It's just started snowing in central London and is settling more than I expected,on my way out for dinner with friends so fingers crossed it doesn't get too bad during the evening. Hope it doesn't cause you all too much disruption, especially those with Monday scans.

emblosion · 04/02/2012 19:35

Hi everyone, just checking in. Sorry I can't name everyone as I am on my phone. Have been mega busy this week, out on placement with the community nurses, plus decorating our bedroom so not been online much. Have been catching up with the thread when I can tho!

Congratulations to all those with lovely scan news, and welcome to all the new ladies :)

My scan isn't til Tuesday, seems like so long to wait. Am hoping that it will make things seem a bit more real, as I still can't really believe there is actually a baby in there, I'm only feeling the odd flutter and although bump has definitely grown, people keep remarking that I am 'small' which is making me fret a bit. :( Maybe its because I am fairly tall and was a size 14 to begin with, so baby has more room to hide?

No snow for us here, although it is cold and rainy! Think Northern Ireland is actually warmer than the rest of the UK for once.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing ok, keeping warm and having a good weekend!

Oh, and on the subject of smells, the other night i did a fart so unpleasant that I actually woke myself up! DP was horrified, ha ha. Pregnancy surely is a glamorous time!

MonkeyJr · 04/02/2012 20:34

Hi All,

have been a Lurker for a while now but have plucked up the courage to post for the first time :-) and added myself to the list. Scan not until the 13th as DH in Argentina for work this week :-( can't wait!

welcome monkey

The snow is pretty but it can go now...it's my 1st day back at work tomorrow, after 4 weeks leave and the section of the tube I live on is over the ground,so has lots of delays/problems when it snows...

Baby ffnorm was so busy last night and DH managed to feel her kick, which was so special as DS never kicked if anyone touched me,so DH never got to feel him kick Smile

Looking forward to hearing all the scan news tomorrow, hope the snow doesn't cause anyone trouble!!

Kayzr · 05/02/2012 09:16

I really am not holding out much hope for my scan tomorrow. The schools will probably be closed so I don't think I'll be having mine Sad

Welcome Monkey

TeaandHobnobs · 05/02/2012 10:28

Hope you got home ok ceej? We left town at about 11:15 - at least trains were still running from Waterloo, but eventually our train got diverted because of a broken down train ahead, so we had to get off. Only 2 miles or so from home, but didn't seem a good idea to walk Sad thankfully we happened upon a cab dropping some people off, and he saved us!
We let the cat out in the garden when we got in, it was absolutely hilarious watching him Grin

Kveta · 05/02/2012 10:38

heavy snow here overnight, so we have just taken DS out for a long walk in the hope he'll sleep well later!! meant to be driving to London to collect the pushchair today, but doubt that will happen now, which is a shame. and unless the snow disappears overnight, I suspect I'll be off work again tomorrow, which is good, but also a nuisance as I can't work from home with a toddler hanging off me!

hope all scans do go ahead this week, even if tomorrow's are postponed a few days. got my fingers crossed for y'all.

monkey welcome to the thread. My scan has been delayed due to dh's work too and is also on the 13th so we can have late scans together! Although I had a sneaky peek at baby at 19 weeks and know we are having a boy.
Currently still in the BVI's our flight from Antigua tonight is already showing delay, hoping we make it back to the uk!

Kayzr · 05/02/2012 13:02

My Mum said she wont take me for my scan cos she won't drive in the snow. Even though the roads are clear.

I will check the buses but I'm not holding out any hope at all. They are pretty useless Sad

Dalrymps · 05/02/2012 13:27

Oh no KayzrSad Any chance you can get a taxi if busses are no good?

Kayzr · 05/02/2012 13:35

I dunno about taxis. I might give someone a ring.

I could get the bus but it gets to the town where hospital is 2 hours before my scan.

callmemamma · 05/02/2012 14:22

Hello everyone!
kayzr I don't know how bad it was where you live but we had about 3 inches of snow overnight which is now melting rapidly! you still have some time,if no more snow is due to fall things will improve.Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I came across a website with great range of bras and thinking of getting this type:

www.fromheretomaternity.co.uk/product/87/139/black-maternity-bra-by-carriwell
Just not sure if it's gonna do the job Confused as we're talking 36GG here...Has anyone of you with big breast tried this? I personally doubt it very much...I think my boobs are too heavy for that so if anyone tried please let me know!

