my legs particulary my shins are itchy have scratched toomuch to thought itmigth because of hair growing tho am abit clueless generallt to the whole being pg thing

Arabica · 21/02/2006 21:30

I am v itchy too, using diprobase which I am prescribed anyway cos I get occasional eczema. Mojomummy, I've been in pg clothes for about 4 weeks! Am 17wks tomorrow.
I am going to sound a bit silly here, but I don't really know what Braxton Hicks feel like--are they like mini-labour pains? Cos I never had them with DS. Have noticed bump going tight occasionally but no pains, could that be BH?

Arabica · 21/02/2006 21:33

Sorry Bupert, forgot to say hello! Welcome to the August thread. I'm due on 2nd.

jayjaybaby · 21/02/2006 21:37

does any one know what early movements feel like is 14 wks too early im slightly worried

snic · 21/02/2006 21:40

14 weeks is early especially if its your first. 18-20 weeks is normal. i remember first movements with dd feeling like butterflies in my belly, dont worry you will feel them soon.

claire7676 · 21/02/2006 22:20

Hello Bupert! Welcome. My shins are really itchy too!! Strange huh. Seem to remember braxton hicks feeling like a tightening and bump going hard. Felt moving at 18 wks first time I think, felt exactly like a butterfly in my belly! Nothing yet though, hoping I'll feel something soon. Saw consultant today (high risk preggie again) and she had a go at the heart beat but couldn't find it and yes, I know 14 wks is early and there is no reason at all to worry, but I wish now she hadn't tried!!!

BigHotMama · 22/02/2006 09:33

Morning ladies, I have been feeling plenty of fluttery feelings so I often put on my hand in various positions on my belly but cant feel any proper movement yet, so am just wishing the days away until I feel a good kick. Slightly going off topic of human pg, I went to my parents house last night and they have 2 gorgeous Weimaraner dogs who are about to become a mom and dad this weekend, I placed my hand against her lumpy looking belly and felt lots of kicking from her little pups, I'm so excited to see her give birth, she has at least 6 puppies inside as she had a scan few weeks ago.

Welcome & congrats Boopert!

Am thinking of starting Slimming world myself too JayJay as my Dh has been doing it since January and I could do with watching my weight (wont tell you how much I weigh ...

My MW took ages to find babys HB when I was 14 weeks and when she did find it she would quickly lose it and you cant help but worry.

Mojo I'm having the total opposite problem to you in the bowel area so maybe I'm having too much fruit and OJ, anybody else experiencing diarhhoea? (sorry to be so graphic so early in the day!)

Sorry for the long post, making up for yesterday!

Hi Boopert welcome to Mn , youll never leave , been here since Oct 2003 !How olds ds ?

Had my scan booking in yesterday AT LAST, what a faff though, drank me 2 pints ish got there and they hadnt booked my scan, so the booking in midwife gave me a mini scan, dated me as 16 wks today, then let me go loo. Did all my history and made me drink another 4 glasses to start all over again with the sonographer next door !!! I now have to see a consultant every month throughout my pregnancy due to my "Obstretic(sp?)history" and my EDD hasnt changed , not sure why. So not sure what dates to follow now , I liked thinking I was a bit further on even if its only 2 days! Oh and Ive my next scan in about 4 weeks! She also thinks I may be anemic due to the colour round my eyes, so will wait 48hrs for results.

sorry for rambling on , just fed up staying at home with not much to do except rest.

melsy · 22/02/2006 09:52

morning bhm , must have posted same time, didnt see you there.

go easy on the OJ !! you may be need some more ruffage; bananas & ryvita may be to bind you.

BigHotMama · 22/02/2006 10:08

Ooops! Must've clicked twice sorry!

Hiya Melsy, thanx for yout tips! Just eating a banana as I type! Crikey sounds like you had to drink loads of water then, I'd have probably wet myself, did you get to see the babay on your mini scan? Hope your results come back ok. I'm waiting to hear about my blood tests and because I've not heard anything in over 2 weeks I'm hoping everythings ok!

melsy · 22/02/2006 10:14

eat those bananas girly !!!

yer saw bubba , its making me get all emotional, it was moving around loads and kept putting its hand to its mouth. We were sooooooo wanting to know what it was but theres signs everywere saying please do not ask for sex !!We SWEAR we saw a little willy though !!!!

melsy · 22/02/2006 10:16

oh and yer I was soooo going to wet myself quite a few times!!! I must have had 4 pints in the end yesterday ! I cant stop going !

BigHotMama · 22/02/2006 10:33

Ah sounds fab, my DH got so emotional when we had our first scan, we saw our little bean kicking its legs and rolling over to face us. Roll on 20 weeks! I've now got feelings that I'm having a boy...

katylou25 · 22/02/2006 12:06

Hi everyone this thread takes me ages to read each time as only get on here efvery couple of days. I am convinced I'm having a girl this time as pregnancy so different to with DS and have even began eyeing up the cute summere dresses in all the shop! Am going to find out at 20 weeks - I know it sounds awful but will need a few weeks to get my head round the idea of 2 boys 17 months apart if thats the case! have also been feeling the first fluttery movements although with DS didn't feel them till 17/18 weeks at first I wasn't sure but have been building in frequency, strength over past few days.

