be woken up by a grasshopper farting 6 miles away so there is no way he will sleep with a newborn in the bed with us.

Take care all!

Ju1es22 · 03/04/2012 09:57

Waves to everyone....hope your all well

Had my first consultant appointment last week and got to hear beanies hb was normal (I asked how fast it was and she smiled knowingly at me!)

Got regular mw appts see her again next Monday when I'll be nearly 19 weeks pregnant, otherwise they're happy with me, unless i have further problems the consultant doesn't want to see me again untill 28 weeks on wards for growth scans due to having a low bmi:-)

Got my 20 week scan 18th can't believe how fast its going! I know this ll seem mad but im feeling definate movement shifts and nudges my hubbies even felt them from the outside in last day or so, i'm 18 weeks on wednesday/Thursday, just seems so early!

Weve booked a private 4d scan for the end of may when I'll be 25/26 weeks pregnant when well be finding if its pink or blue, seems so long away!

My bump seems to change daily too some days I look huge, other days like today I just look a really bloated, I want a proper all day bump!

Have a great day everyone x

Rusulka · 03/04/2012 10:45

Twizzle just got my 20 week scan through (finally!) and it's the 17th. I'll be 20+2 according to me, 21+2 according to them.

So relieved to have got the scan through.
Really jealous of all of you feeling stuff, have had some vague- well, can only really describe them as gibberings- I assume it's Peanut, but I guess unless they get stronger and turn out to be it, I've probably made it up. Grin

I still fit in all my normal clothes, so am getting a little worried that something is wrong and Peanut isn't growing as they should- I already had quite a podge before getting the BFP though, so now I guess my usual podge IS a baby bump, it's just I look no different than before, and still fit in my skirts. Boo. I want a proper bump too!
You can only see it when I lie down (as that's when my fat belly dribbles down the sides and I can pretend I'm skinny really)- now it sticks up in a hard little mound. Hurray! And my knicker crease has gone. I always said I'd feel a bit better about things once my knicker crease had gone. Grin

Would love to have a 4D scan but just can't afford it.

Baby will be in with us for 6 months at least, then the cot will move into bedroom 3, then once we (hopefully) have baby 2, depending on timing, cot will come back in our room for them and baby 1 can go into a proper bed.
Bedroom 3 is full of stuff already, although one of those things includes a bookcase stuffed with picture and childrens books- I went mad when I met DH as I knew he was 'the one', lol. At least they'll have plenty of books, and we can put away the majority of them as presents for later. Cunning plan! Grin

Bakeroo · 03/04/2012 11:51

twizzlestix my 20 week scan is the same week as you...it's on the 17th! Rusulka it's the same day as you - buddy!
My baby will have to share our room too...I think I'd want it to for the first 6 months anyway but we only have a 1 bedroom flat so no choice. We'll hopefully move when the baby is about that age. I have heard lots about co sleeping and my friend has just had a really good experience with her twins. She also said it's the only way to get some sleep when you're breast feeding so much in the early days and even with twins she's never once said 'I'm knackered'! which is pretty amazing. Also, the twins are 3 months now and one is already sleeping through the night in his cot so it's all worked well. Ideally I wouldn't have the baby in the bed but if it means we sleep then it'll be in the bed! Not for long though...:)

lurkingmurking · 03/04/2012 13:55

Smallgreen I totally get you on the nursery stuff! When we had DS we were in a one bed flat for the first 6 months of his life and I hated not being able to plan a nursery. He slept in our room with us for 4 months and then we moved him into the hallway Grin! When we moved into our current house I spent hours and hours planning his room and it is gorgeous!

I wish we had a third bedroom that I could plan now for this baby but they will be in with us for a few months and then share with DS (I will probably redecorate when they start sharing though Grin)!

Smallgreenone · 03/04/2012 14:43

Hee hee I'm glad you don't think I'm crackers!!! We moved house a couple of years ago and have space and we've been trying to fill them since we moved in so finally (fingers crossed) we will have a proper use for one of them! If I hadn't become pregnant we were going to have to get another dog and let them have a bedroom each hee hee!!!

pgreen · 03/04/2012 14:47

My scan is 20th and can not wait!!!!! Like many I'm still fitting in my regular clothes, I just look "thick" through the waist. A bit of a low down rounding but nothing resembling a bump. Although boobs are more than making up for that. Feel a bit of a fraud at pregnancy yoga.

On the downy hair, I have tonnes of the stuff. Tummy starting to look like albino ape - I'll definitely be donning a swimsuit for our trip and maybe a kaftan too!

