Omg, I'm thinking I might have to invest in some more leggings! Wore jeans today and really regretting it!! They are so tight (this pair, I normally have to wear a belt as they are loose!) Going shopping in town tomorrow so I'm thinking a trip to primarni might be in order!!

Right OBEM is on so night all! I'll see you all tomorrow!!

WaitingForLittleR · 08/02/2012 22:26

Evening all!

rightontime thanks for the reassurance re. the trip - you're probably right. Glad your sister agreed to go to the scan with you - I wouldn't want to go on my own either.
Hope littlespade and everyone else who is poorly feel better soon, and Loup congrats on the scan - sounds fantastic! I had a scan last time at 7+4 and this one at 9+4, and the difference was huge - can well imagine the difference one extra week would make!

I came home from work today to find a letter for my 12 week scan! It'll be on the 21st. I didn't think it would come so soon as I only saw the community midwife on Friday, so am delighted. Very excited too - that's less than 2 weeks away. I mean, after that I can tell people? This awful first trimester waiting will be over? Seems hard to believe. Need to have a think about this Downs screening meanwhile. Will be having pancakes after the scan - celebratory ones, hopefully. Someone else said the same thing - who has a 12 week scan on Pancake Tuesday?

WaitingForLittleR · 08/02/2012 22:33

Aha - after a search it was Rusulka! Rusulka - we're 12 week scan buddies! :)

Also I meant to say Dorita and EthelRed - I think you both have scans tomorrow - keeping everything crossed for you here. This week must have been awful - let us know how you get on.

sasslejaney84 · 08/02/2012 22:40

waiting I'm having mine the week after but will probaably have pancakes anyway!! I'm having all my downs tests at the same time as my 12 week scan! I've personally made the desicion that if my results are high and I'm offered further testing to not go any further, I'm pretty low risk as I'm 27 and im actually classed as a decent wieght, I don't see the point, if the baby is ill with something like downs, its not going to make me love him/her any less!

Its a personal choice though x

WaitingForLittleR · 08/02/2012 22:47

See, that's what I thought last time sasslejaney, but now I'm wondering if, given I don't think I could do the riskier diagnostic tests, it's worth doing the screening or not. If it comes back high risk, it still probably means nothing, but then you have to spend the rest of the pregnancy worrying about it? And God knows there's plenty to worry about with pregnancy anyway!

quitcomplaining · 08/02/2012 22:48

Omg OBEM was horrific tonight. That poor lady. And her poor fanny! What a whopper of a baby though.

Does anyone here have 2 or more dc already? I would be interested to know the weight differences between them. My mum had 4 of us and each weighed nearly 1lb more than the previous. But my aunt had 5 and they followed no pattern.

My dd was 7.11 and im assuming I can look forward to an 8lb+ baby.... Or maybe not...

Whatevertheweather · 08/02/2012 23:28

Congrats for a good scan Loup23 Smile

Dorita and Ethel will be thinking of you tomorrow and fx for good news and growing beans xx

Bakeroo and Littlespade hope you both feel better soon. Amoxcicillin (sp) is definitely safe in pregnancy.

I'm feeling a bit less sick down to 2-3 times a day now which is a blessing. 10 weeks today hoping to get my scan appt through any day. LittleR I am having downs screening even though I know I wouldn't risk amnio. My reasoning is if I have the nuchal screening and it's low risk (I'm 30 so am hoping it will be as it was in my previous 2) it will be one less thing to worry about. If it's high risk then I will prepare myself for having a baby with Down's which I think I could cope with.

Sassle am with you on the leggings!! I was eyeing up my maternity jeans today Smile

rightontime · 09/02/2012 07:58

I had very strong antibiotics when pregnant with DS1 before I knew I was pregnant, (the hospital test was negative Hmm ) and everything was fine so sure amoxycillin is fine.

Quitcomplaining Ds1 was 8lb2 and DS2 was 8lb3 so barely any difference between them.

My pregnant sister has her 12week scan today so FC for her that all is well.

