Morning all, Arabica thats wonderful news I'm so excited for you, I thought I felt a flutter pulse-like feeling 2 days ago but then thought to myself -it cant be- its my first baby and I heard its about around 20 weeks - Can any of you moms remember when you first feel movement with your first? I can't wait!

Lunavix, will you find out the sex with your 4d scan? Is it possible to have the scan and not find out the sex?

14+5

Arabica · 10/02/2006 09:47

With DS it was around the time of my 20-week scan. I was at work, doing my usual staring into space instead of concentrating thing, when I first definitely felt it. It depends on various factors like abdominal fat, the position of the placenta, and how busy you are (if you're very active and rushing about you might not have time to notice). But having said that my friend down the road who is really slim said she didn't feel anything at all with her DS until she was 22 wks.

Nbg · 10/02/2006 11:44

You've got me all excited now Arabica. I can't wait to feel a movement again.

I think I started to feel movements around 18 weeks with dd. I am quite slim but not sure if that made a difference. I used to put headphones that were attached to my walkman on my bump and play music to it and dd would always kick at that.
I remember by the time I had my 20 week scan I was getting some good jabs with her foot as she actually moved the bit they scan you with, with her foot! Then she turned around so that we couldn't see her!
Quite amusing

I just really want to enjoy this pregnancy as dd's wasn't much cop, I was always fed up. So I'm going to relish all those hard jabs in the ribs

olivo · 10/02/2006 15:16

Hi everyone! well, have made it to 12 weeks and had my scan today - it showed a very active baby, strong heartbeat and confirmed my edd as 25/08! so relieved to have seen it!! Also got my nuchal measurement done which was low risk.

off to buy some more roomy trousers and to buy (hopefully!) my last couple of weeks of anti-sickness snacks! still suffering but at leasdt i know now it is all worth it!

trix1 · 10/02/2006 15:25

Great news on the scan Olivio, I think i have felf little flutters very slightly but not 100% convinced its 2nd pregnancy and Im 13+3 - just dont know.

hope you are all well, there seems to be less talk of sickness and tiredness now.

claire7676 · 10/02/2006 16:17

Hi, can i join in? Had nuchal scan yesterday, due 18 August with no.2, (although only foud MN farly recently)

BigHotMama · 10/02/2006 16:40

Good to hear your scan went well Olivo, I'm counting the weeks until my 20 week scan now - 6 weeks yesterday!

Welcome and congrats to you Claire7676, I only found MN about 3 weeks ago and its addictive!

claire7676 · 10/02/2006 17:10

Thanks! Your right, v addictive!! I've go 8 wks til next scan, feel much happier after yesterdays scan, don't really like telling people before that scan, but unfortunatly tummy has expanded v v quickly this time round so its pretty obvious! It becomes a countdown to the next milestone doesn't it?!

Nbg · 10/02/2006 20:00

Have you seen the Chat thread on 'words that should be names'? V amusing. I liked 'Plinth'

SenoraPostrophe · 12/02/2006 14:10

hello, fellow up the duffers.

since you're on thread 2 already does that mean everyone else went ahead and posted before they were 12 weeks? perhaps I am superstitious. due 28th aug. dates changed at scan - i still think it's the 22nd.

melsy · 12/02/2006 15:12

Congrats SP, is this 2nd or 3rd bubs???

Yep sure did post before 12 weeks SP , I was having some problems early on and felt I needed to know there was a support. Well thats my thoughts on it & I'm as supersitious and they come!

Having bad few days , have to join UTI club , not been well at all with it, was prescribed Ab's yesterday for them , little worried about them, anyone heard of nitrofurantion??? , but better than secondary infection. Ive also found out my blood pressure dropped significantly from 120/80 to 90/60 and Im feeling really horrid, I also have got back my vertigo so gp says he thinks it wouod be dangerous to drive, he prescribed meds for th giddyness , but I'm reluctant to take them as pharmacist says they cause drwosiness , so wuodnt be able to drive anyway on them !!! I feel a bit peeved off really , was starting to feel good ,energetic and positive ish, started doing some more work and now I feel awful. I think the ab's are making me all teary too.

I was meant to be working on finishing a painting I promised someone for Dec !!! Now not sure what to do.

Sorry to go on and on , dh gone out with dd and mil and Im at a loss today , I shluld be resting but cant seem to even though I cant stand up for to long and I dont know what to do about not driving what a PITA. I should have a grump warning today , sounds like a need a good slap eh!!!!

olivo · 12/02/2006 16:03

Congratulations and welcome SP! I too posted much earlier as I had some problems and the mumsnetters on the pregnancy thread were so nice and helpful, I couldnt help myself!!

