Hi all, MillyV Enjoy your Hols, I am so Envy
Mini and Amethyst Good luck for your scans tomorrow, hope our LOs are in the correct position.
SSC Congratulations on your boy, Fluffy and Itchy congratulatiosn on your girls Smile
Pickwick / Kveta I must admit when I first read your thread, I thought who are you?????, Nice name change.
Dalrymps Hope the sciatica improves and you feel less exhausted. I too suffer from the sciatica so you have my sympathies.
Callememama I know you are having a scan as I type, hope the LO is behaving and you log on soon to tell us all about it.
Well after having the painc attack the other week, after taking one co-codamol, after which you lovely ladies cheered me up and assured me it was ok. Well I'm still suffering from my ear infection, so went to see my normal GP who has prescribed more antibios and guess what some..... co-codamol. She said it was perfectly ok in low doses and not to worry. So I am hoping that I will get my hearing back soon, as the infection has caused near total deafness and I still have no sense of smell, which isn't a bad thing Grin.
Hope everyone is well, take care xx

Warlin · 07/02/2012 16:33

Good luck to all the scans tmw.

TDW I knew all would be ok :) Some GPs are so cautious..saw a programme last night where a woman tool 68 paracetamol (overdose) while 27 weeks preg and the baby was fine...taken stright from her mind you. Hope the infection gets better soon.

Florin glad you got home ok. Going back to work is horrible.. I'm hormonal too...even more so than normal Grin

the viewers on the house were no good last night but have more lined up for tmw...just so fed up with cleaning/ tidying and then they don't want it....argghhhh

Feeling rotten here. Got a sore throat and chest and still can't move my neck after lying on it funny last night :( The dog is at daycare so at least no walking to do...a hot bath and relaxing night ahead for me. Can't imagine how I'd cope if I'd kids to look after Shock

Miniangel · 07/02/2012 17:51

Welcome rachyroodle
SSC Congratulations on your boy.Glad that homebirth seems like a viable option.
Fluffy Congratulations on your girl
Itchy Congrats on your girl. I have extreme hormonal moments too, crying or being sad over little things. I guess it's just being pg.
Warlin hope you feel better soon and today's buyers turn out to be the one.
Kveta/Pickwick love the new name. Was wondering who you are when I initially read the post.
Florin glad you are home safe. How was your trip?
TDW funny about the co-codamol.

I am in the process of moving hospitals as we moved houses in Dec and just got another anomaly scan appt from my new hospital on 14th feb so wondering what to do. My gp said to keep the old hospital appt and my DH took leave tomorrow so we are def going to that one. It's weird as I have got the scan appt from my new hospital without having the booking one.

I have started working from home this week after a long period of being ill so it's weird but good in a way.

SpecialJK · 07/02/2012 18:06

glad to hear everyone's scans went well. I'm going to echo all miniangels comments Smile

I've been working myself up to a frenzy today on this low lying placenta thing. It's anterior too. I think it's because they just said, oh, its low lying, come back at 32 weeks. But I don't know if I should stop doing anything??? Google is the devil. Should I be stopping exercise and/or sex? Looking at my notes my fibroids are growing too, it says one only 15mm from OS? anyone know what that means? Not scheduled to see the midwife to 7th March and I'm starting to stress. Hoping that I manage to speak to her tomorrow as I don't think I can wait till then

Due to fly to New York in 2 weeks, called the doctor on Monday to get a permission to fly, surprise surprise he's not called back, so again I need to chase. I hope I'm still OK to fly! Bit hacked off he didn't call back as the receptionists left a message. Can the midwife issue this?

DH looked in shock last night when I told him sex might be off the menu....Shock

Anyone has previous experience of this?

ThePicKvickPapers · 07/02/2012 18:11

Special, why do you need permission? Should only ne an issue after 34 weeks or so? And don't worry unless you have been told to! If sex was not recommended tou would have been told! Back later, battling toddler until bed at the mo!

SpecialJK · 07/02/2012 19:37

Virgin Atlantic want permission from 27 weeks. They said if I'm showing it's best to have it so I don't have an argument about how many weeks I am. Don't think the sonographer will give me advice, and I don't see the midwife for 5 weeks, so not sure if I shouldn't do anything in the meantime

ThePicKvickPapers · 07/02/2012 19:57

oh that's shit about VA. Oh well, maybe midwife can help, but Doctor will be able to as well. You have 2 weeks, you'll be fine :)

with the low lying placenta, seriously - if it was considered an issue, you would have been told! It may be more of a problem later in the pg, but tbh you'll have such a huge bump by then, sex will be the least of your worries :o

can you call the community midwife for advice tomorrow though? that would make you feel better, I'm sure!

