my back is playin up too just had a nice hot soak in our bath has helped slightly also have you got a het pad or hot water bottle i find they work well is any one else been diagnosed with rhesus disease as me and the dh are - and + me being the _ kinda worried must admit im in nottingham and we've had no snow but loads of freezing sunshine

Nbg · 01/03/2006 20:54

Welcome PF2.
How lovely, expecting twins and great to hear that your feeling well Smile

Hope your day went well Lockets! Rather you than me Wink

Babylily, how crap for you. I'll think myself lucky when my back starts to hurt now. Do you have people to help out?

Well tonight we made our first adjustment at home, we changed dd's cot into the bed! Shock Grin
We had a couple of screams but she really likes it and was fast asleep at 8pm! I' glad we've done it now as I really want her settled for when the new baby comes.
Still had no kicks.
I can understand now why Tom Cruise bought a scanner, because Katy Holmes will have turned into a panic stricken mum to be!

Arabica · 01/03/2006 21:27

Hi everyone, v cold here in N London but no snow, unfortunately. Welcome PF2, and congratulations. How lovely to be expecting two! I'm totally soppy about twins at the moment, there were a pair of toddlers in our local park cafe on Saturday, they were so cute I nearly cried. Mum looked like she was coping really well.
I am doing really well on day 2 of no chocolate, not even one mini-egg. Someone asked me if I had given them up for lent. Well, yes, as much as an atheist secular Jew can give things up for lent! Have been rewarded by feeling lots more squirming about. NBG please don't worry. You're 2 wks behind me & it's early days for both of us to be feeling anything anyway.

Nbg · 02/03/2006 08:49

Morning all.
Feel totally pants today. Got a bit of headache which I can't seem to shift and just feel all tired and weak.
DD was up at 8am and decided to get out of bed. She's normally awake at 9:30/10am so maybe my body has gone into shock from the lack of sleep Grin

I think I'll get out in to the garden later this morning and see if a bit of fresh air helps. Other than that I'll be packing dd off to MIL's and I'm off back to bed!

I can't seem to win, I feel great and think that something is wrong, feel bad and I wish I felt great again, lol!

Has anyone seen Kitegirl knocking about? She hasn't been on for a while.

katylou25 · 02/03/2006 09:50

HI NBG

How old's your dd? We are going to move Ds into a bed before new baby but are not sure whether to do it now or later. We're also trying to move - but our buyer pulled out GRRRR! - so don't know if its better to leave it until we do (gotta be before august or else don't know what we're going to do!)

BigHotMama · 02/03/2006 09:55

Morning ladies, Hopw your all doing ok. NBG, I reckon you should get yourself back to bed if you got the chance as I seem to suffer headaches when I've not had enough sleep..as for backache Boopert, I recommend sleeping with pillow between your legs and if your wearing heels switch to lower heel as I suffer with bad back after standing for long periods with heels on, I bought myself first pair of lower heeled shoes yesterday, they will be a god send to me! I found it really hard to find a nice pair of shoes, I saw loads of gorgeous high heeled shoes...ggrrr! Also put your feet up as often as possible when your home, me and DH have got our own poof each. (phew!)
I'm hoping to take my normal mat leave around 2nd-3rd week of July, also saving 4 weeks holiday to add to my leave. Would love to take the additioinal mat leave but wonder if we could afford to do it and also worry about my job as got promoted 2 months before I got pg and could they possibly demote me if I take more than my norm mat leave? Not too sure yet?
Well done Arabica on the no-choc for 2 days, I've gone 4 days now and its really bugging me, I've taken to biting my nails so not good! Am going to treat myself at the weekend to some mini eggs you got me craving! Grin
(Sorry for long post!)

jayjaybaby -I'm rheusus negative and dh is positive - i was worried about it but have been offered the anti-d jabs at 28 and 36 (?) weeks and am going to have them - other than that, as far as I'm aware (and if anyone knows anything, please tell me!!) just to remember to go to hospital if you have a serious bump to your bump.

I've had a bit of sciatic pain, not real backache, but have taken to sleeping with one of those squishy 'cushies' - they're great. I've also had lots of headaches but I'm pretty sure they are dehydration for me, despite the bucket loads of water I've been drinking -I just feel thirsty all the time! hope you are feeling better nbg.

Nbg · 02/03/2006 11:03

Am feeling tons better now thanks!
I haven't been back to bed but I had some brekkie and a cuppa just about to get in the garden now!

Katylou, DD is 2.5. We didn't totaly convert it into the cot bed, just took one side off IYSWIM. She was really taken with it, even now I've just taken her up to get changed and she's giggling about it and looks well chuffed Grin
Tbh it wasn't a massive decision (for me anyway!) as she's always accepted any change really well, from things like the dummy, potty training/using the toilet, naps you name it. I think overall last night it took her 45 mins to settle down and I don't suspect there will be any probs tonight.
We are looking at the prospect of moving too as the part time job dh has, his boss has offered him full time hours but it's 60+ miles away so practically and finacially we would have to move.

I'l send Kitegirl a text see how she's doing.

purpleturtle · 02/03/2006 12:58

Hurray! Finally we have broadband again! Have just scanned recent posts. Exciting to see twins on the thread. Smile (Actually, very glad it's not me!)

