Thanks for the warm welcome Blush

Have a lovely time in Dubai, I lived there for 5 years and am still very fond of it. Make sure you gorge on hummous from Spinneys and grilled halloumi... drooool.

My bump is absolutely huge - i've put on 9kg already! Was (relatively) slim before the bump though, so desperately hoping it will all melt off - I feel like a whale!

Looking forward to reading scan updates later!

Warlin · 03/02/2012 15:27

kayzr keeping my fingers crossed that the snow stays away...sometimes when they hype it up it comes to nothing and worrst case your mum's landrover will get you there...on the plus side maybe you won't have to wait as lots of others won't make it in :)

littleme good to hear you're big too! I have put on more than 7kg...was horrifed Shock. Have always been size 10 and just can't imagine being that size again :(

Have a good weekend everyone

violets · 03/02/2012 16:11

Have had to leave work early, with headache, stomach ache/sick feeling, problems walking properly due to groin pain.

Stopped at the shop for 2 minutes to get some nappy cream for nursery, and a bastAngryrd parking attendant waited for me to leave before he slapped a wheel clamp on my car with a £90 fine. The shop I stopped at advertises parking at the rear, but he just wouldn't have it, so I ended up having to pay to get out - for 2 minutes FFS!!!!!!!!

I am so upset and angry Angry Feel really stupid.

Think I need a lie down.

itchyfootedlady · 03/02/2012 16:32

migraine #2 this week :( want to go home but DH is in meeting so i am stuck at work till he finishes.

violets i am sending symathy to you and extreme bad language to the parking wanker.

ffnorm · 03/02/2012 19:26

Hey all - arrived back in the land of the cold on wednesday, with a cold... So spent the whole of yesterday catching up on a month's worth of thread Grin wow we can chat alot!!

Welcome to all the newcomers, quite alot these past few weeks. Was really sad to read about Boris,so hope she is doing ok.

Had our 20 week scan today (though actually 21 weeks today) All looks good though couldn't get good visualisation of the face,so back we go next week. Was shocked to find out it's a girl - not that I felt it was a boy but DH's family hasn't produced a girl in 3 generations and my MIL was so desperate for a girl that I thought it will be another boy for sure.

Happy weekend everyone!

Scan went well!

Everything was in the right place, and the right size, so good news all round. The baby was in a terrible position to begin with, though - curled up in a ball with back us - so I had to walk around for a bit and drink a bottle of water before the sonographer was able to get a good look. First she said she thought it was a girl, then she said she was quite sure it was... then, when I asked how sure, she said (in thick eastern European accent): "99%. Either that, or it will be a very sad boy."

We're absolutely delighted. The only problem now is going to be agreeing on a name!

Kayzr · 03/02/2012 20:36

ffnorm and Chateau congratulations on your girls. How lovely.

My boys are with XH for the weekend. They haven't been since before Xmas due to problems with XMIL. It's very nice this peace and quiet but I miss them. Even though they would be in bed now. Can't even have a glass of wine. Smile

ceeej · 03/02/2012 22:45

Yay for the scan news. Apologies for not naming names, am posting from the phone as home Internet decided to break today. Fortunately DH back from NYC tomorrow to fix it. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Kayzr · 04/02/2012 09:03

Its FREEZING!!

I am hiding in bed under my duvet. I was meant to be tidying the boys bedroom but I have decided that they are old enough to know they should keep things tidy. So they can do it over half term.

Hope you are all well and warm.

TeaandHobnobs · 04/02/2012 09:26

Morning all!

Bit nervous about tonight's snow Confused although I guess London will probably see the least of it. Hope everyone stays safe and warm tonight and doesn't have too many travel/heating problems!

Had 20wk scan on Thursday - it was so cool! All is looking good, although the abdominal circumference was right at the top of the range Hmm little chubbykins... It is a boy! We've already started having in depth conversations about train sets Grin

Will update the stats once I'm on my computer - this silly gadget doesn't want to do it Hmm

ffnorm · 04/02/2012 09:42

Congrats Tea - I have loved having a boy - the train set is the best gift we ever got DS Grin

Off to a baby shower this afternoon in Soho,a colleague/friend who is due in 6 days time and has spent most of the pg in denial...she is calling the shower a "meeting"

ChateauMargot · 04/02/2012 10:02

ffnorm I like the sound of your friend!

Kayzr · 04/02/2012 10:27

Congratulations Tea, I agree with ffnorm The boys love playing with trains. Especially DS2, DS1 prefers his planes now but will still happily play trains.

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/02/2012 10:28

Hi all,

Just checking in. Congratulations on the scans.

DH very excited now he can feel the baby kicking.

If any of you are close, I've just spoken to the mws at Chippenham birth centre and they sound really lovely.

