Hoping to carry on the brilliant thread started by misscoffeenwine which was so popular we got to 1000 posts before starting another - come over and join me...... Promise to think of a more original name for Part 3!

Glad to hear you more experienced ladies are relaxed about the vino - I am going on the 2 units a week and maybe even twice a week if it's a special occasion as that is the maximum I've seen under "if you really aren't going to stop completely" in the NHS literature. I have two hen dos coming up in April and intend to have a glass of fizz at each of those, plus every Friday night! I'm amazed how little I've missed it; to be honest I was drinking at least a glass of wine every night more or less before I got pregnant! (We only started over Xmas and that's when it happened - I was going to cut down after Xmas!)

It's nice to hear about a few scans in this limbo period - I am feeling much more relaxed now and misscoffee my thoughts are completely with you. My MCs were both at 6 weeks and I was very worried around then; I cannot imagine how much more grief you must have felt losing your babies at this stage. Thinking of you at this difficult time.

CluelessMama · 19/03/2012 20:26

First scan today went well, one apparently healthy baby :o
Not very co-operative for nuchal test measurement however, despite a lot of hip wiggling, jumping up and down and even a trip to the loo on my part, so back on Thursday to try again. It's quite a drive to the hospital for a second attempt but loved seeing the little one today so more of that can't be bad.
funchum I had half a glass of bubbly at a wedding reception at the weekend and definitely think a wee occasional drink is not drastic. And for the sake of total honesty, I should say I stopped at the half because I felt sick and not because I thought drinking the whole glass would make me a bad person!
Ju1es You have my sympathy with finding it difficult to know what you can and can't do at work. My job is physically active and the only advice I have had so far is that I should go with what feels right for my body. A tad concerned that I might not know something feels wrong for my body til I've hurt myself, but guess I'm just going with the flow a bit just now.
Just found out that friends are expecting with a due date v close to ours, exciting/crazy!!

oikopolis · 19/03/2012 21:42

My scan went sooooo well, lovely bouncy movey-roundy baby in there :) so pleased.

in other news, my obstetrician told me today that she is pregnant too, and we share a due date. Soooo I guess that means another obstetrician on the day eh...?

Dunnitt · 20/03/2012 08:58

jules the whole point of a risk assessment is to identify any risk, which you have done. You stick to your guns

macaroons go for a private scan, afterwards you'll think its the best money you've ever spent.

leelteloo · 20/03/2012 10:36

Just got my results, bloods all normal and 1 in 1900, which is great considering I'm an old gel. Grin

lurkingmurking · 20/03/2012 12:20

mrscoffee I have everything crossed for you.

ladygagoo enjoy your screaming free holibobs! Me and DH are planning our babymoon at the moment - very exciting and will definitely be going somewhere with no kids.

Ju1es with your history I would definitely say YANBU - surely someone else can do the sweeping? Could you perhaps chat to your colleagues and say you'll make the tea if they do the sweeping or something?

Now admit it - who is looking at baby stuff already? I got the new JoJo Maman Bebe catalogue through yesterday and there is some utterly divine things!

MissCoffeeNWine · 20/03/2012 16:28

No baby stuff here.

Have to ask if anyone else is having BH. Never had them this early and it's making me worry something is wrong.

CluelessMama · 20/03/2012 16:45

Sorry MissCoffeeNWine, not sure I can help. There's all sorts of odd feelings in my tummy but as it's first pregnancy I don't have any previous experience to identify what's going on. I think all I can say is look after yourself, and if you're really concerned see your midwife/GP. Hope all is well, everyone on the thread is rooting for you.
Ladies who were discussing pelvic pain/backache/aching buttocks...pain and stiffness in my butt cheek when I got up this morning was the worst yet, to the point that I couldn't lift my foot high enough to put on my slippers! Was half crying and half laughing at how ridiculous and pathetic I felt! Anyone found anything that helps these symptoms?!!

ladygagoo · 20/03/2012 17:37

misscoffee what do the BH feel like? I've been getting weird twinges for the last week or so (I'm 15w)

No baby stuff here either - its my first DC (although I have a live in DSS) but both my sisters have already inundated me with stuff (amusingly much of which I bought for them) so rather hoping I don't actually need to get that much. My DM has already put her dibs in on wanting to get the pram etc, not going to complain about that!

