Is anyone else feeling anxious to know that all is well with the pg? I am 16 weeks now, 12 week scan was a month ago and midwife appt not for another 2 and a half weeks. Apart from a bit of insomnia and frequent peeing I don't really have any symptoms and felt flutterings a few weeks ago but nothing since. I also don't feel that my bump has really grown since 12 week scan (although DH thinks it has).

Have no pain/ blood or any other reason to worry so should I just relax? How do others get through this limbo period? It's my first one so I have no barometer of what is normal!

Ju1es22 · 18/03/2012 14:22

Hey Ellie

I know the anxious feeling all too well this is my 6th pregnancy in 3 years, this one so far going welishl! I've been lucky/unlucky im been closely monitored due to previous problems ive had more scans due to bleeding already (don't mean to scare you) but as of two weeks ago all was fine!

Firstly everyones different growth wise they say esp with your first you don't always show u till nearer to 20 weeks, my bump appeared literally overnigh so you never know what this week may bring! Im keeping myself positive by keeping busy and occupied started looking at prams and cots obvs wont buy anything yet!

I had a private scan at about 10 weeks which was the best reassurance I've had so far, well worth the money if you can afford it cost us about £60 and they were lovely plus if you wanna know the sex they start to tell privately from this time on:-)

I hope this has helped a little, I feel exactly the same and I bet were not the only ones x

WinkyWinkola · 18/03/2012 15:27

Did you find out gender Jules?

elliemay80 · 18/03/2012 16:23

Thanks Jules for the reassurance. I hope the midwife appointment goes well on Thurs and you get to hear the HB x

Whatevertheweather · 18/03/2012 19:37

Ellie I feel the same at 16 weeks it's really limbo land in terms of symptoms. But this is my 3rd it's been the same both times before so it is normal not to feel much at this stage. After 20 week scan is when things start to get a bit more frequent in terms of movements and bump starting to show. I've got a mw appt Thursday too so am hoping I will be able to hear the heartbeat.

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend xx

Ju1es22 · 18/03/2012 20:04

Should have worded that differently winkywinkola they can start to tell sex privately pretty accurately from about 16 the same stage ellies at, were gonna book a 4d sexing scan for 24 weeks though eek exiting!

Thanks ellie hope we do hear hb my pregnancy guide doesn't mention they listen to it until my next appt at 24 weeks (shropshire) But think im having a scan with consultant at 17 weeks so cant complain! Take care x

Good luck with mw appointment too whatevertheweather same day as mine!

CluelessMama · 18/03/2012 20:07

What a lovely sunny weekend, hope you've all had a good one.
Was at a wedding reception last night and got to bed at 1.30am...looked like a ghost with very pale white face and grey circles under eyes...partying and pregnancy are not entirely compatible, hope it will be easier once everyone knows I have an excuse for feeling exhausted!
Scan tomorrow...getting nervous!
Told Mum and Dad our news at lunchtime today and think they were a bit stunned. They managed to say it was lovely news, congratulations etc, asked about due date, then all conversation stopped for a while and then they started chatting about Formula One and the weather!! Hopefully it will start to sink in and we'll be able to give them good scan news tomorrow...fingers and toes crossed!

funchum8am · 18/03/2012 20:09

elliemay I am only at 13 weeks but feel exactly the same as you - no symptoms save seeing and bigger boobs and no bump in sight (though I have several times been asked if I'm pg when I wasn't - I carry all my weight round my middle so look pg most of the time anyway!!!) Ages til next scan and mw appt but like you no obvious reason to worry so I guess it's just a case of hang in there and enjoy feeling well! You can always have a private scan as others have said, if finances allow, and you never know your bump may suddenly make an appearance (I hope mine does, I feel like a fraud now people know but I'm not showing yet!)

On another topic, I had half a glass of wine last night at a posh dinner do - am I evil?

ballroomblitz · 18/03/2012 22:03

I'm just enjoying the rest and no symptoms ellie before the lo starts using my bladder as a trampoline and my stomach as a punchbag every time I try to sleep.

I had my consultant meeting at 11 weeks along with my scan Ju1es. Just really went through my history with ds - looked at my hospital notes when I was pregnant with him, his notes, report on placenta and the like. Discussed meds for this time and had I given any thought to wanting either vbac or elcs? How they propose to keep an eye on me and what the plan is with scans and appointments going forward, well to 30 weeks so far.

funchum course you aren't. If it's any consolation to you I had a half glass of wine last week on my birthday. Had poured myself a full (small, not my usual large) glass but felt too guilty drinking it so gave the rest to my mum Grin

That's sounds like a lovely Mother's day pressie to your mum Cluelessmama. Good luck for your scan tomorrow and the same to Ju1es and whatevertheweather for your mw appointments on Thursday.