DS has just spent an hour shrieking and screaming because his evil mother had the audacity to expect him to sleep. Was sitting in his room trying to keep my temper, but luckily DH is home now and dealing with him so the risk of infanticide has dropped a bit. Bloody toddlers, gah!! And now I need some dinner!

thedogwalker · 07/02/2012 20:00

Hi all
Special I am sure the Docs would have said stop doing,........ if they thought it would help and remember the placenta can move between now and birth, so don't worry too much hun.
I know some of you have had private scans, can any of you recommend the company, team you wnet to? As DH has been away for both I want to book one for when he's home in 2 weeks time, so that he too can see the LO.
Hope everyone is well, take care xx

Kayzr · 07/02/2012 20:08

TDW I used Babybond. They have scan places all over the country. I bet you and your DS can't wait to see him. Smile

thedogwalker · 07/02/2012 20:33

I'm not going to tell DH until the day, it's going to be a surprise Grin

ceeej · 07/02/2012 20:34

hey hey, glad everyone's getting themselves on the list with scans finally out of the way.

Special I've been told the same for my flight out to Geneva soon, basically it's easier to have the letter than end up having an argument over how many weeks you are, was told the midwife could issue the letter though so that might be worth a try. Also, I'm sure doc/midwife/sonographer would have mentioned if exercise/sex were off the menu, try not to worry too much.

TDW How exciting that your DH is nearly back, fantastic idea to have another scan so he can see the LO, can't remember where you are in the country, I had mine at the Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley Street, all the sonographers have been lovely but only useful if you're in London.

PicKvick hope your DS has managed to calm down a bit, makes me a bit scared to think we have toddler tantrums to look forward to!

TheLittleMe · 07/02/2012 21:05

Another vote for Babybond, they can fit you in super quick for appointments, and have reasonable prices. They give you a 4d sneak preview with their standard 2d scans, and on both occasions I had a scan with them, the 'sneak preview' went on for a good 5 minutes!!
I wouldn't personally recommend MyUltraBaby, only because I found them very unflexible with dates, and found the sonographer pretty insensitive. I had a scan at what I thought was 7 weeks, only to be told that there was no fetal pole, just an empty sac and very small yolk sac, and not much hope that anything would develop (even though I told her I was unsure of dates). I know a lot of people really rate them though!
Still feeling huge here, have ordered a pregnancy pilates dvd to try. Was really fit and going to the gym 4 times a week before I found out I was pregnant, and have LITERALLY just sat on my arse for the last five months piling biscuits and pizza into my mouth!

TeaandHobnobs · 07/02/2012 21:24

Lovely to hear your scan news SpecialJK, millyv, Kayzr, ellybett, SeriouslyStrongCheddar, FluffyMitchell
And good luck for tomorrow miniangel and AmythestMoon
This is all getting so exciting!
By the way, itchy - an engineer? Choir? Are we the same person?? Confused Grin

I?d been getting a little worried as bump went quiet on Sunday/Monday Sad but today he has been back with a vengeance! Went to a friends? engagement party on Sunday night, which was also an ?outing? of my pregnancy to a lot of my friends from uni, and another couple who were there also got engaged that morning ? so lovely to share exciting news with friends Smile
Just caved and bought dark chocolate hobnobs at the supermarket, and have scoffed about 7 Blush naughty

Ooooo and I spotted a mamas and papas moses basket in the window of the charity shop at the end of my road ? what are your ladies? thoughts on second hand moses baskets? Would I just need a new mattress?
Also, is anyone thinking of going to the baby show?

Right, the cat is whining/trilling at me, and having fed him and given him milk, I don?t know what he wants now? I think he is trying to get me into training Hmm

(sorry, total stream of conciousness post there Blush)

Dalrymps · 07/02/2012 21:26

Hi all, sorry didn't reply earlier. Work wasn't too bad tonight. They did seem to give me lighter dutiesSmile I work in an elderly residential home, on my shift we put the residents to bed which invokes dressing, washing, toileting and some lifting etc. Anyway I seemed to be an extra on the shift tonight so I just did the dishes from tea, laundry then made all the suppers. Hopefully I'll get to to that more often cause its less strenuous than the helping to bed bit.

Not back in till sat now. Just considering a trip to Tesco to stock up on creme eggs (am currently addicted to themGrin)

violets · 07/02/2012 21:33

special my routine apt with my meds consultant reassured me that there was only about a 5% chance of my low anterior placenta staying there til the end. He said sex may cause bleeding, but didn't tell me to abstain. Just to report any sort of bleed straight to the hospital, which makes sense, to be on the safe side.