Great news on your scan results Oiko and leelteloo

MissCoffeeNWine · 20/03/2012 17:46

They feel like your whole uterus slowly turns to stone over the course of about 30 seconds. Whole thing just hardens up, like a clenching. Tummy goes all hard. Then it unclenches slowly. No pain just oddness. Pretty sure it's BHs as I had them loads with DD but never this early. I know what sets them off, for me it's (ahem) bedroom action or being dehydrated, I was as parched as if I'd spent the week in the Sahara yesterday and attempted a little jiggy this morning, so it's a fair bet at BH. They say your uterus contracts all the time it's just you don't tend to feel it until the third tri.

I think I'll ask in a more general place just for a bit of reassurance, I'm a paranoid android these days.

Whatevertheweather · 20/03/2012 18:06

I've had a few BH MissCNW very early for me too but they are quite low down not tight right across my tummy as they are later on. When are you due to see you mw again? I am Thursday so was going to mention it then x

MissCoffeeNWine · 20/03/2012 18:10

Next week, whatever yes I'll mention it. I only had them for about a half hour and they went off and haven't been back. Oh they took meright back to being pregnant with DD was quite nice actually in a strange way, made me feel properly preggers Smile

MadMonkeys · 20/03/2012 19:54

No BH for me, but then I never had them with DD. I'm entering that weird phase a lot of you mentioned when I don't really feel pregnant at all - the ms has almost gone and apart from feeling a bit tired and podgy I've got no symptoms at all. 16 week mw appointment in 2 weeks, so not that long really.

ballroomblitz · 20/03/2012 19:59

Misscoffee I never had them at all with ds that I noticed anyway, but think I've had the odd one or two this time from a couple of weeks ago. Not painful in the slightest just tummy feels as hard as a rock for a time then goes away. Strange for me because I've never had it before. They say you get them the whole way through, regardless of whether you feel them or not and you're more likely to feel them more in subsequent pregnancies earlier. Who knows why. Maybe because your body recognises all these different symptoms more? I know it's your worrying time now so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Great news on the scan results oikopolis and leelteloo. Mines feels ages away in May!!

rightontime · 20/03/2012 20:58

Misscoffee really hoping that you BH are harmless and nothing for you to worry about. I only get the much later and even then only after spicy curry that DH makes to attempt to bring on labour. Grin Seriously though I have my fingers firmly crossed for you. x

Macaroons · 21/03/2012 08:52

Yay for more good scan news! Grin

Sorry for silly question, but what is BH?

leelteloo · 21/03/2012 09:53

Braxton hicks (hope spelt it right?). Like contractions but happen outside of labour, I never had any, so not an expert.

I am on breakfast number 3, I just feel so hungry but guess I beats feeling as sick as a dog and looking as grey as dirty dish cloth. Also bought a fantastic maternity bra yesterday; have got quite big boobs and finding comfortable bra even when not preg can be a challenge. It's called bravado seamless nursing bra, so soft, so comfy. Was pricey but I think worth it as will be able to nurse in it too. It's all about the comfort for me right now.
Have a good day all, off to toddler splash 1st time nappyless, my dd not me of course Wink

lurkingmurking · 21/03/2012 11:26

misscoffee I had similar to BH at the weekend and I paniced too - definitely mention it to your MW.

Loopyhasanotherbean · 21/03/2012 15:18

Errr leelteloo sorry but i doubt you will be able to wear the same bra for nursing.....your boobs will increase in size after the birth. They recommend you go and get measured again a couple of weeks before your EDD and then go up at least another cup size on what you measure to allow for when your milk comes in.

i never had (or noticed) any BH's with DS but he had an anterior placenta and was back to back, so not sure whether these would have explained it? This bean has a posterior placenta so i will be interested to see how different it all feels from DS.

