The cheek!
You can tell him from me the belly should definitely be soft and squishy!

errr...shouldn't it?

BigHotMama · 16/02/2006 11:38

I hope so too, mind you when I first wake up it feels heavy and harder but that could be something to do with my full bladder needing to be emptied!
I got him back though! While he was brushing his teeth this morning, I crept up behind him and felt his spare tyre then he quickly breathed in and I couldnt stop laughing!
My mom told me lately she keeps feeling sick in the mornings and wonders if it could be related to me being PG? Not sure if this could happen though...something psychic going on maybe?!?

Act · 16/02/2006 12:01

Ha ha! Glad you got him back!
I have the harder in the morning thing too & wondered if it was pee-related..hmm
My mum warned my DH not to get 'sympathetic pregnancy' as she reckoned my dad did and put on weight as a result!
Are you American BTW? Just noticed your spelling of mom...I'm curious as my DH is. (He's from Chicago, I'm from London and we live in Manchester)

BigHotMama · 16/02/2006 12:20

Act, your not too far away from me then, I'm from a place called Tipton in the West Midlands (half hr from Birmingham), we talk with a funny accent and get called 'Yam Yam's'! (Dont ask!) My DH is doing slimming world (he is determined to be a slimline daddy) and has lost over 1 stone in 4 weeks so I think he just likes to poke bit of fun at me especially when he saw me eating a guilt-free homemade sticky toffee pudding with double cream last night ....oh what bliss to be pregnant!

Act · 16/02/2006 12:35

So you're not a yank then BHM?
I have a bit of a soft spot for the yam-yams as have a good friend from uni who's from Dudley...don't like being called 'wench' tho. Do you get that?
My DH is also trying to lose weight - not too sure how sucessful he's been given how often he joins me in having dessert! He also said he was going to give up booze in sympathy with me but that lasted about 5 mins!

BigHotMama · 16/02/2006 12:58

No I'm not American, never even been to America..would love to though, my Dh wants to emigrate there.
I get called a 'wench' and the boys are called 'chaps' hah! Dudley is next door to Tipton, about 5 mins away.
DH wouldnt even have a spoonful of my pud last night, but he's partial to several pints of Stella at the weekend and I hate the smell of alcohol on his breathe (am only jealous!).

freddysays · 16/02/2006 13:06

yeah defo watch out for your mens wasit lines...watch them grow with yours. Its hilarious. It happend with my dp last adn I watched a mate of mine get a right belly on him when his girlfriend was pregnant. It all drops off after though..

My dp also had a BF diet he says he likes "supporting me" YEAH right, so he ate extra calroires drank lots of hot choco etc. He is just a greddy git.

He doesnt apply this supportive logic to the pub though and has really annoyingly taken to having a fag if out with smokers...he claims to have given up years ago, really petty but really annoying. He nevers smokes at home or work though

Coriander73 · 16/02/2006 14:16

xxx Hijack from Sep 06 thread xxxx

Rubles & Pucca...how are you both getting on?

BigHotMama · 16/02/2006 14:31

Freddy it looks like its gonna be the opposite with me and my DH as he is planning to slim down by 4 stone and i'll be passing him on the way up ha ha! I've put on 5 pound so far, mind you I have been stuffing myself with choc, crisps and sweets, cakes etc, just cant seem to stop snacking at work! Am eating loads of fruit too so surely that cancels it out te he!
Since I've been PG I quit smoking (although was onyl a social smoker when out with friends) and now I cant stand the smell of it or if anybody smokes near me, I have to move! Must be awful if you can smell it on his breathe? Luckily my DH hates smoking and has never had a drag in his life, but he makes up for it with Stella! (wink)

Arabica · 16/02/2006 15:40

Hello everyone! Am feeling v energetic today but have slept awkwardly and have a nasty pain in the neck and can't move head to the left--so mo biking, jogging or gym for me! Meanwhile DH took DS out somewhere in the car this morning and he (DS, not DH) puked all over the car seat!
On the slimming front, I have lost 2lbs, yeehaaaa! Still not feeling baby moving around for definite, but have odd sort of tugging and tight feelings.

BigHotMama · 16/02/2006 16:03

Well done on your weight-loss Arabica, can you tell us your secret?

freddysays · 16/02/2006 16:17

Yeah, tips on weight loss woudl be great Arabica, well to be honest I am gonna give up on that idea its a futile one for me. I have also put on 5 maybe 6lb BigHMAMA and I havent even been eating chocolate. SO I feel gutted now as I would love nothing more than to eat cake all day long. Believe me though I do eat, have to otherwise I am knackered all day. Turns out my iron is bit low, I have some tablets now so hope they work. Actually while I type, maybe my restraint on chocolate has been to my detriment ARGHHHHHH

Anyway, no chance of me loosing weight. And to be honest i not trying to either. I am actually a slim woman , but when pregnant its a totally different story, I look five months when four and so on. Been there done that heard all the really unhelpful comments like ARENT YOU BIG IS IT TWINS?...

Will someone give me tips on how to keep my cool and not bite peoples head off or take it to heart.

