Will do thanks.

saladcreamwitheverything · 29/01/2012 00:18

Well done Oeisha, Karmanna and Supa! Smile Thanks

Dozy, I was induced, I was 41+4. Had contractions on and off for 24 hours before I went in, but I was only 2cm when they put Propess pessary in at 3pm. Contractions got more frequent and closer together within 30 mins of insertion, and more painful. Waters went mid contraction when I was laid on the bed watching Eastenders, felt like a leaky wee but from my middle bottom! Had a hot bath with Clary Sage at 11pmish and pessary fell out.... Hmm

bitchtroll midwife didn't want to examine me as risk of infection as waters had gone, but I was in a lot of pain by then so she reluctantly did, think she was quite surprised I was 5cm dilated and in active labour so sent me down to the delivery suite where I was finally able to have gas and air (such relief!). Couldn't lay on the bed, too painful on my tailbone as the little bugger had gone back to back, so spent the next five hours stood up hanging on to DH and talking gobbledygook to student midwife under influence of gas and air Blush

Ended up on diamorphine when G&A wasn't doing the trick anymore and finally managed to lie down. Contractions had reduced in frequency by then (due to pessary falling out earlier!) so ended up on on drip. Took about five hours to push James out as I was absolutely knackered, Dr was going to fetch forceps but I did one last almighty push and i beat him to it...unfortunately ended up with 3rd degree tear which was stitched up after a spinal block.

If I could go back I would have spent more time in the hot bath and insisted I has gas and air earlier. Amazing how induction experiences can be so varied, hopefully you'll be like MissRee and have the baby before they start tampering with ya!! Smile

ParsleyLion1 · 29/01/2012 08:32

dozy in theory the contractions are more painful but only because they can come on suddenly and don't necessarily have the natural build up that a "real" contraction has. However in truth everybody seems to react differently to the various drugs. I saw lots of different people come and go through the induction ward and no two were alike. Once you get through to having the drip they do gradually increase the amount to try to mimic reality

My body really wasn't ready at 38 weeks so the drugs did very little but the overdue people seemed to have better success.

ParsleyLion1 · 29/01/2012 08:35

Oh and congrats karma Grin Thanks lovely birth story Smile

BigHotMama · 29/01/2012 09:13

Congratulations karmanna Thanks

I was induced with ds but only managed to dilate to 6cm after the second pessary. I was 2 weeks overdue so induction failed me as ended up with emcs after being in for 3 days. I also remember seeing lots of ladies come and go really quickly. So every induction is totally different. I remember the contractions startIng mildly first day then they stopped but couldn't sleep through as uncomfortable. After second pessary they came very suddenly and quite painful. But on 3rd day the contractions just stopped so had the drip which ramped them up but they were coming non stop without a break for few hours and as ds was back to back the pain was unbearable. thinking I'd be 10cm for sure I still hadn't dilated any further so after doc examining me he suggested CS as baby was still very high up.

This time they are not inducing me at 12 days overdue like last time it's a CS at 40+12 but I am hoping I can try for VBAC if go into spontaneous labour before 6th.

How's everyone feeling today? X

Moobee · 29/01/2012 10:05

Congratulations Oeisha, Karmanna and Supa!

Lots of new babies. :)

Hope things are going well for you Blue. my waters dribbled for ages once they went.

Dozy I was induced and progressed well with just the gel. However, it moved quite slowly (possibly because the baby was slightly wedged) and I hated gas and air so I was managing on paracetamol only. I lasted 13 hrs then asked for an epidural which was amazing (even managed to sleep!) They then gave me the drip to help things progress but it was the positioning that was the main problem for me, otherwise the induction would have been fine.

I know Greenlady on here was induced and found it fine - had gas and air only. I took heart from that before I went in.

I have a headache - managed to get nowhere near enough sleep last night! Seren was hungry!

shonnomanom · 29/01/2012 10:37

I was induced this time. Waters had already burst the day before. They started me with the gel but nothing happened. So then they gave me the drip which worked. In fact they had to reduce the drip to its minimum output as my body was competing with the drip and was winning. The gas and air wasn't enough to cope with the very short sharp and frequent contractions but diamorphine helped and then it was time to push, much to my insistance and the mw's denial. From the drip starting to birth was just under 7 and half hours.

Congrats karma

Just had a row with dp about him going back to work tonight. He's wanting to do all the overtime he can get so we have more money for center parcs in march. Where as I feel like a single mum when he's out doing lots of overtime and then sleeping all day.
Rant over

Hope everyone is well x

Oeisha · 29/01/2012 11:29

Congratulations Supa! Grin

FX shevi...hope things are going well.

dozy we chose 'May' as it's one of my middle names, and I got it from Grandpa May, who died 3 weeks before I was born.

Congratulations to karmana too! Grin

Just been added to the FB group, thanks fish. The HB group certainly make beautiful babies.

It's good to hear that if I do have to be induced then it won't necessarily be an awful labour.

After eating my DF's hot curry, I spent a good hour last night on my birthing ball eating pineapple. But still no sign other than, being very active (it feels like she is trying to head butt her way out) for the last 24 hours.

Hope everyone's well.

xshevix · 29/01/2012 15:15

Hey guys Grin well after my waters went things got on pretty well untill she moved her head into a funny position which ended in up in me trying desperately hard not to push from 7cms. Ended up with diamorphine and an epidural (amzing combo btw) and she was delivered at 2.53 pm yesterday. She was 7pounds 11oz and her name is aurora leigh Smile. Proper lazy baby atm but im sure thatll change!! Xx

MissRee · 29/01/2012 15:18

Another gorgeous name! Congrats Shevi Grin

shonnomanom · 29/01/2012 15:43

Congratulations shevi lovely name x

BigHotMama · 29/01/2012 15:52

Congratulations shevi hope your enjoying newborn snuggles Thanks

Right .... Who's next? Or suppose it's now a case of who's left? Eeek

DozyNosy · 29/01/2012 16:35

Congratulations Shevi! And a beautiful name.

