1,000 posts into the very popular September 2012 thread, here's a new one, for knicker checking, boob prodding, toilet rushing, oh and eating the entire contents of the fridge or McDonalds

Here's to our tiny beans and all the lovely ladies lost along the way.

Full steam ahead to booking in and positive scans aplenty.

Iph I am so happy for you. I nearly posted yesterday to see if anyone knew what had happened to you as you hadn't been around but I didn't want to cause any upset if things had gone wrong. So pleased that you can join back in now Grin

Thanks Whatever and ellie I am pretty chuffed myself. Somehow I am convinced it should be 1 in 5100 rather than 51,000 because that seems ridiculously low risk. perhaps its a typo and they added an extra 0? Either way I feel like I can start looking forward now.

Bakeroo · 02/03/2012 17:40

IPH I remember you too! Congratulations and welcome back. That is such wonderful news...so great you can breathe again, I know exactly what you mean. Hurrah hurrah!

twizzlestix · 02/03/2012 17:46

Great news Iph, glad you've returned.

rightontime congrats on the fantastic NT results :)

sasslejaney84 · 02/03/2012 19:27

Welcome back lph!! So glad everything is ok with your bean!

I got my NT results in the post today, my risk is 1 in 100'000!!! So very very low risk! Happy with that!!

Glad everyone else has had good results and FX for all those with scans to come!!

I too, am waiting for the healthy pregnancy glow! I feel like crap and look even worse! Plus, I seem to be bruising like a peach since I got PG and its not like me!!

Then there is the daft things too! I've managed to loose a ten £ note somewhere in the house (as I haven't been out since I got back from town with it, its gotta be in the house) its probably in the freezer or something!!

twizzlestix · 02/03/2012 20:02

Got home this pm and my NT results had arrived too rightontime, very relieved to be low risk at 1 in 20000 :)

twizzlestix · 02/03/2012 20:05

Oooh cross post sassie congrats on your NT results! They are REALLY low :) Shall we suggest random places you could have left it and see whose closest? I think it's in the bathroom :)

ballroomblitz · 02/03/2012 21:02

Wow Iph that's marvellous and welcome back!!

Congrats for all the low NT results.

WaitingForLittleR · 02/03/2012 21:47

Welcome back Iph! and congrats to everyone with scan and NT results. Our results came on thurs - one in 25,000, so that's great! We're home home for the weekend to tell everyone - just back from telling my mum, and have dad, DH's family, friends and sisters to tell - should be a good weekend :D

Loup23 · 02/03/2012 21:50

Hey everyone :)

Scan went great yesterday! Bean seems blissfully happy in there and has 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 head etc. They pushed my dates forward by 3 days (which pissed me off as I am trying to avoid induction this time) so I am now due on the 7th Sep.

nice to see you back iph congrats hun :)

lurkingmurking · 03/03/2012 08:32

Haven't posted here for a few days - brilliant to hear more great scan results - so exciting!

My scan is on Friday I can't wait!!

Have been at my parents for a couple of days and got all my maternity clothes - I love it it's just having a whole new wardrobe!

elliemay80 · 03/03/2012 11:12

Got my NT results in the post today. 1 in 9500 so low risk. Phew!

FirstTime I am 32. I too wondered about the ages of those with amazingly low odds. I'm thinking the likes of 1 in 100,000 and 1 in 51,000.

Seems as though we are all very lucky though.

ahhhhhpushit · 03/03/2012 11:58

Does anyone ever get moved back at the scan?? Everyone seems to move forward!!!

Rusulka · 03/03/2012 12:32

Iph great to see you back!

Ballroom sorry about your news.

Well, I've given the hospital a week plus 3 working days to get back to me, and they haven't, so I assume I'm low risk. Just waiting for the letter now, although it could be another 3 and a half weeks. Grr. Hoping for awesome odds like some others have already had, but I'm 30 so not holding my breath.

Getting really irritated with all the messing around- my MiL asked DH if the due date changed after the scan, and he said yes (idiot) and she was doing her whole nodding all-knowing wise woman act and it really pissed me off. No, it hasn't changed. Peanut is just bigger than expected. I wish he would think before opening his trap, especially to his mum.
Looking forward to it coming up in conversation so I can put her straight. She's arriving tomorrow and I can look forward to the next 5 months being a slog of non-stop outdated and misinformed advice, which I'm obviously going to ignore. I just hope she doesn't send my blood pressure through the roof!
Had my parents to stay for nearly a week and it was utter bliss, gardening and lots of help, and understanding and hugs. My MiL is a pain. she means well, but she just doesn't listen.

She told me she could come to midwife and scan appointments with me (no, that is DH's right, not yours, and you can't have 2! There's only 1 chair!) and that hot baths are fine, when I've been told they're not, and even said when we go swimming we can use the jacuzzi and steam room (which a is a definite no-no!) and when I tell her this, she just pulls a face and says that's not how it was before. Sigh. It has been over 24 years since she last had a child, I wish she'd just accept that things are different!
Last time she was here she told me 3 TIMES that when we have children they need non-slip socks so they don't fall over on our wooden floors. Once is enough, I'm not braindead. I expect she'll be telling me this same thing over and over and over again, until I buy some. ARGH!

Wow, that was a rant. Not dealing well with her coming, I guess.

