1,000 posts into the very popular September 2012 thread, here's a new one, for knicker checking, boob prodding, toilet rushing, oh and eating the entire contents of the fridge or McDonalds

Here's to our tiny beans and all the lovely ladies lost along the way.

Full steam ahead to booking in and positive scans aplenty.

rus that's not good for you personally, but you have to try your best to stay calm, I'm consultant led too, as I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 14 and have not had a fit for nearly 2 years (apart from one drunken night where I collapsed and apparently had a fit but that was down to alcohol and nothing else!!)

Well, so much has happened in the last two days!!

Welcome to the newbies!! Hope you all have happy and safe pregnancies!

Well, the pulling has intensified, and now really hurts if I do pull something, but I have a VERY low pain threshold so that could have something to do with it!!

My symptoms have been very hit and miss over the last few days but reading what everyone else is saying is making me feel a little better! Still eating like a horse though! Just had my tea and I really really fancied some southern fried chicken and we had a few pennies spare so we got a takeaway and I've gone through two portions of chips and 3 pieces! Was yummy but will have to try and be healthier tomorrow!!

Couldn't eat my breakfast this morning, I felt awful and its the first time MS has hit first thing in the morning!!

Has any one had itchy skin?? Mine feels like its on fire half the day!

quitcomplaining · 07/02/2012 20:31

It's so funny how we are all so occupied by junk food. We too had fish and chips tonight! Dp is loving all the takeaways I'm allowing through the door, normally eat pretty healthy.

Anyway in other news I had my scan today! It's not twins as was suspected. Phew! I'm now convinced it's a boy due to the hyperemesis which I didn't have with dd. I'm 8+2 so 4 days further than I first thought which is great. All is fine and we got to see the heart beating which is was wonderful.

It's amazing how quickly they must change. Our first 12 week scan with dd turned out to be 10+6 and the baby had arms, legs, head, abdomen. Yet at 8+2 it's still literally a blob with a heart in the middle!

sasslejaney84 · 07/02/2012 21:16

Wow great news quitcomplainin!! Very happy for you! My scan is on the 28th! This month is going soooo slowly!!

Next monday the midwife is coming over next monday so I've got that to look forward to, I've filled out everything I can on the paperwok she gave me, been that bored over the past few days I've had to! I'm litterally waiting for the 28th to come and then I'll be happy! As long as everything is ok!!

My OH has gone out this evening so its just me downstairs!! (My DD is in bed) so I've decided to bake!! A bit random but felt good!! The healthy eating is gonna have to come back soon otherwise I'm gonna be a whale by the time this peanut is born!!

WaitingForLittleR · 07/02/2012 21:43

ooh congrats quitcomplainin! And deep breaths Rus, you'll be fine.

Bit of an odd question for any of you ladies who have been pg before. Am in charge of organising a hen do for me and some girlfriends in early summer. We're an odd number, so one room will be a triple or a single. We were going to make it a triple, but now I'm wondering if I should do a single because by then I'll be 23 weeks, so there's a chance I'd need to cancel, and maybe I'll be up and down in the night and uncomfortable? I think I should be able to go at least; it's 5 nights in Greece. I've been asked to organise it as I'm a bridesmaid but can't tell them yet! Any advice from any experienced ladies?

MillontheFloss · 08/02/2012 08:14

So sorry threefortea

I too feel like my symptoms have gone. I am 10+1. I have a stinking cold though so perhaps this is masking the nausea. I am still off certain foods that I used to like which I am taking as a good thing.

12 week scan on Friday 17th (will be 11+3) Roll on!

Have told one friend so far but someone who is separate from all my other friends so seemed safe!

sasslejaney84 · 08/02/2012 09:31

milonthefloss I'm taking the amount of people on here that have also lost symptoms as a sign we all should be soon!

MS again this morning, there was me thinking I had got passed this! Worst thing is, it was on the walk back from school! Cue 3 people from the same street thinking I have either a hangover or MS!! Not good!!!

rightontime · 08/02/2012 09:48

WaitingforlittleR I would imagine you will be fine to go. I think the 2nd trimester is the one where you feel the best. You should be past all the nausea and Early tiredness by then but bump still wont be so big that you are worn out and uncomfortable. I would personally just go for the cheapest option. Saying that I have no idea on when it is ok to fly until so maybe check that out before you make any decisions.