Whatevertheweather · 21/03/2012 18:40

16 week mw appt tomorrow - am really hoping she can't hear the heartbeat. Who else was it who had there's tomorrow?

Leetle my boobs didn't really change size after the initial surge around 10-12 weeks and didn't notice a change once my milk came in so you might be okay. As loopy says though it is worth getting measured around 36-37 weeks

I really can't wear non wired bras so am sticking with underwire which I know isn't great but I've yet to find a non wire bra that doesn't make my boobs look like a great saggy sausage Blush 36G if anyone has any suggestions!

Hope everyone is well.

Rusulka · 21/03/2012 19:28

MissCoffee interesting that you mention BH. This is my first pregnancy, so I have no previous experience of them, but you reminded me I had a dream where my whole stomach insides went as hard as a rock, and then at some point just completely relaxed. Now I'm not entirely sure I was dreaming! Good to know what to look out for.

WhatevertheWeather I WAS a 36HH. Now I must be at least a K. My favourite bra is the freya arabella (underwired), am hoping it goes up to a 38K to tide me over til I need a nursing bra, which will probably have to be an L (Christ!). It might be worth trying on bras in eg. Bravissimo or Leia if there's a branch near you to find out sizes, then go buy them on eBay like I do, lol. Much cheaper!!!

ballroomblitz · 21/03/2012 19:31

lettle my boobs stayed exactly the same size the whole way through with ds, just got a bit fuller at the start and firmer when my milk came in. This time I have gone up a cup size but it's the cup size I lost through breastfeeding him and I don't expect to go up any more.

Had a dream last night that I had a four day labour and hadn't felt a thing - yeah right Grin Tomorrow is the official start of the second trimester for me. Finally feel like I'm edging my way through this and getting somewhere.

Good luck for the mw appt tomorrow whatevertheweather and Ju1es

Loopyhasanotherbean · 21/03/2012 19:40

whatevertheweather i'm not quite as booby as you, but i'm an E cup at the moment (went up to a G cup when BF'ing DS). I couldn't afford la de dah prices, as i needed to have a lot of bras as DS had reflux, so had to have plenty of spares to wear/wash - the ones i opted for were firm support non-wired ones from mothercare, felt odd not wearing underwired to start with, but soon got used to it, and they really do give a lot of support. Not sure what their maximum cup size is, but they definitely do G and i think they might go above that. I know people who have spent far more per bra than i did, and got prettier ones, but they didn't have to keep changing clothes as much as i did!! I just wanted comfort, support, black and white colour options, and not too pricy. For me they fitted the bill.

Ju1es22 · 21/03/2012 19:48

Hey all

Thanks for the advise re work sorry the language but they're being tw*ts, being really sarky about my risk assessment telling me not to be silly im pregnant not I'll! Erm I know you idiots but im not putting my baby at risk for anyone!

Its me whateverthewearther we've both mw tomorrow, really want to hear beat but not sure if they try until next appointment my nhs book doesn't mention until 24 weeks, don't know if it depends on the area you live in im in shropshire west midlands! Good luck and fingers you do get to hear the little one!

Hope everyones ok I've also been getting bad pain in my public bone up my legs and bum for a few weeks now, seems to be getting worse too, will ask my mw tomorrow.

Bakeroo · 21/03/2012 20:48

Hi all, I had my 16 week midwife appointment today and she didn't attempt to listen to the baby's heartbeat. She said it was too early :( I'm sort of pleased she didn't try and fail but would love to have heard it. Feeling good at the moment except having got a cold a few days ago....I seem to pick up everything going! I don't feel very pregnant though. Tummy getting bigger but no other symptoms anymore....can't wait to feel baby move and for 20 week scan but have a few more weeks to wait for that. Really wanting to plan something nice for DH and I to do together before baby comes but what? Don't want to fly somewhere as have to fly/travel for work but would love to something together that's fun and away....before we're never alone again!!
