Morning Ladies, Hope your all well. Lol NBG and Olivo for still thinking you've made it all up! Sometimes I forget I'm pregnant and it still feels wierd telling people I am, dont think it will all seem real until we're getting full on kicks, karate chops and headbutts!!
Must admit I most feel pg in the mornings when I first get out of bed and have backache and feel like an OAP, and also during the night when I'm taking ages to roll over and my belly feels like its moved to the side? Am using one of those v shaped pillows for comfort and it works!

4 weeks today for my 20 week scan

freddysays · 23/02/2006 13:28

Good morning all!! Glad to hear your are all (most) feeling well.

I jsut had a thought, I have a 20wk scan booked I wanted the first appointment of the day so it was booked by last scanographer (made up word ). The thing is I will be at least 23 wks and nearing 24wk do you think this could be a problemo??

Speak soon

lunavix · 23/02/2006 14:07

Thanks for the advice, I'll call her today.

Freddysays, I have this worry. My scan was booked for when I was 20 weeks, and I couldn't have it - first week of easter hols, and I'm not dragging six kids with me - imagine if the news was bad. However instead of doing it the week before as I wanted, which makes me 19 + some, they're refusing till a few weeks later (I can't do one week later as still holidays)

So I don't get my scan till 23 weeks either, so as a friend pointed out if any problems are detected, I have a whopping 3 days to decide whether to have an abortion - AND have it. I know that's a long shot, but still. Not reassuring.

Strike1 · 23/02/2006 14:32

Hi all, Sorry I'm not around much I do lurk and make sure you all doing ok, I just don't always post. As you'r all at roughly the same stage as me I'm after some re assurance (sorry to just come barging back for help!) I posted on the main pg page but there is more going on today than my little worry so I thought I'd ask you lot. Have any of you gone from quite constipated ( should have warned TMI!) so going 2/3 times a day with tummy cramps and sore achyness around belly? I find it hard to describe but I've had it since getting up this morning and I am worried it could be something more sinister. It feels like normal stretching pains at the front but with stomach ache thrown in. I hope this makes some sense?

I promise to post more and help you guys out when you need it Oh I'm 14 weeks today.

Arabica · 23/02/2006 14:41

Strike1, I have had something similar, I'm prone to IBS & being pg makes it worse. Trapped wind causing nasty stomach pains and alternating between constipation and the runs (had to walk home from park VERY quickly a few weeks ago). You've not got any other symptoms like bleeding or cramping, have you?
Lunavix, I could be wrong but I don't think medically advised terminations are subject to the 24 week limit. If the timing of the scan is worrying you for any reason, I'd call and ask. We don't need extra stress in our condition!

olivo · 23/02/2006 14:57

Strike - i am the same as you, 14 wks today and I have been lurching from really bad constipation with horrible pains to diarrohea (sp?!). like Arabica, I suffer from IBS (but I have to say, constipation was a new one to me - seriously not nice!!) if i get pain, it tends to be low right side, ( and feels like you want to fart but can't - sorry !)
I would mention it next time you have an appt. hth x

freddysays · 23/02/2006 15:11

Lunavic and Stike1 that was my concern about the dates being to far gone to make a reasonable decision. Not that it would feel reasonable. You know I mean. I suppose if they want you to come later rather than earlier then it must mean they will see more the later you go, so I suppose we should relax and stay postive....

On teh bad cramps issue, I am really bad for constipation and it can be very painful so I woudl imagine this is what you have, I have cut down on wheat and the usual lots of water etc. ITs a bore but it helps. But please call your midwife if your worried. I was in the midwifes the other day and we were interupted so many times by worried pg mums and I couldnt help over hearign their complaints and they went from mild to worse and she was so cool with them and reassurign so dont feel like you will be wasting her tiem you wont be .....

kitegirl · 23/02/2006 15:33

hi guys,
strike like others have said I'm sure you are fine, pregnancy makes your body react to e.g. foods in funny ways so it's probably just a tummy upset but do call your midwife!

