Hoping to carry on the brilliant thread started by misscoffeenwine which was so popular we got to 1000 posts before starting another - come over and join me...... Promise to think of a more original name for Part 3!

Deffo funny post-wee goings on here too bakeroo and rusulka. Just noticed it this week and several times have 'ouched' out loud as it feels like something heavy is landing on my bladder when it's emptied. Doesn't feel like an infection and haven't had any other pains. Confused could it be the uterus squishing back down on empty bladder?

bump4 · 30/03/2012 23:17

Thank Iph- had scan on Tuesday, fluid slightly down but still within normal :) but do feel like I have been leaking so who knows!

Saw one of the consultants 'helpers' who tried to tell me that because I hadn't had a big gush (sorry tmi) with any of my waters that I hadn't probably ppromed before Hmm and that a speculum was inconclusive evidence of rupturing- when I explained that I had had approx 40 scans with the 3 of them which showed little to no fluid and had been seen previously by 2 different consultants she was a little quiet :)

Grr can be so frustrating, but at least for now all is ticking on ok.

I have been off work since 3 days before BFP because I ruptured my Achilles so perhaps being at home and not being able to do a vast amount is helping things.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok, I don't post very often but I read this thread every day- it feels like a little family!

funchum8am · 31/03/2012 11:31

Hi ladies, glad to hear everyone is by and large going well. Weeing issues don't sound great, I will look out for that!

I have my 16 week appt on Weds but with the GP as the midwife clinic couldn't fit me in til I would be 19 weeks. Does anyone have any advice on what would normally happen at this appt in case the GP doesn't do them very often and misses a step? Hopefully she won't but I get the impression that it never hurts to know what you should be getting!

MadMonkeys · 31/03/2012 12:44

funchum in my experience the 16 week check is just the same as any other antenatal mw appointment - they'll take your blood pressure, have a look at your blood and scan results if they are available and they might use a doppler to listen for a fetal heartbeat. It will all be over in ten minutes or so, so have any questions you want to ask ready. My 16 week appointment is on tuesday. It will be reassuring if the mw can find a heartbeat as the dating scan seems like ages ago.

Anyone else still really tired? I'm pooped. In fact DD has just gone down for a nap so I think I might have one too.

NightmareWalking · 31/03/2012 16:57

I'm shattered MadMonkeys (currently 15 +3), last night was asleep on the sofa at 10, went to bed at midnight then slept till 9.30 this morning, bliss!

cjbk1 · 31/03/2012 17:51

Iv not had the best day Sad dd and ds really really hard work dh snapping constant housework to do can't find tickets we need for tomorrow had a cup of de-caf coffee which made my near-daily headache return just exhausted (16wks)

leelteloo · 31/03/2012 17:54

The all consuming tiredness has passed for thank goodness as have to get up a 5.30 every morning with dd but the awful headaches have returned with a vengeance: always just above my left eye, normal and will pass I'm told.
Think I need to get working on my pelvic floor, had to cough this morning and Blush!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

moogs1000 · 31/03/2012 21:11

Has anyone else got a peeling tummy? Mine has started too and moisturising more than ever! It's horrible! It happened last time but thought I'd had a reaction to cream but now I'm not sure. X

oikopolis · 31/03/2012 22:04

moogs the backs of my thighs started peeling crazily yesterday, i think it's normal. we're meant to be growing more hair due to hormones, and i'm sure that also means our skin starts resurfacing itself at the same time Wink

cjbk1 · 01/04/2012 09:11

moogs if your skin is peeling and a bit moist/wet them it could be infected eczema (which may or may not have been brought on by a cream reaction) the GP can safely treat it.trust me I'm a veteran of skin problems.oh and iv found the tickets and we'r off to PIL for lunch so things looking up famous last words

funchum8am · 01/04/2012 10:48

Thanks for the explanation madmonkeys. I have only had my booking appt so far where obviously it was just form filling and too early to hear the hb so I really am clueless on what to expect (first pregnancy that has got this far).

I woke up to find my nose peeling (not sunburn, I hardly went out yesterday!) Will check my belly now!

Also was about to go out for a walk in the lovely weather but came over faint which is not very nice. Off to try again now.

Can anyone advise on bump bands? I want to get a bit more use out of my existing jeans - did someone say there are some that hook over your buttons? I can only find the big broad bands online, they don't seem to actually attach to your trousers anywhere so not sure they will stay up. Just started properly showing.

ballroomblitz · 01/04/2012 12:27

Yes my nose is peeling too and I know it's not the sun as I've hardly been out the door the past couple of days. Ds not well again with another cough, cough, vomit so I've been keeping him indoors. My face is horrrendously dry as well inbetween the pregnancy acne. Yep, I'm looking well attractive right now.

