Hi everyone

Violets glad the scan went well and hope the placenta moves soon. Shame about the sonographer, the least people can do is be nice but some can't even manage that.

ceej well done. The end is in sight now and I am sure editing will go by quickly. Have a fun pamper day.

Dalry glad you had a better day yesterday.

Kveta apparently I wasn't too happy about my lil sister too but got over it. DS will be just fine and love his lil sister.

The chocolate launch party was alot of fun, got to taste loads. DH came after work and took me to this posh restaurant in covent garden and it was one of the best pan asian fusion food I have had. It's called Tamarai and even the baby loved it as it was kicking away.

I am off to wander around central London with my girlfiriends and their DCs so I better get moving. It feels so nice to be able to do things after such a long period of feeling sick all the time.

I hope you all have great days too.

AmethystMoon · 01/02/2012 12:34

Glad your scan went well violets even with grumpy sonographer!

I've been sneezing and holding my bump for over 10 weeks now, I checked with my MW and she said it's because of all the relaxin circulating in my system which is softening my ligaments and so getting that 'pulled muscle' pain is very normal. I've even found that I do seem to pull muscles very easily at the moment, just from over reaching and so on.

Good luck fireflies let us know how you get on :)

I live near Portsmouth Kayzr, I am sure you'll have a lovely time. Walks along the beach are nice when the sun shines (even though it's cold at the moment)...especially when finished off with chips or hot donuts! Also a bit of shopping at GunWharf Quays (discount village) is good and lots of restaurants/cafes to stop in with a fab view of the solent and all the boats coming and going.

1 week today miniangel - getting excited now, are you going to find out the sex if baby co-operates?

ChateauMargot · 01/02/2012 12:36

ceeej, well done on the draft! I've just finished my own first draft today (English PhD) - sending it to supervisor at the end of this week, and can't wait for it to be someone else's problem for a bit!

Counting the minutes until 5pm Friday. Why on earth didn't I book a morning scan??

itchyfootedlady · 01/02/2012 12:44

Welcome to Bemybebe, crackers and tipp2... so many newbies after the 20 week scans!

I'm so excited but i have to wait until TUESDAY which seems forever away! I'm 11:15 if anyone esle wants to joing the tuesday club? Grin

violets ... good luck with the placenta! Sorry your sonographer was rubbish. We had a similar experience with photos... they charged us £10 for 3 identical, fuzzy blobs on our 12 weeks scan. Quite disappointing.

Dalrymps a big cheer for your poo!

Chateau I think that is round ligament pain. I get it whenever i cough, sneeze etc and its horrible! MW seemed to think it was all fine though so I wouldn't worry about it.

ceej congrats on getting the last chapter in, your day sounds lovely now, is the sun shining wher you are too??

I just had my appraisal at work. Its a small company so quite informal, we discussed my handover now before I leave and my return after maternity and worked out how to manage it all...so feeling a bit more relaxed about that now. They are generally crap at this kind of thing. DH and I took a sabbatical for a year to drive to Australia and they managed to end up getting my project canned and lost my client about a month after i left through mismanagement, and then forgot we were returning and i ended up demoted to doing the same job i did at 23 for months because they hadn't planned it all! At least one other person is going to try and help me get a new person recruited more than 5 mins before I am off this time though! I also pointed out that babies can arrive early so they shouldn't count on my departure date as set. They looked a bit suprised at that. I am the first person in 15 years of business that they have ever had a pregnant employee.

i have an itchy scabby looking upper bump. And spots round the hairline. Its lucky we need men at the start of this process for fertilisation, and not after 'laying' it like birds, or there's no chance this process would work out - I'm hideous! :)

thedogwalker · 01/02/2012 13:10

Hi all, yes I am thoroughly pampered after my first day off in over 17 months yesterday, did feel guilty when I was collecting DS from Nursery, but I do needed the 'me' time.
Chataeu and Kveta, I am in agreement with Itchy, the pain you are feeling is caused by the round ligament. You have 2, one on either side of your bump. Sneezing is the one that gets me, or rolling over in bed too quickly. All perfectly normal, but all very painful. I had it with DS1 and I'm getting it badly again with DS2.
Kayzr congratulations on booking your honeymoon, hope you have a fabulous time.
Violets, sorry to hear your sonographer was so rude and hopefully the placenta will have moved or not be too much of a problem by birth. It is normally only ones that are fully blocking the exit that you have to have and ECS for. So if you don't want one, then go down all other options first. I have a few baby books, that I read all the time and one that I read daily as it gives advice and updates on the LO daily, which is why I can remember so much stuff, even though not suffered with it myself, apart from the ligament pain, that is.
Hope everyone is well, take care xx

millyv · 01/02/2012 13:12

Morning all! Hope everyone is having a good day!

