StarlightMcKenzie · 27/01/2012 18:22

Cocodamol Is codeine and paracetamol. P is fine to take at any time during pregnancy. C can interfere with lung development when the lung development happens, so from around 36 weeks ish (but advice is generally not to take in 3rd trimester, but even then it isn't THAT harmful)

But we women don't need to worry our pretty little heads about the details. Just follow simple patronising blanket advice as it is all for our own good.

thedogwalker · 27/01/2012 18:23

Congratulations Rhibutterfly on your baby girl. Ceeej how did your scan go? Come on we all want to know Grin.

StarlightMcKenzie · 27/01/2012 18:27

So bribed sonographer and found out we're having a boy, already named Rowy by dd Hmm

Got posterior placenta which I'm mighty relieved about and explains why the strong kicks.

ceeej · 27/01/2012 18:36

yay for your scan rhib mine's a girl too :) so excited about discussing names now we know. Had a bit of a traumatic day, I tripped up on the pavement jogging over to the park earlier and proper panic set in (not at all like me, I'm normally the calm rational one in an emergency) because I was convinced I'd landed square on the bump. Phoned the midwife and she did a great job reassuring me that baby is nice and cushioned and if I had no pains it was more than likely OK. Walked the rest of the way to meet my PT and she gave me a big hug and took me for coffee until I calmed down a bit. Having examined the state of my knees and elbows we decided that I must have actually landed on those and we did a bit of powerwalking instead of any training. Was so relieved when the sonographer got the heartbeat straight away though.

tdw glad you've got antibiotics and managed a bit of rest.

CathFin might be odd of me but I don't really mind rainy hols, we're heading up to a cottage on Skye in April and I plan to spend plenty of time sat in front of the fire reading and knitting with little walks when/if the rain lets up.

itchy your weekend sounds fab, the weather in London today was really lovely, crisp but sunny, fingers crossed it's like that in Wales all weekend for you. Also, loving your graphs, can't believe I didn't think to record the circumference. I have a plot of weight gain which shows one major growth spurt so far and a photo (same time/position/clothes) every week since week 12.

kveta the babies were all in an uncooperative mood today! She was quite happy to show her bits but she's upside down and facing backwards so they couldn't do any of the head measurements because my pelvis was getting in the way. Tried prodding and wobbling the bump, lying on my side, jumping up and down, rocking on all fours and drinking hot chocolate but all she did was wave her arms around. Eventually I got sent outside for a walk around the block which moved her up a bit, sonographer had just finished taking the measurements when she rolled back to where she had been.

chateau I've only felt kicks really low down too, I have an anterior placenta which probably explains it. Also I felt a few today whilst scanning, turns out they're actually punches not kicks!

Starlight yay for your little boy, Rowy is an interesting name :)

ecstatica · 27/01/2012 22:09

Hi girls,
Loving all the scan news -- are those who know sex of baby going to put it by their stats?
Starlight Good to see 'see' you. Congratulations on a little boy eh?! :)
TDW - I've been taking Co-codamol for weeks now, and often more than two a day. I suffer with SPD and have had severe pain with the sphincter of oddi (can only describe it as similar to gastritis pain or gallstones) and was assured by GP that it was absolutely fine. Took them with my last 2 DC and they were both healthy boys, no probs. HTH I hope you feel better though ear infection and looking after DS not likely to be much fun sending you hugs and Flowers
Ceej - Glad you were alright!
Have probably missed a few of you as usual but have read all posts and enjoy all the latest news.

Me and the DC are all still very much virused out, can't wait to feel better again and breathe! Please bring on the spring/summer -- thank God we're having summerish babies!!!!
Roll on Roll on

ecstatica · 27/01/2012 22:10

Whoops, yes meant to add and Ceej congrats on a wee girl, how lovely :)

10000fireflies · 27/01/2012 22:11

Dalry have you tried kiwis, a couple of activia yogs (without aspartamane) and psyillium husk tablets every day? Have found similar keeps everything, errrr, moving smoothly!! Grin
TDW glad you?re feeling a bit better. Hopefully the antibiotics are starting to work.
CathFin sorry to hear you?re still poorly too. Hope you?re better soon.
Hells enjoy your weekend away.
Itchy sounds like you and my DH would get along like a house on fire! He is also doing a spreadsheet and every morning gets the tape measure out to show me how bit the baby is, percentage through pregnancy etc etc. Quite sweet really!!
Starlight v impressed you have a PT. Puts my two gentle swims and a stroll round the park this week to shame!!
Purple annoying that your MW is being a cow. I think we shall have to set up a naughty step for all these health ?professionals? who are not coming up to standard.
rrraay have to thank you for the recommendation for the Lansinoh cream. Got some yesterday and have found nips much less itchy. Grin.

