ooh x post with bemybebe, so sorry to hear about your dd1 but huge Grin for your little girl, hopefully you can relax a little now that you've seen her and had all the 20 week checks done

bemybebe · 30/01/2012 21:27

thank you guys!

Kayzr · 30/01/2012 21:30

I'm in the bath and baby is wriggling about and I can see my bump moving. Nothing like it is when they are bigger but it's sort of rippling. Very strange but very cool Grin

rhibutterfly · 30/01/2012 21:42

Thanks ellybett will definitely be going straight back if belt doesn't help:)

Dalrymps · 30/01/2012 21:53

Evening ladiesSmile

Ecstatica Wonderful news your scan went wellSmile

Warlin so glad all went well with yours tooSmile

bemybebe So sorry to hear about your precious dd1. Huge congratulations on your dd2!Smile glad all went ok!

Well I'm currently feeling very sorry for myself. I am about to give waaaay TMI so if you are squeamish about poo look away now! Basically my constipation has been getting worse. I had taken some lactulose after my last poo incidentSad and when I got the urge to go tonight thought it might be a little easier. I was wrong. To cut a long story short I physically couldn't get the poo out for 2 hours!!! My dh went to the chemist at Tesco to ask advice and try and get me a suppository which they wouldn't issue as I'm pg. He then called the midwife who went searching for something to give me. I couldn't just I've up as it was stuckSadBlush

Anyway, this is totally gross but I actually ended up having to fill the bath with warm water and sit in it to goBlushSad.

I spoke to the midwife after and she said to take the lactulose every day now and get some fibogel as well as making more of an effort with my diet. I hope it improves if I do all this as I just can't go through that again. I know it sounds funny but it was actually worse than giving birth!

Dalrymps · 30/01/2012 21:55

Couldn't just give up..

itchyfootedlady · 30/01/2012 22:32

Awww, dalrymps you poor sausage! I nearly gave myself a home enema in the bath when mine was bad with a saline nasal wash! In the end I saw gp and got the laxido. It's not tested for pregnancy but I was desperate and it worked in 12 hours and was just like I was normal! Took it for 2 days to clear backlog and since then been able to sort it with diet... really worth a chat with the gp as it makes life hell. Really feel for you tonight, have hugs.. and coffee... that can help too! Xx

tipp2chicago · 30/01/2012 22:53

Hi everyone, thank you for the welcome and the good wishes.

We're not inclined to find out the sex as we think it's onto of the few real surprises left in life Grin however my friend said you couldn't mistake her son's penis on the screen! Anyway, where I am, my next scan isn't until 32 weeks (Limerick) so I wouldn't be able to find out for another 11 weeks either way.

Thankfully seem to be escaping fairly lightly as regards symptoms; a little bit of constipation but nothing else, thankfully!

Dalrymps · 30/01/2012 23:02

Hey tipp2Smile no scan till 32 weeks! Kinda nice in a way as gives you something to look forward to. I feel a bit sad that I've had my 20wk scan ad now won't have any more..

itchy thanks for the sympathies. Have taken 15ml of lactulose, eaten 2 clementines, drank a glass of orange juice and downed a sachet of fibergel.

Popped to Tesco and stocked up on pears, kiwis, and some salad veg and prune juice and prune yogurts.

I see the consultant on Wednesday at the maternity unit just to discuss my general options so the midwife said I could ask him about getting something on prescription.

God, it's just so bloody awful. I can totally understand the saline spray enema thing. I did kinda try with the shower but it was no useHmm

violets · 30/01/2012 23:59

Having our 20 week scan tomorrow - excited!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 31/01/2012 07:00

Morning all!

Just popping in quickly to chuck in my two pennies worth of advice for Dalrymps - no idea if it'll help, but hey! So, my advice for constipation is this: when you're on the loo, try raising your feet by putting them on a low footstool or stack a couple of books or something (it helps mimick the squatting position that helps get the guts moving) and relax your lower jaw (this relaxes your sphincter muscles). Won't cure everything but might help sometimes! Drinking coffee can also help - maybe try decaff?

Right, I'm off to get ready for work - hope everyone has a good day!

