Argh just seen the hideous typo in my last post obviously I'm hoping she CAN hear the heartbeat! Although have just seen your post bakeroo isn't it strange how pct's vary what they do. Good luck tomorrow Jules xx

Thank you for the bra suggestions will look in to them!

leelteloo · 21/03/2012 21:59

Thanks loopyhasanotherbean, I will definitely get them measured again nearer the birth, sure they will get bigger, they did a bit with my dd. I just mentioned the bra cause I feel comfy for the 1st time in ages and didn't really find a good non wired bra last time. Smile .
Such a shame not to hear heart beat at 16 week check, hope desperately my mw has a look for it; it's too long between 12 and 20, limbo land nerves wont stand it!

MissCoffeeNWine · 21/03/2012 23:20

MW checked my last baby at the 16 week appt and we heard the HB, and I had a consultant appointment at 14+3 this time and she had a listen and found the HB. I have the MW next week again and hopefully I will have a listen again, and I'm going to ask to go in very frequently for more listens over my danger period - for my mental health! Whether they agree to let me will be another thing, find out next week. Next week I have two appointments and hopefully a scan within 5 days. So I'm not feeling the appointment draught like many of you!

If we get the scan in the late loss clinic I am thinking about asking about the baby's sex. I'd be 17 weeks. Wondering if it's a bad idea to get attached? But hated waiting for the PM results to find out the sex last time.

Had no more BHs since.

I'm only happy in my wired bras, wore the same size wires all the way through all my other pregnancies and nursing, with the addition of sleep bras and soft tops when needed, haven't had problems so far, but I've only got little boobs.

pgreen · 22/03/2012 08:45

hello ladies glad to see so much positive news. the thread on BH had me a little startled had no idea this was possible so early.

I'm having my 16wk MW appt today. I really hope we can hear the heartbeat, I've had a bit of a week this week so it would calm me. My Crohn's is mildly playing up this week (and I'm determined to stay drug free for the pregnancy) and then I was bitten by a dog on Monday. To say I'm feeling rattled would be an understatement...... Plus I've started getting lots of headaches. I reckon this is all because I had such an easy ride in the first 12 weeks.

On the bra front, still haven't found a comfortable one and still looking. I've gone up to a 36E but they all make me look like a mono-sausage-boob and really not very comfy. The quest continues.

Baby stuff though husband is going buggy crazy. He's decided that he must read all the literature and "test-drive" them and all sorts. A friend offered me her Quinny and he's said NO! Get this, because 1) its a Shakespearean word for lady place (lordy) and 2) its been used by someone else already and he wants his baby to have a NEW buggy/pram. With all the expense that is bound to come with this bundle of joy, I want to knock his block off.

Ju1es22 · 22/03/2012 09:14

Aw you poor thin sounds like your having a crap week, let's hope it gets bbetter later:-) Im off to my mw appointment in a minute bit nervous!

Good luck xx

leelteloo · 22/03/2012 09:37

Ah pgreen sounds like a tough week. My dh was complete opposite, would have gone to car boot for dd's buggy if he'd had his way. As it was I did have to get it off eBay but chose it carefully and loved it in the end. Wish he wasn't so tight Wink
Good luck with mw apps today

MissCoffeeNWine · 22/03/2012 09:53

I'm with you on the headaches pgreen, really horrible. I can't sleep through them either, so I was up at 3am taking paracetamol and was woken by the pain again this morning, not the alarm clock. I really don't deal well with pain in my head because it makes me feel like I can't think.

I hope you're okay after being bitten, how did that happen?

I just told my DP we won't be having a buggy and he was fine with that. I told him he could have one at toddler stage if he insisted but he didn't seem bothered about getting one so that's fine with me.

ballroomblitz · 22/03/2012 09:56

I suppose it's your own personal decision re gender Misscoffee. What does your OH think? I want to find out this time - mainly because I've been suffering from antenatal depression and I'm hoping it will help me bond with the baby, which I'm not feeling atm. I think a some of the depression stems from a pregnancy loss ten years ago - this one's due date will be just a few days off what the other lo's was. Brings up a lot of emotions that I thought I'd dealt with a long time ago but has kind of hit me for six.