I hate being touchy about my body its so silly.

trix1 · 16/02/2006 17:26

Coriander - Unfortunetely Rubles miscarried in January, you might find her on the miscarriage threads.

Ive been asleep on the sofa all afternoon and have woken with a sore neck too. I love it when people say that Im big and am i having twins (weirdo that I am) Im naturally quite small but when Im pregnant my bump is soooo big too. Some one asked me this morning in the shops when I was due - I was so chuffed.

pucca · 16/02/2006 21:36

Cori...I am fine thankyou for asking

Hope you ok? and hope you not feeling too sick?

xxx

Arabica · 17/02/2006 01:11

My weight loss tip is...join Slimming World! I put on 5st with DS and have already gained 1st, so joining SW is hopefully a way of keeping it in check. The eating plan is very sensible & safe for use in pregnancy.

BigHotMama · 17/02/2006 09:25

Morning ladies, hope your all feeling well. Its a gorgeous sunny day where I am and its the weekend so am feeling fab!
Arabica, I lost 2 stone with Slimming World few years ago for my wedding and my DH lost 3 stone, its a really good diet because you cant fill up on your free foods and dont feel too hungry. At the moment I've gone off fish and meat for some mad reason? So I could only cope with doing green days, my mom joined a club last week so may join in few weeks if I'm still out of control with the choc and crisps. Is the plan still the same or are you allowed any extra sins or H/Extras?

Freddy try not to worry about your changing body, your slim so what you stressing for? Pregnancy is the most natural thing to happen to our bodies so I'm just going with the flow and trying not to think too much into it, I smile to myself too Trix when people say things like 'when are you due' or 'your looking swell' Try being me, I'm actually classed as 'clinically obese'. hence my nickname!

trix1 · 17/02/2006 11:14

Morning all - what a fab day, I did nothing yesterday just slept all afternoon and then had an early night so today I am full of energy so going to get of the computer and get the house work done.

How are you all?

kitegirl · 17/02/2006 11:35

christ you sound cheerful trix... it's the sleep, isn't it. I fell asleep on the sofa watching the Brits, just managed to see Prince before passing out. He was so awesome!

Had my first midwife appointment, in the comfort of my own home, excellent! She was lovely (also a snowboarder Nbg!). They are sooooo evangelical about VBACs though and it is assumed that I want one (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean for you first timers!), which at the moment I don't. No interest, I'd have to be hooked up to monitors and because of being on anticoagulants I won't be able to have an epidural within 12 hours of my last injection... (daily) so how's that for choice. It's likely that the baby will make the decision for me by refusing to turn. My last pregnancy was managed by these pro-homebirth hippies who because their male-consultant-hating anti-interventionist stance put me at risk, so I'm not doing that again...oops, that came out a bit strong didn't it... I need the sleep that trix had

Arabica · 17/02/2006 12:12

I'm not keen on a VBAC eithernot after last time (24hrs of excruciating labour with an emergency op at the end). However I think I'll just be grateful to have got that farI still feel v anxious about the viability of the pregnancy, am desperate to feel the baby moving, not just weird tight feelings.

aprilgirl · 17/02/2006 12:23

hiya how you all doing everyone sound as though they are doing just fine!! i feel good now all full of energy and completly awake ( for once in 14 weeks ) im suffering itchy boob syndrome too, and itchy legs, ive been scratching my legs with the rough side of a sponge and got them in a right state but oooo it feels so good n once you start you just cant stop any one else got itchy legs too???? today is the 1st ive got my maternity trousers on just seem to have had a growing spurt over the last couple of weeks and normal trousers just dont do up any more!! you all going down that road with me too i feel HUGE xX

aprilgirl · 17/02/2006 12:24

jayjaybaby · 17/02/2006 13:05

hi every1 when i joined slimming world last year to lose weight for my wedding one woman lost 3 1/2 stone whilst she was pregnant and then when they weighen her after her 6 wk check she'd lost another 2 stone so it does work and my leader was a nurse so it must be good for as

BigHotMama · 17/02/2006 14:30

That truly amazing, losing 3 stone whilst pg! I've just bought the Slim World mag to give me inspiration.
I felt fluttery feelings again earlier so put my hand on belly then it stopped, it was like a pulsating on the lower left part of my belly..I can't wait to feel a kick.

15+5

Coriander73 · 17/02/2006 14:38

Trix, thanks for letting me know. I'll try & find her. Am ever so sad to hear that.

Pucca, hanging in there with the sickness! Got scan on the 28th. Stay well!

olivo · 17/02/2006 16:22

Hi everyone! I feel a bit of a fraud as I've been eating lots of crisps and cheese and havent put on any weight yet - no doubt my time will come, particularly when I finally get ruid of this sickness. It's gone right down to just half an hour of nausea in the mornings and an hour or so with a throw-up ( sorry TMI!!) in the evening!
off to Madrid tomorrow with dh for a few days of being a tourist - kind of can't wait but too tired at the moment to pack anything etc!!
hope everyone has a good weekend