I will be having the downs screening because one of the hormones that they test was low last time which can indicate that there may be growth problems and/or stillbirth later in pregnancy so while I was classed as low risk for downs I then needed extra monitoring for growth and and extra check on the placenta at 20weeks. As it was the baby died just after the 20week scan so the nuchal testing is going to be a really good indicator to me as to how well this pregnancy is likely to go and enable them to do extra monitoring if necessary. FWIW I never had it with my first 2 boys.

Loup23 · 09/02/2012 08:41

Thanks for the messages guys, can't stop smiling at the scan pictures. Flip I paid for a 10 week scan as we're going away this weekend and I just wanted to know all was ok, so worth the £100 and reassurance. I have the 12 week scan on 20 Feb and I am going private for that too as need to fit everything in around work...... Will then hopefully be able to go NHS once I have told work.

Good luck to dorita and ethelred for scans today. I will be offline until Monday but really hoping for positive news from you both.

Bakeroo have you got your 12 week scan date yet? Hope all goes well for you too. Sorry to hear your ill, get better soon.

Baby dust to all, nearly there with the first trimester.... Grin

MadMonkeys · 09/02/2012 09:38

Morning All. I had amoxycillin last time for dental probs - it was fine. Nowt to worry about.

We've decided not to have the Down's screening - we wouldn't have an amniocentesis if the results were high risk, so we'd just be worrying all the way through the pregnancy about something that probably wouldn't happen. So for us it's better not to have the screening. Tough decision though. How about the flu jab - anynone had/having that? My mw recommended it but pointed out that the surgery may well have run out of the vaccine by now as it's so late in the season.

Hotcupofteaplease · 09/02/2012 13:19

Just to echo the others who have said amoxycillin is fine; I had it at 28 weeks with my last pregnancy and no problems.

Congrats on the scan Loup23 ! Lovely to put your mind at ease before you go away.

We have opted to have the NT scan along with our 12 week scan; although I'm of the same opinion as most of you in that I don't think I would want to go for an amnio should the results come back as high risk. I didn't have an NT scan with DS, although I did have all of the bloods etc done.

Well, my nausea has disappeared completely, as have my sore boobs, although the tiredness is still there. I have my scan on Monday; I'm excited and yet unbelievably nervous

FX for rightontime's sister; hope all is well with her 12 weeks scan!

Dorita and Ethel; thinking of you both today, I really hope you both have positive outcomes x

sasslejaney84 · 09/02/2012 13:27

OBEM was awful last night, I was in tears watching it! I proper felt for the lady who had to have the forcep delivery, OMG, how hard do they pull with the forceps?? I had no idea, when I had my DD I didn't really watch any birthing videos etc as I didn't want to put myself off!! I've been avidly watching OBEM this time though!! Watched it last series too as me and the OH had just started trying!!

Only 19 days to go til my scan!

FX for everyone with scans today and hoping for growth for you both!! X

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 09/02/2012 16:43

Hi ladies, hope you're all ok. Well had my follow up scan today and as suspected, showed no growth. So game over for us. Sad Have booked in for ERPC tomorrow, but all depends on whether they have a bed as hosp is super busy with all the bad weather.
Feeling ok about it all; these things happen and have DD anyway to drive me up the wall keep me occupied! Good luck to the rest of you and all the very best for healthy, bouncing bambinos!!! Smile

sasslejaney84 · 09/02/2012 16:55

Oh ethel I'm so sorry to hear that!! Very sad news! Hope everything else goes well for you and that if you try again, your next PG goes well for you!

X

MadMonkeys · 09/02/2012 17:55

So sorry ethel. There seem to have been an awful lot of losses on this thread. I'm much mor nervous about my 12 week scan than I was with DD. We've not got a date for the scan yet, but I'm only 8+3, so it won't be for a while.

I cooked rogan josh from scratch today - never done that before - and had to unbutton my jeans to eat any. Hmmm, the old tum is definitely expanding.

I've been wearing the accupressure bands for 24 hours and I'm not sure if they're doing anything. ho hum.

oikopolis · 09/02/2012 18:00

Sorry to hear that ethel.