Congrats to Kveta, Ceeej and Rhibutterfly - three more girls! And congrats also to Starlight little boy.

Wishing you all a peaceful and comfortable night. FF xx

Dalrymps · 27/01/2012 22:22

Congratulations ceej and rhi on your baby girlsGrin things are getting more even nowSmile

fireflies lol did I mention my poo troubles on here or did you see me complaining on the TMI thread?Grin I just had an awful time on the loo. I took ages and I was actually sweating.. Urgh.. Awful. I haven't tried your suggestions but will have to! I need to try something! It was getting a bit better but I feel like its gotten worse again and am wondering if the calcium and vit D I've started taking is effecting itHmm

Sorry for the long and frankly tmi moan!

Dalrymps · 27/01/2012 22:24

Knew I'd forgotten people! Kveta congrats on your little girl and Starlight congrats on your little boySmile

fireflies Lansinoh is magic!! I heard a rumour the other day it's only £8 on amazon so am off to check!

Dalrymps · 27/01/2012 22:26

Ooh it's £7.31, I might get some whilst it's on offer!Smile

10000fireflies · 27/01/2012 22:37

Dalry I saw your post on TMI thread which made me really feel for you, but it was you saying this am ''feel so full if that makes sense. I suspect the constant constipation doesn't help'' that made me mention it. Not good! Have you tried the recovery position??? ROFL. Seriously though, have a load of those yogs and psyllium husks, as much fruit as you can manage, esp like apples, bananas and kiwis, and also a good, dense bread. I found a really nice organic loaf at Sains which is good and fibrey with nuts and seed in. Don't have to choke it down. Great for brekkie. I had to make a real effort in First Trim - made tropical fruit salad - really yum. Found it helped a lot. Am not suffering as badly as you, but every couple of days I realise I haven't been eating so much of the good stuff so go back to yogs etc. Happy pooing!!! Grin

Ecstatica sorry to hear you're suffering too. Is true though, we're lucky to be having summer babies. Hopefully we can have a few virus free months with them before the weather turns.

Right, really off now! Night!!

Dalrymps · 27/01/2012 23:42

Lol firefliesGrin I did actually have to adopt the crash position. Oh the shame. I will have to make more of an effort diet wise. I am terrible at remembering to eat fruit, a couple of clementines and grapes is all I've been having lately. This is is, operation constipation!! Night all x

CathFin · 28/01/2012 06:50

Dairy - watch out with bananas they make me worse not better! I'm still taking the lactulose and it does seem to help me.

Congrats on all the scans - very exciting! Going to add myself to the list!

ooh, congrats on more girls ceej and rhi, and your boy starlight! ceej, sounds like you had an eventful day yesterday!! glad it all ended ok!

DH and i have been discussing names again, as he isn't in love with the name emilie. DS wants to call her jack. or pingu. dh admitted that he didn't love ds's name either, so i have been rolling my eyes a lot :o

am typing with one hand btw as ds is on the other, hence bad spelling etc!

hope you all have good weekends, i am spending mine cleaning our squalid pit of a house! fub!!

OP posts:
Rrrrayray · 28/01/2012 08:56

On computer rather than phone for once, so thought about time i posted a decent reply.

butterfly congrats on your little girl. Seems to be evening out boys & girls now.

ceej congrats on your girl too. Sorry to hear about your trip. I'm sure that shook you up. But like your midwife said, they are pretty well cushioned in there. Well done you for keeping up the PT, i've chucked in my Gym blanket, haven't time, cant be bothered, lol, just doing as much walking as possible.

fireflies Glad the cream helped. If you plan to BF, it'll be a god send!!!

daryl i too saw the TMI pregnancy poo thread, and thought it was on the large part quite funny. I haven't Yet been hit by Constipation this time round, but suffered last time with it. If you can stomach Prune juice, it does wonders, if not...Pear juice is also pretty good. Activia yogs, dried apricots, apples, Green Innocent smoothies (avoid things with banana in, has the opposite effect) Hope it gets better. Oh, and of course plenty of water.