Anyone had any more thoughts on double buggies - everyone I speak to doesn't like theirs for one reason or another - and don't want to make the same mistake as my friend who is now on her 3rd for varoius reasons!!

purpleturtle · 22/02/2006 12:07

Finally back from scan. Had to take ds with us, and he was pretty bored after a couple of hours!

Amazingly, I retain the original due date of 13/08, so I'm certain it'll be a bank holiday weekend babe.

claire7676 · 22/02/2006 12:22

Katylou, we've gone for a casatto duet lite. (We've got it already so a friend of mine can take my dd out with hers sometimes to give me a rest when I'm huge!!) FWIW, we discounted a twin as too wide for shops / tube / trains etc. I wanted an umbrella fold and as light as I could get. I didn't like the fact that in tandems, often the one at the back can't see. With the one we chose, the back seat is slightly higher, and the rain hood is see through so when the y
ounger one is sitting up, they can see. (I wll have an 18mth gap)

lunavix · 22/02/2006 13:01

welcome bupert

Does anyone have any advise re: sex during pregnancy? With ds I was told not to have it till 16 weeks, this time until 12 weeks. But (sorry if TMI!) every time we 'do' (which isn't often atm!) I bleed....

BigHotMama · 22/02/2006 13:43

I thought sex was 100% safe during pregnancy from start to finish? I havent been told not have sex until a certain week? Mind you dont get it often these days, at first it was me scared of hurting the baby, but now my DH has lost his sex drive? Lunavix did you bleed doing it with your 1st pg? Its probably nothing to worry about but if it was me I'd want it checked out.

PurpleT how was your scan then?

Boopert · 22/02/2006 14:56

Thanx for the kind welcome!
Well my ds turned 3 in Nov, my due date is 4th Aug and this is my third pg. They've got me down for weekly scans as had miscarriage 18mths ago. Kinda expected it to happen so this time they've stitched baby in!! Hopefully all will go well, think its a girl this time, HUGE belly, in Mat clothes for the last few weeks and boobs to die for! Sods law you only get them whilst preg and feeding, when you start feeling sexy again they vanish!! Bugger. And Braxton Hicks on a regular basis.
Asked consultant if normal, all ok. ANd the good thing is i see baby every week!! Look on the bright side of everything i reckon.
(Oh, has anyone managed to wet themselves yet? Or is that just me?

melsy · 22/02/2006 15:04

Aww boopert sorry about m/c, I know how that feels. Glad all is goig ok this time. I wondered about BHixs , as Ive been getting hard tummy quite often , cant remeber when these things happened with dd.

Lunavix have you spoken to mw about the bleeding? Are you ok apart from that? I must say I get low abdominal cramp/pain after and the bubs goes a bit fluttery mad after !!! Get a little worried about the cramp pain. Its the one thing I fogot to mention in my mammoth 2hr appt yesterday.

trix1 · 23/02/2006 07:27

Good Morning - Welcome to the new ladies, there is a pregnant after miscarriage thread which I found to be very supportive (as is this one)

I went to the midwife yesterday who was able to get the heartbeat straight away which was very reassuring, im starting to feel the little flickers more regular now.

Hope you are all well, Im going to pop into town to get some maternity clothes this morning.

Nbg · 23/02/2006 10:05

Hi everyone.

I get more and more jealous everytime I come on here.
I still don't think I've felt anything and now your on about Braxton Hicks!
Although we took dd to see Chicken Little at the cinema yesterday. You know how loud it can be and I thought I felt something but again not 100% sure. I loved getting those kicks where you could see their foot sticking out of your belly!

I wonder if I'm making all this being pregnant up!
I've got my midwife appt today at 2pm so I'll see if I feel anything after she's had a good prod about.
I am wondering if there is alot of fluid in there though cos my bump is the size of a football, no joke!
Needless to say I am in full maternity clothes.

Luna, about the sex thing. I think you should have a word with the midwife. I know they say if you've mc in the past to be a bit more careful i.e. by waiting till 12 weeks but I have read a really simple explanation for it somewhere. FWIW without giving TMI when dh and I did it the other night it really hurt and we had to stop. Don't know why but it wasn't nice.
I'll mention it today.

Lovely to hear your scans are ok!

Hi everyone! has taken me ages to read the thread since i was last around - really to hear about movements etc - i'm 14 wks today and like some of you, still wonder whether I've made it all up! Then I fell sick all over again........ its much better but hasnt gone completely!

Seem to be huge, everyone at work has either guessed or heard it through the grapevine, but am trying to hang on a while before the kids find out! Really struggling with clothes but am hoping to pick up some Next stuff today which i had to order in.

welcome to the newcomers
