1,000 posts into the very popular September 2012 thread, here's a new one, for knicker checking, boob prodding, toilet rushing, oh and eating the entire contents of the fridge or McDonalds

Here's to our tiny beans and all the lovely ladies lost along the way.

Full steam ahead to booking in and positive scans aplenty.

Wow!! Everyone seeems to have brilliant results over the last few days!!

Does anyone have one on the 28th or is it just me?? I'm looking forward to it but nervous as hell too!! Hopefully with my bleed a few weeks ago and my cramping I'll be ok!!

Loopyhasanotherbean · 21/02/2012 16:40

we had our scan this afternoon, DP pleased as just one baby in there! heartbeat fine, and legs were kicking like crazy, but as i suspected, i ovulated late so they now think my due date is the 11th Sept rather than 3rd-5th which is what various medical people told me it would be!! Happy with that as even if it's as early as DS was, it should still be born in September for the new school year :) Bean was too small for them to get a decent measurement for the nuchal test, so got to go back next Tuesday for another scan. Re bloods, yes, you need to have the bloods done the same day as the scan, doesn't matter how recent you had other bloods, these have to be done exactly the same day else the results won't be accurate.

CluelessMama · 21/02/2012 16:52

LOVING hearing all about scans! Great that there's been so much good news, and it's properly filling me with wonder that we can carry these new lives inside us. A good antidote to the exhaustion and nausea!!
I'm a few weeks behind some of you, as due date is late September, so probably a few weeks to wait for my scan. Here's hoping the good scan results continue for all of us!!

Rusulka · 21/02/2012 17:32

Hey ladies, had scan today, all seems ok.

Bit concerned as Peanut is measuring at 13 weeks, not 12+2 as expected, and there's no way I could have got any of my dates wrong as I was temping and using ovulation sticks. After all the scaremongering the NHS have done so far about my BMI potentially leading to a gigantic baby, it's got me worried...

Unless there's a problem with the NT results, I may not get my letter through for 5 weeks! Considering we're waiting for that to tell everyone we haven't already, that's a little hard to swallow.

Quite nicely though, the sonographer printed us 7 pics of 5 different images, and we somehow got away without paying- brilliant as in our hospital, they're a fiver each and you get 4 max!

Trying not to worry, but still feel a bit glum. Might feel better after some internet research and getting those results back...

Congrats to everyone else who's had a good scan.

Macaroons · 21/02/2012 17:47

Glad to hear more good scan results! And thanks for the warning about more blood test... I think I'll have to get used to the needles...!

loopy and rus I am confused with the dates they got based on yesterday's emergency scan as well. I temp and I know my cycles are round about 32-36 days, so although my EDD is 5/9 based on LMP, based on my dates I thought my EDD would be around 12/9. And that's the date I got from my 6 week private scan. But based on yesterday's measurement they seem to think my EDD would be 7/9. All very confusing. Will see what they say tomorrow.

I woke up at 3 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. Very tired now. I hope this waking-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-to-pee thing is gonna stop... I'm knackered from lack of sleep!

WaitingForLittleR · 21/02/2012 18:15

Macaroons I'm not great with having blood taken either - not really scared but normally go quite weak after. Lady today took the blood so quick and painlessly I couldn't believe it, and was basically looking at her going that's it?! No weakness either, which is a first. Either she was a super pro, or I'm just getting used to it by now!

And Rusulka that sounds like a great scan! Try not to stress; this pregnancy thing is a long slog and there'll be something to worry about at every stage I reckon (and after!). I'm taking my new 13 week EDD as a sign that I'm over the rockiest part of the journey and can relax. I also reckon that babies like all people must grow at different rates at different stages; the apps and things online all say that what they're showing is estimate/average and that different babies, even healthy ones, grow at different stages. Think of the kids you see that are tallest in their class and then as adults are no bigger than anyone else - you never know when they're going to shoot up/slow down. Seems especially true when the babies insist on ignoring the EDD anyway and showing up when they're ready themselves! Don't worry, do as I did and have celebratory pancakes for a good scan! Grin