Also quite tired most days but I haven't been sleeping great at night for weeks now. Constantly waking up from turning over one side to the other. Think I might order a pregnancy pillow today. Anyone used one or have any suggestions? The ones I looked at before seem to take over most of the bed. I don't care about that but df might Grin

moogs1000 · 01/04/2012 14:44

Don't think its anymore than dry skin just not pleasant.funchum I got my bump bands from matalan £8 for two and they r just a band. I just wear them over my undone trousers and haven't lost a pair yet!

funchum8am · 01/04/2012 17:12

I have ordered some trouser holder uppers from ebay and will try the bands if those don't work - I have had bad experiences with tops always rolling and pinging up over my belly and resting on the top when NOT pg so am a bit wary!!!

Have just been out and bought oil to rub in as a couple of friends and colleagues were adamant that this would reduce the effect of skin stretching but can't help thinking if I use it on my belly, I'll just shoot out like a fish if DH tries to hug me in bed!

twizzlestix · 01/04/2012 21:17

Another here with peeling nose but no sun exposure! My skin is ridiculously dry too despite litres of bio oil! Obviously a pregnancy thing.

Was lent a Doppler today, took me a good 10-15 mins to find HB. At 16 week check midwife found straight away so guess I was expecting it to be easy! Found my HB first it was 91bpm!!! Much higher than usual (guess that's due to increased blood flow or something) Baba's HB was 156bpm so according to old wives tales its a girl :) :) Chinese gender predictor says ... Boy :) :) one is bound to be right! Guess will see which is correct in 2 weeks at 20 wk scan.

Anyone else finding out if pink or blue at 20 wks? We're too excited to wait!

leelteloo · 01/04/2012 21:29

Nothing peeling here yet. Used bio oil last time and never got a single stretch mark, marvellous stuff.
We're definitely finding out sex as only got girl baby things, so if it's a boy I get to shop, yea!
16 week check tomorrow: v excited.

Macaroons · 01/04/2012 23:39

Hope everyone's well. Haven't been posting as much lately but have been reading your posts! No peeling from me, and I've been using bio oil twice a day on my bump too. Hope I won't get stretch mark!! I'll be finding out sex of baby at 20 weeks scan too, 25 days to go and I can't wait! (was very tempted to go for a private scan to find out but didn't wanna spend 100 quid!) have started to think about nursery furniture. We quite like a changing table that lies on top of some drawers from mama and papas but their reviews are mixed so we are not sure. Anyone have any experience to share?

Loopyhasanotherbean · 02/04/2012 08:58

macaroons for the first 6 months DS slept in our room, and we just had a changing mat on top of DP's chest of drawers. When he moved into the nursery, we bought a dresser that matched his cotbed, which had a changing area on top where we put the mat, and a couple of shelves underneath for all the nappies/wipes and other baby stuff. i'd link to which one it is, but kiddicare no longer stock it, as i looked a few months back for a friend who wanted one the same.

our 20 week scan is on 27th April, and we will definitely find out the sex unless it's legs are crossed, we did with DS, i think it helps with bonding to have time to get used to what you are having, although it was our little secret and we didn't tell anyone what we were having until he was born.

pgreen · 02/04/2012 09:14

thanks rightontime my tummy has started to show over the weekend so was growing pains - if I get anymore I'll give the mw a call. I don't have another appt till 24 wks now although think I might try to go in about 21 wks to hear the heartbeat.

Bakeroo if you can find a time that works for you I think you'll like it. I was amazed at the "stretching" of the diaphragm to "create more room" - not used to stretching side muscles so much. People of all stages at my class even a lady at 36 wks!

MadMonkeys I've been knackered this week, really unusual for me. Thought we were meant to be bloomin' now!

moogs1000 my skin is drying out ridiculously keep having to put lashings on. Like you thought might be the cream and changed but no continued. In fact I'd go so far to say as my hands are chapped and face is tighter than a snare drum.....

I'm defo up for finding out if its a boy or girl. Really do not mind which we have just very excited we're having a baby at all - and that its not a puppy or something in there. This will make me sound really shallow but it means I'll be able to plan the nursery properly (i'm an interior designer) and I can whittle down my husbands list of outrageous names.

Anyway can't believe its April and that its getting colder. Have just booked a week away, a sort of "babymoon" to get some warmth and absolute chill in before I'm no longer able to fly. I'm sure it'll be a LONG LONG time before we spoil ourselves again, or go on holiday!