Rusulka I'm sure that can't take away all of your options. Theres no reason why you can't have relaxation and aromatherapy, etc. I don't know about a water birth but can't see why not Hmm Sometimes you just have to be firm with what you want. The HCP will try and make you do what is easiest for them but you do still have options.

Sassle Congrats on the happy scan.

My sister has agreed to come to my first scan with me because it is quite a way from home and DP has to go to work. I am so relieved I burst into tears this morning when she told me she would come.

I feel rough this morning. So sick. I was sick at 5am and again a 8am. I had breakfast at 8.15 when I should have been going to school because I thought I ought to eat before attempting to do anything but I still feel just as bad. This is the worst I have felt so far Sad

LittleSpade · 08/02/2012 10:12

Hi everyone. Sorry for lack of posts since last week. I've been wiped out by proper flu and been in bed pretty much non stop since Sunday evening. Had awful temperature, cough, cold, site throat, headache, tiredness and weakness and also been totally off my food. On Sunday night I only managed to eat half a sausage, one roast potato and about a tablespoon of peas for dinner. Whilst yesterday was one slice of toast for breakfast, some melon for lunch and a few spoonfuls of thai broth for dinner. Every mouthful has had to be washed down with squash. Its even more odd that before the flu kicked in I was eating loads to avoid near constant nausea! Really hope everything is still ok and being ill and not eating isn't harming the baby. I've felt so guilty about the 1 paracetamol a day DH has been persuading me to have so I'll get out of bed and talk to him for a bit in the evenings.

LittleSpade · 08/02/2012 10:15

Try to stay calm Ruslka and maybe use it as an incentive to eat more healthily and exercise more when you feel up to it but I certainly wouldn't recommend any crazy diets.

Congrats Quitcomplaining on seeing the heartbeat and good news its not twins ;-)

pinpan · 08/02/2012 10:22

Just had to climb out of bed and devour half a packet of water biscuits with cheese (I'm not that lazy/bedridden, I promise, we're 13 hours ahead of the UK in NZ so I'm nearly in tomorrow already). Really wanted to keep going and see the whole packet gone but I am trying to exercise restraint. I can always get up and eat it in the middle of the night... DH is now excited because "it makes it more real when you do things you wouldn't normally do."

Good luck to everyone with scans/appointments etc!

flipflopper · 08/02/2012 10:55

Hi everyone,
congratulations sassle on your scan, it's amazing isnt it!

Threefortea so sorry to hear what youre going through, look after yourself.

Dare I say it, i am feelign slightly better! Still nauseaous, maybe i've got used to it now, but i havent been sick for a few day now. Boobs are really painful at the moment though.

I have just had lunch number one, spaghetti hoops on toast, which I am addicted to at the moment. Am trying to be a bit more healthy though, as I have a feeling I am piling the weight on already!

sasslejaney84 · 08/02/2012 13:34

I've not had my scan yet guys!! Your congrats are a few days early!

Thinking I may have a doze on the sofa for a bit as I'm shattered!

Feeling better this afternoon, felt better than I did this morning!!

quitcomplaining · 08/02/2012 14:40

Mmmm flipflopper spaghetti hoops. I havnt even thought about them in years. Now I HAVE to add them to my tesco order.

I have my booking in appointment this afternoon. Its all go now. Scan yesterday. Midwife today. Finally feels real that in 7 months we will have another wonderful child Grin

york67 · 08/02/2012 15:05

rusulka as others have said don't panic yet. You may still be able to have a water birth. I am in a similar situation to you weight wise. I have tried to cut out all the rubbish and just eat healithy. I am hoping that by doing this I won't gain much weight.
Although I am resigned to fact that I will probably end up with a csection as I have had 2 emergency ones previously. (If I make it that far. still early days)

rightontime · 08/02/2012 16:13

Oops sorry Sassle Congrats for the scan were meant for Quitcomplaining of course. Blaming it on the pregnancy brain lol

Loup23 · 08/02/2012 16:19

HI ladies, checking in to add some reassurance to those losing symptoms - I have started to feel less sick but had another scan today (10+4) and saw what really looks like a baby!! Two hands, two very active feet and a beating heart - hope that reassures some of you, it has helped me immensely!

x

sasslejaney84 · 08/02/2012 16:33

Ooh spaghetti hoops!! Sounds yummy!! have to put those on the shopping list for tomorrow!!