Me and dd has built snowman if front of the houseSmile He's waiting for dh to come back home from his everlasting shift...he's fighting the snow at the airport...

Warm welcome to new ladiesSmile

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday!

AmethystMoon · 05/02/2012 15:44

Hello all
We woke up to lots of snow in Kent this morning at my parent's house but now we're back home down by the coast there's hardly anything - phew!

Welcome LittleMe and congrats on your little girl and welcome MonkeyJr

Good luck to all of you with scans tomorrow (that manage to get there) I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Warlin - yes I've got NCT classes booked to start in April (seems ages away)

Congrats on your scan ChateauMargot and on your little girl and on yours too ffnorm :)

Have a fab time in Dubai Millyv - very jealous :)

Congrats on your boy Tea

I find out what flavour mine is on Wednesday (baby's co-operation all being well!)

That's great news about your DH's job 10000fireflies Grin

I'm very Angry on your behalf violets to hear about your wheel clamp episode - nasty parking attendant, as you say 2 mins FFS!!!

I hope you're feeling better today elastica, cartainly less sick :(

Hope everyone's having a good Sunday. I am sorting through the huge amount of baby kit my wonderful cousin has given me...brand new moses basket, car seat, two steralisers, bouncy seat, nappies, grobags, baby gros, socks, mitts, bath thingy, travel cot, baby gym, baby walker, changing mat....
She wouldn't let me give her anything for it, so we agreed I'd sell what I could on Ebay afterwards and then I can give her whatever I get for it Grin

Right , best I get back to sorting......

Kayzr · 05/02/2012 16:07

Callmemamma we've got 5-6 inches. The roads are clear so I am hoping that come tomorrow morning it'll be ok.

thedogwalker · 05/02/2012 16:29

Violets sorry to hear about the fine, hope you're feeling better now.
FFnorm and Chateu congratulations on the girls Smile.
Tea congratulations on your boy Smile.
Kayzr Is there any reason why you won't be able to have your LO at home?
I have heard that bigger babies, less tearing??? A dear frined of mine had DC1 over 9lbs and DC2 over 10 lbs, no tearing on either. My DS1 got stuck, he was only 7lb 4oz and I had over 20 stitches and no pain relief, nutter that I am Grin
Welcome Monkey
No snow here in Salisbury today, there was a light dusting before I went to bed last night, but it all melted overnight, infact it is quite mild here today.
Nothing much to add, just hope everyone has had a good weekend and looking forward to another week slog at work Hmm. Take care all xx

Kayzr · 05/02/2012 16:35

TDW it's if I have gestational diabetes which I'm worrying about as I was overweight and DS2 was over 10lb and apparently that gives me more chance of getting GD.

thedogwalker · 05/02/2012 19:40

Kayzr well I've got my fingers x for you that you don't get GD and then you can have the birth that you want Smile

ceeej · 05/02/2012 19:55

teaandhobnobs yep I made it home eventually thanks, took a long time but my friends were really sweet and insisted on making sure I was in a cab before any of them would go off and get their trains/tubes even though they had further to travel and were more likely to get stuck. They were also ever so concerned about me slipping but actually I was the only one not sliding all over the place (helped by wearing flat boots and not having consumed large quantities of wine!)

Kayzr and the rest of the Monday scan club, fingers crossed the roads are fine for you all tomorrow. Kayzr sorry to hear you have to have a GTT, can't say I enjoyed mine but it is one less worry to know I don't have GD (and yes take lots of food for afterwards). Can you not ask them to make the start time a bit later? They do them early so that the fasting isn't too hard but surely they'll understand that you have DC's to sort out in the morning.

Amethyst enjoy sorting the baby kit, how awesome of your cousin to give you all that, must be really exciting to get to play with all the cute baby things.

mamma yay for your snowman, we went over to the park today to see the impressive range of snowmen kids had built, hope your DH makes it home soon to see it. On the bras front I got fitted in Bravissimo (went from 34E to 36FF) and they said I'm fine in the underwired T-shirt bra that I like as long as I go in to get refitted if I change shape at all. I am feeling like I need some support to sleep in so might consider trying something like the one you found, would be interested in anyone elses experiences.