MissCoffeeNWine · 02/04/2012 11:28

No peeling here and my skin seems fine, not too tired. I really want to find out the sex and might be able to tomorrow. I need every bit of information I can get about what's going on in there at the moment. I had the 16 week appointment last week so that was all good, now it's the appointment with the specialist. I'm really not confident mentally at the moment, 17 weeks is when I lost my DS.

I won't be planning a nursery, if I do get a baby it won't have one (deprived child) I'll probably do as I did with DD and do all the buying after the baby is here depending on what it needs.

Rusulka · 02/04/2012 13:07

MissCoffee FX you can find out the sex tomorrow. Hoping everything will be ok for you. If it makes you feel any better, ours won't get a nursery either, even though we have the room, and I'm going to restrict the amount of toys they have since I can't stand the thought of a mountain of brightly coloured plastic in my house... my favourite toy was a cardboard box, so I'll be working from that, with a few basic developmental toys.

We will be finding out the sex- assuming I ever get a 20 week scan appt through- as I would rather know and prepare for what it is now, not that it'll make any difference as we don't mind either way, but it'll stop me doing what my MiL did- she convinced herself it was a girl, didn't find out the sex, and then was very miffed with DH when he was born. (!!!) I don't want my first experience with my first child to be 'oh, you weren't what I wanted'.

Pgreen I bet you're looking forward to your holiday. The nearest thing we'll get to that is when my MiL buggers off to Germany for a fortnight, and then buggers off to Brazil shortly after getting back. And to be honest that's all we need. The stress of having her here is doing my head in!

WinkyWinkola · 02/04/2012 13:26

Grin Rusulka. You will find you are King Canute against the tide of plastic tat!

Thali34 · 02/04/2012 13:45

rusulka sympathise on MIL front, mine is coming in June. DH and I can both only cope if she stays a week at a time, max! Or it drives us mad.

My skin is Also SO dry!! Has been for weeks. Bump doesn't feel dry, but have a rash!! Bit worrying but have showed it to MW and GP and they weren't unduly worried. GP sent me for blood test on Fri in case. Hope it's just hormones and/or dry/irritated skin! Arms, legs, hands, face SO dry!! Have given up on moisturiser for face and started using straight sweet almond oil from health shop. Skin lapping it up and starting to feel better. Still Very rough and bumpy tho... Either spots, or also a rash!?

Bump Bit sore too, on one side, bit like a stitch!! It comes and goes. Hope it's just stretching!

Very excited as we've booked a little hol start of June... A cruise!!! Nice as no flights involved. Never been on a cruise, so hope it will be OK! Or we'll be trapped for 8 nights!! Looking forward to it though.

Think we'll be keeping the sex of Baby as a surprise. It will probably be in with us in our room for the first few months, but will start preparing a Baby space/room too, for changing etc..

Hope you all have a good week.

Littlecherublegs · 02/04/2012 14:46

Not posted for a while so just been catching up! Currently 17 weeks.

We have the 20 weeks scan on 24th April so looking forward to that! We dont want to find out the sex though as we liek the idea of the surprise.

We wont be doing a nursery as such either - baby will be in our room for the first few months then will be put into the spare room which we will make baby-ish but we'll probably be moving house next year so dont want to do too much int he way of DIY etc.

I havent had any of the skin peeling (so far anyway) but my face is quite spotty and blemish-y so not feeling ultra attractive at the moment!

Im still quite tired too though nowhere near as bad as I was during the first 10 weeks or so.

I think Im just at that in-between stage where I dont really feel pregnant as such - ie. the very early pregnancy symptoms have gone (the sickness and the really sore boobs / nipples etc.) but its a bit too early to be having lots of the later pregnancy symptoms such as backache, swollen ankles, etc.
I have definitely put on weight but dont feel its a bump as such, more just a bit fatter around my waist and hips. If people dont know Im pregnant they'll just think I'm a bit tubby!! Does anyone else feel the same?

Loup23 · 02/04/2012 16:12

Hi all, just back from holidays and catching up with the thread - sorry to hear of the dry skin problems, I haven't had that but littlecherub am completely with you re blemishes - I feel quite unattractive with my spotty chest and back......

I am also in the "in between" stage - 18+2 and feeling unpregnant but defnitely have signs of a bump and I think I felt movement last week...anyone else? This is my first so I am guessing it might be too early but we were skiing so maybe the mountain pressure meant I could feel it or I am kidding myself . Have my "20 week" scan this Thursday, will only be 18+5 and already mentalling that this will be the last scan....

Hope everyone else is well, anyone else having the 20 week this week?
