Ecstatica Have you had chicken pox before? The boys haven't had it yet and I am half dreading and half wanting to get it over and done with.

Kveta · 02/02/2012 13:16

Mamma poor you, this is no weather to be without heating! hope it's sorted soon.

ecstatica hope it isn't chicken pox, but maybe better to get it out of the way now! I think it's only an issue in pg if you haven't had it before, is that right? fingers crossed for you. We have avoided it so far, and DS has spent a lot of time in contact with poxy friends (one of his pals licked him on the mouth the same day his 1st spots appeared, and DS still didn't get it Hmm)

fireflies sorry you didn't find out the gender - can't remember if you desperately wanted to? if you like, we can fire old wives tales at you and do some spurious predictions based on your cravings and which direction you face in to sleep, etc?! :o Which reminds me, I need to find some litmus paper - there was a gender prediction thing I read when pg with DS, which said acid urine = girl, alkaline = boy (or it might have been the other way round :o) and I nabbed some litmus paper from the lab and peed on it, and every time it predicted a boy :o would love to try it now and see if it predicts a girl!! Such nonsense anyway!

Dalrymps I keep getting you and Kayzr mixed up for some reason. Same for Florin and Warlin. Severe baby brain at work. Although the other day I got myself mixed up with Kazyr because we both start with a K. GRARGH!

massive creme egg craving going on here. Must stop snarfing them down. I'm plotting birthday cakes at the moment, need a good one for my 30th, and then probably a tiramisu based one for DH's 35th the following week!

hope everyone is ok, I'm 22+2 today, and baby is kicking quite predictably, 6-7am, lunchtime, afternoon at some point, and then 10-11pm. So different from the tornado of a baby her brother was - he just kicked all the time! occasionally giving me a 45 minute respite whilst he napped, then kicking some more. Hope this bodes well for the future!

Hello all
Boys Hope you're ok today and everything goes well next Tuesday, my thoughts are with you [virtual hug].
Warlin I'm with you on the sneezing and peeing, gosh aren't we a sexy lot, peeing and farting Grin.
Fireflies So glad your scan went well, sorry you didn't find out the flavour and Angry at your neighbour, hope you sort that soon.
Mama, oh no, no heating or water, I'd have been out of my mind, I may be a Northener, but I can't stand the cold, hope you get it fixed soon.
Kayzr Happy Half way there Smile
Warlin and Kayzr, I'm not sure how much I've put on this time, but last time I put on nearly 3 stone. I'm not too worried though because after having DS, I lost the weight plus an extra stone and a half, so I'm much lighter this time around. Hey we got to have some pleasures whilst pg, everything else is doom and gloom, SPD, ligament pain, heartburn, general fatigue, we deserve some decent grub Grin
I'm just sat at work bored. Got lots to do but cannot be bothered. Hope everyone is well, take care xx

Kayzr · 02/02/2012 14:27

I feel like a terrible mum. I was walking home from Playgroup with DS2 and he fell over. He didn't cry but asked to be carried. I can't carry him, he is a very big 3 year old. So I made him walk.

I've just changed his nappy and he has a big graze on his knee and there was some blood inside his jeans. SadSad

SpecialJK · 02/02/2012 15:31

I've put 7kg on too. I keep telling myself I'm going to be good. But before I got pregnant I lost 2 stone on a permanent diet for 10months before my wedding. I'm taking the opportunity to just enjoy myself for a while Smile I know I can get back down again afterwards

Warlin · 02/02/2012 17:02

Rant time...

HR just gave me some scenarios around mat leave...basically as I have only been here one year I only get SML, and holidays can't be used past the due date..so I get 6 weeks at 90% and only SML from Aug through to Dec before hols kick in....so ridiculous, esp when I could come back way earlier and go off sick and be paid.

I knew it was coming but just horrified me seeing it written down... Shock

itchyfootedlady · 02/02/2012 17:24

Warlin ... been working for my company for 6 years and its the same deal. makes me sad. i'm first pregnant lady here ever so they have never needed to change it! Makes you feel a bit undervalued i think... have a sympathy Brew x

violets · 02/02/2012 20:27

I could probably power a small car the amount of wind i'm producing lately. Glad OH has a cold so his nose is on the blink Grin

ecstatica · 02/02/2012 22:27

Hi girls,
DS3 has the chickenpox. Doctor wanted to confirm this over the phone Hmm after my calling the surgery all day desperate to see someone, he said he'd meet me in the car park after hours [dodgy deal emoticon] but was then allowed into his room as everyone else had gone home. So that's that. I had it aged 21 so should be ok. Now have to keep my eyes on DS1 and DS2. It never rains but it pours. Roll on sunshiny days!! No idea where he could have gotten it from.

For all our scanning ladies on Monday bet you're all excited!!! I'm excited for you.

Warlin - agree that it makes one feel undervalued. I remember it when working before DS1 was born.
Anyone for a tortilla wrap smothered in hummus and slivers of halloumi, finely chopped vine tomatoes, cucumber, and rocket? Grin Yumsy!

ellybett · 02/02/2012 23:22

Am all tucked up in bed but just had to say ecstatica that wrap sounds bloomin amazing. The need for halloumi is now overwhelming!
Sorry about the pox though. Fingers crossed it will be a light case. With dd she never seemed ill, just casper like when bathed in chalomine!

