Wel I've just lied down again and I could still see it. It's moved position though, more to the right hand side and a bit further down.
Totally bizarre!!!

I suppose it's nice in a way but you can see the shape of the baby and theres nothing else there at all.

vickiyumyum · 04/03/2006 16:41

sorry gatecrashing from the march 2006 thread with a message for MOJOMUMMY so pleased to see you on here and wishing you all the best, tried emailing you but it bounced back! would love to finally meet up again now i am on maternity leave and have some free time.

Boopert · 04/03/2006 16:45

Afternoon everyone! How are we all?

Arabica · 04/03/2006 17:48

Grrrrrrr, I am feeling anxious and stressed. Haven't felt any movement for over 36hrs and am totally paranoid. I know it's normal for my stage of pregnancy (am 18 +5) but I can't seem to stop myself.

pucca · 04/03/2006 18:15

NGB..Wow that is so cool, how big is the baby bump? i think if you are slim it is very normal, i had it with my dd but much later on, had lots of fat in the way in the earlier weeks lol.

pucca · 04/03/2006 18:16

Arabica...Why don't you hire or buy a doppler? they are great for putting your mind at ease, i bought one off ebay for £50 inc p&p and they sell well so you can always make your money back after baby is born. Smile

Nbg · 04/03/2006 18:28

Pucca if you spread your fingers it's probably as big as the distance between your thumb and little finger.

I checked it again and it was still the same but did it later and it's stopped doing it Grin

Arabica, now you keep telling me not to worry so must do the same!!!
Have a lie down and have a little prod about. See if that triggers anything. You may have been too busy to notice.

pucca · 04/03/2006 18:30

NBG..Aww bless!! lol.

Just wanted to add, ifeel more flutters/kicks if i am sat with my belly squashed a little, always feel them when sat on PC chair when leaning over a little...sounds weird but true! lol.

Nbg · 04/03/2006 18:33

The babys dictating to you already!

What it's trying to say is get off that Mumsnet Grin

pucca · 04/03/2006 18:35

Pmsl...i know Grin

Arabica · 04/03/2006 18:35

I am squashing myself up as I type, but nothing. Got the wrong kind of seat for it--I've got one of those kneeling chairs.
I had decided not to get a doppler as couldn't face NOT being able to hear anything with it.
Going to stop being so paranoid--have resolved to contact midwives if still feel as scared on Monday. Meanwhile will try to distract myself with the telly and some cooking.

pucca · 04/03/2006 19:12

Arabica..I had a doppler when pg with my dd as well as this time, and from this stage i have never not found the heartbeat, with this one i have been trying to find it from 12 weeks and earlier on..i did struggle, but now i am 17 wks i have no prob what so ever, i think they are more help than hinderance, and i really think it would help you to put your mind at ease and you could always ask your MW to show you how to use it.Smile

Arabica · 04/03/2006 22:41

If only I had a midwife! Where I live you get allocated to a team of community midwives and never see the same one twice. They also often swap around the teams when someone is off sick, so the nice friendly one that booked me in will never be seen again. My fear with the doppler is not that it won't work because I can't use it, but that it won't work because there is no heartbeat for it to pick up.

eve2005 · 04/03/2006 23:11

know what you mean arabica. i live in constant fear when i'm preg. get loads of reassurance when at doctors or at scan and an hour later i'm panicing because i haven't felt movement since! would end up with doppler permently at my side which probably isn't healthy!

your babies probably just a gentle soul, wide awake but choosing not to poke mummy too muchSmile. try lying down propped up with pillows, ie in corner of couch, with your feet up and knees bent. put your hand flat on the lower part of your abdomen and stay like that for a while, watch tv or somthing. you'll notice the faint flutterings against your hand that you don't normally feel. plus baby will sense you there and investigate. hope it works, usually does when i'm freaking out Smile

Arabica · 04/03/2006 23:26

Thanks eve2005 for all your suggestions, I am going to bed now, I love the idea of a gentle little soul. My DS is a bit like that, very cuddly and non-aggressive (although he has his moments...) Maybe no. 2 is the same.

Nbg · 05/03/2006 10:10

How are you today Arabica?

I had the same weirdy bump this morning so I decided just to lay and see what happened. I did feel some kicks.
I think I was expecting too much from the kicks and thats why I thought it wasn't kicking.
I can just remember getting some really good jabs when I had dd's 20 week scan.
Only got 3 weeks to wait for that now Grin

trix1 · 05/03/2006 10:30

Good Morning all, I have had very little movement all week too, but I had my scan on Thursday and all was fine. I think at this time we should be feeling better but yet the little cherubs are not big enough to make strong kicks yet - they are all to come. Im gong to try and not to worry but I do try to lie down for a while with my hand on my stomach to see if I can feel anything - sometimes I do but mostly I dont.

It looks lovely outside but Im sure its cold, I have to spend the day finishing an assignment that has to be handed in tomorrow :o

Nbg · 05/03/2006 10:35

Hiya Trix
Do you have anymore scans after 20 weeks or will that be it?

Would love to have a scan right now or even just to have a doppler but have been feeling some kicks these last few minutes so I'm not too worried.

It does look gorgeous outside but no doubt it will be freezing. I really want to cut the grass but it's too early and the grounds still frozen with a bit of snow.

eve2005 · 05/03/2006 10:49

alot can change in 3 weeks nbg, chances are you'll be feeling this one as strongly by then! it all changes so quickly at this stage. last time at 16/17 weeks i could just about feel faint fluttering and by 20 weeks i could see ripples across my stomach!

hope your ok today arabica, can't imagine how stressed you must be, i know it's impossible really but try not to worry too much.

trix1 · 05/03/2006 11:17

oh im looking forward to the ripples accross muy stocmach, I used to put the remote control on my stomach and watch it moving :)

My next scan is the 6th April, when I will be 21 weeks. There was talk of me having a scan every four weeks but I doubt I will. Once I get those definate kicks I am sure i wont need them - its just nice to go and see how the baby is getting bigger. 16+6 now :o

eve2005 · 05/03/2006 11:52

thats whats annoying me about my scans trix, would have liked to have known everything was ok in the earlier stages, now i can feel the baby i get constant reassurance that he's ok so i'm not as worried.

claire7676 · 05/03/2006 12:19

Still not felt any movemenent at all, by next week I was feeling movement with my first, really thought it would have happened by now. Trying not to worry, but its not always easy is it?!

olivo · 05/03/2006 12:58

I'm so Envy of all your kicks - I haven' felt anything! I'm only 15+3 so I know I shouldnt expect it yet but like everyone else, i'd love the reassurance. I keep feeling dizzy and someone at school said that can be when its moving but you cant actually feel it but I guess that's just an old wives tale. I do get some funny kind of niggles most evenings and had wondered f that was anything, but this being my first, i dont know what to expect!

Feeling really nauseaous today, threw up this morning and darent eat anything yet unless it comes back Grin

hope everyone else is feeling well

kitegirl · 05/03/2006 16:33

Nbg - probably because you are size 10 your baby is just a bit more visible in your tummy!

phew, family gone, lovely birthday for ds, he is playing with his train set so that mummy can loaf around on MN... good boy! Smile

Freddysays how lovely if you can come and join the yoga classes! it's a nice group of girls.
