Hello ladies! I can't wait to see how many No Brooking babies arrive during the course of this thread!! Do you realise we have now filled SEVEN threads (and that's just the graduates!) That's 7000 posts and counting!

Let's all get settled in for some serious No Brooking, we have a lot of painless sneeze births to get through over the next couple of weeks!

popcorn we just kept them in a nappy bucket with a good lid and washed every other day. No stink (are friends carried on visiting anyway!)

Defo worth trying a few out before buying a whole set if you can. Jen if you google real nappy week and your area you might find that some stuff is going on, even if the council doesn't do anything- mine doesn't either but a charity hires out trial kits.

Really hope too has her Bean now!

And just after midnight you say purple? will commence serious brooking about 8 then (should give you time to eat dinner first).

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 09/03/2012 16:43

By the way, Purple how is your day going? Any recurrence of the contractions from this morning? Naturally as you'll be having a sneeze birth there's no need for the contractions to have started yet for you to still have your LO just after midnight as planned!

There are several videos showing how to use g nappies. We have a bucket with a mesh bag inside to store them in before washing. Flush the poo down the loo, using a liner makes this easier, and chuck in the dry bucket. Everything can then be chucked in the machine. Most companies recommend using a 3rd of your usual powder. You can add a sanitiser to the wash if you want. Don't use fabric softener. Some nappies can be tumble dried, others need to be line dried.

musicalmrs · 09/03/2012 16:46

Me three! I suspect my evening will be similarly unproductive.. Grin

Popcorn, I think Purple is the Brooker in the know when it comes to reusable nappies (although I may be wrong?), but she definitely suggested the website Fill Your Pants. It has lots of information on there! You can use biodegradable liners to get rid of all the poo in the nappies (or as much as possible!), so hopefully it'll only be wet ones hanging around - and the idea is that they don't hang around for long before you wash them anyway I think!
I think they have info on their "Resources" section, but can't check from where I am right now...

Jen, sad about your council not doing anything :( I only found out about real nappy week while trying to find some discounts myself - I love a bargain! :)

PopcornMouseInBoots · 09/03/2012 16:49

Thanks for explaining wants and fishcake - I'll have a google of that website musical :)

PopcornMouseInBoots · 09/03/2012 16:52

(DH is very allergic to lanolin and I'm concerned Mini-Pops will inherit that. I know its used in pampers you see (and most creams/moisturiers etc), so it might be we have to go the reusable route)

musicalmrs · 09/03/2012 17:21

Same here Popcorn, though it's me with the allergy! Reminds me, still need to research nipple cream and get some testers of the ones that claim they're fine for lanolin allergy sufferers...

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 09/03/2012 17:22

Popcorn Fill your pants is a vegan website so no lanolin worries. And is the one I recommend. Dirty nappies get put in a lidded bucket and really don't smell that much! Mine are kept in the utility now, but had them in my kitchen in my old house with no problems. I swear by the flushable liners as I am not a poo person! Bleurgh.

No labouring here! In a bad mood due to this and that I have been active and have only worn myself out and given myself back ache! GRR.

Sweep tomorrow, so hoping that will help, although not convinced on getting my fanjo out, especially as my last exam has bad associations for me.

Where is Too I am sure she is having snuggles but I am on tenterhooks and keep checking back.

Biscuits If your around the RLT is a uterine tonic so is believed to help with shrinking it down. Dream I imagine the not RLT for twins thing is due to the myth that RLT can bring on labour, which it doesn't just tones your muscles to make your contractions more effective.Up to you if you want to drink or not :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 09/03/2012 17:26

Sorry to hear you're tired with no signs of labour Purple! (It is a little early though, I'm with Fishcake and No Brooking for an 8pm kick off!)

DreamingOfPeace · 09/03/2012 18:05

Also, my phone battery is about to die I've checked on here so often today!!

TheLittleFriend · 09/03/2012 19:33

Congratulations biscuits another gorgeous son for you xxx And I so pleased he arrived so quickly! Hope stitches aren't giving you any bother. I had a 2nd degree tear and it really was fine.

too brooking hard that you're having newborn cuddles and are updating us as i type xx

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 09/03/2012 19:42

Dream up to 4 a day, I do have my patented cheat which is double bagging a large mug as I get sick of it! I also find it more palatable stronger which is odd. Tbh I would have thought you can drink as much as you want!

Thanks for the reassurance I have had a nap and feel a bit better.

I think Too although we all eagerly await our babies has something of an emotional journey to go through and I just hope she is well and enjoying this special time. :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 09/03/2012 19:48

Glad you're rested and feeling better Purple, because we're getting to miniPurple time! Grin

OP posts:
NinjaChipmunk · 09/03/2012 20:13

purple yy to too's emotional journey.

It only would have taken a couple more emergencies to come in to totally knock back the time she would have been done at as well to sometime early evening.

Biscuitsandtea · 09/03/2012 20:14

Hoping Too is busy with her gorgeous newborn snuggles.