Apparently you can feel BH from six weeks pgreen. Oh my word, that is shocking about the dog. Are you ok? I have a big brute of a dog myself but I'm scared of other dogs I have to say. Getting chased by two alsatians will do that to you I suppose! That's hilarious about your dh. I didn't know that about the word quinny. You learn something new everyday Grin

Good luck Ju1es

lurkingmurking · 22/03/2012 10:31

pgreen that really made me laugh about your DH - my DH was soooo uninterested in baby purchases with DS and actually it made my life so much easier to just pick everything! Though if you are ever going to get on a bus with baby do not get the quinny - it is so wide (which I found out after I'd bought it and had to squeeze on many buses and ended up with a maclaren!)

I'm so sorry about the dog though that would really shake me up.

misscoffee re the gender it's of course your own personal choice but from your past experiences I think it might be good for you to find out.

I'm in maternity trousers today which keep falling down Grin. I hate dressing for work in this weather and all my summery trousers were a struggle to get into and I have not prepared the legs for skirts yet!

Whatevertheweather · 22/03/2012 10:40

All fine at the mw's, phew! I asked if I could listen to the heartbeat first. Took a bit of finding, kept hearing lots of placental noises then she found it, the relief!! 135bpm so slower than both the girls ever were so maybe the old wives tale is true and it is a boy! Blood pressure etc all fine too so another hurdle hurdled. She was ever so lovely and has booked me in again in 2 weeks just so I can hear the heartbeat again bless her. Made me realise how totally numb the lower part of my stomach still is from the c-section though as she said she was pressing quite hard with the doppler and I couldn't feel a thing!

MissCoffee we are going to find out this time. Never have before but with dd2 in all the chaos and panic no-one told us if she was a girl or boy so we only found out when the neonatologist said 'I'm so sorry we haven't been able to save her' all I could say is 'oh so she's a girl'. Never want to find out like that again. What does your dh think?

Pgreen what a rubbish time you're having! Ouch to a dog bite, how did that happen? Is your tetanus jab up to date? Hope your mw appt goes well

Jules hope yours goes well too

cjbk1 · 22/03/2012 11:46

please someone work out my bra size for me! and really dont fancy a half hour drive to mothercare anyway, the underbust measurment is 32 (with nothing added iykwim) and overbust is 33-4 i pulled it quite tight as wearing a padded bra, an online calculator says 36aa but surely not! i tried on my 32d and dd maternity bras and they wernt much too big but i want to order some moulded/t shirt types that why i want some help with measurement please! thanx x

newtonupontheheath · 22/03/2012 12:32

Hi everyone...just popping on as have been lurking for far too long. Didn't want to tempt fate as had previous mmc at 11 weeks but am now 12weeks, had my scan on Tuesday and all is well Grin

But I am waving you all goodbye as my edd has been changed to 1st October! I'm off to find the October ladies

Sincerely, thank you for the support over the past few weeks. I've been through the highs and lows with you all despite not posting. Good luck, and if baby is early, maybe see you all on The Other Side Wink

Loopyhasanotherbean · 22/03/2012 13:40

cjbk1 i would have thought a 2 inch difference made you a C cup? and not sure but think you might need to go to a 34 not 32? (your rib cage expands during pregnancy, so they suggest getting a bigger size to allow for growth, so as long as if you can wear a bra comfortably on one of the lower settings with scope to expand it, it should be ok, otherwise you'll end up needing more later on.

Nice to keep hearing positive scan and MW news.

cjbk1 · 22/03/2012 14:24

Thankyou loopy I just cldnt work it out x

MakeTeaNotWar · 22/03/2012 15:52

Hello! I confess I haven't read the entire thread as am meant to be working but am too excited after my lovely scan this morning to see little 'un breakdancing and sucking its thumb ahhhhh! EDD was Oct 1 according to LMP but scan lady says it's now Sep 26th so here I am - hiya!

NightmareWalking · 22/03/2012 19:13

Welcome MakeTea! I 'lost' days at my scan too, it made me panic about how that wouldn't be enough time to get ready - love how irrational pregnancy makes me Grin

Got my screening results letter today and Down's risk is 1 in 100,000 so that's one less thing to fret about!

funchum8am · 22/03/2012 20:14

Lovely scan news ladies!

The dog bite sounds horrible, I do hope you are OK. That would really shake me up too.

I rang my GP surgery to book in for my 16 week appt with the midwife (two weeks from now) and they couldn't book me in til the last week of April (would be 19 weeks.) So they have booked me in with the GP instead - has anyone else had an appt with the GP instead? I am assuming that they know what they are doing but feel a bit Hmm about it as the GP will not have the same constant experience of seeing pregnant ladies. Or am I being ridiculous?!

