TDW I was prescribed cocodamol when pregnant with DS2. I had a kidney infection and paracetamol did nothing so the DR gave me cocodamol. He said its fine in pregnancy.

Warlin · 27/01/2012 10:52

TDW try not to worry. I doubt very much that a one off would do any harm...they prob don't recommend using it constantly but a couple of pills will hardly hurt LO. Try not to worry, GPs are very inconsistent...some will be great and reassuring and others not.

Try not to worry.

10000fireflies · 27/01/2012 11:01

TDW thinking about what you said, about terrible earache, wonder if you have an ear infection as well as everything else. That GP sounds like a total a*&e. If you can manage to get back to a diff GP today might be a good idea. In any case, if you have nasty coloured gungey snot, the sinusitus is because of an infection so you should have anti-bios. No amount of Olbas oil or steamer is going to fix that. Hope you feel better soon.

Re movement, I'm not feeling much at the mo either girls. Scan Wednesday. Have just decided to take an optimistic view.

Florin sorry you're having such a tough time!!! Envy

At least the sun is shining here today.

thedogwalker · 27/01/2012 11:10

Hi all, thanks so much, I was just worrying so much. Yes I have got an ear infection in both blooming ears, just my luck. The Dr did give me antibiotics, which I hope to God kick in soon, I was just hoping he would be more reassuring about the cocodamol I had taken. Thank you all for your kind words and thanks Fireflies reading that link, has helped cheer me up. I think I was just at a low point, with very little sleep, poorly DS and I was in agony, I just let everything get on top of me. Roll on next month when DH comes home for 2 weeks. I need some TLC.

10000fireflies · 27/01/2012 11:25

Oh, TDW, glad you have some anti-bios. You're bound to feel really rotten if you're so poorly and on your own. Hope you can snuggle up on the sofa in a duvet, with some rubbish TV on. Here's a Brew , some Thanks
and lots of vitual chocolate and hugs. Get better soon. xx

emblosion · 27/01/2012 13:45

Sending you a virtual hug TDW as others have said, don't worry about the cocodamol, it does get prescribed for things like spd and back pain in pregnancy and it is relatively safe to take. I am sure that taking 2 pills as a one off will be absolutely fine. Id like to poke your GP in the eye, at least he gave you antibiotics tho, I hope they kick in soon and you feel a lot better x

CathFin · 27/01/2012 13:48

TDW some doctor's really are not very sympathetic - don't think you need to worry at all.
I'm hoping what I have doesn't get worse.
10000 - I can't smell Olbas oil anymore - in fact I can't smell or taste anything really!
Florin I am very jealous of you - we are debating a trip to Ireland in April as its my FIL's 70th and they live in Dublin. Rainy holiday anyone??

My DD was 8lb4oz and DS was 9lb4oz - hoping I'm not going in sequence and this one will be a pound heavier! Think I will probably take a newborn set of clothes and a 0-3month set to hosp just in case!

Kayzr · 27/01/2012 14:01

CathFin I am also hoping I am not going in sequence. DS1 was 7lb 2oz and DS2 was 10lb 5oz. I think I would have heart failure if I had a 13lb 7oz baby Grin

Helssjbells · 27/01/2012 14:05

Hello ladies!

Thanks for all your messages yesterday, it really helped. I'm feeling alot better today, I spoke to a midwife last night and she said we're bound to get oodles of muscular pain (which can seem pretty worrying) but actually it's because we've got soooo much going - which is good news!

TDW - Don't worry about cocodamol - when I was ill with gout, my friend who's a GP said it was perfectly safe to take them. She took them quite often when she was pregnant (bad migraines) and is now a Mummy to two lovely, HEALTHY little girls.

Sending big cheers to all that it's Friday afternoon! Good luck to everyone with scans - I'm not until next week and it does seem like such a long time to go.

itchyfootedlady · 27/01/2012 14:27

TDW i am sending you some major sympathy. Sinusitus and earache are hell... and being on your own for it is worse. If this was RL i'd be nipping round and looking after you but you'll have to make do with a virtual Brew.

Anyone not feeling kicks look away now... mine is either going crazy in there or I have some kind of internal persistent twitch! I actually had to get up from my desk and walk bouncily around the room for 5 minutes untuil it'd go back to sleep yesterday so i could concentrate. Any second time mums out there, is that normal or have i got some kind of hyperactive fetus?? last week i felt a few odd kicks, then nothing for about 4 days and now its all the time for the last 3/4 days. must be to do with how they are lying?

Florin i'm very jealous of yoru sunshine. enjoy it.. get all yor vitamin D the good way and not in horse sized pill form :)

DH and i are off to wales for some walking this weekend... and the forecast doesn't say rain! Very excited as we have both been very stressed at work this week and could really do with some rest time away from the office. Sometimes I love that we work together and can talk about stuff and other times I just wish it was easier to get away from it all!