In good news, I've managed to drop 5 pounds and a whole BMI point since I saw the midwife. Got another 2 weeks til I see the fat consultant, so going to do my utmost to prove I'm not another one of their wanky statistics. Honestly. Obesity is the new smoking. Grump.

sasslejaney84 · 03/03/2012 13:28

rus I've had the same from my grandma!! Its been 43 yrs since she had her last!! She has this week been extolling the virtues of a home birth, despite the fact that due to my epilepsy I'll be cartedd into hospital against my will if they have to!!

ellie I'm 27 and I was 1 in 100000. I'm not high risk per se but I thought I'd get checked anyway!!

twizzle no one else joined in but it was in the cupboard onto of a tin of spaghetti Confused very odd!! In order to say thank you to the spaghetti I ate it!!

MissCoffeeNWine · 03/03/2012 13:48

I had 1 in 100,000 risk with my DS last year, I was 27 then. He had a 1.3mm measurement at 13 weeks. This one, 28, had a 1.8mm measurement at 12w 4 days. I'm not expecting high risk results but I'll be surprised if it's 1 in 100,000 again. It'll be interesting for me to see the difference between the two as I've had two NT scans in the last 6 months with different babies, so it's a good illustration of how risk is very individual even when maternal age is about as close as it can be.

I got moved forward a few days, I'm happy about it, I want to be as far on as I can as it's less days to live in quite so much fear. I don't care about the end date/due date as I've refused induction for post dates once and I'll do it again if I have to, nobody can make you do anything you don't want to do.

Lovely to hear everyone is doing well. I am ten days from my nuchal scan and can't wait. My almost non-existent symptoms have pretty much completely gone now (am 11+2) and I am hoping this is normal rather than bad news. I'm frankly quite bored now and just want to tell everyone! Good luck for others having scans in the coming week.

elliemay80 · 03/03/2012 18:36

MissCoffee glad the scan went well and I hope it all continues to go well for you this time. Good that you are a bit further on. I am wishing the next 4 and a half weeks away (until I get my next midwife appt at around 18 weeks). Then I only have ten days until my 20 week scan. Doesn't seem very sensibly spaced out! 5 weeks of limbo then two appointments so close together!

Accidentally had a caffeinated tea earlier and a bit paranoid as been trying to avoid caffeine. Ah well..

Funchum I'm sure the next ten days will fly by.

WaitingForLittleR · 03/03/2012 23:14

Firsttime, I'm 29 (will be 30 when the LO shows up) and had risk of 1 in 25,000.

Just back from telling some more people - and have a few more to tell tomorrow - everyone delighted as I'm one of the first of my friends and the first in my family so having a great weekend :)

elliemay I'm on decaf tea and decaf coffee - but having the odd caffienated tea and amn't worrying about that at all - for example if I have tea at work or in someone's house. You get 6 cups or something before you hit the limit anyway, so don't worry!

sasslejaney84 · 04/03/2012 08:21

ellie I wouldn't worry too much about caffinated tea tbh, like, waiting said, its 6 cups a day for the limit and as long as you aren't exceeding that you should be fine! I have to have a cuppa some days as if I don't I'll just end up sleeping all day!!

misscoffee glad everything went well with the scan and you were moved forward! I was moved back a whole week so wasn't too happy but nothing that can be done, just hope baba catches up by the time 20 week scan comes in!!

My back is killing me this morning, pulled a muscle in my lower back yesterday as I had to cart about a poorly 18month old!! My DSD has had a cold and was throwing up everywhere!! Feel very sorry for her, she seems to be better this morning so hopefully she will be ok!! She is going home today too so I intend on getting in the bath and having a relaxing soak!

rightontime · 04/03/2012 10:25

I am 25 and had the 1 in 51,000 risk. Last year I was 24 and had 1 in 350 so very much dependant on each pregnancy. I didn't have the test done for ds1 when I was 19 or with DS2 when I was 22 but would have been interesting to see how it changed over time.

ballroomblitz · 04/03/2012 10:44

Rusulka I had a bit of an eye-rolling moment with the 'MIL' too recently. She is lovely and gave birth to 8 kids which were all relatively straight-forward. I was eplaining to her that I was high risk for high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia and her reply was that I just needed to relax and take it easy (yeah if only it was that simple eh?)

Dp also broke it to me that she wants to come and stay for the first two weeks after the birth!!! Uhh no. I put the foot down on that one. I'm not having someone in the house 24/7 while we are bonding with the baby and I'm trying to establish breastfeeding etc.

Glad your scan was good MissCoffee had wondered where you had gone. Are you still getting that swirling feeling? I got it the other night which was decidedly weird as I think 11 weeks is far too early to feel anything.

elliemay I really wouldn't worry about an odd caffeinated tea/coffee. I'm still having 2 cups a day of coffee and one of tea and the rest decaff. Trying to cut down slowly as I'm a BIG caffeine addict and have had enough with nicotine withdrawals without having caffeine ones on top of that :) They say to have up to 200ml a day: instant coffee 100ml, cup tea 50ml and bar chocolate 50ml. (The studies that were carried out were for far higher amounts of caffeine that affected fetus. I think round about 500 iirc but I could be wrong. Best to stay at guidelines anyway)

Hope your dsd is ok sassle. So easy to pull muscles atm isn't it? I pulled my lower back too last week. Have no idea how I did it but think it was scrubbing out the back. Not too bad unless I'm bending over and standing up. Hope yours gets better soon. I'm thinking of ordering a pregnancy pilates or yoga dvd because my joints aren't the strongest as it is and there is nowhere near me that does those types of classes.