Have had the week from hell at work as well and now my IBS is playing up something rotten so all round grumpy!

pgreen · 22/03/2012 21:18

was so amazing to hear my babies heartbeat today. It seems it was jigging all over the place as the mw would get it only for a moment and it would move suddenly. Like Whatevertheweather my mw said I could book in before the 24wk appt to hear the heartbeat again - which I'll definitely take up.

On the headache front MissCoffeeNWine she had a couple of things to try (as well as paracetomol) drinking lots of fluids to counter the effects of a drop in blood pressure and also maybe a caffeinated drink. Worth a try.

The mw was impressed - maybe not the right word - shocked? At the sight of my dog bite.... It happened in our local park, I was walking my lovely little dachshund. There was a sheepdog by the path who growled at my dog as he went past. He then came up to me and bit my leg. I was about to let it sniff my hand thank god I pulled it back quick might have had my fingers off. If that wasn't bad enough he then circled me barking - thought I was going to get bitten again. I won't be so keen on collies anymore I'm sure

Ponyclubmum · 22/03/2012 21:59

leelteloo, even if your boobs do get massive to begin with when your milk comes in, they will settle down after a few weeks, so you may well be able to use the same bra. Mine were ENORMOUS to begin with, DH had to go out and buy me the biggest bra he could find while I was stuck in hospital for 5 days after giving birth! Non of the ones I had bought would fit, but they did after a while when my milk settled down and feeding was well established.

twizzlestix · 22/03/2012 22:20

Big smiles all round over positive 16 week checks and scans. Congratulations to all!
pgreen [shocked] at dog bite! Did you need stitches? Glad your weeks ending on a positive with successfully hearing heartbeat.

Now, for any other maternity wear newbies like me. Just invade I'm not the only one...my maternity clothes wear v big but normal clothes too tight and I put up with it for about a week but then I noticed they have adjustable elastic on the insides like kiddies clothes Blush so pulled those much tighter and they now fit. So, erm, it might be worth checking Blush

twizzlestix · 22/03/2012 22:21

Oh god so many typos! I blame embarrassment!

rightontime · 23/03/2012 09:22

Glad to hear of lots of heartbeats heard. Grin
Misscoffe hope they can tell you the gender if that is what you want.
Whatever I'm sorry I can't remember, how long ago was your CS? I had one with DS1 and was numb for probably at least 12months. I was frequently scratching it too for months. Think it was just itchy from the healing. Was a bit Blush with my hands down the front of my trousers though lol!
Pgreen hope you recover quickly from your dog bite. I really hope the owner was very apologetic. Dogs like that should be kept under proper control.

I am desperate to crack out the mat trouser but they are mainly crops. I have one pair of jeans but they are overbump ones and I can't really face having anything on my belly ATM. even tops I have to pull up when I am sat down relaxing.

I only had my MW appointment and scan a week ago but I am already desperate to hear the heart beat. Am driving myself mad with worry. Sad

Whatevertheweather · 23/03/2012 09:38

It was only at the end of August Rightontime in fact 7 months on Sunday. Can't believe that long has passed, sometimes still seems like yesterday. I still think of her as a newborn so it always gives me a jolt to realise she would be sitting up, weaned and perhaps even trying to crawl by now.

Can you ring your midwife and arrange an extra reassurance check soon? I'm still riding high from hearing it yesterday but know like you it will wear off soon x

Thali34 · 23/03/2012 13:08

Hello ladies, been awol for a while and just caught up with the last week or so. Amazed to hear about the triplets, congratulations bailey, it actually brought tears to my eyes! Nice to hear about various positive results and scans, and to see some newcomers!

I had my 16 week MW appt yesterday and she checked for the heartbeat and found it! It was so amazing to hear, and so fast! A really special moment. I'm happy we were able to find it - I was going to ask her to try if she didn't suggest it. She did start by saying it would be hard to find, but I would have been worried if she didn't find anything, so it was a risk.

Feeling much more energetic now, and pretty normal - trying to enjoy it. Bump sticking out and looking very obvious, so focussing on that to make me feel pregnant! Definitely need maternity clothes now, though as some have said, it does make it look a lot more obvious than when I was just wearing my own more roomy/baggy clothes! Skin still awful, though nail really strong and long!

Methe · 23/03/2012 17:23

I'm in hospital as I had my stitch procedure today. It looks like they ruptures my membranes while they were doing it and I'm losing fluid. Baby's still alive but I expect it won't be for long.

:( I'm so sad and so upset.
