Welcome and congrats to Bemybebe, crakers and tipp2, good to have you here :)
It's so exciting now that we're all having our 20 week scans...mine on 8th still seems an age away Envy
Grin to ellybett having mid-work naps...love it!
I am very Envy of you kayzr seeing your bump move in the bath...still not sure if my movements are wind or not!
Good luck for your scan today violets :)
Glad you got some sleep Warlin, I am so paranoid about not sleeping on my back that I am waking up every 15 mins checking whether I've rolled over...I can really only relax on my back. I think I'm in for a sleepless 5 months ahead Hmm
A big bucket of sympathy to Dalrymps over the 'bath' incident, my heart really goes out to you. Must have been so distressing :(
Lastly if you find any smart work trousers SpecialJK let me know. The ones I've seen are horrid material and all too short in the leg. I've pretty much given up and been buying a few dresses and skirts for work instead. In fact dresses are fab...so quick to get dressed Grin
Sorry to those I've missed off, really struggling to keep up with everyone, but loving the posts and the support on here Thanks to you all.

SpecialJK · 31/01/2012 13:44

Miniangel · 31/01/2012 13:58

You all have been busy on here.

Welcome bemybebe , crakers and tipp2.
Sorry to hear about your DD1 bemybebe and glad all is well is DD2.
Amethyst I am with you on the 20 week scan seeming ages. Mine is on 8th too.
SpecialJK and others- I found a real smart work trouser pair at Mamas&Papas. It was expensive but is really good quality and fits well.
Dalrymps A big hug and sympathies over the bath episode.
Warlin Hope your dream genii arrives soon. Mine is a blessing. Although I tend to kick it away and cuddle up to DH in the middle of the night.

I am off to a chocolate launch party at covent garden so really excited to eat tons of good chocolate.

thedogwalker · 31/01/2012 15:20

Hello all and welcome bemybebe Crackers and tipp2 My heart goes out to Dalyrmps hope you don't get a repeat. I've had my pamper morning and now just chilling. Hope everyone is well. Take care xx

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 31/01/2012 18:53

Thought I'd add myself to the Monday scan club for next week since there's a few of us!

millyv 9.00am
ellybett 9.30am
specialjk 9.40am
SeriouslyStrongCheddar 10.50am
Kayzr 11.10am

I also get to see my consultant after my scan to 'discuss' the fact that I'm fat and want a home birth. I see where that conversation's going....!

ChateauMargot · 31/01/2012 19:26

Ack!

Was bending over sorting out shoes in closet just now - straightened suddenly and got an almighty stabbing pain in my stomach, like a badly pulled muscle. Lasted a couple of secods; a few minutes later and it's gone. Is this normal, or should I worry? 20 wk scan on Friday...

Kveta · 31/01/2012 19:29

Chateau I get exactly the same, a lot of the time, after coughing, or picking DS up, or just changing position suddenly. Got it last time too, so not overly fussed.

ChateauMargot · 31/01/2012 19:53

Thanks, Kveta - that's reassuring...

ellybett · 31/01/2012 21:40

Happened to me when I sneezed when I was sat down crossed legged with DD on my lap. For a few minutes I couldn't even stand up straight the pain was so bad but it passed and had a scan since then and all good! Frightening though.

Kayzr · 31/01/2012 21:49

I get it too Chateau especially if I ever try to pick up one of the boys.

I've booked our weekend honeymoon today. We're going to Portsmouth for a weekend. Our niece gets christened the Sunday after our wedding and they live down south. Feeling very excited!!! Grin

ChateauMargot · 31/01/2012 22:17

Cheers, elly and Kayzr. I know that it's almost certainly nothing, of course - but yes, scary when it hits, as it was a very sharp pain and right in the bump. Thankfully only a couple of days now to confirm that everything's alright. Fingers crossed..!

ecstatica · 31/01/2012 22:26

Hi girls,
Violet had a scan today (if memory serves correctly) so just popping in to see how she is :) Have just scanned above msgs really quickly, yes agreed, that pain is frightening and quite intense!! When I sneeze/cough hard I hold my bump funny, it's hard to explain if someone is in the room with you when it happens.

Sorry for TMI but I basically hold bump and cross legs whenever I need to sneeze or cough!!!! There's a name for people like me Grin

Are you pampered TDW hope so!!!
Talk to you all tomorrow when fresh eyed :)

violets · 31/01/2012 23:07

Hello there everyone- thank you all for your wonderful good luck wishes

Here at last to report good news Grin - all went well....

(...to be continued in a much longer post....)

10000fireflies · 31/01/2012 23:19

Evening all Have been busy the last few days and away/without internet access so have just caught up on your latest. Welcome all newbies!! No way I can do a reply to you all!!

Have 20 week scan tomorrow. Good luck to any others getting theirs too.

violets · 31/01/2012 23:28

Phew it's been a long day today, but a good one Grin

Took dd1 swimming, met OH and went to the hospital. Amazingly for once the waiting room was empty.

The sonographer was a bit gruff to say the least. She did all the checks and measurements without a word. The great outcome was that little one seems to be all there and growing nicely, which is a big relief. i am still a bit paranoid though anyway - does anyone else feel that way? Seemed to have no chin! It was great to see blood moving between heat chambers, little limbs. Baby seemed to be fast asleep through all the prodding and poking.