Macaroons · 19/03/2012 08:46

Hello all. Haven't been posting as I've been unwell, now much better thanks for all your messages and tips. although I'm still coughing, the temperature has gone back to normal, thankfully!

Can see there's some exciting news here, triplets!! Congrats bailey!!

lurkingmurking · 19/03/2012 09:03

ellie I remember last time this limbo period is the worst! After the 20wk scan it's so much better as you can feel more regular movements but between the 12 wk scan and the next appointment it's ages!!

funchum no not at all!! I've been far more relaxed this time around and my mw said I could have 2 units of alcohol a week and have been having that.

I had a slight panic yesterday afternoon as my tummy/bump was really sore and achey. It got a lot better when I was lying flat so did that for a few hours while DH ran round after DS Grin

I think my bump has popped a bit today so that explains it!!

TinkerMaloo · 19/03/2012 09:10

I am in limbo too... it sucks! cant wait to see the midwife to hear the heartbeat... she best be able to find it on wed or i will be beside myself!

on a better note though got my screening results back with a 1:6188 risk of downs, so im over the moon with those odds :) thats lower than my last pregnancy, and im over 35 now.

i have had 3 glasses of wine so far this pregnancy, i know the advice has changed but pregnancy hasnt and i dont think a little now and again hurts, i didnt believe them about the peanuts either when i was pregnant with my first..

happy belated mothers/mothers-to-be day everyone :)

MissCoffeeNWine · 19/03/2012 10:01

I know what you mean about limbo. Every day seems like a lifetime at the moment and I'm symptom spotting like mad. I do have more appointments than most, I know, but it's very hard for me having lost two round this time. I'm too scared to do pretty much anything in case I dislodge the baby. I can't go running or exercise properly or swim or have proper sex, just in case. I'm hoping the consultant will be able to give me some proper answers or improve the odds from the 50/50 I was told last time. It's also my DS's due date soon which kind of rubs the salt in. I'm 15 weeks now right in my danger zone Sad

Littlecherublegs · 19/03/2012 10:34

Havent posted on here for a while so just catching up on the news!!

All is good with me - am now 14+6, sickness seems to be decreasing alot and energy levels are getting slightly higher (thank goodness!)

Have now told everyone, whoop! Smile

Bump is appearing now I think though not sure if Im just getting fat??!!

Do you ladies have a definite bump or like me, where it is just generally thicker round the stomach, hips and waist? I can still fit in most of my clothes though I think I will have to get some bigger sizes soon!
Also I think I am beginning to see the inside of my belly button (eeewwww!!)

ladygagoo · 19/03/2012 11:05

Its weird, I thought once everyone knew I would feel more confident and relaxed about my pregnancy, but its almost the opposite. I now feel more pressure, in that I would be letting so many people down, if it doesn't work out. Cannot imagine the pressure you are under Misscoffee - lots of sympathy and crossing of fingers that this one is the 'One'.

My bump is still rapidly expanding - seems to feel bigger every day. Now getting a bit cross with DM and MIL constantly saying how big I am .....blah blah blah. Even DP has offered his tuppence and 'explained' that I didn't get a chance to lose my Xmas weight before getting pregnant Hmm. He is normally fab so I have overlooked that one for now - he'd just better not repeat it.

On a positive note, my maternity tankini from JojoMaman has just arrived and is just perfect (ie will support my boobs nicely) I tried one on in mothercare last week and it was truly hopeless. Only 12 more days before we go on holiday (totally childless as DSS is away for a week with his mum). We've even booked an adults only hotel so we won't be bothered with little screaming darlings..... I am looking forward to having a baby Grin really I am!!

twizzlestix · 19/03/2012 11:28

Thank you for well wishes guys am now feeling much more human!

