My mum can't do anything! SHe can't move, because you can't use crutches with one arm LOL, and if she wants to stand, she has to prop herself up with the unplastered hand, which she then can't use to do anything else! She washed herself this morning sitting on a towel on the floor in the lounge!

Just as well they don't have stairs to negotiate as well!

Hi everyone, hope everyone ok? and all sickness has gone

I am starting to feel pregnant now, and manage to hear HB with the doppler i bought everytime i listen, and can pick it up pretty much straight away

I am DYING to find out the sex, and cannot wait till 20 week scan, is anyone else gonna found out?

xx

pucca · 19/02/2006 21:44

I meant find out lol.

BabiesEverywhere · 20/02/2006 08:56

So there are pretty regular meet-ups, usually at Spa 1877 on West St.

Sounds great, let me know when you next have a meet-up.

melsy · 20/02/2006 09:29

Hello all

Lots of you feeling bloomy and glowy ? Fab that you can feel movement , I was wondering if its serious gas or movement !!

Not sure when my blooming bits gonna happen.I empty the dishwasher and feel Ive done a marathon. Im stuck at home , as the thought of walking up and down my hill with buggy makes my heart beat to fast and driving is still a no no !!! IM so fed up of being stuck at home , Ive been in pj's most of the weekend, except to trip to local shopping area on sat , where I nearly passed out , aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhh.

Seems I may have anemia to boot , as that could be whats contributing to most of my problems , but need to get a blood test at my scan and booking in tommorow , YES I HAVE A SCAN & 1st MIDWIFE APPT!!!! at last. Better late than never hey , Im only 16 weeks at the end of week , (or middle if Ive got my dates wrong) !!

oooh Kitegirl would love to chat with you if cat me. Thank you for the compliment.

melsy · 20/02/2006 09:30

oh and yes Pucca , I would love to find out sex this time. Unfortunately they dont tell at my local hospitals. just sometimes unofficialy.

BigHotMama · 20/02/2006 09:41

Morning ladies, hope everyone is feeling well. I'm feeling great at the moment (and thats good for a Monday!).
I'm so envious that you've felt a kick Arabica, that must have been wonderful. I'm still only getting fluttery feelings at mo and am 16 weeks today so still early for me as I'm a 1st timer.
PurpleT, nice to have you back! Hope your mom gets better soon. Now, about your waterbirth, tell me everything you can, I'd really like to know things like the length of your labour, how long were you in the pool for and probably sounds daft but how did it feel, as I've heard it eases the pain a little?? I've enquired at the hospital about the birthing pools as I'd really like waterbirth, its basically first come first served and they only have the one pool.
Snic, how quick was your labour then I'm curious

purpleturtle · 20/02/2006 10:01

OK: first baby, laboured for 8 hours at home before going in to hospital, where midwife recommended the pool as it was free. by that time I'd have agreed to anything, so I continued to sit on a birthing ball for a few hours until I was the magic 5cm dilated at which point they allowed me in the pool. It was lovely. So nice to be able to float about a bit (was on G&A by this point, so floating in another sense too).

Progressed very quickly once in pool. Baby was actually born within a couple of hours. When she crowned the waters were still intact, so MW broke them and due to presence of meconium I had to haul myself out of the pool to deliver - within 2 pushes. So, about 15 hours start to finish, G&A only pain relief.

After such a positive experience I booked a pool at home for ds. Went into labour early morning - 6.30ish. Pool was a bugger to fill because boiler packed up, so we borrowed an urn from church and dh spent the morning boiling water while I sat on birthing ball. Eventually water deemed ready, so I got in, and was ready to push straight away, so ds was born within about 10 minutes. Came up lovely and clean. I wallowed in the hot water for as long as the MW would let me . Labour 6 hours start to finish. No pain relief.

Have my home waterbirth booked for August.

There are several threads on this if you look. Sorry for the long post everyone else!

BigHotMama · 20/02/2006 10:28

Thanks PurpleT, sounds like you had 2 perfect labours, wow no pain relief on the 2nd aswell, I'm hoping to be able to get away with just G&A but cant realy say until I'm there. Am on the lookout for waterbirth threads now.

I had a dream last night that we had our 20 wk scan and they told us we having a boy,(even though we never asked about the sex) and I'm almost certain now that I'll have a boy! Anybody else had a dream about the sex?