PS - filled in the form on the Nappy Lady site for a tailored recommendation on reusable nappies. It arrived. It was 9 pages long. I forwarded to DH for his input. First comment? 'What's a booster?'. Grin Fun times ahead.

CathFin · 31/01/2012 07:16

Dalrymps - I wouldn't blush too much, that basically happened to me except I was in labour with DS and couldn't go - made labour so much more painful (!!) and then of course I had a poo baby followed by an actual baby. Makes me think there is a case for giving enema's when labour starts ;-)

Dalrymps · 31/01/2012 08:41

Morning ladiesSmile

Seriously thanks for the tips. I did try putting my feet on ds's little step stool, in fact I tried all sorts of weird positions but to no availSad Coffee does help me go but I think the problem was the size of the poo.. I just couldn't pushSad

cathfin oh god, how awful to go through that then labour on top, you poor thing! Enema would have definitely helped I bet.

How is everyone today?

bemybebe · 31/01/2012 09:00

Morning all!

violets good luck with the scan today - how exciting Smile
Reading about the poo troubles, i am so glad that I 'only' have heartburn. Hope it stays this way. thank god for the prescription charges exemption - i am consuming a 0.5lt bottle per fortnight and it may still get worse.

Dalrymps · 31/01/2012 09:18

Hey bemybebe you have my sympathies on the heartburn front, I had that last time. Dr gave me some Peptac I think it was called. So annoying all these extra things we have to put up with on top of being pg!

violets good luck with your scanSmile

Kveta · 31/01/2012 09:37

wow, you've been busy on here overnight!!

PMSL at itchy and the 1 inch fart :o we must be one of the grossest antenatal clubs on here, all we seem to discuss is bladder control (or lack thereof), farting, pooing (or not - sorry to hear your woes Dalrymps), and throwing up Hmm It's a wonder we all attracted mates really :o :o

bemybebe - brilliant news, congratulations! hope the heartburn doesn't get any worse for you, and I'm so so sorry to hear about your DD1, how heartbreaking :(

ellybett we, well, I, were planning a bit of a shopping spree to find girls clothes, but I have a friend who has just had a wee boy (her older child is a girl), and we have decided to swap newborn up to 2 year old clothes so she gets all DS's old stuff and I'll get all her DD's old stuff - bonus! Even better, her DD has the most fabulous wardrobe, made up of Italian designer labels, whilst DS has stuff from Sainsburys. I suspect we will not be getting the more glamorous outfits for our DD though, if my friend has any sense! I suspect we'll get a lot of clothes for her when she's born anyway, as she is the first granddaughter for either side of the family, so will no doubt be spoiled rotten!

2 weeks until Valentines Day, so I hope those of you who do exchange cards etc are prepared :o I am getting irrationally excited about it for some reason Confused but then, I do every year...

22 weeks today, so only 20 weeks to go until baby HAS to be here, woo!

OP posts:
Warlin · 31/01/2012 10:15

Daryl that sounds horrendous :( very sweet of DH though... I swear by M&S sugar free sweets..they will have your stomach gurggling in minutes if you eat the whole pack :)

Good luck violet, enjoying seeing you LO

elly I would allow a couple of hours...scan only takes about 20 mins and then you see midwife briefly to get blood results but there is the inevitable waiting around!

tipp 32 weeks seems a long time but at least you have it to look forward to.

Great news here...I slept through the night for the first time in ages last night Grin. Think the other side of the bed working and I am getting used to sleeping on my left. Apparently I started squealing at some stage so it obviously wasn't totally interupted!. As a regular sleep talker its not that surprising :).

Also was dreaming about a girl in work naked...!!!! What's that about??? Has everyone else's sexual dreams stopped???

Working from home today which is bliss, except the dog giving me no peace...reckon will be out walking before long :)

Hope everyone has a good day x

SpecialJK · 31/01/2012 10:52

ecstatica before I was pg, I had a bad back, the kind you would normally expect the same as SPD. I started pilates and was best thing. Are there any ante-natal pilates classes in your area? I've got a "10 minutes pre-natal pilates" DVD from amazon that I'm going to do at home, and still doing 2 classes a week at the moment. really focuses on building strength so your back is stronger, best thing I ever did

welcome back bemybebe sorry to hear about DD1, but really pleased all seems to be working out for DD2, hope all goes well Smile

dalrymps oh no! Sorry to hear about the 'incident' I swear, packets of prunes, I carry them around in my handbag and have the, or apricots for a snack during the day.

cathfin I thought they asked if you wanted an enema? Do they not? oh dear, I was hoping I didn't have to suffer the indignity of my husband seeing that. Can I ask for one?