MammaInTheMaking · 27/01/2012 15:03

itchy another one here with a hyperactive baby. On Wednesday i was starting to get really uncomfortable with the constant kicking, it's like it was trying to break out! I had to get up from my desk numerous times to walk around to try and settle it. Didn't work! It finally quietened down in the afternoon. Since then the kicking has been regular and strong, plus my belly is BIG! I'm usually a size 8-10 and this is my first baby. Am really hoping it doesn't come out the size of a toddler.....

itchyfootedlady · 27/01/2012 15:10

mamma glad its not just me. Isn't it surreal trying to bounce a baby to sleep thats still inside you?! my work colleagues asked what I was doing bouncing around the office... and looked at me like I was that crazy lady on the bus imagining things when i told them! :)

My belly is 7.5" bigger round the middle than before pregnancy now, but still only put on 2lbs. Scientific conclusion is that baby is made of Helium. Can you
tell i'm an engineer... i actually have a graph tracking my weight gain, bump gain and plotting it against average baby length gain and weight gain to see which tracks trhe baby most closely. Also like to see when i have growth spurts! I am a GIANT GEEK.

Kveta · 27/01/2012 15:10

hi all

TDW I am FURIOUS on your behalf at that GP. what a colossal bellend. Why do such bastards enter the medical profession FFS? anyway, please do not worry, the problem with most medications is that ethical testing on pregnant women is not really available, so much evidence that drugs are safe in pregnancy tends to be anecdotal, or based on animal studies. It doesn't mean that drugs are unsafe in pg, just not fully tested. Drug companies need to cover their backs, so say 'don't take it' when what they mean is 'we have no evidence that this will be an issue, but don't want to take the risk of you being the first person to find it problemmatic and suing us'. Much of the real worry is in the 1st trimester anyway, we are all fairly safe now!!

ceej hope your scan goes well today! Mine was a bit mad - baby was still lying in a silly position, so the sonographer had me lying on the bed almost on my head, as she tipped the bed so far up to get baby to move. no joy there, so I had to bounce my bum up and down a few times, then roll onto either side, and still no luck! So I was sent away on a walk to drink some diet coke, and came back to a different sonographer, who also had to tip me about, but finally baby cooperated, and all looks well. still no boy bits, so we are saying it's a girl!!

will be back later, just indignant on TDWs behalf and wanted to check in!!

OP posts:
Warlin · 27/01/2012 15:16

Envy of all the kicks...mine have stopped again...have felt nothing for the last few days. I am 20 weeks today...surely they should be regular by now...?

Scan on Monday so trying to stay positive and hope that maybe the placenta is at the front or something..it's lovely when they kick and so stressed now that it's stopped :(

ChateauMargot · 27/01/2012 15:35

Where do you feel the kicking? I get the odd bubble where my bump is, but most of the motion I feel (which could just be air or indigestion!) is lower down, just below the bump...

itchyfootedlady · 27/01/2012 15:44

chateau mine is all down below the bump too and feels a bit like a nervous twitch... but that was exactly where the mdwife was feeling the heartbeat and hearing LO kicking away and she said it was kicks i was feling when i pointed out where. i reckon your indigestion is the baby :)

Warlin maybe its facing the other way? Mine disappeared for days and then reappeared?

ChateauMargot · 27/01/2012 15:49

itchy, that's good to hear! Hurrah for little indigesto-baby ;)

CathFin · 27/01/2012 15:51

itchy I think mine might be kicking me in the back rather than the front - the only time I think I feel anything its really down very low which is odd as I have a lot of bump up top (what the hell is in there???).
Pregnancy is flipping weird!

Warlin fingers crossed its all fine.

Good luck for the scans today! Kveta Congrats on your girl!

ChateauMargot · 27/01/2012 15:52

My bump also seems to be creeping further north, as I now seem to have expanded around the bottom of my ribcage. If it continues at this rate, pretty soon there won't be any space at all left between my boobs and belly Shock

ChateauMargot · 27/01/2012 15:52

Cath that's exactly what I'm wondering!

thedogwalker · 27/01/2012 17:04

Hello all, Thanks so much for all the hugs and thoughts, I managed to get a bit of sleep this afternoon whilst DS was napping and I feel better for it.
To those of you who are now saying they can feel nothing but the LO kicking, I have been saying this for weeks, we worry like mad that we can't feel them and then wham, they are kicking and poking us all the time. Welcome to the mad house Grin. Remember your days of no kicks fondly when your LO is running on your bladder, or even better, once they have turned, have put their feet underneath your rib cage and the only way I can describe it, is they sort of kick out against your lower ribs giving a painful twanging sensation.

For those of you who are still getting the odd kicks, which includes me at the moment, ENJOY it, it won't last long and then it's kicks all day and all night. When I was pg with DS1 he slept through the day and kicked his way through the night, which made me a very tired bunny happy bunny.
Chateau and CathFin by the end of pg there will be very little difference between bump and boobs Smile

take care all xx

BlueAndRedMakePurple · 27/01/2012 17:15

Anterior placenta here-as confirmed by scan, am 20+5 and the kicks are just starting to get stronger, but god they are low down-I'm surprised he hasnt fell out yet Grin. My bump is also rather large considering how low he feels.

I met my MW today-she's a bit of a cow Sad, this might be DC4 but doesnt mean I'm not bothered and therefore you shouldn't act all disinterested Angry.

I have taken co-codomal under medical advice for migraines during pregnancy and my friend was prescribed it for SPD, so TDW in my opinion-your doctor is a knob!

rhibutterfly · 27/01/2012 17:55

tdw what a stupid doctor for worrying you so much when your already low i took cocodomol when having my first DD and she absolutely fine (thanks)

had the scan this afternoon, everything fine, all ok and i'm having another little girl :)