violets sorry to hear about your grumpy scanner, I hate the fact that every little appointment we get really excited and want it to be a happy experience to turn up to see someone who is having a bad day who can ruin it all for us.... congrats on having a healthy scan though and fingers crossed the placenta moves for you!

ceej well done on handing in your phd 1st draft, huge respect for any of you ladies that are manging to complete these whilst pregnant, I seem to have been suffering with baby brain since the moment I found out I was pregnant!

Dalry congrats with the 'movement', bet you are relieved and feeling much better!

Miniangel A chocolate party - that sounds great and I'm not the hugest of chocolate fans, although since being pregnant I've put away much more than I usually would!

amerthystmoon I'm pleased you have said about your sneexing experience and what the MW said as I've been having it for weeks and it;s horrible, it had started to scare me a little but I'm feeling much better now with your diagnosis!

chateaumargot I have previously booked afternoon appointments and learnt my lesson, much easier to consentrate when you only have to get up and drink all the water and go straight to the hospital! Any chance you could phone and say you can't make the afternoon but could make the morning?

I have woken up with a really sore left ear and left tonsil? Went to the doctors as thought it might be tonsilitus - as it feels exactly the same but only on ne side. Saw a nurse and she said it's a viral infection, it's all swollen and red but there is no sign of a bacterial infection so no antibiotics. I have to keep an eye for white spots and puss, if I get either I'll have to go back for antibiotics.... just what I need before my holidays, fingers crossed it disapears!

Xx

millyv · 01/02/2012 13:13

ps sorry If I missed anyone out! xx

ChateauMargot · 01/02/2012 15:24

Aha, so it has a name! Round ligament pain. That's good to know for next time...

milly, alas, husband is at work on Friday morning so wouldn't be able to make it. I'm just going to have to be patient!

SpecialJK · 01/02/2012 16:38

hi all,

god, I'm dog tired today. Not sleeping well last couple of nights, and can't seem to wake up today at all. Deciding whether to go to pilates tonight or not, the cold weather makes it more difficult to get wrapped up and head outside, would much rather be inside with a cup of tea and snuggled up to DH Brew

violets I too read like TDW Smile my friend kindly let me borrow some pregnancy books from her. in one it said that usually if the placenta is low down it will move upwards towards the end. this is because the uterus is growing and stretching and as it grows upwards, it stretches out like a balloon and the placenta gets higher IYKWIM? wouldn't worry too much yet, see what your scan says, its more likely than not to be ok by then.

I'm so not looking forward to this wedding at the weekend. Long 6 hour drive to north wales, with the potential for snow over the weekend. I have nightmares that we're going to get stuck and I don't make my scan on Monday! plus, being stuck in a snow bound traffic jam, with my bladder is not a good thing. Better take some provisions and a blanket for the journey just in case!! Hmm

TeaandHobnobs · 01/02/2012 17:15

Hey everyone!

Lovely to hear everyone's scan news - mine is tomorrow afternoon, we are so excited Grin

Dalrymps sorry about the slow system, but glad it is a bit better now

millyv hope it's not tonsilitus! Pregnancy seems to take enough toll on its own, let along getting ill on top of it Sad

itchy sorry work is a bit crap on the HR front - it always appals me how small companies can get away with having such crappy support for their employees.

Well done Chateau on getting that first draft done!

Trying to stay focused at work, as I am taking tomorrow and Friday off, and there are a lot of reports to go out on Friday... may have to do a bit of work tomorrow Sad but hopefully not much.