Not sure how dd1 will react when baby arrives - I think she might be a bit disappointed baby won't want to play kitchens and shops as soon as they arrive

Kayzr · 07/02/2012 21:35

Tea I would use a second hand moses basket and just buy a new mattress.

Dalrymps I'm glad that work was better tonight.

I seemed to have a few weeks break from hearburn and tonight it is back with a vengence. Its not fair!!

violets · 07/02/2012 21:41

Feel better about the 4 ginger nuts I scoffed earlier. Have succumbed to maternity trousers, as the belt needed to hold the others up causing some serious discomfort as soon as I sat down! Git some nice dark jeans for a tenner in Gap. Hope they'll do for work.

callmemamma · 07/02/2012 22:10

Just a quick one about my scan as ready to bed now...
The sonographer was really nice and talk us through what she was doing/measuring.Everything looks fine, baby right size for my dates and there was no perfect view between the legs but she said it's most likely a boy!

Good luck for those who have scan tomorrow! night night..

bemybebe · 07/02/2012 23:44

tea I am buying pretty much everything second-hand apart from the Maxicosi car seat and mattresses: bednest, cot bed, some clothes, bath, changer. will probably get a new pushchair because i like the one that is rarely sold second-hand, but i am on the lookout...

Florin · 08/02/2012 07:39

Morning everyone, I am feeling much brighter this morning after sleeping through for the first time in ages.
tea we are going to the baby show at the end of feb not sure which day yet though. Thought it might be a fun day out though! We are also buying lots of things secondhand, some things are used for such a short period of time it seems a waste to buy them new. Dh and I are having fun searching eBay. He is doing big items-crib etc. and I am doing clothes. First size clothes have often been grown out of before they are worn at all. I have been picking up gap and boden pieces for about £1 a piece!

emblosion · 08/02/2012 08:38

Eek! Scan day today, good luck to everyone else that's today....

Promise will have a proper thread catch up later on x

Dalrymps · 08/02/2012 10:02

Morning ladiesSmile

Good luck to all those who have scans today, exciting!Smile

On the subject of baby stuff, we will be using all the things we already have. New mattresses for moses basket and cot though. I might buy a second hand baby swing cause I had one last time that was really useful but sold it to make some room/money. My sil has offered me her double buggy (also sold that!) so I'm going to see if I can get along with using my hugabub sling for Jude till he's old enough for the buggy. It's a Maclaren stroller type on, I prefer baby to be able to face me but it'll be good for when he's a bit older. I have a quinny buzz that I'll be able to use occasionally but don't think ds2 will be up to walking long distances by then, plus I think the seat is 3 months plus.. All very confusing!

ThePicKvickPapers · 08/02/2012 10:09

good luck today emblosion and congrats on your boy callmemamma!

we are buying very little for this baby, but we're finally picking up the double pushchair this weekend - we meant to go last weekend, but the snow put paid to that idea! have also just bought an extension for our sling, as it was just that bit too tight for me to wear last time due to ebing designed for skinny German folk, not fat lazy brits! I will def need the extension for the early weeks, as with DS I was wearing trousers and skirts 2 sizes too big for a couple of months as anyting else hurt. even my mat clothes were sore for some reason.

TDW that's such a lovely surprise for your DH - bet you are counting the hours until he gets back by now!

ceej toddler tantrums are FUN... :o

Dalrymps don't mention creme eggs, I have run out and am not going to the shops until friday! grr! in fact I have no chocolate of any kind near me at work just now, which is an oversight I shall have to correct soon :o

Special hope you get hold of your midwife or doctor today and can stop worrying so much!

CathFin · 08/02/2012 10:27

Flipping freezing here!

Tea I would also grab that moses basket and just buy a new mattress - bargain! I have borrowed my friends moses basket each time and it has saved money.

I don't think I really need to buy anything for this one although that won't stop me buying a few things!
Scan tomorrow - hoping it doesn't snow, as it was trying to this morning!

thedogwalker · 08/02/2012 10:27

Good morning. Tea I see no problem with a 2nd hand moses basket. I got one from my brother for DS1 and I just bought a new matress. It's going to come out the cupboard again for this LO and again I will buy a new matress.
Dalrymps Glad work has finally started giving you lighter work, they are supposed to as it is a Health and Safety Issue. Please go and buy as many creme eggs as you like, I can't stand them, so you can have my quota Grin
Callmemama I was getting worried when you hadn't posted. So glad the scan went well, congratulations on your boy.
Well I'm going to have a look now at the different scan places, so that I can book it for DH and me, can't wait to see LO again.
Hope everyone has a good day and good luck to all of you with scans, please keep us updated, take care xx
