1,000 posts into the very popular September 2012 thread, here's a new one, for knicker checking, boob prodding, toilet rushing, oh and eating the entire contents of the fridge or McDonalds

Here's to our tiny beans and all the lovely ladies lost along the way.

Full steam ahead to booking in and positive scans aplenty.

york fingers crossed for you. Hope it's nothing to worry about.

I only seem to be able to reply to one or two person each time, then when I look further down there are more messages to reply! (baby brain?) I'm on iPhone so a very small screen, and I can't check back on the messages while I post... So pls excuse me!

lurkingmurking · 20/02/2012 11:45

macaroons it's an antiseptic liquid - tastes vile but is very very good for sore throats and toothache.

I had a year off last time and it was lovely (don't worry 6 months is ages to plan!). I'd love to have a year off again especially as the end of the year will be the Summer. Just have to work out the financials though.

Don't forget ladies you accure holiday on maternity leave so that helps - last time I had a year and 5 weeks off and got paid for the last 5 weeks Grin

I've had some really odd stomach pains - when I sneeze it hurts in my tummy - I think though it's just muscles stretching around. I have a baby belly anyway but the bottom of it is definitely getting harder. I absolutely cannot wait to have a bump - I adored my bump last time!

LittleSpade · 20/02/2012 13:03

Really interesting to read everyone's news from the weekend. Hope those with worries all turn out ok and that scans booked for today and tomorrow go well.

I bought some pregnancy bras from mothercare at the weekend and feel sooo much more comfortable :)

Apart from continuing sore boobs at night (going to get a sleep bra too) and crazy chip cravings most of my symptoms have gone and I feel generally a lot better. Starting to get a small bump though i think and often feel like I can sort feel / know there's something in my tummy in a really hard to describe way - anyone else no what I mean??

Scan booked for 5th March - can't wait!

ballroomblitz · 20/02/2012 13:51

So sorry to hear your news JMLR

Hope everything is ok for you york and your dc feels better soon.

Macaroons I find gargling warm salty water is fantastic for sore throats. Old wives tale but really works.

lurking That's great. I did ask ask my cousin yesterday and she said the same. It may not hold or the colour might change (her blond dye turned her hair ginger when she was pregnant). Going to give it a whirl before dp and I go away for the weekend. Feeling a bit low atm so it might cheer me up. I'm looking forward to having a bump this time fingers crossed. As ds was so small I barely had one last time.

Good luck for everyone having scans!!!

Poppyjen · 20/02/2012 13:59

Just a quick one to say all well at scan, dated me at 12+1 so edd now 2nd September. There was a very wriggly tiny baby in there, even though I have done this all before I am still amazed! Grin Hoping all was well with the other scans today, I look forward to hearing news!

rightontime · 20/02/2012 14:31

Yay congratulations poppyjen

I get the tummy pains too when I sneeze or cough. I find it easiest to bend with the force of the sneeze or lay down and bring my knees to my chest with every sneeze so nothing is getting pulled.

I am getting crazy dreams too. Its seems that every night I dream about a different person that I know and they are really vivid and bizarre, sometimes horrible like macarrons, not with the clot passing but being shot at and stuff. Not dreamt too much about the baby but the one dream I did have it was born and it was a girl but then they took it away and would let me see her. Dreaming a lot about DP which is quite unusual for me. He hardly ever features in my dreams normally.

sasslejaney84 · 20/02/2012 14:38

Yay poppyjen!!! Brilliant news hun!!

Macaroons · 20/02/2012 15:27

Saw some blood just now when I wiped Confused left work immediately and am now at EPU waiting to be seen. This is very scary! Hope my dream last night was only a dream Confused FC I have a fighter in there and he/she will hang on tightly!

lurkingmurking · 20/02/2012 15:33

Yay poppyjen great news!

Oh Macaroons everything crossed.

fatsamsgrandslam · 20/02/2012 15:36

So sorry to hear your news JMLR.

Macaroons - soothing cups of hot water, lemon and honey really do help too. It is such a pain when you're ill and you discover how much stuff you can't take when you're pregnant. Last time I was pg I cricked my neck really badly - I was in agony. I don't think I was even allowed to use heat pads!

Great news Poppyjen!

I had horribly vivid dreams at the weekend too - dreamt our house got burgled and the man put a knife to my throat. Hormones are great, aren't they?!

It hurts when I sneeze too! Every time I go to sneeze now, I have to brace myself - hold my tummy with my arms and also make sure my pelvic floor muscles are tight (although that's not pg-related more related to the fact I have given birth before!). Oh for the days when I could sneeze care-free!

I'm 12 weeks today and have our scan tomorrow. I am soooooo nervous about it. My sister and two of my close friends have had 10 mc between them since my ds was born, and it really makes you take nothing for granted.

Good luck for eveyone who has scans this week!

fatsamsgrandslam · 20/02/2012 15:38

Oh no Macaroons - fingers crossed for you.

LittleSpade · 20/02/2012 15:48

Yay poppjen :o - so does that make your due date earlier or later than you'd expected?

Oh no macaroons - fingers crossed for you!

MissCoffeeNWine · 20/02/2012 16:50

I had another scan today and they dated the baby at 11 weeks, which has moved my due date sooner. Everything seems to be going well. The real test is the next couple of months but it's allright for now. I have the NT scan in two weeks.

Hope everything's okay Macaroons

Macaroons · 20/02/2012 16:50

Thanks all for blessing. Just had an ultrasound scan. Baby's heart is still beating strong, he/she is moving about so fingers crossed he/she is fine. They don't know the cause of bleeding but I will take more rest. Bean is measuring 11+4 so slightly bigger than I initially thought!

lurkingmurking · 20/02/2012 17:00

Misscoffee and macaroons yey for good scans!