Melsy, sorry to hear you're still not feeling good, hopefully your abs will sort you out soon.

I have my 1st mw appt tomorrow - does anyone know if i have to take a morning wee sample or one from whenever in the day? its not till mid afternoon - also, do you think she'll mind if I take a list of things to ask her? I've been stacking up my questions for a couple of weeks now!

Arabica · 12/02/2006 16:59

Hello SenoraPostrophe & welcome! I'm 15wks and still paranoid .
Melsy, hope you feel better soon.
Olivo, there's no need to bring a sample unless they have asked you to do so. Usually you would provide a sample at your MW appt. And there should also be time to ask as many questions as you want.
Went to pregnancy yoga today. We had to pretend we had a paintbrush sticking out of our bottoms and were painting circles on a sheet of paper stuck behind us. Felt incredibly silly!

SenoraPostrophe · 12/02/2006 17:59

sounds like hell, melsy. hopefully it's just all your pregnancy ailments queuing up at the beginning so you can sail through the last few months.

it's my 3rd btw. dd will be 4, ds 2 - nice spacing huh?

mojomummy · 12/02/2006 18:53

Hi there, need to add my details...Due date 2/8/06

Nbg · 12/02/2006 19:17

Oh congratulations SP and MJM

Will update the long list

Sorry to hear your feeling so crap Melsy. UTI's are awful and can make you feel really poorly. You have my symphathies. I'm glad that they told you not to drive though because when I've had UTI's in the past, most of them have made me pass out.
Don't mean to scare you but as big as a PITA as it may be it's all for your own good (she says in a motherly tone )
Hopefully the ab's will kick in soon.

The Dr's have been very organised and sent me 2 sample bottles all written on, in proper bags and ready for urine to go in to, to be sent at 24 and 34 weeks!

Olivo, my midwife has asked for me to provide a sample to bring with me to the appt but like Arabica said if they haven't asked they may just get you to do one there.

Not entirely sure if I too felt a movement today. It could very well not have been but it certainly wasn't wind.
No doubt I'll soon feel it though.

14 weeks today!

melsy · 12/02/2006 19:44

Wow this is a big group , funny seeing so many with same edd. Hi mojomummy, have you got any mojo to pass to me!!!!

Lol Nbg at being mummy like, I think gp was concerned that what with the low bp, vertigo & UTI, I seem to have impaired visual/ spatial awarness and he did some eye exams and I went all wobbly eyed.

funny isnt it SP, my last cocktail of ailments when pg with dd were quite different, although had the low bp. You did some great planning there sp with age gaps , all 2 yrs apart, are their birthdays similar time of year to?

I managed to get some of my canvas painting done and feel quite proud that Im working despite feeling ruff,as havent touched this piece since November time. I did sit down to do it, have the wobblys and room spinning quite often!!!!

Just one last thing , its quite normal for anti b's to make you lose appetite ? Ive gone from scoffing mad , to hardly wanting much at all today?

ooop my posts seem to be mini epics right now.

lunavix · 12/02/2006 21:30

We've told all the family, dh gran is delighted keeps saying 'about time' and the pils are happy too mil keeps going 'this one has to be a girl' she was happy once ds was born but cos she never had a daughter she wants me to have one.

I have to admit I've fallen in love with a pram, and I only like it in the girly colour, it's on silvercross.co.uk it's a 'freestyle' and I love it in 'blossom'. so so cool. Also have named the baby if it's a girl! Evie Grace. Have to admit I've been looking at girl clothes too... so it will probably be a boy

Oh and I'm so gutted NBG.. I phoned up my local 4d scan place and it's £295 for the same scan they do at the one local to you

babylily · 13/02/2006 10:16

Anyone got an idea of what this could be...

I've been having tearing burning pains going right up the centre of my abdomen. They take my breath away and woke me up in the middle of the night. I've had them off and on for the past 5 days, but today they are worse. I wondered if it might bea UTI, as twice it came on while I was on the loo, but I don't have any of the pain I'd normally asociate with cystitis.
I've spoken to a midwife and she told me I'm too early for them to listen for a heartbeat (I'm 13 + 5), so I've had to make an emergency appointment at the doctors for tomorrow morning.
I'm not overly worrying as I'm sure if anything was wrong I'd get crampy rather than burny pain. I did have severe SPD with previous pregnancies which gave me similar-ish pain but I'd thought it came from using the crutches rather than from the SPD.
I'm also wondering where on earth my bump is hiding itself??? I had a teeny one a few weeks ago but have had to accept it was not baby, but probably digestion! Does everyone else have something to show for it yet?