Wow! Twins kazar and triplets baileys Brilliant news :) I can't imagine the excitement (and shock) of your family! Congratulations

ellie I know exactly how you feel! I'm 16+2 and felt very un-pregnant until last Friday when had my 16 week check and heard the heartbeat :) :) :) she found it straightaway after warning me she might now be able to locate it. 140bpm so all is well. So hopefully you'll get to hear yours too

Smallgreenone · 19/03/2012 12:17

I'm in limbo too ladies, so much so that I've booked in for a scan at the end of this week! Hopefully everything will be ok and then it's only 2 weeks to go until the mw appointment where hopefully she'll listen to the heartbeat.
I've still not told my work colleagues but one of the girls said today how big my boobs are looking these days! It's a bit embarrassing! I have also had to buy some new jeans a couple of sizes bigger than normal but still no bump to speak of just generally thicker round the middle and with enormous breasts!

york67 · 19/03/2012 13:37

Am between 12 1/2 and 13 weeks now depending on dates. Told dc and MIL yesterday. Dc were especially thrilled which is great. Was a little worried about my 6 year old who has been the baby! for so long.
Anyone know how long it takes to get results from Downs blood screening test?
Also got a pain lower left hand side. Wondering if it could be an infection so perhaps it that pelvic girdle pain. Not so fit this time around.
Congrats bailey. Amazing news.

Loup23 · 19/03/2012 14:26

Macaroons glad you are feeling better!

york my results took about 2.5weeks to come through the post, I think they call if the risk is high so no news is good news!

I had a private scan today at 16+2 as started mentalling about the limbo as soon as the 12week scan was done Blush, pleased to say all was well and the bean was fidgeting all over the place so hope that reassures some of you stuck in limbo and not feeling very pregnant. Was so tempted to find out the sex but managed not to.

I'm also just feeling chunky around the middle with enormous boobs, looking forward to a proper bump (will be taking that back when sweating my way to work on the tube in the heat of summer.....!)

elliemay80 · 19/03/2012 16:01

Very reassuring to hear that those other limbo-dwellers are getting good news!

I have managed to bring my midwife appointment forward to a week today when I'll be 16+6 (it was previously scheduled for 18+2 which is far too long to be left in limbo!) I really hope all is well and they get to hear the heartbeat.

Annoyingly, I did the routine urine sample at my booking in appt (at 12 weeks) and the midwife said it seemed like there could be an infection and would send it for investigation. I got a letter a week later asking me to repeat it which I duly did (after work with a bus ride to the hospital and back). I didn't hear anything and got a letter today asking me to repeat the sample again! I'm so annoyed as it's been 4 weeks now and if there is an infection (though I feel fine) it's not good to leave it untreated. Grrr!!

rightontime · 19/03/2012 16:55

elliemay Are you making sure the sample is midstream. At my specialist clinic they insist that it needs to be done properly. So wipe with cotton wool before you wee so that your bit are free from any contaminants, wee the first bit in to the toilet and then do your sample. The MW was very clear that if there was any bits floating in the sample it would be useless. Hope this helps.

elliemay80 · 19/03/2012 17:10

Thanks rightontime. I thought I had but that's probably the problem.

Dunnitt · 19/03/2012 18:38

Hello everyone. Reassuring to hear lots of you talking about limbo land. I had 5 scans between wks 5 and 12 so a 4 wk wait until wk 16 is feeling like an eternity.

Went swimming for first time in ages today and was continually worried that I was doing too much. But can't sit around doing nothing otherwise it will be a food baby I'll be having!

Ju1es22 · 19/03/2012 18:55

Finallly had my risk accesment at work today, only because something heavy fell on me last week mind you!

Im a full time travel agent, and our job mostly involves get up and down to see customers, sales , handling piles of brochures and general office cleaning.

All was fine except when it came to cleaning I've asked not to mop or sweep, due to 5 bleeds already in this pregnancy and 5 previous miscarriages plus im classed as high risk.that was the only thing my manager didn't totally agree with, am I being unreasonable?I was just told to be extra careful by my mw and there's 5 other non pregnant capable staff that can do it!

Sorry for another novel! Just a bit peed off!

Macaroons · 19/03/2012 19:20

loup I'm very tempted to have a private scan too. My NHS one is not till 26/4! That's ages to go... And I quite wanna find out the sex of the baby! Debating whether to spend the money for a private scan, or save for baby shopping!

elliemay how annoying that they keep asking for more samples! If in doubt you could drink a glass or cranberry juice each day? That kills the UTI bacteria. Or you could just go to the GP and say you suspect you have UTI? You maybe able to do the test there and find out immediately so they could prescribe you with antibiotics sooner rather than later.

I start having backache... Hurt a lot before I fell asleep last night but I did sleep ok. Hurt again after a full day at work ...