Bakeroo · 09/02/2012 18:42

Ethel I'm so sorry that you've had such sad news today, I'm thinking of you.
Thank you to everyone commenting on the antibiotics, it's made me feel better and now I'm just looking forward to getting better.
Loup23 my scan is on the 20th too! My booking in appointment is on Wednesday(15th) DH and I are planning on doing something to celebrate after the scan if all is well....it's been a long 12 weeks!
How nice that we're so close to this milestone....
Oh and how awful was OBEM last night?! The poor lady with the baby that got stuck, all that pulling and such a big baby...so frightening but a lovely couple and a happy ending despite all that :)
Thanks Dorita75 for the flowers and tea for us poorly peeps, very sweet!
Xxx

Poppyjen · 09/02/2012 18:48

Bakeroo and Loup23 my 12 week scan is 20th too - here's to virtual hand holding Grin

Ethel I am so sorry to hear that, be kind to yourself it is such a sad thing. Wishing you well for next time

oikopolis · 09/02/2012 19:09

Got an early referral to a lovely female obs today! Excited. My GP is slightly knobbish-slash-clueless (we have gp-led care here) so this is a relief.

12 week scan on same day as obs appt, 19 March. Yay!

Dorita75 · 09/02/2012 19:46

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry Ethel just not our time eh.

Not good news for me either. Only grown half a millimetre but no heartbeat and signs consistent with a silent miscarriage which is expected to happen over the next week. I can go to doc/hosp but I think I'm going to wait to see if things happen naturally, will see how it goes. Good thing is my uterus and ovaries are 'structurally sound!' so good for future and it's good to know we can get pregnant.

Like Ethel I feel surprisingly okay. The waiting since last week was worse emotionally, and I think I expected it (hope I don't break down tomorrow!!) I really feel like it just wasn't meant to be and I feel fine about that.

We have lots of lovely friends who I'm glad I told and are being brilliant. I hope you all have wonderful, happy pregnancies and bouncing babies and I know I'll be joining you, just a bit later now Smile

Hotcupofteaplease · 09/02/2012 19:58

Oh Dorita & Ethel; your posts have made me fill up, you're both being incredibly brave. I'm so sorry this has happened & I wish you both healthy and straight forward pregnancies next time. Lots of love x

sasslejaney84 · 09/02/2012 20:35

Oh dorita! I was praying both of you would get good results today, I really hope that you have safe and happy pregnancies next time!!

I've been silently panicking about my 12 week scan! I'm wondering if it might be bloody twins! My SIL is exactly a week ahead of me and she has bought me over a few bits and bobs this evening, and we are the same size!! Its ridiculous!! I'm not happy! I knew I had a definate bump as my mum pointed it out last week and its got bigger this week (I'm measuring myself lol!) But this is silly, my OH can't come to the scan, unfortunatly, so I'm gonna have to see if my best mate can, if not I'll have to see if my mum is able to! I don't want to go on my own!!

I'm watching junior doctors and they are all sat eating curry and now I want some!! My stomach is rumbling!! I'm so making myself some food now!!

Whatevertheweather · 09/02/2012 20:45

Oh Dorita and Ethel I'm so sorry for your both. You do sound incredibly brave. Best of luck to both of you lovely ladies xxxx

FloydieDoydie · 09/02/2012 21:26

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news Ethel and Dorita. Having been through it myself last year, I know how heartbreaking it is. Be strong and look after yourselves x

I'm having a bit of a panic myself tonight, no real reason - not bleeding or anything. I think I'm just hormonal and having watched two OBEM on the trot for myself all upset. DP is still out messing with his motorbike and I just want a cuddle. I did another test (15th!!!) and to me the line didn't seem as strong, although it popped up instantly. Given that I'm not feeling quite as sick as I did earlier, I'm getting in a tizz. I'm just so so scared I will lose this baby like last time. Sad

I rang and checked with the hospital and my booking appointment will be the week after next, when I'll be 9 weeks. I asked about an early scan, as my Dr requested one for me after the last mc. The consultant has signed off to say I don't need one (good news?). She said though that she would add it to my notes and the midwife might try and fit one in for me in the day, just to reassure me.

Im just so worried. Sad