Also my DH is complaining that my breathing has become really heavy at night? So he now has to contend with my snoring and heavy breathing poor DH.

jayjaybaby · 20/02/2006 10:50

morning ladies am confined to front room as dh is ripping down the stairs and landing ceiling which is over 50 years old so i'm locked in front room out of the way bless he seems insistentthe house be perfect for baby re mw appts i went at 61/2 wks and for a scan at 8/6 wks as they thought i migth be further along then im at mw at 16 wk and at hospital at 20 wks then i dont know. must say i was worried about having 10 weeks between mw appts

Nbg · 20/02/2006 12:46

PurpleTurtle, I have to say you have swayed me a little to a water birth with that story.

I can honestly say I've never really had the urge or understood the fascination with them but I'm going for no pain relief with this birth so that sounds like a good option.

I'll have a little chat with the midwife on it and make sure the unit have one.

Pucca, I'm finding out the sex. Dh said if wasn't for me wanting to find out he would like the suprise. I'm too impatient not to find out though
I'm convinced it's a boy, purely because this pg is so different but I could be wrong.

Roll on 20 weeks

eve2005 · 20/02/2006 12:49

hello all, there's loads of new people since i was last on and i'm still the only one with no due date! too tired to go to the hospital and fight with some 90 year old mid wife about it who'll just tell me how over worked they are and refuse to move the scan forward.

felt my first baby move at 14 weeks and have been feeling this one for a few weeks, partner can feel it too which is nice, proves i'm not mad and imagining it. its been getting much stronger the last week or so, gone from being a faint fluttering to a little tapping sensation. Quite low down though so i don't think there any chance of me being much more than 15 weeks or there abouts

She gorgeous Lockets They do lovely photos at Venture.
I wish we could afford a session there.

Will be definatly having the G&A, so not exactly pain free. I had a Tens machine last time which was really good but if I opt for water theres no point in hiring one.

Eve, I don't know how you are coping not having an appt or scan. I'd be doing my nut (as we say here )

purpleturtle · 20/02/2006 12:57

I wouldn't have had a waterbirth first time round if it weren't for the midwife. I had written them off as gimicky - along with the birthing ball tbh!

Won't contemplate anything else now.

would love to have a water birth but my hospital doesn't do them and my last labour was a bit hairy so i'll want to be close to doctors and medical equipment for the birth.

went drug free last time and coped well but my daughter had a prolapsed cord around her shoulder and her heart rate dropped to almost nothing at 7cm and by 8.5cm the midwife had me pushing to get her out as quick as possible. she was fine in the end but i'd be terrified if something similar happened at home and there wasn't a doctor nearby.

i think the best thing is too stay at home for as long as possible having lots of warm showers and taking your mind off the contractions as much as possible and then head in at the last minute for the actual birth. went in at 1am last time to be told i was .5cm dilated so fucked off home til 12 the next day and had dd at 2.53. midwifes were convinced that was how i managed to go drug freee and i have to agree!

sorry for long post, in a babbling mood today!!!

lol, lucky you! you should fly through this time. when i went in the next day i was only 3cm so the midwife felt sorry for me and broke my waters, that got things moving!

BigHotMama · 20/02/2006 13:19

Lockets, what a beautiful baby! Never heard of Venture, have they got a website?
I'm determined not to find out the sex but listening to you lot on here really makes me want to...!
Eve, I really feel for you not having your app/edd but at least your feeling plenty of movement already. When is your scan?

trix1 · 20/02/2006 13:22

Lockets - she is gorgeus. Eve, when is your scan booked for? you might find you are even further on - you might be a July mum.

Yesterday I felt nothing and today again nothing so im getting worried again after having thought I could feel quite strong flutters on saturday. Oh dear this is one constant worry for me - I cant wait to have proper kicks and then I will be able to relax. Im still taking the progesterone but will be coming off that on the 2nd March when I will be 16 weeks. Is anyone else taking progesterone?

Eve sounds like your hospital are as good as mine , Im 16weeks this week and have 1st scan and appt. Do you not have a scan date yet? I just kept pesturing the ante natal admin dept every week. The women knew me by voice !!

oh I feel ruff today , yes trying for sympathy !

eve2005 · 20/02/2006 13:32

yeah, got a letter last week announcing it's on 29 march. argh! doctor told me to go talk to them but not to hold out much hope as they're understaffed and thats probably the best they can do. at least it's not my first or i'd be a nervous wreck!