We get our 2nd scan at 24 weeks here at King's in glamorous SE5, mine will be 19th April. I am tempted to go get one privately as cannot wait that long.

hey Nbg at least you are TRYING to do it, here mr kitegirl is not having much luck as I prefer toast & jam in front of the telly and fall asleep at 9pm! poor man...

Nbg · 23/02/2006 16:04

Weeeell bak from the best midwife appt ever ever ever in the histories of appt's

Saw one of the other midwives on our area and she is soooo lovely. I wanted to cuddle her and say please be my midwife when I have my baby!

Only got one lot of bloods back whih was my iron and it was 13. She said that was really good so I'm pleased about that (must be all the watercress and rocket salad I've been eating)
She said my uterus is level with my belly button and I'm growing really well and picked up babys heartbeat straight away. It was really clear and loud so I'm chilled out again now

I told her about my sciatic pain and she immeadiatly said she would refer me herself. At that she got on the phone and made me an appt there and then So I go to physiotherapy on the 8th March!
Good or what!

It's so different from last time round. I had to get my GP to refer me, wait for them to send a letter and then wait a lifetime for an appt!

Only bad thing is that my next apt isn't for another 9 weeks when I'll be 24 weeks but having said that I'm not having any problems so I suppose it's not that bad and I've got my 20 week scan to look forward to inbetween

Loads happier now, if you hadn't noticed

freddysays · 23/02/2006 16:43

Hey thats re-assuring Kitegirl....I am also at Kings, hailing from the twee SE22 x x

Strike1 · 23/02/2006 16:52

Thanks for the re assurance, it's good to know I'm not alone in running quickly to the loo! Hopefully it'll fade off tonight.

Good news about you MW appointment NBG I've got one on Saturday and I'll be mentioning the pain I'm having today and I hope she's nice and doesn't fob me off. I'm quite worried as I've been told some of the mw can be very dismissive of worried mums.

BigHotMama · 23/02/2006 16:53

Fantastic news NBG!

kitegirl · 23/02/2006 16:56

oh how exciting freddysays! another East Dulwich resident, we must be almost neighbours! my midwives work from the Forest Hill Road surgery and they are lovely, where are you booked? A lot of my friends have had babies at King's and have only said good things about it. I'm starting pg yoga tomorrow, it's on top of Soup Dragon on Lordship Lane, really looking forward to it!

Nbg how wonderful, you sound really happy, send some of those vibes down south will you! really glad you had a good m/w appointment, maybe now you can start believing that you are actually pregnant...

aprilgirl · 23/02/2006 17:12

great news nbg glad it went well!! i was at midwife on tuesday and my blood pressure is really low, feel real faint and dizzy but apparently thats normal??? midwife didnt feel bump or listen to heart beat which i was disappointed at!! but she did say that my boobs were coming on mighty fine!!! is anyone else going o those paret craft classes? she wants me to sign up as an 'older mum' ( older being 26 )

aprilgirl · 23/02/2006 17:15

sorry typo there i meant parent craft lesson... dunno what it is but apperently they have really low attendance from my clinic and she was practically begging me to go... lol at being a older mum though !!

Act · 23/02/2006 17:51

older mum at 26! where does that leave the rest of us!!
the hosp i'm going to has a 'Preparation for Parenthood' course that I want to go to (this is my first preg btw). There is also a 'Young Parents Group'. Aprilg perhaps she just meant you didn't need to go to one like that with the teenagers? How different are those classes likely to be anyway? Do they patronise the young mums more do you think?
I just googled for the average age for first babies and aparently it is 29 (for the mums, older for dads) - exactly my age. I guess I am average then!