Having kicked off the nursery chat I thought some of you might like some inspiration (even if they are sharing a room with you or older siblings). I have a pinterest board just for Children's Rooms - some are really fancy and others can be achieved with just some paint and elbow grease (and maybe a trip to IKEA!) pinterest.com/MiddletonDesign/children-s-rooms/

elliemay80 · 03/04/2012 16:47

My 20 week scan is on 14th April when I'll be 19+4. Can't wait. Despite a perfectly normal 16 week check last week in which I heard the heartbeat, I have been in paranoia mode! Bump is definitely there but I'm convinced it hasn't grown in the last few weeks. Also haven't felt movement yet and am 18 weeks today. Friends who recently gave birth to DCs 1 all say they didn't feel anything until 20/ 21 weeks though so I should be reassured (you would think!)

Have hip pains which I'm optimistically putting down to stretching and still getting up 3+ times a night to pee so I guess all is well...

Mat leave starts in three months at 32 weeks. Am counting down too Whatever!

elliemay80 · 03/04/2012 16:48

Oops Whatever's thread about mat leave was way back on page 1. Sorry! Must keep up!!

MadMonkeys · 03/04/2012 17:59

Bakeroo - I missread your post and thought you had 3 month old twins and are 3 months preg again!

Had my 16 week appt this afternoon and heard a good strong heartbeat - very reassuring. My mw is so nice, she doesn' rush through the appt and seems to know what she's doing.

I'm not decorating or anything for this LO. I didn't for DD and I'm glad about that as she quite likes peeling the wallpaper off at night before going to sleep... We'll do her room when she's old enough to choose the paper/bedding etc and not destroy it! When she was a baby there was a massive poo inceident which pretty much covered the whole carpet in her room. Sorry to be a killjoy but we were very glad we hadn't got a new one for her.

I'm still thinking about you methe, hope you are ok.

Macaroons · 03/04/2012 18:56

Something exciting to report from my end: I can feel the baby move! Im abit skeptical initially (as its my first pregnancy) but it's happened a few times today, and it's at the right position, and its some bubbly tingly feeling, so I think this is the baby moving! Grin

When are you all thinking of starting to take mat leave? At first I thought 36 weeks but now I wonder if I want to delay till 38 so I can spend more time with the baby after the baby's born. But then that will be round about the Olympics period and I I've in London so don't know how bad public transport is going to be...

twizzlestix · 03/04/2012 21:10

Ooh lots of exciting scans coming up then! Mine's on the 16th And am desperately excited to see baba again! Feels like such a long time since the last one!

We've been discussing name possibilities recently. DH not particularly helpful as his suggestions are often for comedy value!

oikopolis · 03/04/2012 21:52

oooooo I have an OB appt on 16 April, and she has a little portable scan unit that she'll use! yay! low-res/2D and all that, but still :)

and then the proper, measuring-everything scan is in early May. i think that's when we'll learn the sex, doubt the OB is any good at that sort of thing! will just get a peep on the 16th!

funchum8am · 03/04/2012 21:54

Hi everyone, exciting times with all these scans coming up. Mine isn't til 3rd May which is bang on 20 weeks so hopefully will have lots of reassuring stories from you ladies before I get round to it.

I am going on a hen do next weekend and will be telling my friends from university days about the pregnancy which is great, they are my closest friends but scattered around the country so I haven't seen any of them for ages. I've actually been avoiding them as the moment I didn't drink when given the chance they'd know I was pg, which I wasn't ready for after past disappointments. Anyway I'll be 17 weeks and hopefully showing properly, or at least if you're looking for a bump it will show, so will be lovely to tell them all. I will feel properly pregnant then when friends refer to it!

Also had a friend very cautiously send me a message online announcing her second child is due, which she did that way as she knows we have had MCs in the past, as has she. We haven't told her and her DH (a school friend of my DH) yet about ours as haven't seen them and didn't want to put it on Facebook etc in case anyone else is quietly going through MC or infertility issues, and cannot wait to see them and let them know that we are about 2 weeks apart in due dates. Just waiting til I've told the closer friends on the hen do first. I'm so excited though!

Haven't got the downy hair but am dousing myself in oil - I thought I had a massive new stretch mark on my boob the other night but it has vanished so I'm hoping it was just a scratch or random mark! The sight of it reminded me of how horrible stretch marks are though so I am being strict with the oil now.

MakeTeaNotWar · 03/04/2012 21:57

I'm still only a piddly 15 weeks so 20 week scan is waaaaaaay off on May 10 - which is DH's 40th bday yay! Another one for no nursery here - DD slept with us for 7 months and then moved into our second bedroom which remained mainly as our guest bedroom with a cot stuck in it! This bubs will follow suit and move in with DD.

DD currently has weird nasty raised rash which has docs stumped, some kind of shingles type virus so I have to get a blood test to make sure I don't have it...eek!

Any news from methe? Hope everything is ok