10000fireflies · 04/02/2012 10:33

Morning Ladies! Brrrrrrr!!
How are you all today? I?m feeling surprisingly well despite a bout of vomiting and D last night, which came on really quickly and was flipping painful. Don?t know what that was all about, whether it was a bug or a food poisoning. There is a norovirus warning at the hospital where I had the scan? Will get the Doppler out in a bit and make sure LOs still ok. Bump has shrunk ? guess some of it was just gas.
Thanks for your nice comments about neighbour. Hope the pie I made (thanks ecstatica!!) solves matters!! Really though, two years of this crap from them is enough, but taking steps to sort. At least they?re not blaring Shania Twain 24/7!!
Have solved the itchy nips problem by getting a new bra!! Who?d have thought it??!! Fitter at John Lewis was fab ? found me the cheapest they have and advised me to go back at 37 weeks for fitting BF bras.
Can finally book ante-natal classes as DH finally has a new job after many months of being unemployed. Massive relief, esp as it means we don?t have to relocate. [understatement of the year]

Dalry delighted to hear things have ?moved? and you?ve had some relief!! Long may it continue. PMSL at upsetting your dog with a guff-ette. Thank you for sharing!!

BTW, a few days ago there were some comments about enemas. I was also wondering about those ? ie why they don?t seem to be done as standard now. Would save a lot of embarrassment!! Did you see the glass thing they used to use on CTM in the first programme though? Ouch if that broke!!

Who was talking about having scrotty skin?. I?ve had lots of spots on bum, including some whoppers close on boil proportions. Dry skin on forehead and a boil like lump on jaw. [glamorous] !! Thank goodness for face scrubs, skin food and tea tree oil!!

Boys glad you are doing ok. Impressed by how quickly you?ve bounce back.
Violet hoping your placenta moves over the coming months. A friend had the same and was quite freaked out initially, but all was fine in the end and was able to have a normal birth. Hope is the same for you. How are you feeling today? Sorry to hear about that bastard parking metre attendant.
Mamma is your heating/water fixed?
Kveta oh yes, do fire old wives tales at me so we can ascertain the sex!! And send me some of that litmus paper too!! DH and I are convinced it is a boy. Also, my Mum has started referring to it as ?him?, which is just plain annoying. BTW, naughty girl for mentioning cream eggs. I had to buy some yesterday coz of that.
Warlin sorry to hear how crap your employer is. Sad when they are so tight.
Itchy hope you got over your migraine ok.
Congrats on your scans Tea, ffnorm and Chateau
Welcome littleme and all other newbies. Hope your scan next week is better.

Hope everyone keeps warm, safe and snug this weekend.

Kayzr · 04/02/2012 11:07

I just got a letter saying I need to have a glucose tolerence test for gestastional diabetes. I really don't want to do it. Its a 9am and I have to try and find someone to take the boys to school and find a way of getting there for 9.

Fireflies I found this quiz I am apparently having a girl.

10000fireflies · 04/02/2012 11:21

Grin Kayzr v scientific!! Grin Predicts Boy if we're looking at Chinese predictions, girl if old wives tales!! Grin

I have to do the glucosed tolerence tests at week 28 too. Surprised is so late on. Don't want to do it either, but then best to avoid a bigger baby. Tip - take lots of food when fasting period over. Apparently we'll need it.

Kayzr · 04/02/2012 11:23

I've had a bigger baby and it doesn't bother me to have another one as the labour was much easier than my average baby. Its just a bloody fuss and I don't see why they can't do it at the doctors.

10000fireflies · 04/02/2012 11:26

Oh, you have a point. Hairdresser told me labour with bigger baby easier. Must remind myself of that. It's just the thought of tearing that worries me.

Maternity care would be completely diff it was men doing the carrying though, don't you think??

Kayzr · 04/02/2012 11:32

DS1 was 7lb 2oz and I had 4 stitches. DS2 was 10lb 5oz and I had no stitches. I just do not want to be told I can't have the baby at home. I really really don't want to go back to the hospital where I had DS1. Sad

ecstatica · 04/02/2012 12:25

Afternoon ladies,
Hope everyone is well esp those who weren't feeling well at work yesterday.
DS3 and I are snuggled up on the sofa with nibbles. DS1 and 2 keep looking out the windows to see where the snow is. I think DS2 is going to go mad when it finally snows -- he has a huge plan in mind of what he is going to do Hmm

Keep throwing up today and feeling bit crappy -- glad i have DS3's CP as an excuse to lounge/laze.

Congrats girls on more fabby scan news!!!

CathFin · 04/02/2012 13:10

Fireflies - the size really doesn't make a difference with tearing, my DD was 8lb4oz and I had a small tear, my DS was 9lb4oz and I had a small graze (whatever that is!), basically I was fine anyway!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, I just took my two on the train to Woking - their idea of a fantastic day out! - and my DD moaned all the way home - not sure why I bothered!

Kayzr · 04/02/2012 18:40

We have snow. About 3 inches so far. I really really want it to go away now. My wellies have vanished and I need to walk to pick up the boys from XH tomorrow plus my scan on Monday. Oh and DS2's trip with playschool to see the penguins at the zoo Wednesday.