Having sausage and mash for tea! With mint sauce!! Nom nom!

I seem to be taking this thread to a little bit of a food diary!! Sorry guys lol!

Got a few comments on my walk to school and had to let slip the news to one of my good friends here! Not what I wanted but I know out secret is safe with her!!

flipflopper · 08/02/2012 16:51

Sorry sassle, must have got mixed up.
Actually, I have to confess, I had another lunch of spag hoops on toast at about 1pm!
I just love them!
Better than the rustlers micowave burgers I was addicted to last week Blush

flipflopper · 08/02/2012 16:53

ooh congrats on your scan loup. How come you got another scan, or was it your 12 week scan?

quitcomplaining · 08/02/2012 16:59

Back from midwife. Feeling a bit deflated. She was running 45 mins behind, which was a tad stressful with an 18 month running riot in the waiting room.

Then feel she rushed me through and didn't really listen to what i had to say. I have a choice of hospitals as im bang in the middle of two and before choosing which to give birth in i wanted to know if both would allow me to try for a vbac waterbirth as i know one def does. And her response was well you are classed a high risk and are much more likely to end up with another c section. She then went on to tell me I can elect another section. I was like erm no I really want to try vbac this time. The circumstances surrounding my previous emergency section were that I had meconium in the waters and baby got into distress so they decided it was best to go for a section. Obviously we did what was best as the time but it's not to say it's def going up happen again. I have left feeling like she wasnt really interested in my desire to try for a natural birth this time all going well and just sees me as another potential failed vbac statistic.Angry

She also asked other questions about previous pregnancy and birth one of which was how did you feed your daughter. I answered breast feeding for 6 months, then mixed for a month, then formula. She then said oh right why on earth did you stop at 6 months then If you were doing so well!!!

Bakeroo · 08/02/2012 18:32

Mmmm spaghetti hoops! I must get some.
Loup24 Congratulations! that's really reassured me....have been a little worried about lessening symptoms but am sure everything is ok....how exciting that it looks like a real baby now! we're exactly the same on dates so mine should too...woohoo :)
So I went back to work yesterday after being ill with cold/chest for a few days but this morning I woke up feeling worse and like I had a chest infection (I have asthma and suffer with them from time to time) so I broke and went to the doctors this afternoon. He said I had an acute chest infection and throat infection and said I shouldn't be at work. He's given me antibiotics and has signed me off for a week! I am very worried about taking antibiotics but he said these (amoxicillin) are safe and have been used for 50 years so I shouldn't worry. He said it's more dangerous not to treat it and risk it turning in to something more serious.
Has anyone else had to take antibiotics/ know anything about them? I'm worried but DH thinks it's fine and I should follow advice. Work won't be pleased that I've been signed off for a week either :(
Xx

Bakeroo · 08/02/2012 18:37

Sorry Loup23 I wrote Loup24!

Atlastadragon · 08/02/2012 18:40

Hi Bakeroo

Just to reassure you, I had an acute chest infection at about thirty weeks with dd and they said the same to me. Iirc, I possibly had to had to have more than one course, but couldnt swear to it.

Seeing as I'm here, I'll mention that aside from being tired, and slightly sore boobs, I don't really have any symptoms. Am nine weeks this week, which is the stage at which my last pregnancy ended (discovered at twelve week scan), so am taking nothing for granted. Being booked in this Friday.

Bakeroo · 08/02/2012 18:46

Thank you Atlastadragon that's good to hear.
Good luck with your scan, it must be frightening but stay positive, I'm sure everything will be ok this time. Goodness knows we'll all be very relieved when everything goes well at our 12 week scans, it can't come soon enough. Never had to have patience like this before!

Dorita75 · 08/02/2012 20:55

Here's a big bunch of flowers Thanks and Brew to everyone with nasty colds and infections (if you're okay with tea, I've gone right off it!!)

Lovely scan news Loup23 am hoping for good news tomorrow too. It's been a week since early scan, hoping tomorrow for good news that there has been some growth. My friend is convinced all will be good because for the first time ever, we've been offered free tickets to V festival and it'll be typical that I'll be too fat to go....here's hoping.

Good luck Ethel xx