Macaroons · 21/02/2012 18:53

I've had a horrible experience with blood being taken many years ago - that's why I'm scarred for life! Basically that nurse couldn't find my blood vessel after about 2 attempts, and at the third attempt, she got it, but she somehow lost control and there was blood everywhere on the floor!!! and I had a very bad bruise (size of half an iphone!) in the next few days! Confused (that was the Royal Free hospital... I know it's all down to luck as to who you get ...)

elliemay80 · 21/02/2012 19:08

Thought this might be of interest

www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/fetaldevelopment/chart/

My scan last week measured the baby at 42 mm which suggests like you Loopy I ovulated late (LMP put me at 11+3 but measurments more like 11 weeks). I expect EDD to change at scan on Friday providing all is well. 2/9 based on LMP.

macaroons I just wondered how many weeks your scan put you at (you did say early but don't want to trawl through the thread!) when you measured 74mm? Were you further gone than you thought?

Seems that most of you are further along than you thought but it seems that I am behind what I thought I was.

The sonographer didn't adjust my EDD based on scan but just told me to come back for another one. Probably more about being able to do NT rather than concerns about growth. I hope.

Seems that there is a lot of confusion on this thread about dates!

Macaroons · 21/02/2012 19:30

ellie thanks for the website, will check out later!

my bean measured 46.8mm yesterday which is 11+3, when I thought it is more like 10+5 based on my ovulation date.

this reminds me, I haven't congratulated laura for jumping from a September EDD to a July one! she's 17 weeks when she thought she's around 12 weeks!

funchum8am · 21/02/2012 21:07

Congratulations everyone on happy healthy scans. And laura jumping forward, to 17 weeks, that must feel pretty good!

Just got home after year 10 parents' evening....zonked! Sleep well everyone.

twizzlestix · 21/02/2012 21:13

Hi all, I've been following this thread from the beginning but have been lurking as was too scared to post before my 12 week scan which I had today and THERE REALLY IS A BABY! After 27 months we finally have our BFP :) Due date a leeeeetle earlier than expected and we just squeeze into Sept, due the 1st!
Congrats to everyone who have had successful scans!

fatsamsgrandslam · 21/02/2012 21:16

Hello! I had my scan this afternoon and all went well. They have moved my EDD forward 7 days - so am now due at the end of August. Not that the EDD makes much of a difference really, hopefully the baby will come of it's own accord when it's ready anyway.

Next step will be getting the nuchal fold results in a week or so.

Really pleased it sounds like everyone has had good scans this week so far - long may it continue!

MadMonkeys · 21/02/2012 21:21

Congrats on all the happy scans!

These weeks are dragging by until my scan... Although I'm feeling rough with the nausea etc it doesn't seem real yet.

Well, with so many of us on this thread, statisically at least one of us should be having twins Smile. I guess those who've already had scans have rule themselves out so I wonder who it is? There are twins in my family in my grandparents generation, but one of the twins died during or soon after birth and wasn't really talked about so I don't know whether they were identical or not. It's the non-identical ones that run in familes isn't it? The identical ones are down to random chance I think. Well, I bet that's got you all thinking! night night.

Claravet · 21/02/2012 21:29

Hi All, Have been watching for a few weeks now am a first-timer at 9+2, EDD 25 Sept. Is exciting and slightly nerve racking in equal measure watching everyones progress. Have got of relatively lightly in the symptom front nausea+ occasional motion sickness hanging onto stop the bed moving first thing in the morning is not a good sensation. Sore boobs, dodgy tummy and a dislike of chocolate and wine. Hadn't realised how tired i was till the last couple days when i found I had loads of energy, before realising that actually i just felt normal, had forgotten what it was like
Little Spade Pre BFP was a 30G had to upgrade fazirly quickly for somwthing to sleep in. Found Asda sports bras 2 for £8 (1 black, 1 white) are absolutely fantastic, supportive and comfortable and at that price doesn't matter if you have to buy a new size very month!