Also had a real pathetic pregnant lady moment today - walked to Covent Garden at lunch to get DH's birthday present (only a 10 min walk), and by the time I got there, I came over all funny and weak, and had to sit down for ages. Then made sure I walked back very slowly. Not sure if it was just because of the bitter cold, but I was shocked how weak I felt! Almost called DH to come and help me back to the office Confused

Really suffering with hip and lower back pain today Angry

However, I have been cheering myself up by helping my mum come up with one of those moonpig cards for my DH, which is a wine bottle label, so describes him like a wine - having a good old snigger at some of the possible adjectives Grin he probably wouldn't find it so funny though!

Hope everyone has a good evening ahead - who else is on for scans tomorrow? CathFin?

ChateauMargot · 01/02/2012 18:48

TeaandHobnobs, I've got the lower back pain today, too. Intially thought it was the result of too much sitting at the computer, but even after a long walk followed by a lie-down it's pretty sore.

I've also had a couple of those 'weak' moments you mention. The first was right after my 12-week scan - thought I was going to faint in the line waiting to book my next appointment; had to sit down for a few minutes and drink some water before I felt confident enough to rejoin the queue. Then, at a friend's party last week, after about an hour of standing by the fire the room began to swim - I'd had plenty to eat and was only drinking Coke, so no obvious reason other than weird preggo hormones. I had to go up to the loo to stick my head between my knees twice over the course of that evening. It's weird, because most days I feel completely fine - it just creeps up out of nowhere, and then once it's passed I find I go back to normal pretty quickly. But most unpleasant if you're out and about!

Boysrstupid · 01/02/2012 19:22

Evening ladies,

I have today purchased 1st baby related items (18+5) Mcare selling sterilisers (Tommy T) bottles etc half price so I caved and splashed out. Rather suspect this may be the opening of the spending floodgates.

On Sat I told DS' (10&8) I was pg. Ds2 grinned from ear to ear, he is rather looking forward to being a big brother. Ds1 however had some awkward Qs about doing rudies with boys. He's over it now and looking forward to baby too (Phew).

Exdp has shown his true colours. Don't really want to say why as you'll all picture me as a Jeremy Kyle guest & I'm truly not 'that' bad. I am possibly just very unlucky.

Coroner returned verdict of heart failure for Dad (He did have a massive heart attack) however he was in a hospital that is currently under a very negative spot light so they had to rule out anything sinister. His funeral is next Tue but I'm trying not to think about that for now.

I have also invested in a V pillow, Ladies if you buy yourself nothing else - own one of these. £12 wow the lovely comfiness is divine. (Suspects most of you already privvy to this info and i'm very behind the times)

There have been no further bird attacks since last wk. Still open bathrm door with caution, but am begining to relax about it a bit more now. Hope I haven't spoken too soon!

Congrats to all those who have had scans. Sorry to those still feeling rubbish and huge Thank yous for those lovely ladies who offered up support during my time of need.

I'm not miserable or whingy today - Hurrah.

Brew all round.

Warlin · 01/02/2012 19:57

Hi All

Just a quickie while DH is at spin class and dog asleep (temporarily)!

Congrats on all the scan news.....fab:)

Good luck tmw tea, enjoy seeing your LO.

boys glad your DS' were happy..and hope you're ok for Tue...Thanks

Got the cold here though not as bad as last time. Got introduced to a girl in work who is due on 18th May and my bump was twice the size of hers....was secretly pleased but I do panic I'm going to end up massive Shock. I really am getting big.

Had big sneeze earlier and wet myself Blush. Have never done that....need to start the pelvic floor exercises...I thought that would be a problem post pregnancy not before!

Ordered lots of mat clothes from Mamas and Papas which arrived today. I love the tops and swimsuit but not the dress...it's way too clingy and unforgiving to wear to work. Will have to go back. I'm really struggling with work clothes.

Anyway hope you all sleep well tonight xx

ecstatica · 01/02/2012 20:16

Evening all,
Just wanted to login and say hello to everyone, if I don't catch up regularly I spend ages reading messages that I can't reply too. violet glad it went well, sorry about sonographer, you'd think they were versed enough in how to treat a pregnant woman on such a day of mixed emotions Hmm

Don't know how everyone else felt outdoors today but i was absolutely freezing -- I took the DC to the museum as we're doing a project and the icy wind that whipped our faces on the way was enough to make me want to turn back.