BHM - we're also renting, and I was thinking of putting some stickarounds on the wall in the little bedroom that will be baby's. It's painted pale green already. We've used stickarounds before with no problems, so I'm confident they won't wreck the decor. It's also the easiest peasiest way to decorate. Grin

Nbg · 02/03/2006 13:03

I second the stick on things! We were in a rented house when I had dd. We gave the room a lick of paint and got some lovely flower stickers. Just put them around the door frame and window. They looked great.
I think we managed to get a matching border too.

BigHotMama · 02/03/2006 13:11

Thanx for the tip PT, I'll be on the look out now as we only have plain cream walls with plain cream carpet so will definately need brightening up me thinks! Where's best place to go get some?
Here's a question for the mom's on here, I'm getting a moses basket for the baby and have been told they outgrow them by about 6 weeks? Is this true? Also how long did you have your baby sleep in the same room as you? I've heard various from 4-10 weeks? (I'm so new to all this!)

trix1 · 02/03/2006 13:11

Hello all, just looking out the window and the snow is coming down thick and fast its lovely, only becuase im inside in the warmth.

I went for my 16 week scan this morning and everything is well although the baby hardly moved, from the little movements that ive felt they are all late in the evening :o

I took ds who is just turned 4 and he asked where the willy was and went on to say the baby better have a willy as he does not want a girl.

purpleturtle · 02/03/2006 13:17

I think we got our stickarounds in B&Q. Sure they'd be online somewhere, too.

Dd moved out of our room at 7 weeks, but our house was so tiny she was only 6 inches further away, the other side of the wall!

Ds stayed in with us a bit longer, because he didn't settle so well after night feeds, and because he was going into the same room as dd.

I think the 'powers that be' recommend they stay with you for 6 months. IME that depends on how well you all sleep in the same room!

OP posts:
Nbg · 02/03/2006 13:38

Yeah we got ours from B&Q too. There is a lovely site that do stick on things. If you start a thread I'm sure someone will know what it is. I think all they sell is kids decorating stuff, I think.

As for the sleeping thing, dd was in a carry cot that came as an accessory with our pushchair so virtually the same as a moses basket. She was in that till about 4/5 months, when she outgrew it. We kept it in the cotbed but this time we going to buy a stand for it as dd will still have the cotbed.
Before we got round to sorting things out she was 7 months before she was in on her own.

Trix, your ds is funny Grin Did you get a peek of a willy then? Grin

trix1 · 02/03/2006 13:43

No - I could not see a willy, the scan picture shows the baby sort of lying on his/her front so you cant see but 16 weeks is probably too early. I dont mind looking and guessing but I dont want it confirmed.

freddysays · 02/03/2006 14:13

Hey All, i havent been on for ages adn it took me for ever to catch up. Loved hearing about the twins to be!!!

Kiegirl, sorry i did not post back was v rubbish but was sorry to hear about your fainting. I also would love to hear what you thought of the YOGA session, i am registered with Crystal Palace Rd surgery so I am so local to you.

I will be in touch again.
TO everyone else, love hearing about your big bumps (and the little ones will soon be just as big too) mine is huge. Cant hide it anymore, but thankfully all the rest of me seems to be staying in check for now.

Take care all and stay well x

eve2005 · 02/03/2006 14:27

hyperventilating at the thought of twins! think i'll cry if they announce at my scan that there's 2 as i've been so smug a bout not really needing to buy anything this time round, not to mention that my dd is a bit of a handful, be taxing enough with one newborn, never mind 2. dp thinks it's great fun to joke about but i think he'd leave home if the scan did show 2!

talking about scans, went down to hospital and pleaded my case but didn't have much luck, receptionist was nice, but all she did was scribble a few words on a post-it and tell me the obstetrician would review my case... grrrr... that was on monday and do you think i've heard anything yet? Angry

thank god i'm feeling tonnes of movement or i'd have lost it by now.

sorry for the long post, always feel like i have to make up for lost time when i haven't been on in a while!

Arabica · 02/03/2006 15:05

Hi everyone. Re sleeping, we never bothered with a Moses basket. DS hated the idea of a cot in a separate room & it wasn't a big deal for us either. So he slept in the same room as us (and usually the same bed) for about 2 years, then moved into a proper bed in his own room when he felt ready (taking him to Ikea to buy a bed was the turning point). He spends the first part of the night in his room then usually climbs in with us. We have a v large bed so I don't care if he's still in bed with us when the baby comes!

trix1 · 02/03/2006 15:19

Our ds will do anything to get in the bed with us- hes four now and did not do this til he was about three. Strange, although we dont mind him coming in and cuddling up between us. How old are they when they dont want to get into the bed by mum and dad? Sureley he will grow out of this soon.

Sheona · 02/03/2006 15:54

Hey everyone I'm due my first baby on 13th August.
Had all my bloods done yesterday and was there for 2 hrs!.
First thing was my BP was up, so the midwife thought hearing baby's heart beat might help calm me down (didn't need calmed down, my BP was just high).
Then she could find the baby's heart beat so I had to have another ultrasound, baby was fine. Then couldn't get any blood out of my veins (I was beginning to think maybe I had none when the got it after 30 mins of trying).
Finally they let me go but not before making me very aware of the fact that high blood perssure has to be watched because of the risk of pre-eclampsia(don't know if that's spelt right).
So I'm now searching the web for info on afor mentioned problem.

Happy days!