WaitingForLittleR · 21/02/2012 22:37

Welcome Claravet and Twizzlestix! Twizzlestix - I totally understand where you're coming from not wanting to post until 12 weeks - I did that last time. This time I decided to post, but have been avoiding the stats list - I think I can do that now! And congrats to yourself and fatslam on the happy scans! Here's to more of the same from the Wednesday ladies!

ballroomblitz · 21/02/2012 23:05

Wow and brilliant for all the happy scan news. I always think the dates are slightly off tbh. I don't pay much attention to due dates after ds's was in Decenber and the wee blighter arrived in October. They come when they want to Grin.

Congratulations and welcome twizzlestix and Claravet

Thali tooth was a bit better for a day and it's now agony again. Currently chewing on a whole clove (would be better in a hot whiskey) and waiting for paracetemol to kick in. Ringing dentist first thing in the morning. Have a funny feeling I'm going to need a root canal or filling myself. Between you, Loup and I looks like a few of us will be paying the dentists a visit.

Good news about the bleeding stopping and good scan Macaroons

Don't understand what some people are saying about paying for scan photos. Are these through private clinics or the NHS hospitals?? I know I definately don't have to pay anything for mine.

MadMonkeys don't even mention the twins word. Everyone has been keeping me going about twins as dp is a twin and it ran in my gf's side.

Did you hear from the EPU york? Hope everything's ok.

ahhhhhpushit · 21/02/2012 23:11

We have to pay for NHS scan photos!

ahhhhhpushit · 21/02/2012 23:15

Ps - twins can only come down the maternal side - think about it...two eggs released...! Identical twins (paternal) are total flukes (two sperm hitting an egg).

ballroomblitz · 21/02/2012 23:27

I know ahhhhhpushit but they just won't listen to meeee. Saying it to wind me up :)

I just checked we don't get charged but can do a donation to tinylife for scan photos at 20 weeks if we want.

Loopyhasanotherbean · 22/02/2012 08:55

identical twins are 1 egg 1 sperm, that divides into 2 sets of cells? only 2 sperm when its two eggs, which is non identical. and as far as i know, identical are random, and non identical are through the maternal line, nothing comes from the fathers line (thankfully as DP's mom was a twin!)

our hospital says £2 per photo as a donation to the hospitals trust, but she never asked for money yesterday. Thinking about it, we never paid for the 12 week ones for DS, but they did make us pay for the 20 week ones.

Loup23 · 22/02/2012 09:10

Congratulations to all those with great scan results yesterday, may it continue today and through the next few weeks!

lurkingmurking · 22/02/2012 09:12

I admit I was pretty terrified they'd say it was twins but no!

Welcome Claravet and Twizzlestix

Good luck everyone who has scans today - I'm loving all the scan news!

I have booking in appointment today - I'm hoping they might scan me too but I doubt it and will probably have to go back again.

pgreen · 22/02/2012 09:14

hello all It's wonderful seeing all this fantastic news. I have my scan on 28th and CAN NOT wait. I've had all my booking in blood tests two weeks ago just the Down's test on the 28th to go. I have 2 sets of twins on my mothers side of the family (her brothers & sisters) all non identical however as I am still not showing its highly unlikely I think that we'll be next!

Anyway we have to pay too for NHS photo, £5 cash on the day for 2 photo's.... hope everyone has happy scans this week

sasslejaney84 · 22/02/2012 09:18

Well, sounds like everyone who had scans yesterday had a brilliant one!! I'm hoping mine is just as successful!!

Went on a massive cleaning spree last night! At midnight!! Whoops!

Awful weather on the walk down to school Sad not good! Somehow managed to make my sickness worse! Didn't even know I had sickness today until I got back about 10 mins ago!!

My SIL is pregnant with twins so I hope I'm not the one with twins!! I don't think my poor DM could cope with 6 grandkids at 52!!

sasslejaney84 · 22/02/2012 09:21

Forgot to say! Welcome to the newbies!! Congrats and good luck!!

My local hospital charge £5 for pics too,