My obsession with Lush is still as strong. Only seem to have baths in PG, more of a shower fan, the guy in the shop knew how to sell, and boy did he sell me some nice stuff Grin

Will pop in tomorrow to see scan news -- off to make life changing decision on bath melts or bath bombs :)

violets · 01/02/2012 21:25

My computer is being so slow, yawn.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words and reasearch. I saw the consultant at Maternal Meds clinic today, who was very sweet and helpful. He drew diagrams and gave me a full explanation to help me picture what is going on in there. I am feeling quite reassured about the chances of things changing before the big day arrives. He did however alert me to the possibility of bleeding and told me to contact the hospital about anything like that straight away, so glad I had an appointment with him today Smile

ceej - undergrad mess, ah that takes me back

Cathfin - hope the scan goes well on Thurs

Dalrymps - phew! Hope today went ok

Kvita - so pleased to hear dh felt baby kick, it's a magic moment.

Kvita and itchy - after having some lansinoh left after breastfeeding last time, have found applying some to dry skin eg around nose/ after a cold, at bedtime (when noone is looking!) can work absolute wonders. No stinging like moisturiser, and much more effective than vaseline etc.

miniangel - choc party, very jealous, though a hot chocolate party would be better for me at the mo as I've gone off the hard stuff while pregnant - unheard of!

amethystmoon - take it easy

tdw - hope you enjoyed your hard earned day off, don't feel guilty. Must dig out my baby books too.

millyv - get well soon

specialjk - thanks for the reassuring advice. Suggest taking a potty to wales for emergencies?!

Warlin - that reminds me, pelvic floor excercises...it took mine quite a while to recover last time and i'm sure it's not quite like it used to be. And squeeze....

Teaand - sympathise with you feeling weak after a walk. Can relate to that.

Walked into town today, and have found that I can't move my legs as far apart, as in walk normal strides without feeling pain in my groin, so have to walk more slowly in smaller steps for the last week or so. Have warned my workmates not to be surprised to see me waddling about the office.

Important tv break, my fave one born every minute is on Grin

Take care all

violets · 01/02/2012 21:30

ecstatica - thanks to you too. You'd think they'd go on a course titled 'exactly what to say to keep a pregnant and extremeley hormonal woman happy' eh Wink. To get in the bath these days have to empty out half a ton of toys. Resolve to have more indulgent bath nights - enjoy Smile

10000fireflies · 01/02/2012 22:15

Hiya all dropping in to say all good with scan, though sex couldn't be determined. Debating whether to pay for a private scan as that's our lot from NHS. Feeling v peed off - evening course I'm doing is an unbelievable s*@t-show, but more problematic is we are being very badly hassled by an extremely aggressive neighbour. He's been ranting to DH while I was out tonight. We have shared ownership of some aspects of our property and he's been trying to bully us out of it. Hoping we can get a line drawn under it soon. Main concern is it makes my blood pressure rocket and I am scared to be around him when no-one else is around. Not good at any time, but especially bad for ladies in our condition.

Good luck for anyone scanning tomorrow. I'll try and do a better post when I've calmed down!!

CathFin · 02/02/2012 07:21

Fireflies - that's so unfortunate about the neighbour stress - nothing worse really when you have to live right next to them. Shame they couldn't tell you if its a boy or a girl either.

Glad its not just me who thinks some sonographers are robots, this time we have been really lucky and I had the same lady when I was spotting at 10 weeks and then again for the 12 week scan and she was lovely - made it a much nicer experience! And she was good at photo's too!!! A whole bunch of them obviously need to go back for extra training!

Tea - mine isn't until next Thursday - yawn - a whole week to wait! I sometimes come over a bit peculiar too - just take it easy and don't do too much on those days. In fact the only time I've been close to fainting was with my first pregnancy when I cut my finger - spooky when your body does different stuff to normal!

Warlin - I need to remember to do even more pelvic floor too - really want it to be okay after this baby!

Dalrymps · 02/02/2012 09:34

Morning ladies Smile

Wow you've all been chattySmile

fireflies sorry you couldn't find out the sex, how frustrating! I mentioned to dh that we'd pay for a scan if we couldn't find out but he wasn't up for the ideaHmm

boys sorry your xp has been showing his true colours. Whatever is going on it sounds like you deserve better.