Just looked at the list and there's just a handful of us now. I was just wondering how come yummybunny does not have a date?

Who's Saira Noorani are you aka Blue? I can't figure it out, but from your post on the FB group I hope you are next. I'd come round and make you a Brew if could, you sound like you need it.

Fryn · 29/01/2012 17:51

congratulations shevi! I think I've congratulated everyone else on FB, but if not a big Thanks to you all!

Well, another 6 and a bit hours of due date to go - I think we can safely say we'll be missing that one then. Went out for lunch today for FiL's birthday and MiL was driving me nuts asking if I was ok every 3 minutes. But then she did feed me chocolate cake, so all is forgiven. I just don't think there's going to be any action here for a few days. Oh well, I take comfort from the fact that it has to be in the next 2 weeks by some means, natural or otherwise!

dozy I think Saira is yummybunny, but I could be wrong - I get very confused with this dual name malarky! And loved the story of the head torch!

My DD's middle name is May, after my grandmother, although DH inexplicably thinks it's because she was born in May (good to know he listens ...)

Right then, new week, new babies. Let's do it, girls!

ParsleyLion1 · 29/01/2012 18:09

Congratulations shevi Grin Thanks

peanuts777 · 29/01/2012 21:30

Hi ladies and mummies,
I've missed you all and have been thinking of you x

I have just posted on the post natal thread to update you and have go dash but will check in again shortly xx

Moobee · 30/01/2012 10:10

Congratulations Shevi! Thanks

Fryn · 30/01/2012 10:52

Hello? Hello?? Anyone there?

Seeing midwife in a bit, so hoping she'll tell me that I'm going to pop within hours (yeah, right). Failing that I'll clean the carpet. Although this baby seems cleaning/gardening immune.

Anyway, hope there's some more action on here soon and those final babies get popping soon!

addictediam · 30/01/2012 11:02

Hi peanuts, i saw your post on the other thread, glad to hear your little man is on the mend. That sounds truly terrifying. Hope your ok too. ((hugs)) because you need them!

I'm not doing so well :( I can't stop crying, think I may go out to tesco later just to get a change of scenery. But I really don't want to, all i want to do is sit in my pjs/tracksuit and cry, watching crappy tv, sleeping and eating chocolate cake. But its not fair on dd. I need to get both of us dressed and doing stuff.

Hope all the others left are doing better.

Fryn · 30/01/2012 11:18

addicted you poor thing. Can anyone help out? Is there someone you can talk to? If you can get out that might be the best thing to do (obviously I'm not dissing chocolate cake and crappy tv - I've had Nick Jr on for the past half hour because I can't be bothered to turn over - and DD's at nursery!) Hope you're feeling chirpier soon.

ghosteditor · 30/01/2012 12:06

Addicted - hugs - it's ok to feel hugely emotional at this stage, and just settling down with your newborn is a pretty normal instinct. But I think it would be good for you to speak to your MW about how down you're feeling, and maybe you can explain to your partner that you need more help right now? Get cleaned up, have a Brew, and see if you feel more like going out. And don't forget to keep posting here - we want to help if we can and we know what you're going through [hugs]

ParsleyLion1 · 30/01/2012 12:27

addicted, it's OK to feel weepy - you've had such an emotional rollacoaster of a pregnancy and now you're fed up and impatient for baby to come after all the false starts. Don't give yourself such a hard time ((Hugs)) Brew

DozyNosy · 30/01/2012 13:05

I'm due today. But there's no sign as yet. Hurry up MiniDozy . I know I'm being silly but I'm starting to worry about her again. I just want her here safe and well. Has anyone had a sweep before? My MW is coming to see me tomorrow, I'm thinking of asking for one.

Addicted (((Hugs))) Not long, where all so close now. I'm sat here in my dressing gown feeling so fed up too, but have no cake Sad, I'm trying hard muster enough enthusiasm to get in the shower. Come on lets go together (oooo that sounds rude) but you know what I mean, you know it'll make us feel a better. Maybe we can have a space hopper Yoga Ball race with Fryn as gardening and cleaning don't seem to be working for her. Everyone else is welcome to join us too. < Grin mental image of several pregnant ladies hopping and wobbling around Fryn's pristine garden on space hoppers >.

peanuts777 Hi, nice to meet you.

BigHotMama · 30/01/2012 13:43

(((hugs))) for addicted you sound so down really will help if you can talk to somebody but hormones are probably playing a big part so try not to stress about it as quite normal to feel emotional now.

Just got back from asda with bag of jelly, vienetta ice cream, chocolate digestives and big slab of galaxy, think I'm craving sweet rubbish and probably why smurf doesn't want to come cuz he/she's having a paaaaarty!

Seen consultant earlier for chat about CS next Monday if my baby doesn't spontaneously make an appearance beforehand as now 6 days overdue (boo!) Will feel weird going in on the day knowing we will have baby that day.

Had insomnia last night was waking up almost every hour and worrying about labour, couldn't get back to sleep so put on my hypnobirth app which normally does trick but I actually heard every word she said which is a first. Think insomnia is the loneliest place ever hope I sleep better tonight!

Nursery is almost finished and looks lovely so that's helped taking my mind off being overdue.

I'm having a sweep too tomorrow so fx that could stir things up but am really not looking forward to it.