Eventful night last night, DH seriously cut open his index finger on a tin can whilst sorting the recycling, so spent 3 hours in A&E. I'm now a bit worried about us both in labour, as neither of us was good with the blood, and he's a soldier! (apparently he's ok with other people's blood, so that's alright then, he'll be fine with mine he says Smile)

Who is on countdown now to scan!?!?! Less than a week to go, Monday, yay!! Hearing about everyone else's is making me feel so excited, and really pleased that everyone is ok so far. I'm worrying a bit about it, as I'm a naturally cynical person and things seem to be going far too smoothly

on another topic, anyone found any really good tailored maternity trousers for work? I'm used to being really smart at work, and I'm feeling a bit underdressed. Not found any that are lined. but I suppose that wouldn't be stretchy? Just would like to find some that are made of good fabric at least. Any ideas?

Sorry for the long post!

crackersncheese · 31/01/2012 11:23

Oh dalrymps poor love. It's not fair that on top of the labour there's all these fun and games in the run up! I really hope that was the worst of it for you and that the consultant can help you out with something when you see them.

kveta you lucky thing. I'm now beginning to think this is a boy, don't know why! Was hoping to get some things of my s-i-l as my nephew just turned 2 but she said on Sunday that because of his down's and his slower development as a result he has literally worn through everything he ever wears as he's in them for longer. Oh well, not like I really need an excuse to shop!

special I'm on countdown too! Half 9 on Monday. I really hope the bump plays ball as I really really really want to know the flavour! Hope your DH is ok, eek! My DH came home limping after playing football last night and spent the whole night moaning and groaning in pain so I thought a trip to a+e would be on the cards this morning. But apparently he's 'manned up' and has limped into work!

I have found no decent work trousers at the mo and have resorted to using DD's hair band to loop round the button hole!

Good luck today violets let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the heads up about the appointment time warlin. Am v Envy of your lovely sleep. I've been sneaking in after work naps, and occasional mid work naps too!

ellybett · 31/01/2012 11:34

And welcome crackers!

KatyJ26 · 31/01/2012 12:02

Just had a birth ball/sports ball delivered and my 2year old loves throwing it around the frontroom and playing 'catch' with it - quite amusing!!!

Kayzr · 31/01/2012 12:04

Welcome Crackers

Special and Elly I am with you on the countdown. Mine is at 10 past 11 on Monday. I can't wait to see baby, I am hoping 'she' will be a bit more cooperative than the last scans I had. The letter says I need to drink a pint of fluid. I nearly wet myself for the 12 week scan.

millyv · 31/01/2012 12:15

Welcome cracker congratulations on your little boy!

Good luck to everyone else having their scans today, still very jealous as I'm with special and ellybet having to wait until monday morning 9am! DH says that we can find out the flaour if I really really want too, yes I do - but we're not goin to tell any of our family or friends - this obviously doesn't include you lovely ladies!

ellybet good news with your clothes swap, my SIL has a box of newborn things for me, I haven't had it off her yet as I want to get our scan done next week. I think the box will only be full of white baby grows and vests though as that what she tends to dress her's in but I'm gratefull for any contributions if they are only going to be in them a matter of days/weeks! Saying that I have bought 3 other baby grows that are unisex and I really liked but not going to buy anything else until we're home from holidays! It's so lovely buying baby things though - puts me in such an excited happy mood!

Darylmps so sorry to hear about your troubles, I was bad a few weeks ago but seem to be ok at the moment, I find sunday dinners (and the leftovers on monday) really help to empty the block up, not sure if it's just me buy carrot and swede seems to do the trick! Hope you get better soon!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Xx

millyv · 31/01/2012 12:18

Cross posted with kayzr you're in our monday scan club too!

katyj do the birth/sports balls help?

Xx
