1,000 posts into the very popular September 2012 thread, here's a new one, for knicker checking, boob prodding, toilet rushing, oh and eating the entire contents of the fridge or McDonalds

Here's to our tiny beans and all the lovely ladies lost along the way.

Full steam ahead to booking in and positive scans aplenty.

That would make me stupidly unlucky then elliemay as I've lost two after good 13 week scans with heartbeats never mind 8 week ones. Not meaning to scaremonger but it obviously does happen. Happily most are fine, of course.

Oh gosh misscoffee that's really sad. I think I am just personally trying to look on the bright side post MC but I have friends who have had very late MCs and another a stillbirth so I know you are never out of the woods until you are holding a crying baby.

MissCoffeeNWine · 20/02/2012 20:43

Oh I'm trying to get the bright side too! I feel quite happy with this one actually. It seems to have a presence. Just need to get past the next few months. To flip it on it's head I've never really worried about getting to this point (I'm 11 weeks now and saw wiggly baby today) it's just after this point I start to stress! I just do the stressing out part at a different time!

Well I keep hedging every mention of the future with "if all goes well" etc etc but I do feel reassured by the scan (which was the point after all). If anything is going wrong, me worrying about it isn't going to stop it or help in any way so I'm looking on the bright side too.

misscoffee you have had such a terrible experience I am so hopeful that this "bean with presence" works out for you!

I know a couple of people who had MCs in the week before the 12 week scan, or found out they'd had an MMC at the 12 weeks scan, plus stories on here of course. And one friend who had a stillbirth.

I guess we all just need to keep things in perspective and that all important 95% figure (thanks for the reminder elliemay!) for successful post-scan pregnancies. Which means misscoffee you are completely top of the list for some luck!

Hello :)

Just to let all you lovely ladies know that I have to leave & trundle off to the July group!
I had my first scan today at what I thought was 11-12 weeks & I discovered I'm actually 17+4 weeks! So I'm no longer due on 10th September but on 26th July.

Thanks again for your company :)
Laura

fatsamsgrandslam · 20/02/2012 22:01

Wow lauraj! Congratulations!!! Quite a leap forward from your dates!! That's fantastic, and you get to have a slightly shorter than average pg - perfect!

lauraj78 · 20/02/2012 22:12

I know, isn't it! I've always had odd cycles though & consistently gone 35-40 days in between & on occasion even totally missed a period so I couldn't properly judge (or remember) when my last one was.

:)

Bakeroo · 20/02/2012 22:20

Hi all, I was so pleased to hear that so many people had good scans today! Congratulations....we're getting there :)
My scan went brilliantly too, I don't think I've ever been more relieved or happy.....I was so nervous beforehand. The sonographer said everything was perfect and the downs syndrome test was 'low risk' with 1 in almost 9,000 chance. Watching the baby wriggle and jump around was just so wonderful and hearing it's strong heartbeat was so reassuring. We have some lovely pictures, couldn't resist buying 2( she gave us the third free!)
So the reduced symptoms was normal and everything is ok...I really hope that anyone worrying about reduced symptoms will take comfort from this. And breathe....
Xx

ballroomblitz · 21/02/2012 00:18

Grin and congratulations for everyone with good news scans today!!

MissCoffee although I haven't lost a pregnancy I understand what you mean about stressing about a different time. It's the 27ish week mark (when it started to go wrong for me and ds) I'm worrying about to the point I'm getting a bit anxious thinking about it at night.

Trying to remind myself that stress won't help either and although it was a hard start for the both of us I have a delightful 4yo to show for it.

sasslejaney84 · 21/02/2012 08:23

Good luck to everyone with scans today!!!!

Wow LauraJ!! That's a massive leap!! Lucky you!

Feel very very sick this morning! I'm gonna try my best not to fall asleepp today, did not sleep well at all last night!!

lurkingmurking · 21/02/2012 10:13

Wow Laura that's mad!

Yey Bakeroo great news

DS was a star this morning, after waking up at 6 for the past 5 days he slept til 7.30 - it was utter bliss to get that extra sleep time!

Loup23 · 21/02/2012 10:15

Checking in to wish everyone with scans today good luck - look forward to reaidng more happy posts!

We bit the bullet and told DSC, one is absolutely not happy and has not reacted well at all which has put a bit of a dampner on things.....

Congratulations Laura how lovely to jump a month or two! Good luck with the July arrival!

WaitingForLittleR · 21/02/2012 10:36

Just getting ready to leave for the hospital for ours... awful nervous, can feel it in my belly. Delighted to hear all the good news yesterday - here's hoping there's more later on...

Loup - never mind them. Not sure what age they are, but that's very immature. Either way, they'll need to adjust!

WaitingForLittleR · 21/02/2012 10:38

Also best of luck to the other ladies up today - lets do this together!

stelleyespan · 21/02/2012 10:39

Tonight we are going to tell both sets of parents that I'm pregnant. It's been quite hard keeping it quiet during the weekly phone calls so I'm all excited to finally be able to tell them our news.

fatsamsgrandslam · 21/02/2012 11:13

Good luck to everyone having their scan today. Our appointment is this afternoon - already feel very sick as well waiting!

loup - sorry you didn't get the response you were hoping for from your dsc. I can imagine it may be tough for children to get their head around, although I'm not sure of their ages. I really hope that once they have a bit of time to adjust to the idea, they mellow! When we were pg with our ds, a family member reacted very badly to the news and it really impacted on our enjoyment of the pg. As soon as ds was here, it totally changed and everyone was happy again. It is amazing what happens to even the hardest heart when a healthy and beautiful baby bounces in to the world! Hope it gets sorted out as quickly as possible!

lurkingmurking · 21/02/2012 11:23

Good luck everyone who has scans today!