TheLittleMe · 03/02/2012 06:22

Hope you don't mind me joining you ladies... I have been lurking since the thread was created, but didn't have the balls to post Blush. I'm due 19th June, baby number 2! I just had my 20 week scan yesterday, all looked fine with baby, although have to go back in a week because baby was in an awkward position and the tech couldn't get a clear view of the spine or heart (how you can't get a clear view of the heart i'm not sure!!!). I came away from the scan feeling quite disappointed really.. the sonographer was SO rushed it was ridiculous, I don't really have much faith in her to be honest, and praying that next Thurs I have someone a little more bothered! She also couldn't tell the sex (although luckily we had a private gender scan at 16 weeks, and know its a girl Wink).

CathFin · 03/02/2012 07:28

Hi LittleMe - Welcome! I would put it down to the sonographer being not particularly skillful! Hope next weeks scan is more reassuring!

Ecstatica - both of mine had cpox last year, one after the other, hope if your two DS do get it then they get it together otherwise it does drag on! DS got it exactly 14 days after DD so it was a month of poorly little ones.

I had the warm halloumi wrap from Pret with falafel the other day - that was yummy too!

Did my preggo yoga class last night, was very good, must try to practice a bit at home!

rrrayray · 03/02/2012 08:24

Morning all

thedogwalker · 03/02/2012 09:01

Morning all
Kayzr You are not a bad mum, how was you to know he had hurt his knee and in our condidition, we can't be carrying our LOs. Don't beat yourself up, just give him extra hugs, which will make you both feel better [virtual hug from me]
ouch Warlin and Itchy, that's not much maternity pay is it. Don't know what to add as I don't know how you can improve the situation, sorry
Welcome Littleme, glad you've joined us. find the last set of stats, cut, paste and add yourself Smile
Thank goodness it's Friday. Hope to get away from work early today, then it's a trip to the supermarket and home to cook dinner, no highlife for me Hmm
Anyone got plans for valentines day??? my DH isn't home until a couple of days after and I'm not sure what I want to do. Maybe just cook him a romantic meal as I cannot be bothered to get dressed up to go out and the pain of finding a babysitter. Wow how unromantic am I???
Hope everyone is well, take care xx

Dalrymps · 03/02/2012 09:23

Morning ladiesSmile

Morning rrray

Welcome littleme

TDW all we're planning for valentines is an M&S meal deal after the boys have gone to bed. Dh got some M&S vouchers through work for Xmas so we'll use themSmile

My mysterious back pain has gone and I actually slept quite well last night hooray!

Hope everyone is feeling well and looking forward to the weekend.

I'm back to work on Sunday boo.. Been waiting ages for them to actually put me on the rota since I told them I was well enough to return so it's kinda overdue anyway.

Kveta · 03/02/2012 09:47

hi all, welcome littleme :)

ecstatica hope the CP passes quickly, and with little adverse effect on your DS. Don't envy you at all!

I'm off work today (well, working from home as much as possible) with the most god awful headache. DS was up all night, so went to the CM all perky this morning whilst DH and I are propping up our eyelids with matchsticks and yawning a lot. Bloody child. He is lucky he's cute. No idea where he gets his energy from though, he can't have slept more than about 4 hours in total, but was bouncing off the walls and gibbering away at us at 5 am despite having seen us at 12, 2, and 4 already. grr.

TDW I always end up carrying DS, but have convinced him that riding on my shoulders is more fun than me cuddling him where he can kick my bump! much easier that way!

No valentines day plans as such here, although we are going into London to celebrate my birthday that day! I am thinking of making these after seeing them on pinterest the other day - they look amazing! is anyone else on here a pinterest addict fan? Anyway, we only do cards for valentines as it's both our birthdays that week. I can't wait to see DH's face when he opens his present from DS and I, he is so utterly in the dark about it! I love surprises for other people :o

Now I'd better do some writing to justify working from home, then going to bed for a few hours I think. yawn!

OP posts:
Kayzr · 03/02/2012 10:14

Thanks TDW I just felt so bad when I saw his knee, he keeps making me look at it this morning.

I have no valentines day plans at all as DP will be away still. I did get a very cute cuddly teddy the other day who came all the way from Malaysia.

Welcome LittleMe

Warlin · 03/02/2012 10:17

Morning all...Friday {wine} Yippeee

ecstatica rough on the CP...I suppose it's better for them to get it over with but fingers crossed it doesn't spread to other DSs. I must say hats off to those with DC as I am shattered just looking after myself...don't think I could cope with kids...kveta that sounds horrendous :( I need my sleep and am like a bear without it!

Welcome littleme does sound like your sonographer didn't have a clue. So many seem to be having bad experiences with them. Congrats on your girl and at least on the plus side you get to see her again next week...add yourself to the list (on previous page)

itchy at least I'm not the only one but it does suck...some people are so lucky with what they get. Just need to win lottery to make things better Grin

TDW can't believe your DH is home so soon....it's come round quite quickly, though I'm sure not for you. Bet you can't wait to see him and for him to meet bump. Excited for you.

cathfin yoga sounds fab...I would love to go but none near me on the nights I want to go.