Florin hope you make it back OK

Monkey hello and welcome, hope the time til your scan passes nice and quickly :)

Fireflies fab news about your DH's job, not having to relocate must be such a relief

Starlight glad to hear your local midwives sound lovely, it makes such a difference doesn't it. My DH really really wants to feel kicking but hasn't managed so far, it must be so nice for them to feel it.

ffnorm love the story about your friend, how did the 'meeting' go?

10000fireflies · 05/02/2012 20:18

Evening Ladies!

How are you ecstatica? What was making you throw up? I think I had a bug on Friday night. V painful puking while preggers. Weird as it?s the second time in a month it?s happened. I had a quiet day yesterday, but much better today. Hope you are too.
Emblosion now waking up because your own fart was sooo stinky = classy!! GrinThanks for making me smile!!
Welcome Monkey
You were lucky getting home, Tea. Oh, my kitty was not impressed at all with the snow. Refused to go out until I had swept it off the stairs to the garden ? think he would have left me a little present somewhere in the house had I not sorted that out!!

Ceeej that?s funny ? your mates tottering around more than you!! Is a real novelty for me to be the sober one around mates. ShockQuite educational!!
Welcome back home Florin. Hope you had a lovely time and aren?t feeling the cold too much!! Brrrrr.
Mamma am loving that bra! Might give one a go. I got a v basic, v ugly John Lewis Women non-wired one, which is suitably rigged for my now E cups!! V comfy. Might invest in some big Sloggi pants to up the glamour!! Now ceeej how did you get permission to wear an underwired bra??!! Can feel a trip to Bravissimo coming on!!
Amethyst that was really lovely of your cousin. I wish we had a similarly kind rellie. Going to start checking local NCT sales, Freecycle etc soon for stuff.

Who?s watching CTM? I was going to watch it on laptop, but they don?t broadcast that one live, so watching Top Gear with DH. He?s been a bit of a s#1t this weekend, so don?t know why I?m letting him choose.. Still, he?ll be back at work soon which means less housework for me. Mmm roast lamb and mash for dinner soon. Yum.

Good luck tomorrow everyone with commutes and trips to scans. Fingers crossed all goes well. FF xx

ecstatica · 05/02/2012 22:27

Thanks Fireflies, not sure, I still throw up until now although not as often as in the first 16 weeks. I was still throwing up with all 3 DC right until their births. Glad you're feeling better now. I so want it to be June now!!!

Right, have logged in to say that my fingers are crossed for all our lovely Monday scanning ladies tomorrow. K - I certainly hope the snow does not stop you getting there - will be thinking of you.

Have finally succumb to ordering myself a Kindle so looking forward to that, hopefully tomorrow -- can't quite believe i've gone back on my own 'no way will I ever get one of those, nothing will replace a book on my bookshelf!'

Airport/Roads/Scans etc... fingers crossed x

Kippersbigfeet · 05/02/2012 22:43

Hi everyone. I have been a member of MN for donkeys but have never joined in an antenatal discussion but decided tonight was the night. I am mum to 1 son and 1 daughter already and expecting another son on the 6th June. I am hoping for a homebirth like my daughters. At almost 13 weeks I am still in my regular clothes because i was so ill at the start I lost a lot of weight but I am starting to see a bit of a bump. Other than two bras I have not bought anything yet either for me or the baby. Just can't seem to get into the swing of it this time around. Maybe once I need to start buying maternity clothes I might feel more pregnant.

emblosion · 06/02/2012 08:02

Morning all & welcome kippers

Hope the snow has eased up over there on the mainland and good luck to all with scans today :)

thedogwalker · 06/02/2012 08:44

Welcome Kippers add yourself to the list Smile
I can't remember [pg brain] who is going for a scan today but I know there are alot of you, so sending you all lots of good luck vibes that your LOs are in the right position and you don't have to jiggle up and down too much. Let us all know the results as soon as you can. Take care xx

rrrayray · 06/02/2012 08:50

Hi all

Just a flying visit to say good luck to all of you with scans today. I know it's lots of you! Can't wait to hear the good news, and sex of those of you who are finding out!

No snow here at all. Amazed, as my cousin who is 25 mins away had plenty!!

Will do a proper post this evening when have a chance. X