Envy of those buying maternity clothes. I never seem to really need them as always have a smallish bump so tend to get away with cheapo baggy tops and jogging bottoms.. GlamorousHmm

Ok that's as much as I can remember as I'm on my phone and can't look back at the thread..

Sorry to all those experiencing random
Pregnancy ailments, bad backs, insomnia, sneezing and weeing (been there!) and feeling faint.

I have developed a new annoying ailment. I have a pain in the middle of my back, kind of between my spine and lower shoulder blade. It comes and goes even if I'm sitting completely still and it really hurtsSad It's a bit like a stitch or that pain you can get in your chest that stops you being able to breathe in properly(or is that just me that gets that from time to time?) Anyway, I wish it'd bog off!

On a lighter note our dog joined us on the sofa last night. I accidentally let out a little pump near her face. She gave one sniff and immediately got up and left the room!BlushGrin

MammaInTheMaking · 02/02/2012 09:51

tee hee Dalrymps must have been a stinker for the dog to run off! I did one in the bathroom last night and was really offended by myself. How can we produce such awful stinks just because we're preggo??

We're having a bit of a nightmare in our house. One of the radiators started leaking in the hall last night. However much we tried to tighten the valves it just got worse so we had to drain the whole thing. No heating. No water. Can't even flush the toilet! Boiler engineer is coming out today so i really hope it's fixed today. Am working at home wrapped in a million layers, hotwater bottle filled with boiled mineral water....tis a glamorous life! DP went off to work having had a boiled mineral water jaycloth (so this is one of those times it would be a good idea to have a flannel!) wash.

Dalrymps · 02/02/2012 10:08

Mamma yep, preggo farts are deffo the worstGrin

Sorry you've got no heating or water, how annoying. Hope the boiler man turns up soon and fixes it!

Kayzr · 02/02/2012 10:50

Dalrymps I have a feeling I might know what the pain is. I get it too and went to dr as I was very worried about it. He said its the gullet or oesophagus spasming due to excess acid. It's like heartburn but worse. He said to always have gaviscon handy and that a warm drink like tea or hot chocolate helps too.

I am 20 weeks today!! Halfway there Grin

Warlin · 02/02/2012 12:13

Morning all

fireflies not good about the neighbour...esp if you feel intimidated when alone. Hope you get it sorted as you don't need the stress. Frustrating that LO wouldn't roll over and show you the colours!! Glad all ok with the scan though. May be worth having a private scan...it seems so long to wait another 19 weeks to see LO!

Mama hope you get heating sorted soon....it's so cold. Typlical the heat breaks when you really need it and never does in the summer.

Dalyr that's hilarious re the dog...Grin My dog leaves the room when she does one herself....DH complains as hers are silent and very deadly! Dogs are so funny though.

violets glad you are a bit more reassured. Some of the staff are terrible and some are lovely...seems to be really hit and miss.

Not much to report here...sleeping better and having loads of baths to help relax (I'm normally a shower person too).

LO kicked the whole way through OBEM last night which was a nice reminder that in 19 weeks I'll be in that position Shock. Couldn't believe the girl needing the paternity test done .....at 17! I did think stright away that the baby looked nothing like the father!

Weighted myself this morning...have put on 7kg....!!! Was horrified! Need to curb the junk food....it's so easy to be lax when you're getting fat anyway :)

Anyway, hi to everyone and hope you all have a good day. Work manic here but will try nad pop on later for a catch up.

Kayzr · 02/02/2012 12:44

Warlin I have put 7kg on too. I was really annoyed with myself so I am going to try be good for the rest of it.

ecstatica · 02/02/2012 12:47

Quick post from me, DS3 looks as though he may have the chicken pox, oh joy!

Dalrymps - Agree with K. Could be acid. When I had the severe pain (gastritis/SOD) they prescribed me a great tablet that breaks it all down, I was better after a few days. Hope it gets better for you because it is so not comfortable.

Mammainmaking - LOL (sorry but i did) at your luxurious hot water bottle! :) Hope something gets done asap, keep warm!!!

Fireflies Nasty neighbour! Angry Make him a nice pie for his dinner as way as peace offering, be sure to add some special ingredients Grin

Cathfin & Warlin - morning.
Off to worry about bloody chicken pox