Has anyone booked anti natal classes yet...I got mine booked at 20 scan...17th and 24th May...thought that was quite late for a 14th june due date???

I've had another bump growth spurt..look massive today :) Hope my boobs stop growing soon though....!!!

ChateauMargot · 03/02/2012 10:38

Welcome, LittleMe!

Oh god, I love grilled halloumi. Is it lunch time yet??

Valentine's plans consist of lunch at a resto I've been dying to try for ages (husband teaches, and he'll be on half term then), though we're having friends round the Sunday before for an early Valentine's lunch - planning on kitsch table decorations (fizzy hearts, etc) but otherwise will be a standard soup/roast/crumble affair.

Warlin, I think I'm also signed up for NCT classes in May. Hypnobirthing starts next month, though - will be quite weird to get to that stage!

My scan is today at 5pm. Postive vibes, please! Am excited and can't quite get my head around the fact that if we can find out the gender it will all become that much more real. Also very nervous, though. No particular reason other than that I can't believe the plain sailing-ness of things so far; there's bound to be some catch. Think I've felt movements this morning, though (still the popcorn-type ones), so am hoping that I'm worrying for nothing...

Miniangel · 03/02/2012 12:14

Welcome Littleme Congrats on your baby girl.
Best of luck for your scan ChateauMargot.
ecstatica Hope your DS gets better soon and other DCs escape the pox.
TDW Yipeee the time for DH's return is coming soon. I am so pleased for you.
Fireflies Congrats on your scan. Do you really want to find out the flavour?
Warlin and Itchy the maternity pay scenario sucks. Sorry.

My DH is planning a surprise for valentine's so will have to wait & watch. I want to take him to watch a musical but he said 14th is his surprise day so will plan it some other time.

Went to the doc's yesterday and coaxed him into letting me hear the baby's heartbeat. It was there and beating away so much relieved and felt happier knowing that the LO is in there safe.

I had a wierd snoring noise coming from my tummy this morning. Could that be the baby snoring? Has anyone heard any noises from the bump?

millyv · 03/02/2012 12:26

Morning everyone!

Woo hoo - another week is nearly over, roll on Monday for all of the scans! Good luck to everyone who is having a scan today - I'm not jealous I promise!!

Valentines day this year will be a quiet affair, dh's birthday yesterday and mine on Tuesday, then we're off to Dubai Wednesday til Monday so Tuesday night will probably be spent at home cwtched up on the sofa!

Hope everyone is ok, this was just a quick message as I'm having a mental day in work today - can't wait to go home and chill out!

Xx

ecstatica · 03/02/2012 12:45

Hi girls,
ChateauM - good luck with today's scan, will pop in later this evening to find out your news :)
Great Valentines plans ladies -- love the creativity. My father has come to visit from abroad, DS2 has his 5th b'day and of course, DS3 has chickenpox so think our Valentines Day is going to be non-existent which is fine, we try to have our couple time on a Friday/Saturday night when the kids are in bed which involves a nice meal and movie etc.. will just have to make an extra special one when we are back to normal!
TheLittleMe - Yay on your little girl, and sorry to hear about the sonographer Hmm same happened to me (they couldn't get a good view of the spine) but after a 20 minute break for walk and drink the baby had cooperated. Hopefully this will be the case on your next visit :)
Miniangel - Big smile at possible baby snoring :)
TDW - Can't believe how quickly the time has gone! That is great news about your DH :)
Rray, Warline, Kveta, Kayzr, and all the other lovely ladies -- good morning

Thank you all for asking after us. DS3 looks fine, agree 'Casper' like - Is perfectly fine, playing and running around and I'm covered in Calamine half the time. :)

Talk later.

ecstatica · 03/02/2012 12:46

x-posts Millyv - Have a wonderful time in Dubai :)

Warlin · 03/02/2012 13:24

Good luck this afternoon chateau so exciting. Hope LO rolls over and shows you the flavour :) So frustrating when they don't co-operate! I loved finding out the sex as it feels so real....only problem is it's so hard not to say "he" when talking about bump to everyone else!

milly very jealous of Dubai Envy. I have been a couple of times and love the ncie hotels. Where are you staying?

Mini your DH is so sweet..how lovely! Bless him.

I have no plans for valentines day. DH usually cooks me a lovely meal as I hate all the commercial side and restaurants are always packed. Strange on a Tue night though so he may do it next Sat instead...he hasn't offered yet but then he's not really a planner :)

Good luck to all with scans on Monday...the time is nearly here...not long to wait now Grin

Kayzr · 03/02/2012 14:06

Milly Have a great time. I am very Envy I would love to go there.

Mini Ooooh I wonder what the surprise is.

I can not wait to have the scan. I am so worried about the threat of snow though. It gets pretty bad here and the road to the town where the hospital is occasionally gets closed.

But my Mum has an old 1970's Land Rover so I'm sure that might make it through. Eeeeekkkk