Thali34 · 21/02/2012 11:37

So lovely to hear of all the positive scans so far! Good luck to all those who have scans today - look forward to hearing more happy news!

By my dates, I'll be 12 weeks on Thursday, which has been a big milestone in my mind. But have to wait til 12+6 (next week Wednesday) for scan, which I suppose still means holding off with telling the news. Our immediate family all know, and a handful of close friends, although I feel bad for not telling my grandparents, who are in their 90s and keep demanding great-grandchildren! It feels unfair to burden them with a secret, so haven't told them. I suppose next week will come around quickly enough, but time does seem to drag! Am very nervous - first time ever!

ballroom sorry to hear about your toothache! Has it gone away? They can treat you when you're pregnant, but its very important that you inform them so they can decide what to do. I sympathise as I've had lots of problems with one of my teeth. It results from something a dentist did to me about 6 years ago, but it has chosen now to flare up! I'm going for my third dentist appt tomorrow and unfortunately they've had to start root canal treatment! They assure me its safe though, but I've beaten myself up about it a lot.

york67 · 21/02/2012 12:27

Brilliant to hear about the positive scans and good luck to those having one today.
Saw gp re my spotting/now also have a little intermittent pain too. He has taken it seriously and is referring me to EPU. Now waiting for the phone call telling me when they can scan me.
loup sure they will come round.

Loup23 · 21/02/2012 13:21

Waiting to hear good news from Waiting and fatsam! Good luck with the news sharing tonight stelley how lovely!

I am going for a dentist appointment tomorrow and am pretty sure I need two fillings so I'm also concerned about whether treatment is ok but I also know it's extra important to avoid bad gums/infections etc during pregnancy so better to get it seen to!

Thanks for your support ladies re SC - I really hope it doesn't casue problems between me and DH - the other SC have been fantastic, the one being difficult is nearly 13..... Anyway maybe a step-parenting forum is the outlet for that?!?! Let this forum be happy news!

York how are you doing today? Has the spotting let up at all? I hope you get seen by the EPU soon and that postive news awaits x

Macaroons · 21/02/2012 13:35

glad to hear so many good news re scan and NT tests!

york fingers crossed for you! Hope you'll get a call from EPU, as a scan really will put your mind at rest a little. How much are you bleeding? The nurse said so long as I'm not changing my pad every half hour it should be fine. (but any amount of blood would freak me out, TBH)

luckily my bleeding stopped... it's good that my 12 week scan is scheduled to be tomorrow so I can sure the bean is fine! yesterday my bean was measured to be 46.8mm, this compares to 6mm back on 21/1!!! very rapid growth! Hope my NT test will go well, do they need to take more blood tomorrow, or would they use the blood result from 1st MW appointment? I'm not a big fans of needles Confused

york67 · 21/02/2012 14:06

Hi ladies. Thank you.
Bleeding seems to have stopped more or less. Discharge more a fawn colour now and not much of it.
Doctor was probably more concerned about it being possibly ectopic as I have had some pain lower left side. However, thinks I may be too far on for that at almost 9 weeks. Plus pain probably would be more severe.
Trying to feel positive whilst waiting for phone to ring.

WaitingForLittleR · 21/02/2012 14:31

Thanks to all of you who were wishing me and the other ladies up today luck!

Just back from the hospital after a happy 12w scan and booking appt! Baby was all there, saw everything from his brain to his hands and feet and his belly - and he was moving around, looked like he had hiccups! Crazy to think that I can't feel all that movement. Policy is you buy scan photo tickets before you go in - £2 per photo, but I forgot and lovely scan lady let us have 4 pics for 2 tokens and let me nip out for the tokens afterward. NT measurement was 2mm. Bloods were taken, and should be tested this week; I'll get a call by Friday if I'm high risk which is defined as

WaitingForLittleR · 21/02/2012 14:41

PS. Macaroons, I'm with you on the rapid growth - at our private scan exactly 3 weeks ago at 9+4 we had a tot of 28mm. Now, at 12+4 (by LMP anyway) we're 71.4mm!! So in 3 weeks exactly he's more than 2.5 times the size! Young rugger buggers/leggy supermodels, perhaps?!

I'm sure your scan will be fine tomorrow as it was yesterday, but looking forward to hearing how it goes

Loup23 · 21/02/2012 15:52

Yay for waiting great news, I suspect some other beans will have EDD in August or be born early so don't leave us (plus you might hold out until September anyway!). Funny how you call it a him, I keep saying him...... for some reason I think boy but have no logical reason...!

York glad spotting seems to have stopped, let us know when the EPU call (soon I hope).

Macaroons I think you'll have to have another blood test.... I did at my NHS 12 week and I'm still waiting for the results - the private clinic took my blood a week early and then gave me the risk straight after the scan which was nice, agree with waiting it would be good if the hospital called you either way!

Any more scans out there today? Grin