I paid £12 for 4 pictures, and she took them all over a space of 30 seconds and they are all virtually identical, and when I said something she just grunted at me.

Have found out I have a low lying placenta so might need a caesarian - she just dropped that in -Shock eek! It has fastened itself on right 'near the birth canal'. That might explain the excruciating double up, stagger to a chair pain I got on Saturday, and constant need to wee...I was also surprised to find out it's near the back of my uterus as I've been feeling a good number of kicks and seen a few tummy moves, so thought it must be at the front.

I've got to go back for another scan at 34 weeks, which seems like an age away, to see how things are coming along.

After that I went to fill in my mum and dad, collected OH from work, saw the builder about our extension, and went for a guitar lesson, so it's been a busy day all in! Sorry to keep you all on tenterhooks.

And no we didn't find out what flavour baby is going to be - though it was fun looking between the legs trying to see Wink

Wish everyone still to have their 20 week scan all the very best xxx

violets · 31/01/2012 23:35

heat chambers?!... heart

All the best "fireflies"

I must stop posting after everyone has gone to bed!

violets · 31/01/2012 23:36

It's obviously time I went - hope you all get a good night

ceeej · 01/02/2012 00:02

Congratulations violets glad to know all the necessary parts are there, sure it has a chin somewhere! Pity your sonographer wasn't particularly communicative, hopefully the midwife will be able to give you more details about the low lying placenta thing.

fireflies best of luck for your scan tomorrow, it looks like Monday is going to be full of news too.

I've just sent my last thesis chapter over to my supervisor, such a relief even though I know there's a lot of editing work still to be done. Going to have a lie in tomorrow then have haircut and waxing appointments in the afternoon, also need to tidy the flat and sort out some washing as it looks like I've regressed right back to undergrad levels of mess Shock

CathFin · 01/02/2012 07:13

Good Luck Fireflies.

Violets - placenta might still be okay, I know a few people who have had a later scan and it hasn't been in the way at that point.

So many scans on Monday, very jealous as mine isnt' until Thursday!

Dalrymps · 01/02/2012 08:23

Morning ladiesSmile

violet glad all was ok at your scan despite the grunting sonographer.. the placenta may well move before birth, fingers crossed!

Welcome crackers and congrats on your little boySmile

Hope everyone is well today..

I managed to go to the toilet last night, it seems my efforts have paid off as all went smoothly Smile

Kayzr · 01/02/2012 09:40

Hello,

Violet I am glad your scan went well. Shame about the grumpy sonographer. I hope your placenta moves soon!

Dalrymps I am pleased you went to the toilet ok.

Fireflies I hope you have a good scan today!

I can not wait until Monday for mine.

Hope everyone is well.

Dalrymps · 01/02/2012 09:49

Oh forgot to say, I have an app with the consultant at the midwife unit this morning. Not really sure what forHmm I seem to be under his care ever since my first birth as I ha to discuss my options for the second birth after my third degree tear. Second birth was fine though so not sure what we'll be discussing today..

Kveta · 01/02/2012 09:51

ooh, well done ceej what a weight off your mind that must be! and yes, there will be more editing to do, but god, getting that 1st draft in is such a relief, isn't it?! have a nice relaxing day today!

dalrymps glad to hear you had a good night last night :o

fireflies good luck today!

miniangels Envy at the chocolate. that is all.

violets how crappy does your sonographer sound! mine have all been lovely, except one who was a bit brusque, but not rude at all. Hope your placenta moves in time for the big day!

does anyone else have crappy skin at the moment? my face is all red and blotchy across my cheeks, and my forehead is so dry, that even with moisturiser on it 5 or 6 times a day, it is flaking all the time. I look so attractive at the moment... :o the blotches happened with DS too, so I know I have to sit it out, but god, I am NOT blooming!!

DH finally felt baby kick last night, although only just - she is doing some proper big kicks now, but they feel much more muffled than DS did. Anyway, he is happy to have felt her, and I'm happy too! She just jumped and did some massive kicks when the fire alarm test went off at work too, so is clearly responsive to external stimulus now!

DS and I went to visit a friend yesterday (the one who we are swapping baby clothes with) and her DD was being pretty ghastly. Her DS seems to be a velcro baby, who just wants to feed 24/7, so her poor DD is feeling VERY usurped, and is beahving atrociously (kept walloping my DS and at one point was dragging him across the room by his collar). So I am going to hunt down the Siblings without Rivalry book I think, and be prepared for when baby arrives! I'm really scared about how DS will react, as I did NOT react well to my baby sister arriving, and there are still repurcussions 28 years on! We shall see I suppose!

Oh, and if anyone has time/inclination, one of my work institutes is doing a public survey of opinions on genome studies - it's here if you're interested! the videos show some 'lovely' images of campus too...

sorry if I've missed anyone!

Dalrymps · 01/02/2012 10:04

kveta I have exactly the same problem re skin. My forehead is so dry.. Blotchy in general too. So attractive this pregnancy larkHmm

Glad you felt lo kick, must have been lovelySmile

CathFin · 01/02/2012 11:12

I'm also having a woo hoo moment as I'm 20 weeks today - think half way is a bit of a milestone for me!

Kveta - that book sounds interesting. Fortunately my first two mostly get on like a house on fire but the age gap between DS and the next one will be bigger and I think DS will have his nose put out of joint somewhat. Time will tell!
On the other hand I think DD will handle it better. Fingers crossed!