Arabica · 23/02/2006 17:58

Crikey if you are an older mum at 26.....I'm nearly 20 years older than you fgs!!!
Glad to hear about the lovely midwife, NBG. We should all have such good midwife experiences...
I do think there is too long a gap between appts. I got made a big fuss of until my 12 wk scan (due to previous m/c and my age) and since left to my own devices until 20wk scan comes around--a 16 wk appt would have alleviated my anxiety somewhat. I never felt so desperately anxoius that I needed to ring them but have been sorely tempted at times to ask for them to find me a heartbeat.

Arabica · 23/02/2006 18:00

kitegirl, hope you enjoy your yoga class, I'm really getting a lot from mine--didn't expect to be enjoying it so much!

Boopert · 23/02/2006 20:49

Well i must say, i think my consultant must really care about his patients. It was his idea to put me on weekly scans, moved them to every two weeks. This lasted for a week and has now put me on weekly appts to put my mind at rest!!!! AND he is so overbooked i know of three others that were turned away from the hosp, normal story, too many pg women, not enough MW. Maybe they should ban people in West London from getting pg. LOL
Well my little (Melman, named after Giraffe from Madagascar! Ds idea....) is a real evening/night time mover! Why they can't wake up in the morning i don't know!!!!
Oh, and i'm glad i'm not the only one with IBS and constipation!!!!

Nbg · 24/02/2006 09:41

Omg Aprilgirl. PMSL at "older mum"

The parent craft classes I went to were ok. I think dh benefited from them more tbh. I suppose it confirmed for me what pain relief I was having and clued me up a bit more on BF.

I did find it amusing watching the other dads faces when watching the birth video. Lot's of cringing and screwed up faces

Arabica, I think just getting to listen to the heartbeat makes everything ok again doesn't it? I felt so relieved yesterday and even more so when she commented on how I was growing.

Strike1, If the midwives are dismissive, just keep perservering with them and nag, nag, nag if you need to. If there is one thing you need when your pregnant it's peace of mind.

Kitegirl, that place your doing Yogo sounds like it's from a kids book or something. Soup Dragon, Lordship Lane

Boopert, lucky you with the scans. It must be lovely to see your baby every week

BigHotMama · 24/02/2006 10:02

Morning everyone, thank god its Friday!
I felt small movement in bed last night then when i put my hand on my belly it stops!?? Argggh!
We're booked in for parent classes as its our 1st time, doing 3 evening classes. I think I'll be the one cringeing at the video clips, not very good at watching anything that involves pain and blood, Lord help me when I go into labour!
Well, today I'm feeling total crap as last night I got really emotional and upset at my DH for waking me up for snoring twice, I lost it and stormed out the bedroom sobbing uncontrollably! He thinks my breathing is heavier and says I shouldnt be snoring when sleeping on my side?? OMG I was a bit of a mess! Eventually I did go back to bed but it took me ages to drift off to sleep, kept holding my breath as scared to start snoring again...is anybody else having this problem as its doing my head in, feel totally shattered today!
Winge over x

trix1 · 24/02/2006 10:15

Good morning all, I am delighted to say that I can definetly feel movements now, i had my hand on my tummy for hours last night whilst watching TV and could feel lots of movement

Im 15+4 now, its starting to feel oh so real

Boopert - gret news on the weekly/fortnightly scans - I too got weekly scans up to 12 weeks - got my next one next week, im wondering if they will be able to tell the sex. Although we have decided not to ask.

Nbg · 24/02/2006 10:19

Awwww you lucky thing Trix.

Am so

Arabica · 24/02/2006 11:40

I'm feeling movement quite frequently now and I feel so much happier. At times I stillwonder if it's really a baby in there or am I imagining it?
DH and I will need to sell our tiny flat to make room for the new arrival. We don't want to live in a building site with a tiny baby so have to organise new roof, new kitchen, new bathroom, new central heating, 3 new windows, new carpet and a paint job inside and out, all in the next 3 months or so. Anyone got any valium?

jayjaybaby · 24/02/2006 12:46