Thrush better, got cansten again. Just a bit baffled by it all, as never been a sufferer. Feel badly for anyone that has it reguarly. It's miserable.

Dalrymps · 28/01/2012 09:26

Morning ladiesSmile

Thanks for the banana tip that a few of you have mentioned, will steer clear!

Rrrrra I really feel for you with the thrush. I had to take some strong antibiotics once when I had a throat infection and then I kept getting reoccurrent thrush for a year after thatSad it really is miserable. Hope it stays away for you this time..

Have started taking some lactulose to kick start my systemGrin Prune juice is great, I took it every day last time. I was drinking it but ran out and wasn't too bad so didn't buy any more, think I need to get some.

Hope you're all having a nice weekend do farSmile

10000fireflies · 28/01/2012 09:33

I didn't know that about bananas either!! Good job I don't like them, otherwise I could have been in real trouble!!! Grin

Rrrrayray · 28/01/2012 10:00

I've not long known about the banana thing either. When i was with my friend in america in the summer, they refer to the BRAT diet for someone with a runny tum, to STOP constipation.

Bannana
Rice
Apple sauce (american thing)
Toast.

The thinking is these things are bland and low in fibre i think. So if your blocked up, i'd steer away from them!

Brekie cereals such as weetabix and bran flakes are good as well as fresh & dry fruit and live yog.

Have been doing a little name research as hubby and i don't seem to see eye to eye on names.

I liked Caleb and Jude, he liked Jacob and Charlie. I don't dislike either of his, i just don't want to use them, and vice versa. Our DD is called Esme, so i want something similiar in the sense of being nice (in my opinion) and unique without being odd, and people having difficulty (adults) working out how to spell it.

Came accross Madison this morning, which tradtionally is a boys name (son of maud)but i believe in recent years its been more of a girls name. Wanted opinions (honest ones, wont shoot you if you dont like/think girly) of it as a boys name?

millyv · 28/01/2012 10:27

Morning all!
Just a quick post to say congrats to everyone who has found out the flavour of their little one, can't believe I still have to wait until a week Monday!
Didn't have a great nights sleep last night, keep waking up about 3am and it takes ages to get back to sleep- also woke up with pins and needles in my left arm which freaked me out for some reason!
Off to the shops today to try and find some maternity clothes, I've got some tops but need to find some skirts or trousers as I don't think legging will cut it in Dubai every day!
Hope everyone has a great day!
Xx

violets · 28/01/2012 10:28

Congrats to all who've had their scans and know what they're having Smile

Mine's on Tuesday so getting really excited. We're not finding out til the big day though.

Was getting some really big kicks last night and got my OH to feel, and YES he felt baby kicking for the very first time Grin Yay Grin It was a lovely moment.

Baby was also wide awake kicking and punching this morning, so decided to watch my tum while lying in bed - and to our surprise we could all see my tum jumping about Smile. Am 20 weeks on Monday, so give it a try when baby is going for it in there. Its lovely to see the movements. Remember it being really freaky when baby gets bigger and you can see it rolling right across your tummy.

To dalrymps and all those others with constipation - whatever you do, no straining!!! The resulting piles you can get (in my horrid experience last time) were almost as painful as labour pains when needing the lav. Needless to say, have been on the prune juice this time! Seems to make me fart for England though...TMI...

Miniangel · 28/01/2012 12:23

congrats on your girls ceej and rhi and your boy starlight

Ceej I hope you are feeling better. How is your Phd going?

violets moving tummy already. wow I am Envy

Dalry I am with you in constipation stake. I get tears and they are so painful when I go.

I have had a busy last few days - met up with my friends who have babies and are on maternity leave. It was so much fun playing with a 9 month old boy and a 5 month old girl. They are so cute. Feel better now I have been able to go out and about.

Finalising the venue for my baby shower means lots of tasting food at nice restaurants and that's fun too. I am going to have a Sunday lunch time party on 1st april so really excited.

We have decided to go for a 4d scan and now looking at options. Mamma thanks for posting the groupon discount coupon.