Whatevertheweather · 20/02/2012 17:04

Yay Macaroons CoffeeNWine and Poppyjen for your strong beans. What a relief it must be to see them moving around.

Good luck to everyone else with scans over the next few days.

Not got my scan until next Thursday when I'll be 13+1 by my dates. Still being very very sick - does anyone know; does that mean everything is likely to be okay with bean? I'm trying to take it as a good sign!

MadMonkeys · 20/02/2012 18:05

Glad the scans all went well today - can't wait for mine, 2 weeks on friday.

Whatever - they say that strong ms means lots of pregnancy hormones and therefore a great chance of a sticky bean in there. My friend had three pregnancies - the two when she was very sick resulted in her two children. the one where she wasn't very sick ended in a miscarriage at 12 weeks. So that seems to back up the theory.

I actually slept for most of the night last night, which is a record for the last few weeks. I can't say I feel any better for it, but at least I wasn't lying awake for hours. Just ate the most delicious mango - perfectly ripe and scrummy.

york67 · 20/02/2012 18:21

Brilliant news re scans.
macaroons did you just go straight to hospital EPU? I rang midwife earlier and she told me I may need an early scan. Was told to ring surgery and they told me to ring for GP appointment tomorrow. They than have to decide whether I need a scan.
At least one more day of stress. Fact that I have no pain doesn't even reassure me as I had no pain initially when I miscarried before (mmc)
On a more positive!!!! note think sickness is back. Boobs aren't sore though.

rightontime · 20/02/2012 18:34

Yay so nice to hear good scan stories. Long may it continue.

quitcomplaining · 20/02/2012 18:37

Congratulations to those that has scans today. The 12 week scan really brought it home to us that we were going to he parents last time.

Sorry to hear about those experiencing some problems. Fingers crossed for good news.

Not much to report from me. We booked our summer holiday at the weekend. 2 weeks in Greece in June. Ill be 26 weeks so hopefully I won't be too big! Didn't really get too big with dd so I'm hoping for a similar bump.... We shall see!

I was speaking to a midwife friend over the weekend and when I told her my due date she laughed and said mid September is the busiest time of the year for midwifes on account of 40 weeks previous being the Xmas and new year week Grin

Loup23 · 20/02/2012 18:41

Hi, just checking in qucikly glad to hear good results macaroons and poppy and Fx fro york - all ok here, got the results then and there 1 in 9250 for the down's which was reassuring and still on for 1 Sept EDD - scary that that's it for scans now for 8 weeks..... Shock

Hope all other scans go well this week, will be checking in to see - and happy pancake day for tomorrow, how despite the sickness you all get to stuff yourself silly! x

funchum8am · 20/02/2012 19:11

So sorry to hear about those who are having problems and suffering MC, it is truly horrible. Be good to yourselves and take it easy. I have my FX for you.

I had an early scan today for reassurance and all was well! It's the first time I've ever had a scan other than to confirm a miscarriage and it was such a lovely experience. We even got seen before the appointment time as someone else didn't turn up and DH and I were 15 mins early. Measuring exactly right for 9+4 at 26.2mm and the heartbeat was clear to see. It's such a relief.

Now I can start stressing about the 12 week scan - I have heard about so many people having MCs between 10 and 12 weeks but at least all is well for now!

I also told my boss who was incredibly excited and went in for the hug! She did laugh at my very complicated thoughts about maternity leave and how to cover my role....she said to put thinking about all of that off for weeks and just look after myself. Phew!

Congratulations to all the other scanees!

Macaroons · 20/02/2012 20:07

york definitely call MW / EPU and say you're very concerned and see if they can fit you in tomorrow.

I can't tell you all how relieved I was when the sonographer showed me the heart beats and his/her movements during the scan. When I first saw blood, I was immediately in a panic mode and called MW. There wasn't alot of blood, but enough to freak me out. She didn't answer so I left a message, luckily she called back in the next few minutes. She said best go to the EPU at the hospital, she also gave me their number. So I called EPU and told them what happened, they said just go and visit, although they might not be able to scan me today. As I was walking towards the tube station / the hospital, my stomach was still aching, I wasn't sure if I should walk quicker, or if I should slow down... anyway... got there in the end, it's more like a clinic with quite a few people waiting to be seen. I'm #41 for the day. After maybe 2 hours I had my scan. So relieved now, although they still don't know the cause of the bleeding (I know it's not due to intercourse because my DH is away on a business trip and haven't seen him for days!)

Hope everyone's pregnancy will be smooth-sailing with no more bleeding.

Macaroons · 20/02/2012 20:08

PS I think the #41 means no. 41 patient since the morning. There were probably 10-15 people waiting when I turned up.

elliemay80 · 20/02/2012 20:18

It just struck me that my 12 week scan on Friday is on the due date of the baby I was due to have before MC last year. Will be a kick in the teeth if anything goes wrong...

funchum the sonographer told me at my 8 week scan that if you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks, there is a 95% chance that all will be well with the pregnancy so it's awful luck that you know a few people who have MC'd between 10 and 12 weeks.

All went well with my scan on Friday but it was small for dates by a few days or so (11+3 by LMP but could be a few days out due to late OV etc as well as cycle being a bit dodgy post MC in Sept- sonographer said size was closer to 11 weeks but saw HB again and bean was wriggling about). They couldn't do NT as was too small hence re-arranging scan.

Good luck to others.

MS has been as bad as ever so am taking this as a sign that the bean is growing.
